Boron raises an eyebrow at Algar's words as he forms up besides Algar as best as he can. Moves to H13. Casted protection from evil last round.
"Yer calling it out?"

![]() |

At the start of his turn, Xantrian takes 5 damage off of the wounded crusader from the life link.
"Yes, rotate the battlefield. We define where the line is, not some stupid demon!"
Xantrian moves to L16, drawing his trusty wand of bless along the way. Then he casts bless on the party.
"C'mon crusaders. Don't be shy. Where are you?"
Gamin searches for more crusaders. Gamin Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 9

DM Amazing Red |

Missed that part. You do not spot any new crusaders this round.
You hear a voice. "You are arrogant. I will punish this arrogance by making you watch me kill your friends."
It takes to the air and hovers between Gregor and the wounded crusader. It then surges with energy and it's reflexes seem to be mythical before lashing out at the inquisitor.
PA: 1d20 + 16 - 3 ⇒ (6) + 16 - 3 = 19
But it overextends and misses.
Party up!

Magic Vestment on shield and armor (+1 AC each) +2 Natural Armor bonus from Plant Shape (all current spell effect are listed under the spoiler Daily Resources SDC / I also listed on the 1st page of the game thread the list of buff and duration i casted just before the 1st encounter when we were in the battle district)

DM Amazing Red |

Got it on Magic Vestments. But Plant Shape is a polymorph effect which means you lose access to your physical armor and shield.
When you cast a polymorph spell that changes you into a creature of the animal, dragon, elemental, magical beast, plant, or vermin type, all of your gear melds into your body. Items that provide constant bonuses and do not need to be activated continue to function while melded in this way (with the exception of armor and shield bonuses, which cease to function). Items that require activation cannot be used while you maintain that form. While in such a form, you cannot cast any spells that require material components (unless you have the Eschew Materials or Natural Spell feat), and can only cast spells with somatic or verbal components if the form you choose has the capability to make such movements or speak, such as a dragon. Other polymorph spells might be subject to this restriction as well, if they change you into a form that is unlike your original form (subject to GM discretion). If your new form does not cause your equipment to meld into your form, the equipment resizes to match your new size.
So you'd lose your armor/shield bonuses and you'd lose the ability to cast spells. I obviously missed the part when you cast plant shape.

![]() |

Really ? the form i have assume is that of a humanoid plant. seems kind of stupid high level ability which mean i remove my armor , meld into form then put armor back on. But you are right it does say (items that provide constant bonuses and do not need to be activated continue to function while melded in this way (with the exception of armor and shield bonuses, which cease to function). I can bypass this since i can use my wood armor (that i can enchant also with magic vestment for a total of +8 Armor bonus / but if i can't pick and use the shield it a big loss for just +2 natural armor bonus...)

DM Amazing Red |

Well the ability also gives you str/con and the natural attacks of the plant creature form you're taking. For a battle oracle like you, yea it's not that great, unless you get captured or something. You can use your wood armor ability with it though. You basically have the same problem melee-druids have.

![]() |

quick question: what is preventing me from removing armor + shield then shift into the humanoid medium size plant then re equipping myself with armor and shield ? ( it would just mean that i need natural spell or eshew material feat in order to use the ability.) i'll adjusut combat stat with out the plant shape. I still have ac 32 ..

DM Amazing Red |

You'd need armor specially made for a plant creature. Even a plant creature that is human-like is vastly different than a humanoid so you'd need a spare set of armor for when you plant shape. The shield is doable either way. So you have AC 32 and the crit doesn't confirm so you take 21 from the hit.

![]() |

Reviewing my spell list they are all V,S . Divine power has also DF as do the summon monster. Since a humanoid plant form has speach i can therefore use V,S spell as well as DF ( Oracles do not need to provide a divine focus to cast spells that list divine focus (DF) as part of the components.). i'll take your word for it about the armor but i think pathfinder assume that magical armor refits to same size category. After all we do take armor off from rather tall (medium size 1/2 orc) and give them to dwarves (rather small and much wider) or to elves etc...

![]() |

Not that any of this matters, since you can't be a templated creature anyway under a polymorph spell unless you have a special ability that lets you do so. A fungal nymph is just what Bestiary 4 uses as an example of a Fungal Creature.

At the start of my turn, life link triggers and takes 5 damage off of Algar onto me.
"You wish to try to stop me from helping injured crusaders? Well guess what? You won't like me when I'm healing!"
Upon saying that, Xantrian becomes a transparent outline of himself, with light pouring throughout his body. He looks as if he was brimming to the tip with positive energy, almost like he became a positive energy elemental.
Xantrian spends a standard action to turn on energy body, then spends a move action healing himself. Since he has 10 damage, his static mods on healing himself will take care of the damage. Then he takes a 5 foot step to K15.
"Well now you've done it. Every demon on this battlefield is going to come over here. Hey crusaders! Pay attention to the bg glowing stupid aasimar! Hi! We want to help you! Don't make him turning into a stupid beacon for nothing!"
Gamin attempts to search for more injured crusaders.

Saved by the bell, Xantrian.
With so many of their siege weapons destroyed by the crusader's defenses, the demon army breaks and slowly withdraws. The battle is won, for now. The surviving crusaders cheer as they cut down the fleeing enemy and tend to their wounded.
The dust settles and surviving Pathfinders find their way back to the Starrise Citadel. Dozens lie wounded, some bearing injuries that may prove fatal. Smoke chokes the air as crusaders continue to douse still-burning buildings whose flames are now mercifully under control.
Venture-Captain Jorsal silently walks up and down the lines of Pathfinders. He rarely speaks, only giving an understanding nod or a comforting smile. The arrival of a squad of battered crusaders from the center of the city breaks the grim moment. At their head rides a stern woman bedecked in shining full plate engraved with intricate gold filigree. Her weapon is coated in what must be demonic ichor, and several of her helmet’s once beautiful blue plumes are charred. This can only be Queen Galfrey, crusader queen of Mendev and leader of Nerosyan.
She brings her entourage to a halt and addresses the assembled Pathfinders. “Words cannot express the gratitude of Mendev. What your Society has done here today goes well beyond what duty required. I have learned that this attack was just one of many in a coordinated assault against all of Mendev, and that our wardstones have failed us, disabled by some demonic treachery. Our city only stands thanks to the efforts of those such as yourselves. I have spoken with Venture Captain Jorsal, and Mendev shall do whatever it can to aid you in reaching the Sky Citadel of Jormurdun — so long as doing so does not interfere with the new war."
“Now, I must depart for the city of Kenabres to inspect the damage done there. Woefully, it did not have the benefit of the Pathfinder Society’s assistance when it was assaulted, and all reports indicate the city is now completely ruined.”
She pauses, worry visible on her face before concluding, “Thank you, all of you for your efforts here today.” Without another word, Queen Galfrey and her entourage turn and leave. The remaining Pathfinder survivors stand united, under the still-brilliant light of the Starrise Spire.
***
Unable to breach the walls of the city with the bulk of their primary army, the demons broke into a full retreat. The crusaders are ready
to strike back against the demons in the days to come.
Congratulations Pathfinders in your Overwhelming Victory!

I probably would've survived - my hit points were equal to it's average damage, and I die at -23. I couldn't have survived the round after though (and if there's a crit I'm pretty much dead). The reach was what was killing me, I think I typed a post where I withdrew three times, and each time I had to remind myself that reach would not make that work.
Sorry about the slow posting at the end, but I was at a con at the end, trying to post between slots. That plan didn't work out well when I was running Bonekeeps and going longer than expected.
