Welcome to the adventure and thank you all for helping me to play test it as well. I'LL be happy to listen to any ideas to improve upon this adventure concept as we go. Feel free to leave messages here as we go. My name is michael my friends also call me crazy.

So I'm starting rampant speculation on the plot. I bet it's Gnoll's led by an evil sorcerer who has enslaved the tribes to his will with powerful magics. That, or an ancient empire under the sand is about to rise up and devour us all.

Thoughts?

In my infinite way of trying to sound 'mysterious' I shall say

"Maybe?" But I did make several clues fairly easy to notice. My Group here in Alaska seems to have trouble picking up my plot lines sometimes when I run games.

I am trying to combine the desert campaign of Pathfinder with Dark Sun and Al-qadim so hopefully the group will enjoy the mesh, The Dragon Kings where the Archmages of Thassalion Magic, they had learned a dangerous secret to drain life force from the planet around them to supplement their already impressive magical power.

Faerie Tales now told of them, state that these boogie men had through their spells caused the desert to form from a ritual that was stopped only by an unknown hero.

M Ifrit Bard 2

Thassalonian archmages? That's a classic! I'm sure nothing can possibly go wrong, they've been gone for thousands of years!

Well as long as your group doesn't run into the cannibal halflings this should be fun :D

M Ifrit Bard 2

Cannibal... halflings...? Didn't see that one coming.

Indeed they eat enemies and fallen Allies alike. Much like Lizardfolk but look....trustworthy to those unfamiliar with what they eat

Idea for the next combat in order to better get a run/ picture of it:

Lets all wait for the gm to roll and announce initiative order. He can also give us a layout of distance between our marching order and the bad guys ?

M Ifrit Bard 2

That sounds like a much more orderly plan. Good call.

Male Human Expert 4

I'll third this as it seem's it will help.

Also first edit I'm going to have to make, don't use the legacy of fire book one random encounter table O_O

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

and we should also post in order of our initiative i think as it does make an impact on the flow of battle don't you think?

GM use any encounter table you like it adds to the challenge on the adventure, as no one can't really expect any forward straight fight :)

Oh and an other suggestion. when you declare the beginning of new round maybe you can give us a small recap on enemy and current status?

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Expert 4

Hmmm it has merit but that might become an issue if someone in battle before another hasn't posted due to some issue. I can write a sum up at the end of each round in the initiative order from everyones post and that might prove useful for those that are in different time zones or to keep those with lower init from having to wait days to post if someone gets sick.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Here is an exemple taken from the board of what i mean:

Hardegon throws a dagger. It hits the pillar behind the goblin. He picks it up, looks at his dogslicer, and determines he likes the dagger better! With a big grin, he prepares to move forward and attack.

Zeriak shoots two goblins dead, as Brenton casts Shield. Emrys casts a spell.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Goblins start yelling in Goblin talks as they put their hands forward trying to find directions. The Gecko bucks...

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
The leader keeps him under control, and moves him forward.

Enemy Turn
As the goblins try to find their way, the commander guides his gecko around the room, attempting a ride by attack!

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 111d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
He raises his dogslicer to attack Hardegon, but the weapon flies out his hand. He curses and pulls another weapon from the side of the saddle as the gecko leads him back to the point he started at.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Status
20' Ripnugget (Perfect, ), Stickfoot (Perfect, Blind 2),
15'EFL Goblin x2 (2 Blind)

PFL Hardegon (25/27 ), Brenton (12/20 Shield),
5'Back Zeriax (21/21 ), Emrys (19/19 ),

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

EFL: Enemy front line

PFL: Party front line

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

I do think that we should post our action by our init order as , well as it might influence what other do or the situation in case one must change its action (such as helping a downed comrade or attacking a beast to take of a friendly caster

M Ifrit Bard 2

I don't know about perfect initiative order posting, but the end of the round recap sounds like it would help a lot. Whatever works for DM.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

I'll be off to work for most of the 'day' soon, so feel free to 'Bot' Sunset.

Plans are to make space so that Utarah can make with teh fire, like. (^_~)

Assuming the dice gods allow successful rolls, that is. ;)

Wishing every one else the very best.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

indeed Utara what ever works for the DM, and good work to you sunset :)

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Posted for round 3.

As I said, am out for the rest of the 'say'.

That time zone being about 12 hours.

Wishing every one all the very best.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Michael how do you want to handle level up? hit points etc?

M Ifrit Bard 2

Also I assume that since we are in the middle of combat we don't effectively level up until the next time we rest.

For HP whatever the DM wants, but I vote (if applicable) for half of die round up.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Expert 4

Feel free to level up as you chat with the NPC in the game, considering how mean the dice have been recently so let's go with maximum hp until past level 3

M Ifrit Bard 2

Aww, thanks!

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

agreed with utarah, i'll level up after rest :)

Full hp + 1/2 of HD rounded up is fine with me too

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

I look back in and am greeted with wonderful news! (^_^)

Yay second level! One more level on my away to awesomeness! :P

Also, that 'Maximum Hid Dice' thing? Does that include 1st level as wel?

Very much cheers and congratulations to all.

Indeed it does... O_O wait did everyone roll for their first level worth of HP I've never had people do that before I always thought it was max HP at level 1

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Um...I thought rolling was the way the start was intended? (>_>)

Quite happy to edit things to 'full' hp for first and second level.

Sounds awesome

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Oh yes! Sunset is waaay buffed now. She's practically tripled her HP tally 'over night' ! (^_^)

*Laughs* A terrible joke, but I couldn't resist.

One more level of Barbarian and thence off too swinging magical swords! (^_^)

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

you're gonna need all of them soon, so keep them close. we are about to walk in the cave that i think the gnolls are using for the night rest. and there are 12 of them + 3 dogs....

M Ifrit Bard 2

True, but we've got more options now, and with a little more HP a single bad roll won't put you at zero (like what almost happened to akaash).

Also, I picked up chord of shards, so I can actually do 2d6 AoE damage now in addition to grease. Should hopefully help a little.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

I also apologize that this character build sucks so much at these lower levels. As I've indicated to the DM I am hoping that things improve at higher levels as her magic develops.

Before the errata the character was working up to using a cut down rifle as its main offensive device. Sadly, that is now only possible in home games as Titan Mauler and Kensai entries both specifically state 'Melee' weapons in their electronic information.

All of my printings of the books make no such distinction.

Basically a character who works up the skills to build THIS

And thence have the skill to further turn it into THIS

I will be happy to have the Elvish Curved blade in this adventure. (^_^)

Also, after a good night's sleep am again off to twelve hours of work. Sorry I am now lagging in the posting dept, but Real Life is often a b!tch.

Very much cheers to every one.

Ah Grease, my favorite spell :D I used it once on a ramp to send several orcs sliding back down into their waiting traps XD

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Don't worry sunset. just do your best with what the Gods have blessed you with abilities. :) (well you could have gone straight kensai magus also)

M Ifrit Bard 2

Well, those two levels of Barb will give you some good HP and BAB to start off with. Also, the larger damage dice and cool crit range of elven curved blade work great with magus.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

1/2 with the exotic weapon racial trait and there you are all set...

I'm sorry Gloin, not sure of what ruling/trait/feat you mean by this short hand.

Very much cheers to every one.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Alternate Racial Trait:

Ancestral Arms Some half-elves receive training in an unusual weapon. Half-elves with this racial trait receive Exotic Weapon Proficiency or Martial Weapon Proficiency with one weapon as a bonus feat at 1st level. This racial trait replaces the adaptability racial trait

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Ah...*Nods* Already placed all my traits, but thanks will keep that in mind for the future.

Much cheers to all.

M Ifrit Bard 2

Hey, so I'm kind of a newbie at PbP, but it seems like we're down to three players. Is that right, or are the others out for a few days for some unknown reason?

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

nay, there is also on top of sunset, you and i, irathi and shadowyfox

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

lol, you comment on the door action made me smile for a sec as I had a vision of the price is right (with Bob Barker):

And behind door number 2 what do we have: A NEW CAR....

M Ifrit Bard 2

I'd take a new car! Or at least a new car's worth of treasure.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Sorry my posting has slowed. Shift work can get on top of a person.

I shall attempt to see if Shadowyfox is experiencing similar problems.

Very much cheers to all.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

You'll be thoroughly spanked for this delay once (if we do ) get back to the oasis alive....

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

:P

And "You wish"

(^_~)

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Well i guess it all depends how well you hold your liquor ...
