Brookside GM |

No I don't think that would make you visible.
Harold finishes the job without springing any traps.
I believe Harold has now returned to the rest of you, having disabled the secret alarm as far as he knows.

Melia Elman |

"What do you see, Robin?" Melia asks, from under her cloak and hood. "Also, I hope our monk friend returns soon."

Generic Mendicant Monk |

From the air a voice growled quietly [b]"There's a lever. I pinned it. We'll have a bit before they can get it ta move, but I suggest we move fast. I dunno if they're all in on it, 'specially the kids. Maybe non-lethal?"[/n]
figure that must have been pretty close to the 8 rounds duration;given he went in, looked, disabled, and came back
The mendicant monk disguise of Harold's emerges back into the world disconcertingly, the spell failing and flickering in tiny dots all over his body. For a moment it looked like pinpricks of matter, then it was if he was seen through a mesh cloak of invisibility, and finally he re-emerged, only a few pinpoints clinging stubbornly to transparency.

Melia Elman |

"All right then. Everyone done casting protections? Try not to kill anyone who's not an active combatant, please. Robin, you can see in there -- pick a spot and let us know the range."
She draws her bow and whispers a quick prayer under her breath, then nocks an arrow in preparation for the fight to come.
I'm declaring Mel's list of buffs here:
Barkskin at CL 7 from one of Fyrtor's concoctions (+3 natural armor). Duration: 70 minutes, so considerably longer than this encounter.
Protection from Evil at CL 1. The deflection bonus to AC does not stack with her Ring of Protection +2, but she has no previous resistance bonuses, so that part works. Plus it protects against direct mental control. Duration: one minute, but she's casting this first, so it will expire on round 8 of combat.
Increased Defense from her Protection blessing for a +1 sacred bonus to AC and all saves. This she'll cast immediately before we D-Door in, so it should expire on round 9 of combat.
She has Gravity Bow constantly thanks to the ring I eventually deigned to wear. And I've applied the effects of Haste -- she'll use her free-action Boots of Haste until an actual Haste spell gets cast.
After all that, I read her defensive stats as follows: AC 28 (10 + 6 armor + 5 DEX + 2 deflection + 3 natural + 1 sacred + 1 dodge from haste); Fort +11 (+2 vs evil); Reflex +14 (+2 vs evil); Will +10 (+2 vs evil, +2 vs enchantment); HP 83.
Her attack bonus is currently +12/+12/+8 (6 BAB + 5 DEX + 1 haste + 1 weapon focus + 1 enhancement - 2 deadly aim), for 2d6+8+1d6 nonlethal damage. If the target is within 30 feet I can add another +1 attack/damage.
She takes a deep breath and puffs it out. "All right. Let's go."

Garick Fyrman |

Fyrtor nods a grim look on his face while he bounces from foot to foot with nervous energy.

Kazador The Clanless |

"Gromthi. Drazh-nu." Kazador said, as his arm-torc unraveled and took the shape of a hammer. With a grim smile on his face, he went in...
List of buffs! 1 use of martial flexibility for See Invisibility. With battlefield protector, using Shield of Faith (+2 deflection AC) and Prayer (+1 luck to hit, damage, skills and saves for everyone before we go in). Current AC is 35. SoF is 9 minute duration, prayer is 9 rounds
Can use last of my martial flexibility for dimension door

Brookside GM |

If Kazador is casting dimension door, then go ahead and state whom you're brining. Turion can let us know his prebuffs at the beginning of his next post.

Kazador The Clanless |

Kazador, Fyrtor and Hal vanished, whisked away by runic magic.

Brookside GM |

You appear in the basement room Turion described standing in the middle of four people in plain clothes who were putting items in boxes and burning papers. You jostle them and rub shoulders as you leap into their space. Two of the humans look like generic tough guys while one looks a little smarter and a halfling looks ready to respond quickly to your sudden presence.
I rule Fyrtor and Hal get surprise rounds since they were just standing ready to go. Map is up to date.
Does Turion DDoor in with Mel? If we don't get a response in a few days, IRL, I'll assume that since it seems more or less clearly intended from previous posts.

Robin Weaver |

I expected to DD in simultaneously with whoever else goes in first, so that we can get everybody in. I mean, we can even do a "on the count of three" to start the process simultaneously.
Also, I did state the pre-buffs previously, but we got sidetracked a bit so reposting them - pre-buff with Invisibility and Heightened Perception on Túrion, and Shield + Mirror Image, Greater Magic Fang and Barkskin on Nelly. Then a Haste enhanced by Potent Spell(for a total of 11 rounds), directly followed by dimension-dooring.
Robin swiftly describes the locale, and the fact that destruction of evidence was already in progress, before focusing on Nelly and starting to cast a series of protective spells, eventually vanishing herself.
Mel and Nelly find themselves held, then are shifted towards the basement as well.

Brookside GM |

Everyone is in the basement now. Mel and Nelly also get surprise round actions. You may place yourselves since I'm on mobile right now or I'll do it first chance I get.

Melia Elman |

Paska, Mel thinks. This is not a fight for archery.
She sets her bow down and draws her shortsword.
I've placed Mel on the map. That's her surprise round action. Quarters are much too cramped for archery. So now she's providing a flank for Kazador.

Harold Donaldson |

Hal - still in disguise as a monk - blinks as he realises two critical facts. One - he is in the middle of a number of assassins. Two - he is completely visible.
With a strangled groan that even a charitable interpretation would have trouble characterising as a battle cry he dives to the side, twisting to angle his staff at the nearest man and releasing two snakes - one white, one black - that shoot throw the air like arrows.
5ft [DOWN-RIGHT]. Action: Use Staff of Entwining Serpents on the man now [UP] of him - casts two (variant) magic missiles. If the man can make AoO while flat footed, I believe this casting will provoke. The staff is also a weapon, so he is providing flank for Mel
damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7

Garick Fyrman |

Fyrtor strikes the man south of him, taking advantage of the man's surprise to land a solid blow.
Attack, nonlethal: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 6 + 1 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 + 2 + (4, 3) = 17
Damage adds sneak attack and studied target damage because target is flatfooted

Nelly |

Nelly wastes no time stepping aside and biting the man she arrived next to, attempting to pull him down as well - while clearly hasty, it was still a very valiant attempt against an unprepared target.
Attack, Flank, Greater Magic Fang, Haste: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 2 = 16
Free Trip: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 27

Brookside GM |

Inits, G,H,K,M,T, En: 6d20 ⇒ (20, 15, 18, 1, 2, 16) = 72
The group unleashes a sudden and violent assault on the Reaper agents, completely disrupting what the agents were doing and laying some serious, sudden hurt on them.
Outside the door, a voice calls "What happened in there? Stay on task!"
Fyrtor and Kazador win initiative and should GO with normal round actions.

Kazador The Clanless |

Prayer, Shield of Faith, Prayer giving entire party +1/+1
Hit v FF: 1d20 + 19 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 19 + 1 = 32
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (6, 2) + 21 + 1 = 30
Hit v FF: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 11 + 1 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3) + 21 + 1 = 26
Having caught the men by surprise, Kazador sought to clear the room. Starting with the man on his left, he laid into him with his silver hammer, seeking to bludgeon him into either submission or death, whichever came first.

Garick Fyrman |

Fyrtor strikes again in a quick series of follow up slices.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 15 + 2 = 32
Damage, Nonlethal: 1d6 + 6 + 1 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 + (2, 1) + 2 = 15
Attack 2: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 = 17
Damage, Nonlethal: 1d6 + 6 + 1 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 + (4, 3) + 2 = 17

Brookside GM |

Kazador's hammer lays out two foes on either side of him and Fyrtor lands two hard slashes on the halfling, who seems significantly more trained and durable than the other lackeys in this room.
Concentration: 1d20 ⇒ 2
The halfling's eyes narrow and he shouts out "Three kill five!" then he attempts to cast a spell but Fyrtor in his face distracts him enough that he slips up in his pronunciation and the spell fizzles out. Meanwhile, the man prone on the floor holds up his hands in surrender.
Past the south door, you've heard sounds of people talking and moving about. But after the halfling shouted, you hear a distinct change. People are still moving about but the chatter has stopped.
Everyone, GO!

Nelly |

Nelly steps up to the Halfling and attacks vigorously, only considering stopping if the prey goes limp.
Attack, Greater Magic Fang, Haste, Prayer: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 31 Damage: 1d6 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 19
Free Trip: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 32
Haste Attack, Greater Magic Fang, Haste, Prayer: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 18
Free Trip(if relevant): 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 22
Iterative Multiattack, Greater Magic Fang, Haste, Prayer: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 28 Damage: 1d6 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 17
Free Trip(if relevant): 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 25
Will not continue attack if target goes unconscious.

Robin Weaver |

Túrion, still invisible, steps from the corner, and starts an incantation, cautiously focusing on the man on the floor in front of him.

Kazador The Clanless |

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Prayer, Haste, Shield of Faith
"Five seconds to surrender." Kazador said to the halfling, even as Nelly went to town on him. He was ready to start swinging his hammer should the halfling fail to give up. One could never be too careful with a spellcaster.
Hit: 1d20 + 19 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 19 + 1 + 1 = 23
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3) + 21 + 1 = 26
Haste: 1d20 + 17 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 17 + 1 + 1 = 26
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (6, 2) + 21 + 1 = 30
Hit: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 1 + 1 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 21 ⇒ (5, 1) + 21 = 27
His desire to take the halfling alive seemed to be a deciding factor in his accuracy...

Generic Mendicant Monk |

perception: 1d20 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 5 = 26
spellcraft: 1d20 + 21 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 21 + 5 = 44
damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10
The 'monk' moves to stand over the surrendering man, releasing another pair of missiles into the struggling halfling. or other target if needed
"They're getting ready for us now." he warns.

Melia Elman |

Melia looks down at the prone one. "Smart," she says. "Stay down and you get to live."
Although still cramped, Melia suddenly realizes that she no longer has any hostile targets in melee range. She sets her sword down on top of one of the crates nearby, snatches up her bow, and lines up a shot on the halfling, holding it for any sign of spellcasting, hunting for good openings between her allies to send the arrow through.
Free action: set the sword down. Move action: pick up the bow. Standard action: ready an action to shoot the halfling if they start casting a spell.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
Critical confirmation roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 8 + (2) = 20 nonlethal, x3 if crit confirms
This is probably not going to confirm. But it'd be really nice if it does! Recall that Hal is standing between us, which gives him soft cover (+4 AC).

Brookside GM |

Nelly's second bite knocks the halfling unconscious.
Fyrtor still to go and others can revise their turns based on that new information, if they wish.

Melia Elman |

Since the halfling is down, I'd like to ready that action to shoot that arrow at any hostile creature appearing in the doorway to the next room, on the theory that their reinforcements are likely to show up soon. If nobody comes this round I guess that crit threat will just go to waste, alas.

Brookside GM |

That's fine. If anyone is feeling bold, it's a move action to open the door, either the north or south door, if you are within reach of it.

Garick Fyrman |

Fyrtor will step to the North door and open it. I'll pick my standard action based on what I see.

Brookside GM |

Fyrtor finds an earthen tunnel leading away and slightly up. You can see about twenty feet of empty tunnel before it bends too much to the left for you to see further.

Garick Fyrman |

Fyrtor readies and action to cast aqueous orb on any creature that comes into sight from further down the tunnel.

Brookside GM |

Sword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
You hear "Open that door" muffled from the south. A thuggish looking man opens the door and, surprised to see Nelly right there, steps toward her and slashes with his sword. But in his surprise, his blow bounces off Nelly's tough hide without making any impression.
In the large room revealed to the south, you see someone rush into the northeast room with a large sheaf of papers.
Standing in that room, responding quickly to your threat, are several more thugs in addition to a dwarf and a human. Both wear unassuming clothes but you quickly note that the dwarf bristles with hidden weapons while the human is beginning to cast some kind of spell. You are certainly in the hornet's nest now.
Everyone, GO!

Melia Elman |

Do Fyrtor and Mel's readied actions go off?

Garick Fyrman |

mine wouldn't have, I was set to deal with threats from the north door, not the south one

Kazador The Clanless |

Hit around corner so enemy gets +4AC: 1d20 + 19 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 19 + 1 = 30
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 21 + 1 = 27
Hit: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 1 = 29
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 21 + 1 = 32
Kazador stepped forward and attacked the man in the doorway with an overhead swing of his hammer. It was his hope to take the man down quickly, so the rest of the group could surge into the room and disrupt the foe from casting whatever it was he was casting.

Melia Elman |

There's a north door? ... squints ... huh, I guess there's a north door. I was thinking of the south door because I thought that was the only door. So I'll leave it up to the GM whether that action triggers or not.
Seeing a hostile combatant appear in the south doorway, with her bow conveniently in hand, Mel hazards three shots at him.
2nd Attack Roll (haste attack): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
3rd Attack Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
1st Damage Roll: 2d6 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 8 + (6) = 24 nonlethal
2nd Damage Roll: 2d6 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 8 + (1) = 18 nonlethal
3rd Damage Roll: 2d6 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 8 + (4) = 17 nonlethal
I believe Nelly provides him soft cover (+4 AC). Technically I provoke 3 AoOs from the prone guy next to me for firing a ranged weapon in melee, but I think he may be tied up with Hal's shoelaces at this point.
The first shot feels solid to her, but having Nelly in the way makes it difficult.

Fennith |

There's a sudden...pull, towards the corner of the room. Not a real gravitational one, more the sort where your mind believes that gravity suddenly shifted and your body wonders what is going on, because in reality, everything is fine.
A shift in perception akin to what a drunk person might feel, moments before the ground jumps up into his face and everything goes dark.
But while gravity itself was very much unaffected, the same could not be said for the shadows, which distorted and grew blacker - so black that not even Kazadors sight managed to penetrate it, before stretching out and starting to emit a glow around the outer edge of what became a large oval.
The deep blackness suddenly gave way to a lush forest, vibrant with colors and lush with life. Out of that forest stepped a miniature young woman with pale white skin, almost like ivory; she had long, braided hair festooned with ribbons; and large, slanted eyes of deep violet, and was wearing flowing, diaphanous clothing.
As she stepped through, a wave of pure, undiluted life flooded through the portal. Even those barely clinging to life would be bolstered by such intense energies - death had no place in the presence of the first world.
The small woman stood gracefully, then took in her surroundings. Looking at the opposite corner of the room, she smiles:"Túrion...to finally see you again. And how nicely you dressed up. I didn't know!"
She then starts moving towards Túrion, not seeming worried about the ongoing combat in the least. "And what a cute wolf! Does she like to play?"

Robin Weaver |

"Fennith...it worked - I breached the veil - I...will do introductions afterwards. " Taking a few steps forward as well to meet her in the middle of the small room, he absent-mindedly pulls a Rod from his belt.
Glancing at the door, moments later, he became visible while a set of firey rays struck out towards the enemy caster in an attempt to disrupt his concentration.
Attack 1, Ranged Touch vs. Flatfooted: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 28 Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 3) = 13
Attack 2, Ranged Touch vs. Flatfooted: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 20 Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 3) = 12
Attack 3, Ranged Touch vs. Flatfooted: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 12 Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 2) = 16
all of those minus whatever Cover he has, probably -4?
Almost simultaneously, several Magic Missiles shoot out from the same outstretched hand and home in on the mage as well.
Magic Missiles: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 4, 3) + 5 = 16

Nelly |

Nelly does not even notice the attempt to attack her, but does note the arrival of the Fey, and seems confused for a moment.
Mirror Images: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
She then returns her attention to the hostile creatures that had to be taken down swiftly.
Attack, Greater Magic Fang, Haste, Prayer: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 25Damage: 1d6 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 17
Free Trip: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 22
If the target in front of her is still up, she attacks him, otherwise she will rush ahead and try to attack the caster as well - trusting that her master identified a target of priority.
If the guy is still up but goes down after her first attack, she simply moves into the room, to the lower left of the barrel(two diagonally right down, one more down).
If the guy is STILL standing after her attack, she continues her assault.
Haste Attack, Greater Magic Fang, Haste, Prayer: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 32Damage: 1d6 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 15
Free Trip: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 33
Iterative Attack, Greater Magic Fang, Haste, Prayer: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 32Damage: 1d6 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 16
Free Trip: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 28

Melia Elman |

Mel does a double-take.

soulsight goggles: This set of goggles is engraved with geometric patterns and arcane runes. The wearer can immediately see and discern magical auras within 60 feet, as arcane sight.
Arcane Sight: This spell makes your eyes glow blue and allows you to see magical auras within 120 feet of you. The effect is similar to that of a detect magic spell, but arcane sight does not require concentration and discerns aura location and power more quickly.
You know the location and power of all magical auras within your sight. An aura's power depends on a spell's functioning level or an item's caster level, as noted in the description of the detect magic spell. If the items or creatures bearing the auras are in line of sight, you can make Spellcraft skill checks to determine the school of magic involved in each. (Make one check per aura; DC 15 + spell level, or 15 + half caster level for a nonspell effect.)
If you concentrate on a specific creature within 120 feet of you as a standard action, you can determine whether it has any spellcasting or spell-like abilities, whether these are arcane or divine (spell-like abilities register as arcane), and the strength of the most powerful spell or spell-like ability the creature currently has available for use.
Spellcraft check per person in the new room in LOS. I think this is just the (presumably dead) door opener, the spellcaster, and 2 of the thugs. They may have multiple items or spells. Hoping 3 checks is enough - feel free to roll more if needed.

Brookside GM |

Yes Mel's readied action would go off since she was focusing on the south door. The north door, which Fyrtor opened, leads to a tunnel. I've marked that doorway with a red x on the map since you can't see it otherwise.
Kazador's first blow strikes down the man in the doorway!
Kazador may revise his move action and Nelly and Mel their entire actions according to that, if desired. Fyrtor still to go.

Melia Elman |

Reluctant to enter the room before the melee combatants, Mel opts to pick up the sword she set down moments before and sheathe it.
That's my revised turn.

Garick Fyrman |

Fyrtor follows close on Kazador's heels, moving passed him as the dwarf attacked his first foe to engage the next.
Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

He then sets himself ready to defend his ground.

Kazador The Clanless |

Pleasantly surprised that the man holding the doorway was down, Kazador stepped over his corpse and followed Fyrtor into the room.
AOO if Fyrtor is attacked: 1d20 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 16 + 1 = 31
Damage: 1d4 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 1 = 14
Remember everyone you have prayer on you for +1/+1

Brookside GM |

Nelly rushes in and trips the mage while Fyrtor strikes a blow on the dwarf.
The Reaper agents respond in force. The thug near Kazador steps behind him and swings but misses. The dwarf stabs twice at Kazador with his shortsword but also misses. Another thug comes in to enclose Kazador and a third comes in, swinging at Fyrtor. But Fyrtor blocks the blow and lays the man out cold with his riposte!
The mage in front of Nelly focuses hard and turns invisible (but I'm leaving him on the map bc she'll be able to pinpoint him with scent) and it sounds like he stands up.
Everyone, GO!
Thug attack: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Attacks: 2d20 ⇒ (10, 7) = 17
Conc: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23

Melia Elman |

Sparing one wild glance at the bizarre woman who popped out of nowhere, Melia walks forward and takes a shot at the one presently engaged with Fyrman.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
"Oh, poot," she says as her shot veers wide of the target and thuds quivering into the side of a crate somewhere behind him.
Had to move 10 feet to get a good angle on people, so only one attack.

Garick Fyrman |

Fyrtor calls out to Kahz and motions him forward, "Move up!"
Khaz, I'd you and I can both 5ft step toallso me a flank on the enemy dwarf that would help me a lot. You might clear the lesser guys around then step up. For now I'll wait to take my actions.
