Dungeon Master S |
Whistle Pig now opens fire from behind. He hits the undead guard a few times, but does not drop the massive foe.
Hamilton steps forward, ready to defend.
Round 2:
Enemy: Breath and move
Whistle Pig: Hit
Raen: MM
Ushyle: Go
Vael: Go
Doxon: Kills
Hamilton: Defend
Black: 89
Ushyle |
DC 19 concentration w/heroism: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 13 + 2 = 27
Ushyle, blinded by the gholdako, tries to cast defensively if the GM allows it, the rules are ambiguous on it and turns invisible to all but Raen.
If the spell goes off successfully, he will move at half speed south along the wall to his left.
Dungeon Master S |
Ushyle, now invisible, runs his hand on the wall to a point he hopes is safe!
Round 2:
Enemy: Breath and move
Whistle Pig: Hit
Raen: MM
Ushyle: Magic
Vael: Go
Doxon: Kills
Hamilton: Defend
Black: 89
Vael Oakfist |
After Tulia lands atop his shoulder, Vael strides forward. He mutters a low chant, and stardust swirls around the remaining foe!
Stardust: -3 to attacks and sight-based perception checks. Lasts 11 rounds, no save. If he's sightless though, he's immune.
Dungeon Master S |
Vael's spell immediately causes the undead guardian to thrash to and fro. His rage is centered on Hamilton, eschewing the blind foe.
Bite: 1d20 + 17 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 17 - 3 = 30 for DMG: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Left Claw: 1d20 + 18 - 3 ⇒ (3) + 18 - 3 = 18 MISS
Right Claw: 1d20 + 18 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 18 - 3 = 31 for DMG: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (2, 8) + 7 = 17 And a FORT save
Round 2:
Enemy: ATK
Whistle Pig: Go
Raen: Go
Ushyle: Go
Vael: Go
Doxon: Go
Hamilton: Go
Black: 89
Hamilton Renaud |
Fort Save:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21... Looks pretty good...
Ham ducks just under bite and sidesteps a claw, into the other. He bites back the pain and launches into a series of attacks.
Power Attack w/Akargrim's Visage:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32, Damage on Hit:1d12 + 19 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 19 + (4, 4) = 32
Power Attack w/Akargrim's Visage:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20, prolly not, but 1d12 + 19 + 2d6 ⇒ (12) + 19 + (2, 5) = 38 on hit.
Ushyle |
Ushyle, still blinded, nevertheless reaches out to Milani, hoping she will help his companions as well.
Cast bless, +1 morale bonus to hit and to saves vs. fear. It ain't much but right now it's all I got.
Dungeon Master S |
Blinded, Ushyle does his best to cast a spell that will help, blessing the party and giving the field of slaughter the slight scent of roses.
Ham shrugs off the malfeaseance and strikes back! The blow is nearly enough to topple the guardian!
Round 2:
Enemy: ATK
Whistle Pig: Go
Raen: Go
Ushyle: Go
Vael: Bless
Doxon: Go
Hamilton: Hit!
Black: 89
Raen Varkath |
Nursing her few remaining spells, and uncertain of the utility of any against a blind foe, Raen pauses.
Delay until after Hamilton.
Whistle Pig |
WP lets the undead giants move past and at the right moment, he lets his slings fly!!
1st attack
attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33
1d6 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17

4th attack
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
1d6 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Dungeon Master S |
Whistle Pig's sling stones continue their grim work. By the time Hamilton piles on the extra wounds, the second undead guardian falls!
For defeating the twin gholdako, each hero earns 3,200 XP, though at the cost of Ushyle's vision.
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham would check on Ushyle, then call Vael over to see to him. After that, check out the creatures. Ham would use the axe to just give them a cursory poke--they sound disease ridden and gross. He's not going to make any direct contact, but if there's a scabbard or a pouch that can be cut from it and taken, he'll do that.
After that... Ham looks to WP and motions to the bridge. Let's take a look around.
Dungeon Master S |
The dead guardians have nothing in their possession. The party moves to Ushyle, but not Whistle Pig, who scouts ahead....
Beyond is a massive room, likely some kind of temple. Inside is a heavily armed and armored cyclops woman. She's currently casting spells and checking the buckles on her armor! She looks done. Whistle Pig estimates that he'd only get back with about 10 seconds to spare ahead of her.
Whistle Pig |
The Champions of Trunau are tired and start looking for a safe place to camp for the night. As they finish up the tasks of searching the bodies and checking the wounded, a loud eerie groaning comes from across the bridge. Another groan starts a second later, and then another a second after that. The tones interplay between themselves setting Hamilton's teeth on edge. The party looks across the bridge and sees nothing.
Suddenly, WP winks into sight, running as fast as his small legs can carry him; His backpack bobs haphazardly on his back,"She Giant!...*huff* Spellcaster, *puff*... in armor *gulping for air* heading this way." Pig winks back out of sight and looks to find a position of advantage.
Dungeon Master S |
The party has about 12 seconds before the subject of Whistle Pig's report is in visual range. You've got 2 rounds of actions.
Doxon: : 2 Rounds remaining
Hamilton: : 2 Rounds remaining
Raen: 2 Rounds remaining
Ushyle: : 2 Rounds remaining
Vael: 2 Rounds remaining
Whistle Pig: 2 Rounds remaining
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham grunts and nods.
Round 1: Pull and drink a potion of Haste.
Round 2. Move Forward and fire a short bow (+2) at her, despite the great distance.
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30, Damage on Hit:1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Vael Oakfist |
Vael moves forward, pulling a scroll from his pack. He hovers 5ft feet off the ground and begins reading the strange words...
Round 1: Retrieve scroll of summon nature's ally IV, move forward closer to Hamilton.
Round 2: Read scroll to summon a griffon!
Tulia |
Tulia flies with Vael, keeping close. She loads her crossbow, ready to do her best against the coming giant.
Round 1: Move forward, load crossbow
Round 2: Ready action to shoot the first the giant she sees.
Tiny Giant Bane Light Crossbow +1 (w/Hunter's Blessing): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (10) + 19 = 29
Damage: 1d4 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 5 + (6, 1) = 15
Ushyle |
Ushyle has a heroism, a clay skin, and/or an align weapon for anyone who comes to him. Beyond that I'm afraid I've not much more to offer. :-/
Dungeon Master S |
Doxon: Needs Botting
Hamilton: : Move and strike
Raen: 2 Rounds remaining
Ushyle: : 2 Rounds remaining
Vael: Magic!
Whistle Pig: 2 Rounds remaining

Doxon: Needs Botting
Hamilton: : Move and strike
Raen: 2 Rounds remaining
Ushyle: : 2 Rounds remaining
Vael: Magic!
Whistle Pig: Get into position
Raen Varkath |
Raen sighs and mentally reviews this morning's preparations at the Keg & Eagle in Korvosa.
Drawing a wand, she summons 1d3 ⇒ 1 small elemental of air near the center of the bridge and then reaches down to cover Ushyle with a glamer of invisibility. "Stay here. Only I can see you now."
Dungeon Master S |
Doxon: Needs Botting
Hamilton: : Move and strike
Raen: Prep!
Ushyle: : 2 Rounds remaining
Vael: Magic!
Whistle Pig: Get into position
Doxon Greyforge |
Heeding the warning cry of his friend, Doxon calls on Torags gifts to gird him for the coming battle.
Round 1:
The air around Doxon begins to glow, enveloping his allies. Sparks of light, as from hot steel hammered against an anvil, float around them. A kneeling form materializes beside him, a well muscles figure with the head of a noble wolf. It rises, greatsword held at the ready.
Std: Greater Blessing, Aura of Protection. Swift: Blessing Battle Companion - Summon Hound Archon
Round 2:
Then Agrimmosh begins to glow a deep red gold. That glow continues down through its hilt and into Doxon, suffusing him with the power of the Forge.
Sacred Weapon: Holy, then Fervor to swift cast Divine Favor
Dungeon Master S |
Reality itself swirls around Doxon as he weaves dweomers into existence. Griffon and angel alike join the field of battle!
Enemy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Raen: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Ushyle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Vael: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Whistle Pig: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Doxon: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Hamilton: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Dungeon Master S |
The powerful cyclops holds her scythe forward and barks a command. From behind her a pair of tomb giants join the fray. One of the giants is clearly dead, a zombie husk of a once noble creature.
The cyclops herself advances to the ledge and casts a spell. A cold, cloying miasma of greasy darkness spreads out across the field. Everyone but Raen and Ushyle needs to make a Will save. The effects are dependent on your alignment and being. Check HERE. DMG: 5d8 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 2, 6) = 17 OR DMG: 10d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 3, 6, 1, 6, 2, 4, 2) = 36.
The other two advance forward, ready to close. The zombie seems unreasonably fast...
Round 1:
Enemy: Advance and buff
Whistle Pig: Go
Raen: Go
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Go
Vael: Go
Vael Oakfist |
Will save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Raen Varkath |
"Obstruct the bridge," Raen commands her elemental in Auran. The small figure obeys, standing between the giants and the party.
Raen flies forward from Ushyle and prepares to deny the enemy their use of magic. Ready Counterspell.
Dungeon Master S |
Raen prepares herself as she pushes her back up forward with a whoosh.
Round 1:
Enemy: Advance and buff
Whistle Pig: Go
Raen: Prep
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Go
Vael: Go
Dungeon Master S |
Almost reflexively, Tulia shoots her crossbow. It drives into the Cyclops's arm, and surprisingly stings a bit more than the one-eyed foe expected!
The spell deals 17 to a good creature or 36 to a good outsider. It also causes them to be sickened for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds. A successful Will save reduces damage to half and negates the sickened effect. If you're not good, it's already half damage and no sickened. Passing the save means 1/4 damage.
Round 1:
Enemy: Advance and buff
Whistle Pig: Go
Raen: Prep
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Go
Vael: Go
Cyclops: 15
Vael Oakfist |
Vael resists most of the blighted magic, but immediately doubles over in pain as the group's wounds appear on him. He accepts the pain, gritting his teeth as he forges on. 5hp back to Hamilton, Whistle Pig, and Doxon. -15 to Vael.
He then places a hand on himself, calling upon the heavens to heal his wounds. Healing Hex: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2) + 10 = 13
Tulia |
Tulia readies her crossbow to shoot the first giant (alive) that tries to cast a spell.
Damage: 1d4 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 5 + (1, 3) = 12
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham sights down his bow and hastened, fires a whole bunch of arrows at the giantess.
Shortbow +2:1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31, Damage on Hit:1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Shortbow +2:1d20 + 19 ⇒ (7) + 19 = 26, Damage on Hit:1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Shortbow +2:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16, Damage on Hit:1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Dungeon Master S |
Hamilton lands a pair of solid hits with his shortbow! The cyclops is far too tough to be laid low by such small weapons though.
Tulia reloads and readies as Vael tries to keep the party together.
Round 1:
Enemy: Advance and buff
Whistle Pig: Go
Raen: Prep
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Hits
Doxon: Go
Vael: Heal

'Gotta thin these enemies out before the close rank and can do real damage.'
Pig turns his focus towards the living giant:

Twice Whistle Pig connects with the cyclops, but doesn't hit her in the eye like he wanted!
Round 1:
Enemy: Advance and buff
Whistle Pig: Hit

Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Hits
Doxon: Go
Vael: Heal
Cyclops: 81
Doxon Greyforge |
Will Save: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
Doxon directs the archon to go defend the bridge.
He then calls on Torags further aid, filling his limbs with celerity. He then extends Torag's blessing to instill courage into his allies. He moves to stand with Ham, ready to carve into their new foes.
Fervor to swift cast Channel Vigor(Haste). Then cast Bless and move.
Vael Oakfist |
Seeing the archon take position, Vael recalls the newly summoned griffon. He gestures at the cyclops, and the magical beast lets our a shriek before pouncing on their foe!
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

The griffon closes braving the cyclops's scythe
AoO: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30 for DMG: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 4) + 9 = 14
Ushyle continues to play it safe as Doxon bolsters the party and gets them ready for a very tough fight.
The tomb giant immediately swings her scythe at the elemental before it:
ATK 1: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23 for DMG: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (5, 3) + 16 = 24
ATK 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 for DMG: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (6, 6) + 16 = 28
It then steps back a bit as the zombie closes in on the archon!
Slam: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 for DMG if hit: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Saving her magic for real foes, the cyclops swings repeatedly at the griffon:

ATK 2: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28 for DMG: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 4) + 9 = 17

Raen Varkath |
Raen continues her singular attention of blocking the enemy's offensive magical capabilities.
Continue to Ready Counterspell.
Dungeon Master S |
Stone after stone cracks true against the target. The cyclops's neck twists at an awful angle! Nevertheless, she merely snarls and fights off death for at least a little longer!
Raen preps to shut down any retort from the cyclops
