Zinkyudo looses two more arrows! We’re not sure where they went.

Gwendolen swings, and nearly hits Zinkyudo.

Blayne lands a good blow on Dire Rat Green, but he looks up and says, I’m not dead yet. Just after that, Nev shoots and kills the Druid, and the Green Rat looks sad, maybe wishing he was dead.

He isn’t, however, too upset to bite back. Green Dire Rat will (again) Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d4 ⇒ 2 Blayne.

Disease Bite, filth fever:
; save Fort DC 11; onset 1d3 days; frequency 1/day; effect 1d3 Dex damage and 1d3 Con damage; cure 2 consecutive saves.

Red Dire Rat will chase and Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d4 ⇒ 2 Zinkyudo again.

Disease Bite, filth fever:

"Ouch!" Zinkyudo cries out, "Damn thing bit me again!" Fortunately, his years of rigorous training have strengthened him enough to be able to resist the disease that the filthy rat carries.

Assuming Gwen's attack is more than enough to kill the red one:

As the rat attacking him is sliced in half by Gwen's blade, Zinkyudo steps past it and attempts to kill the one that's just bit Blayne. Once again, however, his arrows fail to hit his target.

As he hands Blayne the healing wand, he sees Gwen rummaging around in the straw and says, "I bet you just found the way to not get hit by an axe, eh?"

He waits for Blayne to use the wand on him, then moves back to the door and opens it.

Zinkyudo studies the door and its surroundings with much greater care than the last time around. If he finds no threats, he opens the doors at the bottom of the stairs.

Grand Lodge

F Human, with Orcish qualities Mom-12

There are no traps on the bottom door. You open the door and see tall vaulted ceilings disappear into darkness high above as candles and torches barely illuminate the lower reaches of this room. Along the north wall are three cell doors, thick wooden affairs bracketed by solid steel bracings with small, six-inch square windows set high in them. Enormous crates, barrels, and sacks of goods are stacked neatly in the southwest corner of the room. The floor is clean granite, etched with a wavy line pattern that permeates throughout the entire room; the design even climbs the walls and disappears into the vaults above. A rat-shaped chalk drawing dominates the floor in the center of the room, clearly depicting a dire rat leaning forward as if to pounce. Thick wooden doors in the east wall lead to a set of steep stairs beyond.

Zinkyudo sends another volley of arrows winging toward the undead horror, and only then considers the question of what he might know about such a creature, its weaknesses and defenses in particular. "Anyone know the best way to kill this thing? Blayne, how about you?"
