"Highpriestess Brissa is it my imagination or are some of these prices a bit high? Specifically gear being sold to the crusaders heading to Mendev. The local merchants wouldn't happen to be price gouging the people risking their lives to hold the Worldwound at bay would they? I'm all for making money but anything that hurts the war effort risks failure on the part of the crusaders. I doubt the local shopkeepers can bribe demons into not eating their faces off should the Worldwound not be contained."

With his eavesdropping coming to nought, the Worldwound ranger rejoins his companions as they get the letter of recommendation from the Priestess of Abadar. Bowing to her holiness he shrugs to indicate that he has not managed to hear anything going on. He waits patiently for Naur to finish his own business dealings here, keeping an eye on the crowd to ensure no-one is taking too much interest in the group.

Since Nuar has played Daughters of Fury and gave his life to protect his allies from a horde of demons in his last adventure he is speaking from first hand knowlesge. Though perhaps such stories should be left to bards, Nuar tells it poorly.

Tortuga is Liberty's Edge

I've been following what's been going on but I don't really have anything to contribute right now.

Tortuga was a worshiper of Abadar himself, but more as a deity of civilization than of mercantilism, so he wasn't really comfortable talking to any of the important people here. He let the others take the lead while he looked around.

Sorry, missed the bit where you needed my response. "Madam, I believe that any enterprise requires two sides: the producer and the consumer. In order to promote ongoing business, it simply makes sense to sacrifice in the short term, ie allow a discount to crusaders, in order to ensure their survival into the long term, ie when they will return and purchase again. After all, a surviving crusader needs replacement equipment and goods; a dead one is no profit to anyone. Plus, I have seen personally the horrors of the Wound. Anyone who willingly steps up to safeguard their fellow person deserves a discount, for it us and our merchant friends that benefit."

His business concluded, Vinnie says "I suggest we gather ourselves and meet Ingret as soon as possible. Time is of the essence."

The disguised ranger shrugs at Pandora's question, his eyes darting around the shadows of this hectic city.

You decide to head for the Chymist’s Ward in search of Vel's shop.

You manage to cross the bridge to the eastern side of town, and asking a few questions, are able to obtain directions to the shop.

The Chymist’s Ward distinguishes itself as an entirely
separate district from the rest of Chesed. The alchemists,
apothecaries, and tinkerers who go about their daily
routine there would have others believe it’s because it
takes a certain sophistication or genius to fit in with
their community.

Upon entering the shop, you spy a gnome, undoubtedly Vel, is comparing the clarity of
two different tinctures behind the counter of his shop.
As he notices you, he immediately stops and calls out.

Welcome travelers and adventurers. You obviously are in need of top of the line alchemical supplies
and as your luck would have it, I, Vel, am just the person too fulfill your every need.

He continues without so much as a breath.

[b]You must try my latest miracle cure to all aches, pains, troubles, and worries.
It is developed from a unique polymer and plasma blend known only to me...
and the price is very affordable considering all it does!

He continues on in this fashion until interrupted or until he
runs out of breath, whichever comes first.

Arathorth looks at the Gnome with a raised eyebrow and shrugs heavily at the questioning tone. Pretending to think it over they then shake their head and gives Vel a confused look, before heading to the counter and replying.

"Not at all, I haven't been through here before as I recall, why have we met? I admit I have spent some time travelling and we may have met some time outside of Chesed. I assure you we are not here for Technic League Business at all but for matters more personal. We seek a wuest into the Worldwound against evil most vile and need a connection with Ingret Jor amongst others of fine upstanding establishments such as yourself.

So my friend, how can we help each other here? We need your recommendation and your aid in our quest to cleanse the Worldwound, what can we do for you in return?"

take your first dose after you have left.

Once outside, you can open and read the note
The League watches Ingret.
Not all in their employ were hired. Some are slaves.
Inform the Wayward Eagle that we watch his actions and approve.

Vel reopens his shop and ushers you towards the door.

Arathorn nods and takes the 'prescription' from the Gnome. With a smile the ranger thanks the Apothecary before indicating they should leave the shop now. Turning briskly they leave the shop and with a careful look to ensure they are not being observed he reads the note before palming it to Tortuga to read.

"Well that was enlightening, he says casually after taking his 'dose of medicine.' "Well Ingret is being observed so we will need to be careful when talking with her openly. Though we may be able to injure the league by freeing some of their forced membership."

You leave the shop and head back towards the Fleshward.

The light breeze blowing down from the Lake of Mists and Veils is barely enough to keep the air breathable in the Fleshward. The stink of so many bodies in packed living conditions combined with the poor drainage making for a pungent stew. While market stalls and storefronts still crowd the streets here as in the rest of the city, the clientele are of a noticeably rougher cut. Small scuffles sometimes create small pockets in the press of bodies, which the locals rarely pay a second glance—as if these altercations were part of everyday haggling.

Nose hardly wrinkling at the smell of enclosed bodies, the Worldwound ranger surveys the chaotic Fleshward markets with a ghost of a smile, this being a place much better to his liking. Seeing that it is close to boiling over, the disguised elf concurs with Roc and then splits off from their group, attempting to blend in and assist Pandora through mob mentality. Trying to seek out the cause of this greater than usual disturbance he attempts to move through the crowd. Using the magic of his hat to better blend in.

The oldest thug looks up at Pandora and Vinnie.

But the thugs run off into the crowd or alleys away from the party before you get closer.

The young dwarf catches his breath, then looks to Pandora. They were just picking on me, until you guys showed up and talked them down. Thank you. They pick of people, they don't care who.

He starts to talk about the bullying he suffered last week, then stops and goes back to his first thought.

So, are you guys adventurers? I always wanted to grow up and be one. Where have you guys been. What are you doing here? Can I touch carry your sword or bow and arrows or something?

He rambles question after question. You can tell he is enamored by you.

Well, their bravado only lasted so far, now these bodies are far too close. Kai thinks to himself as he carefully makes his way through the crowd towards his current allies. Seeing them talking to a dwarf he smiles and approaches. His appearance is subtly changed to match the complexions of a man from Chesed.

"Well done on calming that pot of bother, that could have brought unwanted attention! Well met lad, the first thing you need for the life of adventure is a strong willing spirit and you have that down! Say, that gang, do they have an allegiance?"

With a stage performer's flourish, Kai pulls forth a dagger as if from nowhere and flips it, passing it to the Dwarf hilt first.

"I know it isn't my sword, but keep that."
