Dane puts his back to Mordesel, making sure that the monk doesn't get overwhelmed or surrounded. Not wishing to wake the dead if it could be helped, Dane whispers, "I'll watch your back, you watch mine, If you get into trouble, step aside and I'll get some strikes in your way."

I think I'm next to where Mordesel will be (right on the 8) but if not, go ahead and just move me to be next to you once you're off work, Mordesel.

Sion steps into the room with his blade out and stands between two of the coffins. "I think they awake to our presence. Be ready. We may be able to get them before they can stand up."

Assuming the coffins are flat on the ground. If I ready an attack would I get that AND an AoO from them standing up?"

I've taken the liberty of moving some tokens into the room. As you've assumed, combat will start shortly but I'll give it a little longer before starting. And yes, the coffins are flat to the ground, so a readied action would give both an attack and an AoO as they stand up.

Round 1 Begins

1=topleft;2=topright,3=lowleft,4=lowright: 1d4 ⇒ 4

A single coffin bursts open, revealing a barnacle-encrusted walking corpse. It looks like a zombie, but is dripping with water and gives off a nauseating stench. With a gurgling growl, it rise from its coffin, wielding a vicious looking greataxe in its dead hands.

Knowledge(religion) DC 12:
It's a Draugr, an intelligent, aquatic, zombie-like undead usually created from the body of a drowned sailor.
Knowledge(religion) DC 17:
Quite strong, the Draugr attacks can also cause nausea, as any wounds reek of rotten flesh and seaweed.
Knowledge(religion) DC 22:
Due to their aquatic nature, Draugr are resistant to fire. Piercing weapons are also less effective against them.

Other than Sion, everyone can act now, since you all beat the undead's low initiative. Sion is dedicated to his readied action, although he can change his mind and engage the newly risen undead on his initiative.

Init Order
Anton-> Dane -> Mordesel -> Durova -> Donovan -> Undead -> Sion
(I'm wondering why am I bothering to use numbers to track init by numbers. This way seems simpler)

I'm going to take an AoO on this guy. Combat Reflexes and a Reach weapon were made for this room me thinks. And agreed on the initiative order, GM, that's very easy to look at, clean to read.

Round 1

Seeing that the dead are rising even without the shrieker being a trigger, Dane quickly goes to work to cut down the corpse, brutally raising and lowering his weapon as he hacks at the body multiple times. Given that the warnings were that noise raised the undead, Dane does this with unnerving amounts of silence, the only noise being his accelerated breathing, and the rising and falling of the blade.

Well unless this is a zombie with really nice AC ...I think I got him! Don't think this guy can survive 56 Damage. :)

Wow. That was anti-climactic.
The draugr is reduced to a pile of pungent goo by Dane's attack.

The round passes otherwise uneventfully.

Whelp, given initiative, I'm guessing that's me.

Dane continues his blistering assault, raining blows down on the newest corpse, his silence continuing.

I am operating mobile right now, so if this one is out of my reach, I cannot see it. Ignore the AoO if so.

Once again, the undead is easily slain.
Dane is within 10ft reach of the undead. Honestly, with the amount of preparation and attacks you guys have, this is a non-encounter. Let's just skip ahead.
After slaying all four of the undead (which arise at different times) you glance around and discover that there is little of interest in the room. The armor they were wearing is next to useless and the coffins themselves are barely intact. With some cleaning, the greataxes could be salvaged (although at present they are encrusted with barnacles.)

There is one other door in the room, and that leads to a corridor and ends in another door.

For the first time, you notice that the door is reinforced with iron bands and (more surprisingly) is locked. This point is moot, however, as hanging beside the door on a peg is a heavy iron key.

The inscription reads: “Serve thy master well and be rewarded.”

Dsne stares at the door somewhat agape, "Well this just seems way too simple..." Dane waves a cautionary hand to earn everyone else stand back and closes on the key, watching for traps.

Upon hopefully reaching the key, Dane searches directly and it for traps.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Not trusting his senses entirely, Dane steps back and attempts to hook the key ring into the end of his weapon, standing back as far as possible.

If he retrieves the key without incident, Dane tosses the key to Timeon.

Timeon gives Dane a surprised look, but nods obediently and unlocks the door.

Inside is a standard sized chamber with no other doors. In the room is very spartan furnished, including a wooden table and a single chair and a grubby straw bed. Some food supplies are in the corner.

As the door opens, a man is waiting for you. He is wearing the uniform of the Knights of Alerion as well as armour. He looks ready for combat, armed with sword and shield. Around his neck is holy symbol of Mitra, made from silver and sapphire

Timeon lurches forward, calling out "Sir Balin! Thank Mitra thank you are unharmed!"

The knight glances at Timeon, his frown unmoved, and then his companions.
"Timeon! Get away from those fiends!" he cries out, noticing your unholy symbols (well, that and other giveaway clues).

This guy's almost certainly a Paladin, don't think we're going to succeed in talking our way past Detect Evil.

Dane's smile turns wide and nearly feral as he sees the moment that he always hopes for; the moment in which he sees a man crushed as the Ireans take everything from them, that moment of hope dashed on the rocks. Dane spurs himself forward and wields his blade in a way atypical for himself, and thrusts it forward towards Timeon's midsection, looking to completely run him through.

Initiative Order
Donovan -> Sir Balin -> Mordesel -> Sion -> Dane -> Anton -> Durova

Sir Balin, while certainly on his guard, was not expecting combat so suddenly. What I'm going to do is allow the actions above to be 'surprise round' actions and then we go into Round 1. I doubt a map is necessary for this combat. Timeon is next to useless so he is pretty much a non-combatant.

Dane rushes at the knight, but Sir Balin raises his shield expertly and blocks the blow. Durova buffs Sion, who then uses his Darkness ability, cloaking the area in gloom.
From this point on, both Sir Balin and Dane have a 20% miss chance on all attacks, since neither of them have darkvision nor low-light.

Round 1
Donovan stays at the back of the group and tries to snipe Sir Balin with his cantrip.

Mordesel smiles a wicked smile. He reaches into his pouch, pulling the an obsidian orb from his pocket. As soon as it clears the pouch, everything goes black. Can you light him up like you did Blackerley . . . for Dane? he says as he steps into the room, going around the man to stand behind him.

I'm attempting to flank him with Dane.

Mordesel can flank, but unless you're willing to provoke an AoO, you'll need to spend a double action to get there.
Note that the orb of darkness is of little use because Sion has already used his Darkness ability and (as stated in the Core Rules) the Darkness spell does not stack with itself. Still, if you want to guarantee that there's no corner of the room with normal lighting, it's a wise thing to do.
One more thing, Faerie Fire will not help here since (I just checked it), it has no effect on a 2nd level or higher darkness effect.

It's all good, I've suffered far greater mistakes than this, and since everyone else takes no penalty for Darkness, a penalty against me is still definitely a win for us in general. :)

Dane grins in response to the howl from Sir Balin. As the knight closes to engage, Dane sees an opportunity and takes it. Pulling Timeon and the Rhomphaia still embedded in the squire into position, Dane turns his back to Sir Balin, turns his head to keep an eye on him, and leverages the large sword against his shoulder, swinging it up and out of Timeon and towards Sir Balin.
