Maximo Interresante |
"Lady Eadie, I have come to rescue you!" Maximo calls back to his brave companion. "And these poor souls too it would seem."
Moving to the stairs, he calls upon his holy faith to heal the wounded.
Unable to edit map at the moment. Being at the stairs should get me in range to heal Eadie and all the chained up captives.
Channel Energy: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3) = 5 Well that was sad...
Eadie Navhelan |
I’ll take it, Maximo! (I don't think Eadie can see into Room G yet ...)
“Lore, is that you?”
Eadie sounds shaken to her core. “What did those monsters DO to your pretty tinkly voice? You sound kinda old, decrepit and … dare I say it … almost masculine!”
The warrior shakes her head. “Nobody should have to go through life sounding like that! But never fear, Sweet Heart. We shall find some way to cure you, by Abadar I swear it!”
GM Aarvid |
@Eadie and Maximo - both of you have line of sight to the chained prisoners...Eadie from 30' below in the well, and Maximo from inside the room. However, Eadie and Maximo cannot see each other since she is below the bottom of the barred opening.
GM Aarvid |
Lore continues down the stairs after Maximo.
Eadie flies around, staying between the 2 dispelling bands.
Maximo moves up to the bars and channels a bit of healing into Eadie (and the 3 prisoner's unless he tries/can exclude them).
Caradeum, Turg, Chochok...
Eadie Navhelan |
Lore sell pet leads near trolls, my lady??
Whoa! Whatever took Lore’s voice must have hit her head as well. Better humor her …
“Er … yes! If you can hear Abadar’s voice more clearly, you can carry out His Will trusting that He will safeguard you from danger.”
@GM Aarvid, by the look of the map there is a dispelling band just below the -80’ level. So Eadie should be fine at -95’?
GM Aarvid |
@Eadie - yes, originally on the south side of the well, I had her between 100'-110' down, so if she climbed some as she moved north, 95' is fine. Then she is only 15' down from the bottom of the chamber Maximo entered
I have updated map with Eadie and Caradeum flight elevations. I was not as sure about Turg/Snave's desired location and elevation
Caradeum Genwyllian |
Caradeum fires across the pit at the jangle to west.
Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 12 - 2 = 14
Arcane Strike: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 12 - 2 = 26
Arcane Strike: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11
Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 2 = 10
Arcane Strike: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12
GM Aarvid |
Caradeum fires a trio of arrows, and one seems to hit. However, it seems to be partially deflected by the tough skin of the jangle.
Chochok curses as he fixes his weapon.
Bojangles moves 30' up the stairs and seeing Maximo is now closer than Eadie, he lets out a yell.
"Alert! Another of the intruders is into our workshop! My tools arise and attack!"
He causes the chains in his hands (or in the room) to attack the paladin.
On Maximo
chain: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23 for dmg: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 2 = 4
chain: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 for dmg: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5
chain: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 for dmg: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 = 7
chain: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 for dmg: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7
confirm: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 for dmg: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + 2 = 8
The original jangles causes one length of chain to reach upwards towards the bars and he climbs 15' up to get closer to Eadie.
The western jangles is actually 35' below Eadie, so out of reach to attack from his original position. He is within 20' reach now.
Eadie watches as the arrow wound from Caradeum partially closes.
"Come to me wench. I will make beautiful stripes on you. Your armor is hiding your true beauty and pain.
Party goes...
Lorelendral Teklet |
LOre runs anohter 40' toward the next level down.
Eadie Navhelan |
"Come to me wench. I will make beautiful stripes on you.”
“Ooooh, COOL! Do you mean like a tiger?”
"Your armor is hiding your true beauty and pain.”
“What you're saying is true!”
Eadie briefly looks down at her hardened steel shell. “Beauty is only tin deep!”
The warrior then turns her back on her tormentor and rising to an altitude of -85' (half-speed) charges NE 40' onto the steps, hoping to reacquaint Bo-jangles with Smashy. (attacks red)
Provokes from both Jangles. AC=24
L Hammer + Chaaaarge!: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 + 2 = 25
SMASHY!: 1d12 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Assuming she is not unconscious, Eadie notices Maximo on her backswing. “MAX! Am I glad to see you! Lore’s around here somewhere too. But be careful. I think she’s concussed and gone a little cra-cra.”
GM Aarvid |
Both jangles and bojangles will take their swings at Eadie.
AOO chain: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23 for dmg: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + 2 = 8
AOO chain: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 for dmg: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10
Bojangles just misses rapping the barbed chain around Eadie as she charges him on the stairs.
Jangles catches her from below and cuts deep behind her knee.
The silver hammer slams hard into the chest of bojangles, almost knocking him into the wall. He stands, but is visibly injured by the blow.
Eadie Navhelan |
hit points updated
@GM Aarvid, the green rune-ring looks to be juuuust below the -80’ level, so I’m thinking Eadie is still airworthy?
Feeling a little light-headed from blood-loss, Eadie grins through the pain at the paladin. “Maximo, you might wanta cover your ears.”
Without waiting for him to act she lets out a bellow. “TURG!! FEEL FREE TO JUMP IN AT ANY TIME!”
Maximo Interresante |
Suffering only a minor flesh wound from the chains, Maximo steps up behind Eadie and reaches out to touch her back.
"Shelyn, grant this lady warrior your blessing."

Lore keeps her little legs running after Eadie's attack.
@Eadie...your flying has not appeared to re-activate any of the glowing runes...yet. Muhahahaha. You know your swim skill for a 40' high dive is better if you remove your platemail. :-)
Chochok gives chase behind Lore.
Maximo moves up and heals Eadie of some of the chain cuts and lacerations that seem to be accumulating again.
Turg and Caradeum...
Eadie Navhelan |
A songbird’s uplifting trill fills Eadie’s ears as the paladin bestows Shelyn’s gift. “Thanks, Maximo! Watch your six. There’s another tangled, jangling thing headed this way.”
Eadie’s warning steers her thoughts to the Taldan’s heavy weapon. “I’m still trying to think up a name for my falchion, Maximo. Whadya think of: Split Heads NOT Parties?”
Turg |
"What, you're not done yet?" Turg responds. "Snave, as usual, I'd be able to help them, but you're in the way. I can't summon quickly keeping you here."
Turg wil keep aloft, but over the walkway in case the flying gives out, will begin casting another Summon Monster II, attaining 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Augmented Mites (in Turg's block) for Operation: Bumrush for Flanks next round.

@GM Aarvid, up-thread Cara mentioned he's vacationing overseas until Sept 3. Maybe he has limited web connectivity at the moment?
Botting suggestions include rapid shooting at one of the Jangles, or a double move hot on Chochok and Lore's heels.
GM Aarvid |
Seeing arrows only being partially effective and shooting into melee, Caradeum gives chase down the stairs after Lore and Chochok.
will post their attacks tonight .
GM Aarvid |
Bojangles stares at Eadie and decides it is time to finish her.
"Let's see how you like this!"
On Eadie. AC24 from charge?

Lore continues running down stairs as fast as she can, trying to get to Eadie.
Eadie Navhelan |
Yep, AC=24 for last attack (2 hits for 12 hp damage) Reverts to AC=26 for this round.
Eadie holds her ground and full attacks with power at the expense of finesse. She snarls back at the creature of chain and shadow, "Maybe a little better than you like this!"

Maximo's statblock is correct. AC 26.
"I'll be right with you!" Maximo calls politely to Jangles as he continues to bolster both his and Eadie's health with pure holy faith.

Hunched over, with Smashy's head planted atop the ledge's steps, Eadie *snorts* before straightening up to her full 5'6" in height.
Anticipating the paladin's tactic, she cries "Max! A little higher and to the left this time, if you please."
**FLASH OF MAXIMOZED FAITH HEALING**
"Yep, riiiight there."
Looking over her shoulder to nod her thanks, Eadie notices Jangles hanging tightly from the cell's bars.
She gestures with a thumb. "What would you call those things? Kling-ons?"
Turg |
The Mites from the previous round appear, though the limited close range of the spell limit the "Operation: Fey Shield," and can merely provide flanking. They utilize climbing prowess and attempt to aid Eadie's next first swing.
1: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 2 = 18
2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Turg, in the meantime, sits atop the vine mess above the chain range. "There, now you have some soldiers. Don't let these ones get annihilated by friendly fire."

Lore, Caradeum and Chochok continue their downward descent in the wake of Maximo. Feel free to check the 3 spoilers in my post to him as you move through each room, respectively.
Eadie makes a powerful swing with her hammer and brings the head of the weapon down the head of bojangles. He cries out as the red flicker in his diabolic eyes fades, with a smile....
"I will see you in H3LL !!!"
Maximo moves up and administers quiick healing to himself and slower backrub to Eadie.
Turg commands her minions to move into flanking formation.
Jangles sees that it is down to him. He commands the 4 chains to attack the true paladin, with loathing of the good Maximo represents.

Maximo Interresante |
"What would you call those things? Kling-ons?"
"Cling-ons?" Maximo considers Eadie's suggestion. "Hmm, they don't really cling. All these chains sound like musical bells. Perhaps we could consider calling them tinkle-bells? OUCH!" He flinches as a chain gives him a good lashing.
"It is well known in Avernus...'in-combat' healing is for the weak!!!
At Jingles' words, Maximo throws his head back and laughs. "You may correct that foolish notion once the Lady Eadie here returns you to that hellish place."

they were back on the 23rd .
Unlike the rooms above, this level shows every sign of being lived in. Dirt and grime have been cleansed, revealing an opulent suite even the most jaded decadent could call home. Firepelt rugs cover parquet flooring in the main chamber of a communal living area. Around the room stand fine mahogany tables, desks, and gilded chairs, and recessed shelves on the walls hold a trove of books and scrolls. Cloth-of-gold wall hangings show images of a serpentine goddess raining bounty upon her worshipers. An arch to the north overlooks the well, while smaller arches west and east contain downward and upward staircases. A number of closed doors lead off from the main room as well.
This room is dominated by a long wooden table with matching benches on either side of it. The table is long enough to fit a dozen or more diners at once, though less than half a dozen places are set at the moment. To the south, a wide counter stretches across the length of the room, broken by a half-door midway across. On the other side of this barrier a kitchen is arranged around a central fire pit. A sideboard contains a number of stacked plates and flatware. Stairwells provide exits from this room to the northwest and southeast.
Max and Eadie can see into this room from their new locations...
The scent of blood seasoned with herbal and floral notes assaults the nostrils. This room is laid out for function, not aesthetics, the walls hewn from dark granite and lined with hanging chains and manacles. The floor is bare but for a path of runes laid down the center, painted crudely in a dark brown pigment. A rack on the wall contains several varieties of whips, ranging from simple knotted lengths of rope to cats-o’-ninetails and knouts. Two arches lead to stairs at opposite ends of the room. A southeastern opening overlooks the well shaft, egress blocked by iron bars. From these bars hang three human forms, hands chained above their heads, facing out on the well. Patterns of half-healed runic scars decorate their naked backs.

Gonna assume the mites have climbed into position where they can Aid Another melee as per Turg's post. Please adjust if this is not kosher, GM Aarvid.
Eadie *hawks* and spits the bloody phlegm from her mouth at the creature's words. Too late she realises ... D'OH! I've left my visor down!
"You know the difference between you and me, pit-spawn? When I was alone I knew the others would come and rescue me. I just had to cling on until they did."

As Maximo laughs, Eadie joins in - somewhat hysterically with relief. If Jangles drops, her manic laughter ends as she drops Smashy and collapses onto all fours.
Caradeum Genwyllian |
Caradeum continues to careen down the tunnels, bursting into the landing and rising into the air to stay out of reach of the kyton.
Double move. Somewhere around "G", high enough to be out of reach, if possible.
GM Aarvid |
Jangles takes the hit from Eadie and her evil minions, but continues to stand on the chains outside the barred wall.
Chochok and Caradeum continue their chase down the stairs into the rooms Maximo traveled.
Maximo heals Eadie of a few more cuts.

Chochok finally makes it into the room with the others, raising his musket as he does so. "No need to wait for me, take these bastards out."

Jangles is about to retort when a salvo of force missiles strikes him and drops Jangles and his connected chains, clanking all the way into the water. With a splash he quickly sinks into the depths of the well.
Eadie drops to her knees sobbing at the loss of her future
