"Hmm - not bad, although they didn't exactly rush us last time we tried to lure them into a trap."

Male Thri-Kreen Monk 1, Centered Breath, Wasteland Nomad

T'klik stands up, and regains his composure. if there is time to second wind "Last time, they run from us. Now they hear noise, and come to see what was."

You're still in combat rounds, so you'll need to wait for your turn. The advantage is yours at this point, given your very rapid dispatch of the drakes.

Male Dray Swordmage 1

So, Monoc.

Male Goliath Barbarian 1

Hi guys - just got back from a weekend snowboarding. Was awesome but the lodge, unexpectedly, didn't have wifi. What decade is this, anyway?

Monoc's blood is up and after Shamash smashes the last drake to the floor, the half-giant leaps the corpse and charges up the stairs. Fresh blood, fresh kill! The kreen's sensible advice comes, too late. He stops at he top of the stairs and surveys the scene, ready to call on the legendary toughness of his people if the silt people are ready with an ambush.

Move to top of the stairs. Ready action to use Stone's Endurance (You gain resist 5 to all damage until the end of your next turn) if any of the creatures at the top of the stairs are in position to attack.

Sorry, there will be a bit of a delay. My first child was born at the weekend :

Male Dray Swordmage 1

Congrats! Goodbye sleep. And as excuses go, it's a good one.

Male Goliath Barbarian 1

That's awesome! Congratulations, and come back when you can or want to :)

Male Human Awakened Psion 1

Congratulations :) Another gamer arrives - not that I'm assuming you'll be teaching him maths using polyhedral dice and basic literacy using character sheets.

Slowly working on the map as and when I can!

Monoc stops at the top of stairs and finds himself in a ruined building open to the sky, with walls made of the same grey stone as the tombs below. A rather startled silt runner stands in the ruined entrance.

>>>>MAP OF THE RUINS<<<<

The difficult terrain markers represent rubble. The walls provide cover to everyone, and total concealment to Small creatures

Male Goliath Barbarian 1

Monoc gestures for the others to follow him, and hopes they will react before the silt-runner can run to warn the others.

Has Monoc used his full action, or can he try to incapacitate the runner in some fashion?

You have used a move action. So, you still have a standard(or a move or a minor, as per usual) and a minor left.

Male Goliath Barbarian 1

Monoc stares at the silt runner for endless seconds, brain churning. With a low snarl the huge barbarian hurls himself forwards, hands outstretched to stop the silt runner from fleeing.

Run action to move to Q6 (grant combat advantage until next turn). Use action point to grab the runner. Strength vs Ref: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.

Male Goliath Barbarian 1

Oh well, nice idea anyway...

Don't forget that when you run you take a -5 penalty to attack rolls until the start of your next turn and enemies gain CA against you.

Male Goliath Barbarian 1

So that was an even lower percentage move than I thought! Still, was the only way I could see to have a chance of maintaining surprise. So, Monoc is next to the runner, with a grab roll of 4, and grants combat advantage. And is on his own. Oops.

Male Dray Swordmage 1

Yay, our expert planning comes to fruition once more!

Male Human Awakened Psion 1

We are mighty tacticians :D

Male Dray Swordmage 1

So - who's next?

So Ojal and Lemris next. Not sure where the silt runner comes in initiative. Maybe it will just faint with fear at Monoc's sudden appearance. In fact, intimidate might have been a better option than my complete failure of a plan.

Sorry, Ojal and I have spent this week running a summer school in theatre for 26 kids. Will update today hopefully.

Male Human Awakened Psion 1

Somewhat startled by Monoc's abrupt disappearance and the ruckus above, Ojal heads to the bottom of the stairs.

Double move to see what the heck is going on.

Ojal heads to the bottom of the stairs and looks up to see... sky.

Lemris shoves past Ojal, "We better help him, 'potter', he's bound to find trouble." and heads up the stairs.

It's still your go.

Male Thri-Kreen Monk 1, Centered Breath, Wasteland Nomad

Nope, that's my move and standard. I posted it before, but couldn't perform them because we were still under initiative. I had to wait until now to actually DO them.

Taanak and Shamash are up.

T'klik stands up and reasserts himself.

Male Athasian Elf Shaman 1

Taanak moves closer to the stairs, but waits for the more martially inclined to lead the charge.

Move to X14. Going defensive. No other action.

Male Thri-Kreen Monk 1, Centered Breath, Wasteland Nomad

If you have any healing available I could use some, but I know it's not worth it if you can't have the spirit heal another as well.

I only get two heals per encounter and I've already used one. Just play it safe and I'll see if I can't catch you with the spirit heal when someone else takes a hit.

The shaman joins the rest of the group near the stairs and adopts a defensive posture.

Shamash?

Male Dray Swordmage 1

I'll double move up to P16 behind Monoc (assuming I have the movement for that) and then mark the runner.

Silt Runner Rager shifts back 1 and attacks Monoc with Brutal Spear:
1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 204d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 5) + 6 = 20
20 damage to Monoc (15 with Stone's Endurance)

The silt runner squeals in alarm and jumps back, before prodding at Monoc.

Male Human Awakened Psion 1

Ojal moves past Lemris and blinks as the bright light of the Athasian sun hits him. It's more than his attack does.

Move past Lemris so he can get a clear shot at the silt runner
Mind Spike (Will)
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Fergit it.

Male Goliath Barbarian 1

16 HP remaining. Stones endurance until end of Monoc's turn.

Monoc grunts as the blade pierces his hide, but snarls and steps forward anyway. He strikes at the foe in front of him, feeling revitalised by the combat...

Resurgent strike (AC): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16; damage 2d12 + 6 ⇒ (8, 4) + 6 = 18. Monoc gains 3 temp hit points.

Darter makes readied poison dart attack vs Monoc's Fort:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 202d10 + 3 ⇒ (3, 9) + 3 = 15
With Stone's Endurance Monoc takes 10 poison damage and is immobilised (se)

Another silt runner shoots a poison dart into Monoc and the half ginat finds his legs paralysed. He does, however severely wound the spear-armed runner in front of him, who snarls and spits in fury.

R1 bloodied.

Lemris narrows his eyes and sighs.

"Right, time to play for keeps."

He intones some arcane syllables and a ball of fire appears, rippling and roaring next to the runner. The reptile man squeals as his skin burns.

Flaming Sphere - Effect: You conjure a Medium flaming sphere that occupies a square within range, and the sphere attacks. Any creature that starts its turn adjacent to the sphere takes 1d4 + Intelligence modifier fire damage. As a move action, you can move the sphere 6 squares.

T'klik rushes up the stairs to see what they are dealing with. Seeing that the group is inside a small building, he let's fly with his recently drawn and loaded sling. "Monoc, stay in man walls, we can defend like jankz in it burrow."

Move to N15, Free draw sling, Minor load sling, Standard attack R11d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24, damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.

R1 dead.

T'klik lets fly and the stone strikes the silt runner in the head, and the little lizardman falls to the ground with a horrid head wound.

Male Goliath Barbarian 1

Monoc slumps to the ground beside the ruined doorway, pierced with envenomed darts. The half-giant's hands scrabble feebly against ancient stone as he tries ineffectually to pull himself back into cover.

Male Dray Swordmage 1

Move to S14. Mark D1 with my Aegis and hit him with Foesnare. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 to hit and 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 damage, and if I hit it is immobilised.

That's bound to be a miss, so...

Shamash bounds past Monoc and swings wildly, and inaccurately, at the darter that just poisoned him.

Yep, a miss.

The dray emerges from the ruined building and finds himself in a larger complex of ruins, with paved pathways connecting each. The darter yelps in surprise as it dodges Shamash's attack.

Male Athasian Elf Shaman 1

Taanak races up the stairs to join the fray, preceded by his scorpion companion.

Move to N17, scorpion to O16.

Taking stock of his allies' wounds, he calls upon the healing winds once more to mend Monoc's injuries. The scorpion shudders, echoing the breeze to soothe the thri'kreen as well.

Healing spirit on Monoc. Monoc spends a surge. Scorpion heals T'klik for 1d6 ⇒ 1. (EDIT: Crap. I tried.)

Taanak can't get to the point where he can see the combat and still do anything functional now, so I guess that's me done for the round. Can the spirit of Athas move like my scorpion companion? Or is it stationary once placed? If it can move with me, I'd like to bring it to N16.

The Spirit of Athas is stationary.

Taanak joins his comrades in the ruins, and he once more sees the open sky. The ghostly scorpion joins him, scuttling silently up the stairs.

Nope. Darter shifts and attacks Shamash with blowgun vs AC:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 131d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Miss.

Shamash sees another runner dart down the gap between two ruined buildings. The snarling reptile-man stabs Shamash hard, and sneers with satisfaction. The darter backs away hurriedly and fumbles with its blowgun.
