Monoc One-eye |
Hi guys - just got back from a weekend snowboarding. Was awesome but the lodge, unexpectedly, didn't have wifi. What decade is this, anyway?
Monoc's blood is up and after Shamash smashes the last drake to the floor, the half-giant leaps the corpse and charges up the stairs. Fresh blood, fresh kill! The kreen's sensible advice comes, too late. He stops at he top of the stairs and surveys the scene, ready to call on the legendary toughness of his people if the silt people are ready with an ambush.
Move to top of the stairs. Ready action to use Stone's Endurance (You gain resist 5 to all damage until the end of your next turn) if any of the creatures at the top of the stairs are in position to attack.

Monoc One-eye |
Monoc stares at the silt runner for endless seconds, brain churning. With a low snarl the huge barbarian hurls himself forwards, hands outstretched to stop the silt runner from fleeing.
Run action to move to Q6 (grant combat advantage until next turn). Use action point to grab the runner. Strength vs Ref: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.

So Ojal and Lemris next. Not sure where the silt runner comes in initiative. Maybe it will just faint with fear at Monoc's sudden appearance. In fact, intimidate might have been a better option than my complete failure of a plan.

Lemris shoves past Ojal, "We better help him, 'potter', he's bound to find trouble." and heads up the stairs.

If you have any healing available I could use some, but I know it's not worth it if you can't have the spirit heal another as well.
I only get two heals per encounter and I've already used one. Just play it safe and I'll see if I can't catch you with the spirit heal when someone else takes a hit.
Fabes DM |
Silt Runner Rager shifts back 1 and attacks Monoc with Brutal Spear:
1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 204d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 5) + 6 = 20
20 damage to Monoc (15 with Stone's Endurance)
The silt runner squeals in alarm and jumps back, before prodding at Monoc.

16 HP remaining. Stones endurance until end of Monoc's turn.
Monoc grunts as the blade pierces his hide, but snarls and steps forward anyway. He strikes at the foe in front of him, feeling revitalised by the combat...
Resurgent strike (AC): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16; damage 2d12 + 6 ⇒ (8, 4) + 6 = 18. Monoc gains 3 temp hit points.

Darter makes readied poison dart attack vs Monoc's Fort:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 202d10 + 3 ⇒ (3, 9) + 3 = 15
With Stone's Endurance Monoc takes 10 poison damage and is immobilised (se)
Another silt runner shoots a poison dart into Monoc and the half ginat finds his legs paralysed. He does, however severely wound the spear-armed runner in front of him, who snarls and spits in fury.
R1 bloodied.
Fabes DM |
Lemris narrows his eyes and sighs.
"Right, time to play for keeps."
He intones some arcane syllables and a ball of fire appears, rippling and roaring next to the runner. The reptile man squeals as his skin burns.
Flaming Sphere - Effect: You conjure a Medium flaming sphere that occupies a square within range, and the sphere attacks. Any creature that starts its turn adjacent to the sphere takes 1d4 + Intelligence modifier fire damage. As a move action, you can move the sphere 6 squares.

T'klik Chik |
T'klik rushes up the stairs to see what they are dealing with. Seeing that the group is inside a small building, he let's fly with his recently drawn and loaded sling. "Monoc, stay in man walls, we can defend like jankz in it burrow."
Move to N15, Free draw sling, Minor load sling, Standard attack R11d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24, damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.
Shamash |
Move to S14. Mark D1 with my Aegis and hit him with Foesnare. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 to hit and 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 damage, and if I hit it is immobilised.
That's bound to be a miss, so...
Shamash bounds past Monoc and swings wildly, and inaccurately, at the darter that just poisoned him.
Taanak Dunestalker |
Taanak races up the stairs to join the fray, preceded by his scorpion companion.
Move to N17, scorpion to O16.
Taking stock of his allies' wounds, he calls upon the healing winds once more to mend Monoc's injuries. The scorpion shudders, echoing the breeze to soothe the thri'kreen as well.
Healing spirit on Monoc. Monoc spends a surge. Scorpion heals T'klik for 1d6 ⇒ 1. (EDIT: Crap. I tried.)
Taanak can't get to the point where he can see the combat and still do anything functional now, so I guess that's me done for the round. Can the spirit of Athas move like my scorpion companion? Or is it stationary once placed? If it can move with me, I'd like to bring it to N16.
Fabes DM |
The Spirit of Athas is stationary.
Taanak joins his comrades in the ruins, and he once more sees the open sky. The ghostly scorpion joins him, scuttling silently up the stairs.

R2 uses Brutal Spear on Shamash vs AC:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 234d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 3) + 4 = 20
20 damage to Shamash
Darter recharge?
1d6 ⇒ 3
Nope. Darter shifts and attacks Shamash with blowgun vs AC:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 131d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Miss.
Shamash sees another runner dart down the gap between two ruined buildings. The snarling reptile-man stabs Shamash hard, and sneers with satisfaction. The darter backs away hurriedly and fumbles with its blowgun.
