Alexia follows, though she seems largely unconcerned about the blaze.

Ebon stays with the cabin, looking around and growling under his breath.
" I know he's here somewhere, saw him wink outta sight with his magics...."
Closing his eyes, he listens intently to the sounds around him....

" I know he's here somewhere, saw him wink outta sight with his magics...."
With the fire roaring and the distance he already got on you there's no way any of you could find him. He could send you on a wild goose chase with ghost sounds and silent image, but the adventure is going slow enough already.

GM Auke |

You manage to prevent the fire from spreading by dowsing it with water from the nearby brook. This takes about 10 minutes. During this time Ebon returns to his regular size.
I assume you also all healed back up. Please mark down your wandcharges.
While regaining your breath you see a large band of gnomes approaching. They are armed and are accompanied a fierce wolverine.

Ebon only had a +6 to perception, moving with invisibility is still +20, I was pretty sure there wasn't a chance, but Ebon is stubborn sometimes.....

Should put Ebon and Targost back at full, no Idea what Alexia and Gabriel's health is...
Slumping in fatigue, Ebon watches wearily as the gnomes approach.
Wonder if Norine is with them? Miss the little lady...

"We mean no harm. We were told of this druid and were seeking him out, when we stumbled onto this cabin fire. We assisted in putting it out before it spread!"

"Put yer weapons away, if I meant to do ya harm, I'd of carved my way through ya by now."
Snarls Ebon at the gnomes, too tired and depressed to deal with them the way he was told.

Targost explains what has happened and the attack and has the atomie confirm what he has said.

The gnomes seem distrustful at first, but the evidence (the unconcious body of the Unseelie human) backed up by Gire's testimony seem to convince them and they lower their weapons.
I need linguistics checks from people if they want to try to ready Hemzel’s journal, as it is written in pidgin shorthand of

"So you want to stop Cyflymber? We've got no problem with that! But when that's done you have to leave the forest." the gnome tells you with a stern face.
"You'll have to hurry, as the lorestone will be destoyed if it's put instide the stone circle and it is hit by the first rays of the morningsun."
"I'll write down directions to the druid circle, but we won't join you as it is a dark and cursed place."

![]() |

Targost thanks the gnomes and promises that they will vacate the forest as soon as the threat from Cyflymber has been dealt with.
He shows the others the directions and heads out to the stone circle.

![]() |

Ebon shrugs at the thought of leaving the forest.
"Sooo......We can slash and smash this cliffmumbo fella?"
He asks in eagerness, Ready to beat his frustrations out on an available target...

GM Auke |

Ghosting Gabriel
"If those gnomes won't fight to rid their own forest from a gang of unseelie, I'm not going to do it for them! I'm leaving!"
Gabriel picks up his stuff and takes off.
The leader of the gnomes is clearly affected by the words and actions of the half-orc.
"Well... that blunt barbarian does have a point, but we're in no state to fight Cyflymber. I could call for help." He gets out a tiny silver miniature of a raven, speaks some gnomish to it and it turns into a bird and flies away!
"She should be here shortly!"

![]() |

Targost give a short bow and introduces the party to the new gnome. He then explains what has happened so far and that they are heading to the stone circle to confront Cyflymber.
"...and that, in a nutshell, is what has happened. We could use any help that you might be able to give us."

GM Auke |

"Oh, show me the notes, I might be able to read it!"
She hold the book upside down and looks at it for a while.
"Ah, Hemzel writes he assiduously avoided exposing the lorestone to sunlight as the sun’s rays striking the lorestone inside of a druidic circle disintegrates it. How interesting! I've never been to that Druids circle, but I'm quite good at following directions and finding my path through the woods. Let's go!"

" I like her! She reminds me of Norine!"
Grabbing his gear, Ebon starts off after the colorful gnome.
"Come on Targost! I'd like to go somewhere where it doesn't smell like a bonfire."

GM Auke |

With Lini as a guide/tracker you easiliy manage to traverse the forest. It's almost morning when the thick trees, brush, and brambles of the Verduran Forest finally give way to a glassy lake with a small tree-studded island just thirty feet offshore. An improvised bridge of mossy logs stretches toward the island from the near shore, though some of the trunks have tipped nearly vertical into the water, leaving gaps along the makeshift bridge.
During the journey Lini uses her wand of cure light to heal everyone up to full.
Explanation of the map: So there are four trees, two on either side of the water, and their canopy is intermingled and spans the distance between the shore and the island.

Targost and Ebon scan the foliage for potential threats.
Ebon spots one viper, but Targost manages to see another one. After he points it out to Ebon the Shoanti barbarian can confirm.
"Oeh! Animals! You guys mind if I take care of this?" Lini asks.
Not waiting for an answer she casts goodberry berries: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 and speak with animals.

The crocodile comes out of hiding and accepts some goodberries.
"Ok, guys, you move to the other side while I feed my new friends!"

GM Auke |

As you make it to the island, a high staccato voice cackles maniacally and calls out.
“Too too late, filthy intruders! All your prancing through my beautiful forest, and nothing for you remains! The beautiful, beautiful sun will do my job for me, destroy your precious lorestone as soon as it rises, and you are failures, humans are always failures, always always.”

Targost manages to pinpoint the exact square the voice comes from and fires an arrow at it, but the arrow does not connect.
"That one was close! Still a miss though!" Cyflymber laughs.
"Let them have it my minions!"
One of the small gnomelike creatures near the centre of the circle suddenly changes size and becomes as large as an ogre! The giant gnome then loads his crossbow.

Stretching his shoulders as he walks, Ebon ,draws his Greatsword and moves to within 10' of the Ogre sized one.
