Vael Oakfist |

Vael ignores the now common tirade from Whistle Pig, instead noting the spell from his Varisian friend. "What do ye see?"

Dungeon Master S |

It takes a lot of intestinal fortitude to search the room and the giant, but in the end there seems to be nothing worth taking...

Raen Varkath |

"Nothing I ever wish to see again," Raen returns. She does not look at the hand. "Let us not linger here."

![]() |

"Now, what was that other room? dinning room? What kind of meal is that"
WP's curiosity gets the better of him as he goes to look at the 'main course.'
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

Doxon Greyforge |

Doxon walks over to what he assumes is the door to the larder. He taps it with his hammer.
Anybody home?

Dungeon Master S |

Doxon knocks on the door, while Whistle Pig leaves the room to check out the stuffed horse room.
Others?

Hamilton Renaud |

Is the Knowledge: Local related to Orcs? I can make a check if it is.
Ham will gather up that intestinal fortitude and make a search of the room. The giant was cutting up humans so there must be identifiers or belongings somewhere.
If I get a more specific pointer, I'll give a more specific search. But there must be bloody and soiled clothing or items about.
Perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
After:
Hamilton backs up Doxon, not knowing what might be beyond that door... Living or dead.
On three, Dox? One... Two...
Hamilton prompts Doxon to open the door, and he readies an arrow.

Dungeon Master S |

Repost of room description: A giant table spans the entirety of this long room. A headless, fire-blackened horse torso, eviscerated from throat to navel, lies atop the table. The hollow carcass is stuffed with an even more macabre offering of charred humanoid arms, complete with crisp and curled fingers reaching in vain for salvation.
As the halfling approaches the stuffed horse, one of the hands begins to move! The hand begins to move freakishly fast as it pulls itself out of the horse and goes after Whistle Pig! The giant rotting hand rocks unsteadily, propped upon thick, stubby fingers. Its pale, necrotic flesh pulses and crawls with sickly boils.
You guys hear a yelp from the dining room just a moment before opening the door! Something is attacking Whistle Pig!

Ushyle |

Ushyle shakes his head. Someday, little one, you'll learn to pack that curiosity away for safekeeping...
He looks over his shoulder, whispering We've got trouble here!, then moves in quickly, drawing Gorum's Thorn along the way, and hacks at the disembodied hand!
Gorum's Thorn, Power Attack/Furious Focus, vs. flat-footed AC: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Dungeon Master S |

Ushyle answers the halfling's call, bringing the large blade down. Flesh splits and pus erupts from the wound! Ushyle made a Reflex Save DC 15. If you pass you completely dodge the spray. If not...
You are nauseated for Rounds: 1d3 ⇒ 1 and you take Negative Energy DMG: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

Knowledge: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 I presume Religion, but if Arcana/Local add 4
Standard action pending Knowledge.

Dungeon Master S |

Sometimes A severed limb in an area of necromantic energy animates. Such things are disgusting as you've seen, but if not killed quickly, it'll crush Ushyle's wind pipe. ask 1 question

Raen Varkath |

Her only weapon being the wand in her hand, she concentrates carefully to pinpoint the conjured fire.
Flaming Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) = 4, DC 13 negates
Ugh. Well, it was bound to happen eventually.

Dungeon Master S |

Raen directs another charge from the wand REF: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 and the hand accidentally grabs it like a ball!
The hand skips Ushyle and goes after the one who startled it, Whistle Pig ATK: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 11 + 1 = 16 and despite the clumsy attack, claws him! DMG: 1d6 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13 The hand then tries to grab the halfling by the throat! CMB: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 14 + 1 = 34 and starts to choke him!

Vael Oakfist |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Vael moves towards the choking sounds, see's the situation, and musters some spiritual energy to leap the halfling out of danger.
Heaven's Leap on WP. That's how you break a grapple!

Doxon Greyforge |

Doxon hustles after everybody.

Dungeon Master S |

Hamilton and Doxon ditch the door for now to back up the impetuous halfling.
Vael tears a hole in space, and moves Whistle Pig to safety.
Round 2:
Raen: Go
Ushyle: Go
Enemy: TBD
Doxon: TBD
Vael: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Hamilton: TBD
Hand: 29

Ushyle |

Ushyle can't bring his blade up to strike again, since his mouth was open when the excretion from the hand hit. He coughs and tries to spit the bile out, five foot stepping almost instinctively to place himself between the party and the foe, waving the sword before him ineffectually.
Again: nauseated sucks.

Dungeon Master S |

Thankfully, you're no longer nauseated at the end of your turn.

Raen Varkath |

Raen mentally urges the fire back onto the hand, where it burns and burns and burns.
The Varisian herself is watchful for the hand's next leap.
Full defense.
Flaming Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) = 8, DC 13 Reflex negates

Dungeon Master S |

Ushyle pukes violently while Raen tries to protect herself. REF: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 again the flames sear the hand's flesh.

And like that the horror hand is no more.

Dungeon Master S |

Now that he can catch his breath, Whistle Pig knows that such undead hands are often accidents.
With Doxon and Hamilton back at the door (and a very excited Whistle Pig close by) they listen closely Using previous rolls and hear nothing.
If you're going to heal from the last fight, make it the first part of your next post.
Assorted foodstuffs were once likely stored in this large pantry. Today, the room contains several barrels of something. It's hard to tell since none of it is labeled.

Vael Oakfist |

I'm assuming that WP and Raen only lost temporary hit points. If either needs a heal, let me know.
"Do we want ta open barrels? Or shou' we just assume tha worst?"

Dungeon Master S |

Raen Varkath |

Raen grasps the necklace about her throat. An image of Staginsdar flashes across her vision, and she feels some of her magic restored.
