I am so sorry. I have been having a ton of RL problems recently, and even if its a month later, and maybe none of you even check this anymore, but I had to say something. I think I bit off more than I can chew with this campaign. I really wanted to run a good long running campaign, but I simply don't have the time to do so right now. Maybe at some point in the future once I have enough prepared to run something like this, but for now, this campaign is over. Once more, I apologize. I probably let some of you down, and I feel awful. I hope some time, maybe in a few months, I can run something like this again. Until next time.

so now have we lost Tarja and Thirrion it seems. So, now I will ask. Would pepole like to:
1. Continue as is
2. Recruit 1-2 new pepole and continue, maybe from after this combat or continue this combat.
3. Rerecruit in a few months after I prepare more and we can see if those two return.
4. Stop the campaign. If this happens, I will likely build on the setting and eventually run another similar campaign.
I really wish this had gone better, and I can commit to much more frequent posting should you all want to continue.

Yes, we are waiting on Tarja. Sorry this game is so slow, I had a lot of RL complications right at the start.

Forgot to respond to the posts from earlier, doing so now.
As Yamauchi slashes the wyvern, it glances off the scales, doing nothing more than annoying the beast.
Finrik vanishes, completely unseen and unheard.
Nox creeps up unnoticed, casting glitterdust on the wyvern and rider. The rider flails on the wyvern's back, blinded, but the wyvern seems unaffected.
Tarja swings her axe down on the raider, her axe sinking into his chest, killing him.
Reinhardt's slash goes clean through the scales just below its neck, drawing blood as the beast roars in pain.
Raiders:
The Wyvern lashes out at the Reinhardt, Enraged.
Sting: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30 HIT!
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Bite: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 HIT!
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3) + 6 = 18
Wing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 MISS!
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Wing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 MISS!
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Grapple: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31 HIT!
As the beast attacks, Reinhardt manages to dodge both wings, but is stung and then Bitten and grappled by the creature.
Reinhardt, you take 26 points of damage and are grappled. You must also, I need you to make a fortitude save. The rest of you are now up!

As the Wyvern lands and you all move to intercept, the crew scatters, running for cover. A few pull out crossbows and load them, but don't fire them yet.
Reinhardt, you're up. Sorry for not posting, I'll be posting daily except on weekends.

Ok, I'm back. I'm really sorry, my computer decided it was done working so I had to get it fixed. So I shall be posting every day, except maybe weekends. Also, I'm going to leave Thirrion out of this combat unless he comes back, you guys should be fine without him. He has not been active on any alias recently afaik.

If he does not show up by tommorow, I will bot him.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
The blast of water hits them straight in the chest, knocking them over the edge and almost off the boat, as they barely manage to hold on to the rail with one hand.
Wyvern:
The Wyvern leaps towards Reinhardt, attempting a bite.
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23 MISS!
Riders:
As the Wyvern does this, the figure on top notches an arrow and fires at Tarja.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 HIT! 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 5 points of damage to Tarja.

Just as the arrow hits Tarja, the rest of you come above deck.

Everyone besides Reinhardt, as you already took your turn, You are now up! Feel free to post in any order. Also, if you would please keep track of your own HP, that will make it much easier for me, thanks.

Oh, sorry, I meant the one on the right gets taken down. The one on the left is still there, if you would like to change your action.

Before they can react, the one on the left crumples to the deck with a bloody gash across his chest.

Tarja, you are up!

Finally, I'm Back. Post in gameplay going up shortly.

We are waiting on me, actually. Things should resume later today or tommorow, RL is keeping me really busy.

Go for it. Also, sorry for lack of posts, IRL stuff is taking up my time.

no, the suprise round is you getting up on deck. Basically Tarja, Reinhardt and the wyvern and riders get an extra round before you get there.

Both of you hear a whistling sound, like something moving very fast just passed the ship. Furthermore, Reinhardt, you see a shadow quickly passing over the ship. A few seconds later, you both hear the sound again. Then again. By the second time, the crew that are currently up hear it too, and everyone awake sees the shadow as well. As the crew begin to panic, the shadow grows larger as a large black wyvern with icy blue wings lands on the back of the ship. As it lands, two of the figures on its back jump off onto the deck as the third shoots an arrow straight through the shoulder of the man currently piloting the ship.

Combat has started. Tarja and Reinhardt, since you made the perception check, you will be participating in the surprise round, It will take this round for the rest of you to get above deck. I will not be using a map for this combat, partially because I could not find a suitable one, but mostly because I didn't see the point as the ship is small enough you can make it to them in one move unless you are on opposite sides of the ship, which you are not.
Initiative:
Tarja: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Reinhardt: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Yamauchi: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Nox: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Thirrion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Finrik: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Crew: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Riders: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Wyvern: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Order is:
Reinhardt
Wyvern
Riders
Yamauchi
Tarja
Thirrion
Nox and Finrik
Crew

Reinhardt, you are up!

For about 2 days, everything remains quiet. Each group takes turns keeping watch as you soar towards your destination. Currently,
Reinhardt and Tarja are on watch. About an hour after midnight, you think you hear something out of place.

Reinhardt and Tarja, roll perception.

That leaves Finrik and Thirrion.

As the next week and a half pass, everything seems calm, to the point where some of you may be beginning to wonder why they wanted mercenaries with this shipment. About 4 days before the shipment would make it to the Empire, the Captain asks you to have at least 2 pepole on watch at any given time. If anyone asks why, he says "Don't want any surprises like last time." If anyone asks what happened last time, he simply says, "The riders.", before walking away.
Please divide yourselves into 3 groups of 2 to take watch.

When everyone is ready, I will move us along. Are people ready or would you like to ask questions or RP a bit more?

As you all come above deck, you see that the ship is about to launch. At the front of the ship, the dwarf from earlier is barking orders at the crew. He glances over his shoulder and sees you there. "Brace yourselves, we're setting sail!" He shouts, and as he does, the ship lurches forward, pulling out of the docks. He comes over to you. "I'm going to go make sure were on course. If ye have any questions, feel free to ask me or my first mate. We should be arriving at the empire in about 2 weeks. Make yourselves comfortable, if we need you, you'll know."

Feel free to talk to each other, get to know each other, and ask any questions you would like to know. Tell me when your done, and we will move on. If you want to move on now just tell me. Also, campaign info now has a map of the Tathlan Federation and there is some more info in the setting doc.

I was waiting on others, not everyone went onto the ship yet. If you would like, I can just assume you are all on the ship and continue. I believe I Reinhardt is the one I was waiting on.

As Tarja chides him, he grumbles and walks off, clearly annoyed.
As some of you board the ship, the first mate directs you to your rooms. "Down those stairs," he says, pointing towards the back of the ship. "and yours is the first room on the left." , he says to whoever is first. As more of you board, he continues with, first room on the right, second room on the left, and so on, while he stays there and waits patiently for the rest of you.

By the way, im going to put a link to the setting doc in campaign info, and explain a couple things such as how Talium crystals work, how airships work, and the like. eventually I will be putting region/world maps there as well for the curious.

I like Daoish.

Yes, each of the diffrent isles have there own language.

As Thirrion asks, the dwarf snarls quietly. "Nekorol scum.", he mutters under his breath, as he grudgingly hands Alfred a certificate.

First post in gameplay is up. Sorry for the delay.

As you all approach the docked airship that you were told to meet at, you see a particularly short armored dwarf shouting orders at the crew of the airship. As he notices you approaching, he comes to greet you. "Ah, you must be the mercenaries we hired. Good, your just in time. We set sail in about 10 minutes. Here, take these." He hands you each a certificate of sorts. As he hands one to Nox, he looks at her strangely, before moving on. "Hand those to the first mate, he is the tall, black haired one at the edge of the ship, He wont let you on without those. Once your there, follow him, he will lead you to your quarters. I'll call you up after we've set out to explain a few things." He leaves, moving to guide the last of the supplies being loaded aboard before heading onto the ship itself to prepare for takeoff.

Gameplay thread will be starting today, I will be posting there soon.

I think im gonna keep it without ABP then, partialy because the setting does not really fit it.

All up to you guys. If you want Nox, i will let you keep that until the level on which you gain +2 to a mental stat, and then let you sell it back for 2000 gold.

Sorry for this, but i was wondering how much people would mind if I used automatic bonus progression, and dissalowed things like resistance cloaks, stat boosting items and the like, so that people can use those slots later for more interesting items? If people don't want this, its perfectly fine.

A bit. Pepole have discussed who the there characters may know, and I would like pepole to finalize that. I'm going to post in gameplay tommorow to get this started

With the fear aura, what will likely happen is at first you will have to save, but the longer you are around her, you become more resistant to it to the point where you don't have to make the save any more, you just auto-succeed.

Also, if anyone wants to make last minute minor changes, such as to spell selection, do so now.

It was a hard decision, as there were a lot of good submissions, but here is who got in.
Reinhardt Von Brandt, Human fighter.
Nox Umbrae, Kitsune Sorcerer
Yamauchi Hideaki, Tengu Monk
Thirrion Velding, Half-Elf Machinesmith
Tarja Steelcutter, Dwarf Magus
Finrik "Fivepieces", Halfling Mesmirist/Rouge
Those who got in, please head on over to the disscusion thread.

Dotting, should be starting the campaign soon.

Dot, and you guys get started discussing how any of you may know each others, and in a couple hours we can get started in the gameplay thread.

Also for levels, Im hoping to go to 20, and at least 15.

Submissions are closed! I will post who got in within a few hours.

go for it. Reminder, submissions close tomorrow at midnight, and I will post who got in the next day, so get everything finished up.

Gonna have to say no, sorry.

keep them all in profile, and also make all the changes you want until the campaign starts.

Just a reminder here, Character submissions end at midnight est on july 4th. Be sure to get everything finished by then, especially background and secrets.

Kasatha Spinal swords would be found from Kasatha, who are basically nomads in this setting, not native to anywhere really. Occult classes are fine. Undead are as common as they are in golarion. Dathalan empire is very similar to what you are describing. For different languages, yes, each Island chain has its version of common, however, most speak the language that is spoken in the dathalan empire. Think of it as the language of the Dathalan empire is English. Not everyone speaks it, but many do.

No Arkknight. They have not reached that level yet, they are simply higher than every other place. Think of it as about 1950s level tech, but a bit different. Its a sort of combination between tech and magic, creating an almost steampunk like feel, but with magic rather than steam or electricity. Ill explain more once i pick characters and we start the campaign, but basically No, not that level yet.

The template is fine bjorn, and a grippli would probably come from silvan isles or feicui dao.

Sweet! Which island chain/society would be most likely to employ Privateers?

Dathalan Empire most likely, followed by Tathran Federation.

Yes on the air elemental, and I don't care about alignment restrictions on most improved familiars, and thenyes you will have enough downtime, and most of the monsters I use won't be immune to poison so you should mostly be ok.

I am considering a former Sky Pirate turned Sky Privateer. So my question is, do Sky Privateers exist?

Yes.
