This is the Murder Mystery Tour Discussion Thread.
Just so everyone is clear right from the beginning, the game is based on 16 players. For a complete list of players see the Campaign Info tab. Some of these players have communicated to me via PM and thus have not posted in the Recruitment thread. They have committed to play none the less.
All roles that have been handed out are as follows:
- 5 Aristocrats
- 3 masons
- 2 Investigators
- 2 Banners
- 1 Head Assassin
- 1 Stalker
- 1 Assassin
- 1 Devil
- Of all these roles, 2 are also Lovers.
All roles have been handed out completely at random.
Enjoy!

Taraz the Wastrel |

Last game there was a computer that would actually tell us based on a "scan" at the end of each cycle. I am assuming that the Baron will fill some similar role here.
So at this moment, I am treating my in character knowledge as ignorant. Once any announcements related to who is still alive and what "roles" have survived are made, I will probably talk about in character as I did last game.

Professor Alessandra Devries |

Checking in. My live got very, very busy for a while and I didn't get a chance to post a full profile for the new Dame-Professor Devries in the recruitment thread... I'll remedy that shortly.
I felt Taraz's pain last game, hopefully I last more than one round in this one. No hard feelings, pest control is a rutless business ;)

Treppa |

That's a toughie. Most avatars look a bit frowsier or more active.
Is this any good?
This one has a hat. I'm sure the diving bell is not a problem.

By my count we're still waiting for:
Darkest Heart
Duke Leto Atredies
Jin
None of these people made a formal recruitment post, but Jin and the Duke did drop in to say they'd be playing and the Duke said he wasn't feeling well and would prefer to start on Monday. Darkest Heart must have been one of the folks who joined by PM... have we managed to make contact to confirm that these folks are still interested in the game?

DougFungus |

DarkestHeart has assured me he would be joining. Apparantly he is having connection problems at the moment. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.
Jin was late to join the recruitment thread. It was by chance that I accidentally included him to the game anyways. He then followed up saying he would be joining in a PM.
The Duke never misses a game.
Its still early. Posting slows down on on the weekend. They're probably all out at the cottage or something...

Question about the lovers role: Do the lovers have to be the only ones left at the end, or if one is an assassin and one is an aristocrat, do the lovers just win together if there is only aristocrats and the lovers left? Or does everyone except the lovers have to be dead?
I'm just trying to figure how to strategize while taking each role into account.

Cassie DuSollier |

I would assume that the Lovers would be taken, one from each of the pools of 'bad' & 'good'. So a mason could easily be lover to an assassin.
Well if the lovers are still alive in the last 4 then they can easily win (by dead-locking the vote & killing off the others) - dependant on the role. Of course if one dies...

DougFungus |

- Because the devil wins with the assassins, if they investigate somebody who is being stalked they discover each others identities. Teammates don't kill each other.
- No role is immune to taking on the role of Lover & all roles are given completely at random. A Mason can also be a Lover.
- The Lovers have different win conditions as stated within their description in the recruitment thread.
They either need to:
a)be the only 2 players left at the end of the game. In doing so, The Lovers can essentially play as their own team.
Or
b)If either the assassins or aristocrats have met their win condition, the remaining lover on the opposing team defaults to the winning team.
The Lovers also play a much higher risk game because they are susceptible to their partners actions. If 1 Lover dies, the other dies by default.

Professor Alessandra Devries |

"It would be equally prudent for the assassins to identify themselves as Masons and back up each other's word. Or to bombard Dame Meowelsworth with false information.
As far as I know, Assassins don't begin knowing each others identity. They only discover each other when they target each other for assassination.

Last week was a bit crazy for me.
I'm here and reading through the gameplay -- I'll be posting soon.(PS. I also added my formal write-up in the Recruitment tab, since I neglected to do so earlier.)

There will be a small change in format compared to what most of you are used to. Rather than closing the Hour at specific date and time I will be doing it at random. This is because I will have too much trouble committing to a solid schedule.
Instead what I can do is give an array of days in which I will be available to make the update. When I have time, I will close voting to tally everything and then make the post when I have sorted everything out. Voting is likely to close without warning.
I realize this may cause some potential strategy issues for some of you and I apologize. This may be potential for new strategies for others though.
That being said, I will close voting for Hour 1 on either Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Have your votes posted by then or else you will take a pass on the round. Persons with special roles need to have their PM's in by the same time or they will also take a pass on the round.
I hope this doesn't inconvenience anybody.

Rules question, Doug. If the majority vote is "no vote" will that stand as no vote, or can one vote kill someone?
1 Vote can Kill someone. You can at any point take matters into your own hands. Just because the majority sides against you doesn't mean that you yourself cant kill anyone.
If votes are tied there is no lynching.
If everybody votes for No Lynching, than it will not happen also.
Assassins will get their kill regardless unless they too do not vote.
