*cough* Protection for Evil *cough*
On the subject of missing brothers, if we know Andrezi is to return I would be content to leave thee group as is. That would be a group of a cleric, a wizard, an inquisitor, a fighter and a gun fighter. Beefy enough. My 2 CP

GM Aria |

Centipede Defense
AC 14, touch 12, flat-footed 12 (+2 Dex, +2 natural)
hp 5 (1d8+1)
Fort +3, Ref +2, Will +0
Immune mind-affecting effects
Offense
bite +1, does 1d6-1 damage, poison fortitude save DC 13, 1d3 Dex damage
Pardon my accounting, is easier than bringing up the bestiary every round.

GM Aria |

Seeing as Uriah is gonna be walking down the aisle in... 2 days was it? It's pretty likely he's super busy. If he doesn't post by this evening, I'll NPC him taking a shot at the centipede so we can move this combat along and you can get back to Kendras and to identifying the items you found and some RP while I am away.

Levelle Mahe |

*fist pump* Arkadi and Levelle will lead the botted group to victory! ;-)

Levelle Mahe |

Well I just assumed we would bot you too GM Aria... O: )
What's that? Level 5? Why THANK you bot GM Aria!

Davor Sandman |

What's that? Rocks fall and the wizard dies, then is swept away by an evil cleric with greater invisibility and greater teleport prepared and none of you even got a perception check, a spellcraft check, or an AoO?
Well... hmmm.
*Watches as ded wizard is swooped away by evil cleric*
....
Remind me never to cross you Aria. :P

GM Aria |

Okay, at this point it has been well, almost exactly four weeks since silvui has posted anywhere, and I've asked after him at least twice. I feel pretty safe in dropping him from the game at this point.
I'm waiting for my little allergy helpers to clear my head a bit, and I'll be getting a post up with spellcraft/kn. Arcana spoilers to identify your items and ya'll will be free to RP amongst yourselves (or not, congrats to Uriah's player for getting married this weekend) until I check back in next.
I left out some probably very common items from my posts, as I was focusing on the magics, but I'll get to that in my next gameplay post. It's nothing revolutionary, just somethings you might like to have.

Levelle Mahe |

I will be getting married on Saturday, and as such my posting rate will drop slightly until Sunday evening. Feel free to DMPC me along if necessary.
I demand assist rolls from the altar!!!
Have a good wedding!

GM Aria |

Hey there, everyone. My flight home got munched by the big storm front on the eastern seaboard. I will not be arriving in Oslo until Monday afternoon GMT +1. And... I'm pretty freaking angry right now so it might be a few days till I get in a gaming mood.
Now, after being on the phone to those a**holes at united, I am going to get some sleep at my fleabag hotel. Hopefully.

GM Aria |

Okay, quick update. Will be putting my actual computer back together probably this evening and be restarting the game tomorrow. My husband gifted me with his illness, and though I feel better now, I have lost my voice so I am still not 100%.
You can look forward to a big spoilerific post to help you identify the items in your possession and some rest, and I can look forward to you guys coming up with your own ideas about how to proceed.

Davor Sandman |

Perception 1d20+3
Will 1d20+5A cold shiver runs down Sandman's back as he gulps. "Y-yes, W-we need... t-to go!" Sandman says as he hastily follows Arkadi.
This is where we all do the bicycling legs in motion bit and then run from the ghost a la our Campaign namesake.
A cold shiver runs down Sandman's back as he Screams, "ZOINKS!"

GM Aria |

I invoked the unholy "puppy power" yesterday in my illness. *laughs*
Anyway, I can finally think now so my tomorrow morning, I will definitely get something up after walking the dog and doing all my household chores.
And raid my husband's computer for the books, or my laptop. Whichever is more convenient.

Davor Sandman |

Looks like I got some reading to do. Hope walking into the prison doesn't TPK you guys *laughs*
You're not supposed to go there until third level, but they say you can go and leave. Now, that don't mean that stuff isn't going to follow you :P
"I had a dream bestowed upon me from Desna, showing me that we all are going to be brutally murdered if we go to the prison today... Anyone up for sightseeing in the town?" ;P

GM Aria |

Yeah. My husband really doesn't like the way Paizo builds its APs. It gives you the long game right away, and then says "no, you can't go there till yer level 3 or you'll die."
Same with KM. Set up - kill the Stag Lord and found your very own city! Stag Lord is all the way at the end of the book and there's nothing keeping him from immediately dismembering your level 1 party that is just doing what the AP tells you you're supposed to do.
I don't like using Kendra as my voice, and Arkadi hasn't weighed in just yet, otherwise I'd be having her say "well, i don't know..."

Levelle Mahe |

At some point when I am not at work I will make a comment about the campaign layout issue because I have perhaps an alternate view. Since I am at work I will briefly say that I expected to have to run from Harrowstone (and hoped we would live to regret our choice).
On one last quick note as long as Kendra is living, breathing and honest to the template presented to the characters her comments are valid, appropriate and in no way a "mouthpiece" of the GM if she would legitimately (in your portrayal of her) be reserved about things. My 2 cp.

Levelle Mahe |

Levelle is just thinking is all:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Levelle Mahe |

Because I was thinking about it before I wanted to mention:
For me the layout of a lot of Paizo's APs do show the long game but in my experience generally that isn't an issue per se.
As I said of Harrowstone; were we dead set on getting there I would hope we might get to run.
On the point of the Stag Lord; I would hope that any group that bee lines to his fort would at least take a minute to scout it out and might realize they are outclassed.
I guess what I am saying is that even if a character knows a goal it doesn't mean a straight line is the best way there. I feel like the APs rarely pigeonhole the group into a set of actions. I also think that DM adjudication of narrative elements is assumed which makes the Paizo APs worlds better than some of the WotC and other companies items I have looked at
Additionally it occurs to me that in both cases (Explore the Stolen Lands) and (Take books to places in one month/ Protect Kendra) it is easy to lose sight of the actual objective. In the case of Kingmaker bandits are a disease that should be eradicated as part of the greater quest. The mapping is first and foremost but it is easy to say to oneself "ohh ohh I gotta go kill the big bad!"
Maybe we shouldn't be as focused on Harrowstone as we have been because that is not truly our quest; We should probably get to know the town so we can actually keep Kendra and the town safe, which is actually what she wanted us to do. It just so happens that the Professor's death is an aspect and it is easy to want to face the unsubtle horrors rather than the conniving townsfolk.
Ultimately I think GM Aria did the exact right thing; She made a comment about it and that helps give us a little guidance for a better game. Resolving or acknowledging these sort of things is always good. It would only be bad if a magic forcefield surrounded Harrowstone and a sign showed up that said "Must be this level to ride".

Levelle Mahe |

So I don't know if Kendra will try to catch up with Levelle or let it lie for now...Levelle is fairly embarrassed by her comments and probably wouldn't initiate a conversation that night.

Levelle Mahe |

Having left the room before everyone else her fist instinct is probably a place that makes her feel more comfortable like the study with is volumes and more "intellectual" purpose.

Levelle Mahe |

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
In the light of the study Levelle sits for many moments, thinking over and over her comments down stairs. Everything had come out wrong and she knew humans just well enough to know that some sort of miscommunication had likely occurred.
It was a lesson often taught in Greengold; that the other races saw the passion and revelry of elves as an oddity and that sometimes the nature of their expressions and boundaries put the more short lived races ill at ease. Levelle had cultivated an intellectual air as much due to her interests as out of a desire to leave no ambiguity in her dealings with the others that came to Greengold. But she was young and the impulses of youth had not left her yet no matter how much she might focus on cultivating her mind.
Levelle puts a hand to her cheek and realizes that the tears have been falling from their precarious position upon her eyes. Levelle battles with the sense of embarrassment over her comments...
Setting Kiire down Levelle scratches the little fox's ear, The fire might be fading but still warm down stairs or this couch here might be comfortable, find a place to rest little one.
Drawing herself up and trying to wipe off her face Levelle leaves the study and approaches the door of Kendra's room. Hovering for a moment the elf reaches out her hand and hesitates. Had she done anything wrong? Would Kendra tell her if she had? Agonizing over the decision Levelle's hand stays in place at the door caught between falling or knocking. After a minute passes Levelle brings her knuckles down on the door gently.

GM Aria |

After what seems a long while, your Elven senses hear the floorboards creaking in front of the door, and it opens to reveal Kendra, her robe worn over her hair, which is unbound this evening.
"Hullo," she says softly, her voice slightly flushed in the harsh blue light of the enchanted hairbrush she is carrying. "Should you be up?" she asks somewhat rudely, then seems to realize it and touches her mouth. "Excuse me. Would you like to come in?"

Levelle Mahe |

Levelle's eyes widen slightly and the elf purses her lips and furrows her brow, I thought I might...that if it wasn't too late...
Levelle trails off her eyes moving from Kendra's face to the hairbrush to the darkness beyond, her face a mixture of confusion and sadness. It is very hard to be here, away from home. I feel not at all at ease and...I think I almost died today it occurred to me just now in the study. I came back and I still am wearing the clothes that I was attacked in and I made a fool of myself downstairs and it wasn't what it sounded like...
Levelle sighs as she brings her eyes back to Kendra. This is all very new and I worry that my ways are...strange. I don't want you to have bad thoughts of me and I...
Levelle narrows her eyes for a moment and then gets a look on her face that is a mixture of surprise and almost sudden discovery. I think I am scared.

GM Aria |

Kendra listens, then releases her hold on the door and offers you her hand. "Come inside," she says gently, leads you in and closes the door after you. In the light from her hairbrush you can see that she has lain out a few things over her couch, as though she had expected that you might come to stay.
"The water is cool, but I suppose you could heat it as well as I can," she says, pointing to the basin.
Kendra sinks down on the couch beside the sleeping gown she had laid out for you, and places the brush on top, so that it lights the room around you. "I worried about my father, too. His letters were... infrequent at best, when he traveled. We... do not receive too much communication from outside, here."
Kendra looks about the room, and then her eyes settle on you finally, and they are sad. "This is and is not my home. Without my father, I really have no purpose here."

Levelle Mahe |

Levelle listens intently as she moves about the room, conscious to whisper the words to her spell to warm the basin as to not interrupt Kendra's words.
Sighing softly as she picks up the brush and the gown, Levelle steps away and changes in silence, setting her clothes and gear out of the way.
Stepping back out using the brush on her hair Levelle emits an almost mild purring sound and looks quite pleased with the opportunity to brush her hair. Sitting next to Kendra LEvelle consider the woman for a moment and looks off at nothing as she continues to work out the days stress.
I oft dreamt of leaving home when the ships and dignitaries and merchants would parade through the streets of the city. Elves love the adventure but we are also so...I don't know there is a word in the common tongue to describe it. We like things on our own terms, so many of our conventions are slightly different and it leads us to conclusions that are at odds with others.
Levelle finishes with the brush and gestures with it to indicate where it should be set down. There is a passion to the Elven life, and for someone like me in particular with my...ah...beliefs we are taught to have a more...sensual relationship with the world? Revel in it? It is a hard tension to maintain when one is dedicated to intellectual pursuits...
Levelle pauses for a moment and then tries to put her hand on Kendra's. If it is not home, you do not have to stay. You are young still and full of ability you need not linger if it hurts you.

GM Aria |

Kendra smiles faintly when your hand touches hers, and she lays her free one on top. "Thank you," she says softly, and blushes again. "We should rest," she suggests and rises, then helps pull you to your feet and towards the bed. She brings the brush with her, and places it on the night stand so that you can see while you are climbing into bed, and when you are settled dismisses the spell.
"I am relieved that you did not charge into the Harrowstone," she says in the darkness, causing you to wonder why she would not in the light. "My father was prepared, and..." there is a pause and a sharp intake of breath, "for all of it, he did not return."

Levelle Mahe |

Levelle lies on her side and moves closer to Kendra pressing herself close enough to feel Kendra near but to leave enough space so as not to seem too overt or crowding. In the darkness Levelle feels her lids grow heavy but she struggles to find the words she is thinking, He could not foresee the treachery we all believe yet leave unspoken. And yet, he prepared for your safety so I wonder... Levelle stops for a moment a sadness forming her stomach, she licks her lips and continues, I think he loved you very much, worried and wanted to be sure you were not alone.

GM Aria |

Sorry about the delay. I was about to retire for the night with my husband when you posted last, and decided the response could wait a bit.
You feel the mattress move under you as Kendra's weight shifts, in the darkness you cannot quite make out which direction she has moved, but it is not further from you.
"I never doubted that he loved me," Kendra says, voice confident. "Tell me about your family, do you have siblings?"
