Byvalson raises both hands in refusal at the idea of bodies being butchered for food.

Walking away, the tired elf looks around for a good spot to prepare a place to sleep. He takes two winter blankets from the supplies he brought and approaches Nayse about sleeping arrangements, offering her one for herself.

Anyone who fails a Dc:15 Perception check:
Andrea who had grown uneasy sitting at the table casually stands up and slips away from the table without many noticing. She meanders past several people and disappears behind the sheet. She looks at the eye intently, then grasps her holy symbol in her left hand as she gently touches the eyelid of the eye.

"Where's Andrea off to?

Wrath Maps

Winter pales a bit at the suggestion, "Lets hope it doesn't come to that. There was a door where the eye is now, if you can find a way to escape that doesn't lead straight to that terrible fog, I'll see that the Royal Accusers reward you."

Nyse accepts the blanket from Byvalson and immediately gives it to Bates, the boy who is injured. She stays near Loric through the night keeping an eye on him so that he doesn't get out of hand again.

Andrea:
York raises an eyebrow as you pass through the sheets but doesn't stop you. When you touch the eye it's not the usual sensation. You know it's made of fungus, but also somehow not real. Then it hits you it's someone or somethings dream made manifest. Finally you hear in your mind the words What am I become? in three overlapping drowned voices. You know the touch does not allow telepathy so you're unsure how you heard this.

Rogelio stands and stretches. "Well, it appears our compatriot is off to check out that eye so that's my cue. We'll do this and then rest the night and try to figure out how to get all of you out of here before you have to have doppelganger steaks."

Rogelio grabs the silver hand mirror, smirking to himself, winking at Winter, and heads on over to follow Andrea.

"Find something interesting about our new friend here?"

Anyone know where Andrea....s%#+

Byvalson coughs for Ellery's attention, "Ahem, I believe the Cleric woman called you Ellery, yes? I saw you remove the binding on your mouth to enjoy some of the soup we had for dinner, by any chance can you voluntarily talk?"

El looks at Byvalson, cocks his head to the side, and very calmly lifts his right hand and extends a middle finger. He then looks around questioningly and raises his hand in a questioning manner.

Uther, noting the exchange between Byvalson and Ellery, chortles to himself. He continues to survey the group, to see if there is anyone else in need of healing care.

Andrea returns to the group, looking slightly relieved, but also slightly bewildered.
She pulls the group off to the side, hopefully out of listening ears, and whispers and signs:
I've learned something, but I'm not sure how helpful it is to us at this moment...
I had to touch the eye... I resisted for a while, but I decided to just get it over with. I learned that the eye is some sort of fungus, but it isn't quite real the way most creatures are. It seems like it is someone's manifestation, maybe from a dream. It spoke to me, and said "What am I become?" in three overlapping drowned voices.

She pauses briefly.

I don't know what this means... I don't know what any of this means. I do think that we may have come into this mess, rather than being part of it. When I found my weapons and armor, I knew they were mine. I don't think we would have them if we were residents of the asylum.

I'd suddenly like to have my weapons back...

She stands their uneasily and adjusts the straps on her buckler.

Rogelio cracks his neck and stretches, holding the mirror proudly. With a wry smile he says "Well, I guess it's time to show that thing what it am become."

Rogelio marches over to the curtain, dramatically throwing it aside and even more dramatically shows it the mirror while loudly proclaiming, "SEE WHAT YOU AM BECOME OTHER THAN A USER OF GRAMMAR THAT WHICH IS POOR! GAZE UPON YOURSELF AND BE ILLUMINATED FOR I AM ROGELIO, KNOWER OF THINGS AND HUNTER OF CULTS!"

Wrath Maps

The eye blinks and for a moment you think it had no effect. But slowly the eye fungus quietly withers away leaving an empty door frame in its absence.

In the room beyond white tile, spider webbed with cracks, lines the walls of this cathedral-like hall. A prominent, oval desk faces staunch double doors, while hard benches and portraits of somber doctors line the walls. Regal stairs ascend toward a second floor, but rubble has crushed the upper flights, blocking passage. Lofty windows, gridded by bars, reveal yellow mist seething just beyond.

Rogelio blinks twice and laughs. As he passes by York he tosses him the mirror and says, "Here, maybe it can fix that whole face thing you got going on as well."

Rogelio rejoins the group and tells them and winter what happened.

"Good work Rogelio, we've removed an obstacle from the path to our freedom. Does anyone else have information to share? We should rest soon, would anyone volunteer to take first watch? We'll need to help keep watch during the night since we've opened up a new venue for evil to assault the chapel," Byvalson addresses the group.

Andrea nods and goes to collect her weapons from the guards before she rests.

"Since I opened the new portal it's only fair I take first watch. The rest of you get some much deserved rest."

Rogelio takes up position in the hallway by York with his bow at the ready. He spend way too much time during watch making fun of York.

If you could let them know I came across some religious records and some items that can be shown perhaps after we have some privacy. Once again, not sure how friendly our hosts here will be when/if they discover them missing. They were all located in the same area so I do not know how likely they are to enjoy us pawing through the records. I looked for our names but did not find any occurrences.

Wrath Maps

8 hours pass as the party rests and recuperates as best they can. Despite the weather outside sporadically causing you to wake up and the occasional outburst from one of the former patients the sleep is extraordinarily restful. Your dreams and reverie are pleasant and you distinctly remember a butterfly with markings that resemble celestial bodies.

Everyone heals 2 hp. Which is 1 more than you would get back normally.

Andrea relays the information about the records that Ellery found. Does anyone else look through them?

Byvalson who was on watch, now prepares his arcane magics for the day.

Spells:

Read Magic
Detect Magic
Daze

Color Spray
Charm Person

Grease

Ellery looks a bit annoyed at Andrea and signs some at her.

Language: Sign:
You may also want to inform them about the items as well. Not to mention a bit more information about the records....like that our hosts may or may not like us going through them.

He looks at the others, raises a questioning eyebrow and imitates writing on a piece of paper.

Rogelio prepares his extracts and looks at Ellery curiously while handing him some paper and a pen to write with.

"Can you write? That might be helpful."

El furrows his eyebrows and proceeds to start writing...

Note:
I came across some religious records and some items that can be shown perhaps after we have some privacy. These things were located behind a barred gate so I am not sure how friendly our hosts here will be when/if they discover them missing. They were all located in the same area so I do not know how likely they are to enjoy us pawing through the records. I looked for our names but did not find any occurrences.

He pauses then continues...

Note, cont.:
And of course I can write, it wouldn't make much sense to ask for some damn paper and ink if I couldn't does it? Are you really that daft?

"Sorry, I didn't take mime as a starting language. Next time I'll just let you use the girl as a translator which seems to be going so well."

Ellery makes a small gasp and puts his hands on his cheeks doing his best sad impression. Which is ruined by the chuckling coming from him directed at Rogelio.

Rogelio Collects his things, ignoring Ellery.

"Uther, are you ready to explore some more? We can go to the east or north still. I'll follow your lead."

"Ellery, did you by chance find any arcane writings? Maybe they have specific magics to deal with insanity driven patients or for their safe keeping."

Male Human Rogue (7) | HP: 39/39 | AC:24 T:17 F:16 | Init: +7 | Per:+ 13 (+1/2 level vs traps) | CMB: 6 | CMD: 23 | Fort: 4 Ref: 12 Will: 5 | Active Spells:

Ellery nods once and then gets ready to depart. He glances at the others to see if they are ready to head to the north or to the east....

Uther, eager to get moving, claps his weapons together, grinning wolfishly.

"We move north. I am ready."

Once the group is ready, he takes the lead, eyes wary for potential foes.

"Thank you Ellery," he thanks him warmly.

Byvalson prepares his pack, loads his crossbow, settles Coubain onto his shoulder, and settles the dagger on his belt as he is prepared to set out.

A short time after the party is out of sight of the encampment Ellery holds up his hand for the group to stop. He then begins to pull the following items from his backpack: three purple cleric vestments, a leather lash, three scrolls, and a wand.

Haven't taken the time to examine the wand or scrolls closely I assume one of you would be more adept at that than I am.

While the others begin to look over the new found items, Ellery takes some time to properly hide his dagger on himself.

Byvalson hesitantly picks up the scrolls and examines them.

He also appraises the wand and leather lash.

Byvalson:
As Byvalson handles the carved iridescent wand he feels the sensation of bugs crawling over his hands. Two scrolls of cure light wounds and one scroll of sanctuary, as well as a wand of lesser restoration with 7 charges. The rest are not magical.

Long standing house rule of mine. Magic items will be automatically identified by Byvalson because he has detect magic and read magic memorized and has max ranks in spellcraft.

Andrea wakes up refreshed after the night’s rest and is ready to explore.
Can I assume they gave me back my cheap starter weapons?

Wrath Maps

Everyone has their gear

You enter the only door you haven't opened here yet. Sturdy racks and toppled tables suggest this space once served as a sizable laundry. Much of the northern end of the room is filled with rubble. wall of pipelike crossbeams fills the western alcove of this room. Three figures are manacled to the rack here, from south to north: a human wearing stained yellow sheets as robes and bearing a flame-shaped chalk mark upon his forehead, the corpse of a partially eaten patient, a humanoid creature with long, sharp teeth, and pallid flesh stretched tightly over its starved frame.

Andrea, Rogelio, Uther:
Its a ghoul. Ghouls are undead that haunt graveyards and eat corpses. Legends hold that the first ghouls were either cannibalistic humans whose unnatural hunger dragged them back from death or humans who in life fed on the rotting remains of their kin and died (and were reborn) from the foul disease—the true source of these undead scavengers is unclear.

Rogelio:
You know that ghouls paralyze those they touch, but elves are immune.

Uther:
You know that ghouls paralyze those they touch, but elves are immune and their bite carries a disease that causes the victim to turn into a ghoul.

"These two scrolls are of the divine magic Cure Light Wounds and this one is Sanctuary. This wand appears to be Lesser Restoration... I believe it may be cursed, it feels very far from holy magic to the touch."

Proffering the divine scrolls to Andrea, "You should hold on to these. The wand I'll pack away until I can fully understand it's properties."
