GM

jay Nods with Chin and Follow "Yeah, that don't seem right" Flying Eagle and Winona look over one of the downed cows. The animals are dead, eyes rolled back, lips pulled back from their teeth, no sign of breath as its nostrils and chest do not move, yet its belly rolls and pulses. Winona can even make out small cuts on its inside lips, they look to have begun to heal, maybe only a week old or so.

Female Human Seasoned | Pace 6 | Parry 5 | Toughness 7 (2) | 3/3 Bennies

"There's cuts on the inside of their lips, like they ate something that tore up their mouths. Check some of the live cattle, see if they have the same symptom. We could be in for a real bad time with the rest of the herd."

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Flying Eagle thinks back to when he was living with his tribe, to see if he can recall anything like this :

Common Knowledge & Wild: 1d4 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 4
ACE!: 1d4 ⇒ 1 = 5

What does he recall?

Parry: 8 (10); Toughness 6; Bennies 3/3; PP 15/15

Chin slowly gets off his horse and loops the reins around and looks at the large cattle as if deciding how best to go and check them without getting trampled.

GM

Flying Eagle has seen this before, Prairie ticks. Vile pests that crawl inside its victims and drink until its dead. He knows they wont stay in the cows belly long!

-----
Chin sees a few others hands heading toward the downed cattle, the herd keeps moving, flowing around them like rivers water around a stone. Jay Goodman stays on his horse "No, cattle dropping is never a good sign'

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

"I've seen this before with cattle that my tribe herded. These cows have cattle ticks, as we called them. They eat their prey from the inside out, and only leave once they've drunk all the host's blood. Depending on when they went in, some of them could be coming out soon."

Does he happen to know how to deal with these pests? If not, can others make Common Knowledge rolls?

Attack:
[dice=Fighting]d12[/dice] [dice=Wild]d6[/dice] [dice=Melee damage]2d4[/dice][dice=Raise Damage]d6[/dice]

Parry: 8 (10); Toughness 6; Bennies 3/3; PP 15/15

Chin takes a drink and looks for a place to tie up Betsy while they deal with whatever these ticks are.

GM

They are ticks the size of a rat (-4 size), They can be killed like normal and these barely move the only big issue is getting them out of victims before they die( castor oil will do it)

Yells can be heard from other hands as Bloated red ticks the size of a very fat rat start to crawl out of bloated cow bellies. The things are very bloated and barely move, but dozens now pour from the dead cows. some of the cowhands are starting to look panicked

Chin does not really have anything to tie his horse to, but can hand the rains to Jay or leave it a bit back.

Female Human Seasoned | Pace 6 | Parry 5 | Toughness 7 (2) | 3/3 Bennies

Winona grabs her shotgun and shouts, "I hope someone knows how to get the cows to puke up these ticks, otherwise they're gonna kill a bunch of the herd!"

She starts stalking the tiny terrors, blasting them to pieces whenever she spots one, and watching for falling cows so that she can kill the tick that emerges.

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Flying Eagle decides to try to save any still-living infected cows, and shouts to the cook and the medic (if we have one) "Do you have any castor oil on hand???"

Attack:
[dice=Fighting]d12[/dice] [dice=Wild]d6[/dice] [dice=Melee damage]2d4[/dice][dice=Raise Damage]d6[/dice]
Skills:
Agility- D8, Smarts- D6, Spirit- D8, Strength- D4, Vigor- D8; Athletics- D4, Com Know- D4, Fighting- D12, Notice- D6, Persuasion- D6-2 (-4), Focus- D6, Stealth- D8, Streetwise- D4
Parry: 8 (10); Toughness 6; Bennies 3/3; PP 15/15

Chin hands to the reigns to Jay and starts stumbling back to the ticks to stomp on the creatures that have come pouring out. "I do not..." He slurs out in response to Flying Eagle's question.

GM

Flying Eagle can tell at this stage they have been in the cows some time, unnoticed. Likely the cows that are now falling have been killed by the bloated Ticks

Flying Eagle can see a few hands running to check on the downed cattle, others do not seem to notice. Chin is stopping on the ticks and Winona is blasting them with her shotgun. However herd and gunfire do not mix and the the herd panics, you find yourself in the middle of a stampede!

You are now in the middle of a stampede, you, Jay good all and six others. You must make an evasion check, you can use athletics, ride if mounted or another skill as you try to not be trampled. you need to succeed three times to get out of the path of the rampaging cattle

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Do you mean we get three rolls, and must succeed *each* time to not get trampled? How about 2 out of 3? :)

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

Riding in to see what the commotion was, Rufus rides hard to try and turn the herd by shooting into the air, and using Devil Eye to physically bump cows to try and get them to change direction away from the ones on the ground.

What rolls should I make to try and help the ones on the ground without having been into the herd

Attack:
[dice=Fighting]d12[/dice] [dice=Wild]d6[/dice] [dice=Melee damage]2d4[/dice][dice=Raise Damage]d6[/dice]

Parry: 8 (10); Toughness 6; Bennies 3/3; PP 15/15

Do I get any bonuses from my Drunken Style that makes it harder to hit me when I am stumbling around?

Female Human Seasoned | Pace 6 | Parry 5 | Toughness 7 (2) | 3/3 Bennies

1. Athletics: 1d4 ⇒ 4
1. Wild die: 1d6 ⇒ 5

2. Athletics: 1d4 ⇒ 1
2. Wild die: 1d6 ⇒ 6

3. Athletics: 1d4 ⇒ 1
3. Wild die: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Trampled.

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

P.S. - and a Raise counts as two Successes... ;)

GM

@ flying Eagle you need three rolls to get out, every failed roll you get 2d6 damage that round. So ya know 2 out of three will get you almost out and slightly trampled ;) While a rise wont give you two successes I wll let it give you a +2 on the next roll

@Rufus I will allow riding or trade in a relevant skills. Every action you pass I will give the others a +2 for aid as you try and move the herd out of the way

@ Chin , Sure. I find the idea of stumbling though the stamped as if drunk funny and fitting. You get a +2

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Athletics & Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 1 = Failure
If Rufus fails his action this "round"...
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 = no damage anyway

Athletics & Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 6
ACES!: 1d6 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 1 = 9, Raise

Athletics & Wild,+2 from previous Raise: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 = Success

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

Round 1

riding: 1d8 ⇒ 1
wild: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Rufus has some difficulty in pushing Devil Eyes into the cows as they are moving fast.

Round 2

riding: 1d8 ⇒ 6
wild: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Rufus gets into the herd and starts to push some away from the people on the ground.

Round 3

riding: 1d8 ⇒ 8
wild: 1d6 ⇒ 4

wild exp: 1d8 ⇒ 7 =15, 2 Raises.

Pushing hard into the cows to try and turn the herd, Rufus gets a few more on the move.

Attack:
[dice=Fighting]d12[/dice] [dice=Wild]d6[/dice] [dice=Melee damage]2d4[/dice][dice=Raise Damage]d6[/dice]
Skills:
Agility- D8, Smarts- D6, Spirit- D8, Strength- D4, Vigor- D8; Athletics- D4, Com Know- D4, Fighting- D12, Notice- D6, Persuasion- D6-2 (-4), Focus- D6, Stealth- D8, Streetwise- D4
Parry: 8 (10); Toughness 6; Bennies 3/3; PP 15/15

Round 1

Chin stumbles around randomly trying to avoid the on coming cattle.

Athletics: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Wild: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Round 2
Chin looks like he might throw up his breakfast and stumbles wildly backwards with one hand clutching his stomach.

Athletics: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Wild: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Round 3

Chin catches his balance and then stumbles forward to escape the herd.

Athletics: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Wild: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Athletics Explosion: 1d4 ⇒ 2

So 7, 7 and 8 are my totals for the three rounds.

GM

Okay round 2 and three you got a +2 from Rufus. Which means Winona does not fail, No luck for Flying Eagle though. You still need One more to get out

Winona weaves though the stamped and barely avoids being trampled, Chin weaves though the Herd like a lucky drunk, looking somewhat comical but Flying eagle, Kendrick and Danial fail to get clear. Both Kendrick and Flying eagle are just pushed around a bit, but Danial is not so fortunate and is Trampled by the herd, vanish under dust and hooves.

Kendrick Athletics: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Athletics: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Athletics: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Susanne Athletics: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Athletics: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Athletics: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Danial Athletics: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Athletics: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Athletics: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Trample 1 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
Trample 2 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 ace: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Athletics & Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 5

Flying Eagle finally makes his way free from the herd.
