"So we need to look for this Dougonlir Caskmail at the wall of names and we have a password, 'wiffle'... I guess we're done here... He went to look for his friend, but he's been gone an awfully long time... hope he's okay."

![]() |

"Yeah. Sneaky old Fimbrik, huh?
Have any luck with those potions, TK?"

GM Hiyami |

Onto the Wall of Names! Ya'll can work on the detect magic/spellcrafts on the way. c:
The monument is a curving wall of black glass that stands atop a small hill at the western edge of the lodge’s grounds; Trees surround the hill, providing ample shade and privacy for those visiting the wall to remember fallen comrades. Carved into the wall are the name and date of death of every Pathfinder killed in the course of duty since the wall’s construction, and most entries also include a sentence or two summarizing either the agent’s greatest accomplishments or how he or she died. Several of these stand out.
Adolphus’ information leads you to the beginning of the wall. Scanning through the

GM Hiyami |

...;A; It was supposed to say: Scanning through the wall, you find three particularly interesting entries.

![]() |

Is Dougonlir Caskmail on the Wall of Names? If so, is one of the 3 Aspirant clues under that name?
"So, we should go to the Starstone? I don't think there just going to let us go see that. And I'm not sure I want to take the Test of the Starstone myself. Although... whaddya think? Effie Gee, Goddess of Gunplay! Got a nice ring to it, huh?"

GM Hiyami |

You're correct, I've adjusted the slides. I thought they'd copied all four pieces (apparently not), which is why I'd worded my post so sneakily. x_x I promise I'm not trying to be a butt. ;A;
After the group comes to an agreement, the party goes to the cathedral where the starstone lies. There're are spectators aplenty as a new challenger attempts the Test of the Starstone - Sir Reinhart of Kenabres, according to the all of the chatter.
The Shrine of the Failed, by contrast, is completely and utterly empty with its caretakers at the event. The monumental chamber stretches eighty feet from end to end, with a ceiling suspended thirty feet from the floor by great pillars. Seven arched passages lead to humble rooms, each of which contains a polished stone altar dedicated to one of the failed aspirants who attempted the Test of the Starstone.
Slides updated! Please place your tokens as you investigate the altars so I know which one you're eyeballing. c:

Ystrizz goes to the first one on the left, because why not?... and examines it...

Moved Effie
"So the clue on the wall under Caskmail's name said "Rot", right?"
Effie strolls into the Shrine, looking for any reference to "Rot."

GM Hiyami |

![]() |

"This one is for someone else, and doesn't mention 'rot'... " Ystrizz moves on toward another untended one.

![]() |

Ystrizz's whiskers twitch as he runs over to Glok. "Oooh, good eye, there... "
He reads the insciption on the memorial.

GM Hiyami |

Ystrizz sees that the inscription says, akin to what the party saw at the wall, that the aspirant had 'Survived the horrors of Nemret Noktoria.'

Effie reads the plaque.

Effie leans into the plaque, and says: "Wiffle."
That's the password, right?

GM Hiyami |

Yes, you can choose to take 20 minutes to search. c:
Despite Effie attempt at speaking the password, there is no reaction. As she moves closer to it, though, she notices that the nameplate looks as though it might be slid away instead of bolted into place like the others.
A quick examination proves her to be correct - the nameplate slides aside to show a thin, miniature chalkboard with the slightest bit of chalk resting on the lower edge of where the plate had been.

![]() |

"Maybe you write it, not say it?" the ratfolk suggests.

![]() |

"Oh, OK! Let's try that."
Effie writes "wiffle" on the chalkboard with the chalk fragment.

GM Hiyami |

Even as some of your number begin to more carefully examine the room, a stone doorway opens on the western side of the room, revealing a cavern made of stone. The area does grow darker the further in you see.

![]() |

"It gets dark in there... maybe we should all be together for this?" said based on map placement of people

![]() |

"This is very strange that such a passage would be created at this prominent place. I'm surprised it wasn't discovered earlier."

![]() |

"Do many people come here though Liao? I can understand visitors wanting to see the Cathedral itself, but 'shrine of the failed' doesn't seem like a big draw.
Everybody's here right? Let's go see what's hidden in the secret passageway!"
Effie draws her pistol and moves cautiously ahead.
I think everyone will need to move on the map. Feel free to go ahead of Effie :)

![]() |

"It's dark down there... anyone have a light?" Ystrizz moves behind Effie, but without light, doesn't try to pass her. "I'm right behind you, Effie... can you see in the dark? I can't."

![]() |

"I can see just fine in the dark. It's something to do with the fire inside of me. I don't really understand it. I'm sorry I don't have any torches. Anyone else?"

GM Hiyami |

*whistles cheerfully* There's no evil here, none! Why would there be evil down here? c: Just waiting for you guys to move forward. ^^

![]() |

Effie can see, Ystrizz only a little with low light vision... just waiting for Effie to move and hopefully someone to come up behind with a light.

![]() |

Effie moves down the passageway as quietly as she can manage.
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Both Liao and Terrorkrumel have posted suggesting that they've come closer to the secret passage, but haven't moved their tokens yet.

Ystrizz does his best to keep up with Effie and stay quiet.
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

GM Hiyami |

I'll allow those two to spawn within two squares of you? o: That said, I've adjusted the map for your movement. c:

![]() |

Pretty sure ratfolk have darkvision 60'? You can trade in darkvision for Surface Sprinter, which gives you lowlight vision and 30' speed instead of 20'. Is that what you did? Your sheet shows slow speed and darkvision.
Effie creeps forwards into the dark...
Moved on map.

![]() |

oops, you're right, ratfolk DO have darkvision.... for some reason I thought it was low light... thanks.

Effie creeps forwards slowly.

GM Hiyami |

Effie makes it forward without anything particularly scary happening. Given that nothing pops out or attack, she's reasonably sure that there's nothing lying in wait here - or, if there were, it would've come out already.

![]() |

"C'mon guys, I think it's safe. I mean if there's anything in here, it's been here for a long, long time. Oh..."
Gods, I hope not more undead. Please not more undead!
Effie moves further inside the tunnel.
Anyone got lights? Candles or torches maybe?

GM Hiyami |

As Effie moves further in, she notices a sudden shift in the lighting - as though the darkness is being broken up by a bit of dim light?
Turning the corner, she understands why. Several desks are arranged along the northern and eastern edges of this small stone alcove. Whereas the stonework leading to this chamber is rough, the walls in the alcove are polished. A single gem rests among the neatly filed papers on the desk, emitting a soft luminescence that brightens the small room - the source of the light she'd noticed.

![]() |

Ystrizz moves forward to examine the desk and it's papers... wary of traps along the way...
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

GM Hiyami |

Upon examining the papers, Ystrizz realizes that nearly all of it is in some sort of code - and the language isn’t common, that’s for sure. Still, all of the paperwork is neatly filed and carefully organized.

![]() |

"All these documents seem to be in code... and I don't get it... can any of you make sense of it?" he asks, hoping someone has 'linguistics' skill and can decipher it all... He's careful to keep the papers in order and neat in case their location and organization is part of the code.

![]() |

"Ugh. This little errand of the Captain's make me realise how much I don't know! Like that's what he wanted to tell us."
Effie tries to imitate Dreng's voice: "Just because you got yourselves Confirmed, don't be acting all high and mighty now! You're still plenty green!"
