Welcome back! Sorry for the huge railroad and combat dump. There's really no way around it. I'm back to post, so have at it Pathfinders!

Does anyone know for sure if the Implanting Ioun Stones rules from Seeker of Secrets is legal, and if so, how is it noted? It's something I was going to ask at the start of part 2 and forgot.
Yes, they're legal (assuming you own the source.) I simply note them on the item tracking sheet (or chronicle.)
Its legal and free I think.. As long as you own the source..What I mean is, well here is the text:
Implanting Ioun Stones Not all the secrets of the ioun stones lie with the Azlanti. While the First Humans mastered the intrinsic powers of the stones, uncovering new attributes and binding them to devices, the Thassilonians explored the interaction of ioun stones and the mind and body, and in time devised a means of implanting an ioun stone within the flesh. This process, originally believed to be irreversible, protected the ioun stone from harm and theft while still providing its full powers to the owner.
Binding a stone to a single owner is a lengthy process. To begin the ritual, the owner meditates with but a single stone in orbit around him. The body must be cleansed by fasting for a period of at least 3 days. If the fast is broken or interrupted, the process must begin anew. At the end of the fast, the owner makes a DC 20 Charisma check; taking 10 is not permitted on this check. Success indicates the stone has bonded with the owner, and may be implanted. Extending the fasting increases the chance of bonding with the stone, but the character may suffer the effects of starvation and thirst if he persists after several failures; the character gains a +1 circumstance bonus to the Charisma check for each full day past the third spent in fasting, to a maximum of +5. Failing the check means the owner must start over. Once the owner establishes this bond with the stone, he can have it implanted in his body, which takes 1 hour. This requires a DC 25 Heal check (with a –5 penalty if the owner is the one performing the surgery) and a DC 25 Knowledge (arcana) check to succeed. Failure inflicts 1d6 points of Constitution damage and means the implantation process must start again. Success binds the stone on the surface of the owner’s skin in a location of his choice (usually the head, arm, or hand), where it becomes one with the owner’s flesh, deals him 1d2 points of Constitution damage (which he can heal naturally or with magic), and gives him the full benefits of the ioun stone. Once implanted, an ioun stone may not be sundered or targeted by effects and cannot be removed without the owner’s consent while he is alive, barring complete removal of the implanted body part).
So, is it like training a pet a trick, where you need to roll for this and have it noted, or is it something that can be done off screen and just auto succeeds?

Im almost certain all the checks are waved for pfs.. My archmage has mutiple implanted if it makes u feel better..
Here is your Link!!..

So our network just went down and we have been told to expect it to stay down for the rest of the day. This seriously cramps my ability to post as I only have my phone. Sorry everyone, I'll post when I can!

I think it's safe to do this now, but we're not done with Part III yet:
Boon Rolls:
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Darius: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Ignatious: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Osric: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Roos: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Roakar: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Boon of players choice on a natural roll of 1 or 20
**Re-Rolls not allowed on boons**

So my brother-in-law saw Dethklok live. I didn't think such a thing was possible, but he did. I prefer my metal a bit more..... Dio-Iron Maiden (Dio and Iron Maiden account for at least 25 concerts in my life), but I'd totally g to that show live.

Roos bought a nifty pair of alien-space glasses that allow him to see in the dark...Darklands goggles- 20k

![]() |

I have nothing to purchase I can think of.
Anyone know of any cool Wrist, Body, or Eyes slot Item?

Dungeon Master S |

When in doubt, IOUN.
I've always enjoyed Eyes of the Eagle. Cheap and it sees a ridiculous amount of use.

![]() |

25,000.
It's mostly an issue that I have mostly what I want. Once I get some more, I will most likely buy a Belt of +6 Con, but I also tend not to get into combat too much, but I do plan to take this guy up to 20th level.

![]() |

Ignatious, tomes and manuals are off the chart expensive, but my level 16 sorcerer has a 32 charisma, and it's awesome.
Metamagic rods are awesome too. DAZING is killer. Mix that with peristaltic spell and you become the GMs worst nightmare

Actually, as I mostly GM, "become the GMs worst nightmare" is something I try really hard not to do. :P That's why I avoided taking a few options. I've been on the receiving end where it just wasn't fun to run the game, or even play if there was one of those characters in.

![]() |

Agree with you. It's my pocket nuke. I only bring it out when I feel like the combat could go completely sideways and it usually comes with a "will not do it again if it ruins fun label."

Dungeon Master S |

I was teasing Roakar about the worst nightmare thing. In reality it's a reasonable resource expense. After seeing it from Roakar's other character I picked up the rod for my sorcerer.
It's certainly less annoying than a polearm trip-monster. That one is just annoying.

![]() |

Roakar is gonna spend a whopping 24,000 GP and buy a ring of evasion. My goal is to make Roakar invincible....as long as he can activate his rage first.
Still haven't figure out how to activate my rage before my turn (headband of havoc) without having uncanny dodge (invul rager doesn't get it). Anyone know of a way to not be flat-footed besides uncanny dodge?

Dungeon Master S |

I might be remembering something from 3.0 or 3.5 but I remember there was a way for a barbarian to activate rage as an immediate action, but I think you still had to act.
Meanwhile, I can't figure out why some .gif animate on the map, but not others...

Headband of havoc will let you do it as an immediate action....however, you can't take an immediate action while flat-footed. Since I gave up uncanny dodge, I am flat-footed before my first turn. My biggest worry is having a high level wizard dominate me in round one before my turn and have me kill EVERYONE.

Dungeon Master S |

Do you have a clear spindle IOUN stone inside a wayfinder? That'll help.

Dungeon Master S |

True. It's not a guarantee, but you can always up your Will save as much as possible.

![]() |

If it helps, I don't think you can kill me. :P

I hate to be the bearer of bad mechanical news but the ioun stone refers to regeneration the spell not regeneration the monster ability. I don't think it will bring you back to life. Of course your mileage may very.

![]() |

I don't know. It's a really weird case, as the spell is an instantaneous effect, while the ring is continuous. The spell also states it both grants regeneration and curing, but it also seems to confuse the two.
A bit off topic, but I've always had an issue with Regeneration being very poorly updated since 2nd Ed.
All in all, I don't really hope to get that close to death to find out.
Taking a look around on the subject, it looks like it's come up a few times, but I have not really seen a definitive answer.

![]() |

Yeah. My understanding is that the ioun stone functions like the ring which references the spell which states it doesn't work on dead things.
Overall, I agree with you that it is one of those DM variable items.

![]() |

Even if it did he could always just pound you 4 feet into the dirt and remove the ioun stone.. Or ring and whatever item ur using..

Ok, I am back/here. Finally got some certainty in my professional life, and I will be starting a new job next month. Once February rolls around I will likely all but vanish from the boards, but we should be done by then.

Dungeon Master S |

Glad things are (at least sounding) better. We'll definitely be done by then at our normal posting rate.

Completely understand. When I started my new job I disappeared from PFS for almost a year.

Roos, you should use Motorhead for barricade performance....

Dungeon Master S |

Sorry guys. Had an impromptu day of PFS with some friends home for a short while. I'll update tomorrow (and be back to my normal, overly obsessive, post rate.

Dungeon Master S |

Since heavy metal has come up a couple of times:
As I did with Ronnie James Dio (the only time a celebrity passing ever made my eyes water was Dio) I started going through my Motorhead collection. This includes Lemmy's pre-Motohead band Hawkwind.
Hawkwind is a super trippy 1970s space-fantasy rock band. Many of their songs and albums are based on Elric of Melnibone and the Eternal Champion. If you've never read any of those, or if 1970s rock gets your imagination going like mine, seriously, excellent stuff.
For Hawkwind, check out "The Chronicle of the Black Sword"
For Eternal Champion, check out the Elric series.

![]() |

while my musical taste hovers more into early punk and prog metal/trash metal i do have an extensive Motorhead collection and concur about the space rock of Hawkwind. Roos hit the like button on the above post.

Dungeon Master S |

Haven't seen Osric in a bit. I don't want to give any spoilers, but we're more than half way through part IV. I know he needs to wrap things up and mentioned February (which is a week and a half away.) The next piece can be done reasonably efficiently with trust in your fellow agents (you'll see. :-)
Just touching base!

Dungeon Master S |

No worries! Good luck on the new job!

![]() |

Thanks again to the awesome GM who kept this thing running smoothly and to the players who posted frequently and had lots of good rp to boot. It was epic! Everything I was expecting plus more.. If any of you decide to continue leveling your characters let me know and we can keep the group going..
There are a few higher level module i cannot run due to my archmage, but there are a bunch of AP's that I can.. Surely we can search out a GM if anyone wants to continue towards epicness..

![]() |

Thank you! No need for searching, tell me the mod and I'll likely do it.

I have a lvl 11 Fighter that needs 2 xp to get to lvl 12 and then receives ROTRL credits to bump up to 13 or 14. I forget. I also have a lvl 10 Warpriest that needs 2xp and then uses his Wardens of the Reborn Forge credit to bump all the way up to lvl 14. How high are you talking?

![]() |

I have a 19 2/3rds elf wizard so ive done most of the high level modules.. I've ran Academy of Secret, Tomb of the Iron Medusa, Moonscar and the Witchwar legacy. As well as part 6 of ROTRL and RoW.. Any of the other modules and aps are open for me.. Im fine with taking Darius as far as I can.. I think 17-18th level is perfectly achievable..

Dungeon Master S |

Are you willing to *play* Academy of Secrets? I'm also happy to run Reign of Winter or Mummy's Mask for the 13-15 block.
The only thing is I think Osric is retiring from PbP, and Roakar hasn't chimed in. That's still only 3...

![]() |

I am sure there are other die hards out there looking for higher level stuff in PbP.

Dungeon Master S |

I just posted in the Flaxseed Lodge. I'm sure there are. In order to keep things tidy, and to let Osric retire, I've opened a new thread. Once you guys are confirm that you're retired or check in I'll close this one down.

![]() |

Im fine with whatever, although Id rather not run Academy again as I would get no credit for it and also have the potential for death so..
