When Pava joined this group, there were 4 Rebellion points in the header. Now, there are 5. So far, all we've done is in-person roleplay at the jail. What changed?
Just curious, more than anything.

Well, it's obviously your fault! :)
The GM has either rolled some dice or is getting ready to spring something on us. :)
Lots of these APs are like... such and such accumulates at a rate of XXX unless this and that happens.
Don't worry, just play along and have fun. :)

GM Advocate |

As Vicenzo said, you need not to worry too much about them. Your actions do influence them but sometimes some shit out of your control happens. You'll know what happened soon enough. ;)

Ahreni, Fallen Angel |

Our main thing is not to go around randomly murdering townsfolk - that'll get rebellion points quickly I suspect!

Apologies for the lack of posting for the past two days, I've moved into a new apartment and my ISP still hasn't restored my connexion. I'll do my best to post from my phone in the meantime, but if I need to be botted, please do so. Sorry about the inconvenience!

Fixed! It appears that these boards are against 'open link' so they insert a scape in it... take a look and you'll see a space in the link. Since I had copy-pasted it, it did not work.

GM, since I'm swamped with work and still haven't recovered by Internet connection, could we consider that Anarxos is reading the books he found, then will attempt to report to the Archbaron as indicated in an earlier post (see the spoiler)?

Sorta confused about what to do here. As a servant of lawful deity, fair taxes must be paid but also society needs to run smoothly and this place is an asset to the town. I am wondering if 300 gp is a fair assessment of taxes in this situation and could that amount be lowered? That is one angle. Ideas range from renting the rooms or paying the taxes ourselves to just killing the "drains on society" lol. But that would not pay the back taxes. We could even investigate the ability to pay of each "customer" and their families but I doubt that is the direction the AP wants us to go. I need some other voices here.

This is where playing LE becomes very interesting. In a normal campaign, it would be simple: give her the money, help the people, woo! Pava is going to want to stand for the equal application of the law. The structure of Hell is her guide here. It's organized and efficient, but it's not always nice or comfortable, but that's what makes it work. If the taxes are legally assessed, then this woman owes them. But I have no problem investigating her taxes. If she's a non-profit, what is being taxed? Surely this isn't an income or commerce tax; is it property tax? Is everyone's property tax 300gp, or is there some kind of special case here?
If she gets most of her funds from the Church of Iomedae, maybe we pressure her to seek a larger donation from them. That could actually serve two goals; get her taxes paid and prevent any action against the hospice, and divert some funds from the Iomedaeans to the town.

Vicenzo, human witch |

I agree. I'm not a big fan of alignments but I know that lawful means following the law, which is why I never play 'lawful'.
I think we need to leave and discuss/deal with the situation without her input.
I'll post that IC and also start our IC conversation.

Regarding Melani's Diplomacy roll:
As a rules point, we'd better try to improve his attitude via Diplomacy first, then ask for a service, especially since we haven't met him so far. I know Diplomacy rules are rarely enforced correctly in PbPs, but since our GM appears to do so (which I do appreciate), we could do it this way.
EDIT: Or maybe roll with it for now and try to influence him further later. He could be an interesting ally to have on our side.

Melani* Starsmite |

Quite unsure what to do here. Do nothing and the property will be seized and discord will rise. Paying the taxes ourselves seems quite out of character as well. As does trying to bribe the notary to get the taxes lowered. I am at a loss.

Melani* Starsmite |

I saw. Melani is a vessel for the lord Asmodeus himself. She is not going to start emptying chamber pots. :P

Pava Arioch |

Most of the work that needs to be done is nonmagical, and can be done by a hireling with ranks in Heal. They empty the chamber pots. Melani makes the infernal healing potions that support the enterprise.

GM Advocate |

@Anarxos: Will you report to Razelago first or go directly to the Archbaron?

![]() |

Razelago first. Let's respect the chain of command.

Ok... come here to rant on you about not answering to my last post... and realized that it got eaten. Sorry for the delay. Will get it on asap!

Melani* Starsmite |

I seem to loose posts more often than I used to. Not sure if I am previewing them and then forgetting to submit, submitting but not staying on the page long enough with the system is slow (not sure if that causes a lost post or not), or if the posts are really getting eaten.

Pava Arioch |

I've started copying the text of my posts before I submit, just so that I have them on the clipboard in case they get lost.

Pop the gold into your spreadsheets and delete your cell so I can see who's done it. :)
I'm truly sorry, but I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Dod you mean to add the gold to our own character sheet, then delete the cell in the loot spreadsheet?

Pava Arioch |

I have a new role at work that has me sitting in a different building, and it seems that the firewall is configured differently. I can read these boards, but can’t post to them. I’ll still be able to post from my phone, but it’s a lot harder to type a quality post without a proper keyboard. My posting between 8:00am – 5:30pm (US Eastern time) will go down because of this.

Ahreni is planning to try and effectively buy the hospice, by offering to pay off the taxes (and some extra to actually own the house) in exchange for the doctor no longer accepting Iomedean donations and various other things. This will be financed entirely out of her wealth share so don't worry! She's asking Melani to be there as a legal witness (and to back her considerable bluff... :D ) Also, assuming Cimri and Pava can sell everything I've updated the loot tracker. Pop the gold into your spreadsheets and delete your cell so I can see who's done it. :)
Is this something that your PC wants to do? Run the hospice?

GM Advocate |

@Anarxos and Melani: The Caggan visit would only happen on the first hours of the night, after the urchin comes in with the information so you'd have already finished your 'tasks'. If you wish to come by, you'll be able to.

Sorry - that wasn't clear was it?
You're quite right. Put your new wealth into your character sheet and then delete the cell under your name in the loot tracker - that way I don't need to trawl everyones sheets to check who has and who hasn't. :)

No, but... Ahreni remains an angel, even if she has been stripped of her power. She isn't good any more but doesn't see any need to avoid doing "good" things (like running a hospice) especially if she can get something out of it for herself/her cause (in this case getting the Doctor to speak out against the GR and/or help support the status quo. Since she's well known in town Ahreni figures she will be more successful keeping rebellion down than we are likely to be.)
She's got no intention of emptying chamber pots or anything like that, she just wants to own the building. That gives her leverage against the doctor, more if she lets the doctor live/work there free of rent.

Done as well! Thanks for the clarification, I'm notoriously bad at loot spreadsheets.

Going to be off-line some this weekend and into next week. Have a funeral to attend to and then some medical tests early Monday. Will post as time allows.

GM Advocate |

Sorry to let you know just now, but I'm at the beach and away from my computer... Will update on Monday.

GM Advocate |

Melani is out this week, but do we have a direction? Ahreni? Anarxos?
It appears Vicenzo and Pava are torn between arresting Caggan or the barmaid, and even so I need to know when you are going to do it... this nights or in the morning?

Ahreni, Fallen Angel |

Ahreni went back to Ash house and I read Vincenzo and Pava as having gone to the jail so she's not there to get involved, especially as she didn't see anything odd happening.

Vicenzo, human witch |

So, I guess Pava has a temper. I didn't plan on that, but I feel like it's working.
Our last guy had a temper.
He's dead now. :)

Ahreni, Fallen Angel |

Hey everyone, wanted to apologise about how absent (both IC and OC) I've been recently. I've been taking the whole 'acting in the shadows' thing rather too literally and I'm sorry that's been effecting you guys. Now Anya is getting more established as an alternative persona Ahreni will be around lots more often!
I'm also having RL issues which is effecting my posting time, hence the short responses recently. So my apologies to everyone, I'll be here when needed and a level of Vigilante may be looming in the near future!

Melani* Starsmite |

Reporting back in. I am fine but now have a stint in my LAD artery. I had mild chest pain while exercising but it seemed to be getting worse so I had it checked out. Total blockage, but other arteries had stepped up to help so I had little or no damage. Moral of the story, if you have chest pain, get it checked out.
I'll get a post up tomorrow.
