About Tarja Steelcutter

Tarja comes from the Tarthan Federation. Her family has been renowned for centuries for combining magic and arms, and Tarja is a proud inheritor of that legacy. With the escalating tensions between the Federation and Nekorol, Tarja decided to do her duty for clan and country, and put her skills to work in the wider world. She is hoping to unlock the secrets of the talium crystals to give her nation an edge in the possible upcoming battles.

Appearance:Tarja wears her medium-length brown hair in multiple loose braids, with loose quartz crystals entwined - she believes these crystals help her channel her arcane energies. She is slim and tall for a dwarf, almost standing eye to eye with shorter humans. Her musculature generally doesn't show unless she is engaged in smithing or combat; her strength is wiry, rather than beefy. She prefers to dress in her house colors, blue with bronze trim, though her only crest is on her signet ring.

Secrets: Part of the reason Tarja has desired to travel away from the family business is that she suspects her older brother Radek (who is rather less talented than she) of stealing her designs and craftwork - she figures her being away will give him the opportunity to sink or swim on his own. Her father Jefford supports this decision due to holding the same suspicion, but her mother Alina is the head of house, and Radek can do no wrong in her eye. (Her brother may or may not have hired an agent to follow Tarja and "acquire" any research notes she may produce.)

Trivia: despite most dwarves liking whiskey or ale, Tarja enjoys fruity meads or spiced rums. While she has made a study of the lapidary arts, she has little talent for gem cutting or polishing; that said, she has a particular fascination for opals, considering them to be a crystalized blend of the four elements of creation.

Bladed Magic: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Craft checks made to craft magic or masterwork weapons. In addition, when you use your arcane pool class ability to grant a weapon an enhancement bonus, that bonus lasts for 2 minutes instead of 1.

Merchant: You gain a +1 trait bonus on any Appraise and Sense Motive checks you attempt while bargaining for the price of goods. Appraise is always a class skill for you.

Throwing Magus: Whenever the magus enhances his weapon using his arcane pool, he can spend 1 additional point from his arcane pool to add the returning and throwing abilities to the list of available weapon special abilities.

When the magus throws a weapon enhanced by his arcane pool and hits a foe, he regains 1 arcane pool point. The magus can regain a number of arcane pool points per day equal to his Intelligence modifier in this way. If he throws his held weapon and draws another in the same round, he can enhance the newly drawn weapon with his arcane pool as a free action instead of a swift action.
