Are the bones magical?
Yorick of the Swamp |
Yorick points at the inky mass moving towards Gahrul-
"Gahrul!!!! Gahrul, wake up!!!! Gahrul can you hear me?!!?! WAKE UP!!!!! SOMETHINGS COMING!!!!!!!!"
Still pointing out the thing in the water, Yorick calls out to the other passengers,
"Look! There's something in the water there!! Please, don't let it get my brother! Shoot it, kill it, zap it with a fireball or your magicks I don't care just, PLEASE! Do SOMETHING!!!!!!!!"
Winterwalker |
...Perception...
I'll roll a will saving throw for you so I can continue typing the results.
Yorick's DC 10 Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Edit: [pass] Other than a headache, Yorick is free to act. And he does see that some kind of creature noticed him back in the water, though it seems to be preoccupied with you [Yorick] now. However your brother will start dying soon (drowning) if no actions are taken to save him.
Grauk |
Grauk let out a heavy sigh unable to see this monster that lurked beneath the surface. Cursing in aquan he began to cast Air Bubble before descending the rope. He knew he could walk on the surface for a good while but the beast may try to drag him beneath the surface. He flexed his claws between gripping the rope one hand at a time grumbling in aquan as he went.
Given his size and the state of the boat I'm not sure he'd need the rope all that much but am unsure.

GM: I will rule you can indeed reach him before he drowns. And with Fluid Travel I'll even rule no DC is required to get him out of the water with Dex checks etc.
So you got a waterlogged, almost drowned guy in your arms. What next Grauk? Do you feel powerful? Want to take that life and show everyone the power you have over this situation? They can't simply "walk on water", pff which human could ever do that??
Want some bonus XP? Go ahead drown him! What are they going to do without you?
Let's just roll a virtual dice, no reason, nothing to see here.
You know act casual: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
unknown role #2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Sadly with the 14, you missed more flavor text by 1. But hey, maybe drown him and get that extra 1 point? lol
Krendec |
Seeing the were-croc in the lizard folks arms- and still not completely trusting of him-he is going to descend the rope and cast air bubble on himself
[ooc]does he look visibly injured? If so he is going to cast CLW
Grauk |
Feeling the rush of power Grauk hefts the were-croc up in his hands triumphantly, it would be so easy to finish him... but now a greater display of dominance and power would serve him even better. Hefting the man above his head in both arms he let out a triumphant roar of dominance and declared to all before him in
As he finished the last word he will heft the unconscious were-croc back onto deck before turning his attention to the murky waters filled with confidence and letting out a primal roar as his torso twists and his eyes scan the water for this mystery creature.

GM: Visibly injured? Not from the fall, it was not a long fall from deck to water, but he was drowning moments before, so he will need to have the water purged from his lungs for sure.
Will he make it? Ya, probably by your estimations. just beat on his chest a few times to get him to puke up that water.

Damn dude...I gotta re-write a plot hook based on that role, well done.
Not that you know this IC, but you may have just ensured some safe passage for awhile to all on board, when I assign XP this is going to be worth some bonus XP for everyone.
GM: Whatever you saw has clearly fled. You have no enemies in sight, and the water is noticeably calmer after your display.
Though the strange orange sky still looms overheard, the feeling of being watched clears. You all feel a sense of peacefulness wash over you.
Everyone on deck earns a boon, next time you roll any dice, feel free to roll a 2nd dice of the same size and modifiers and pick the best of the two to use for that roll.
Example:
"Hrm I want to really hit this guy, so I will roll 2 dice instead of one for my hit roll."
Normal Hit Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Boon Hit Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Yorick of the Swamp |
The entire spectacle is over within seconds, but Yorick finds himself looking down, jaw still aghast at the sheer strangeness of it all.
Did, did he, did he just WALK ON THE WATER?? And then YELL at the thing in the water? AND IT FLED?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?! Wh-what sort of mad lizard is this??????
Snapping out of his silence, Yorick rushes over to check on his brother as Krendec and Grauk haul him back over the side of the ship.
Seeing that he appears to be alright for now, Yorick turns to Grauk and takes a knee, bowing his head low as he grips his long-hammer.
"I-I thank you, Master Grauk. Thank you. I owe you a life-debt, and until it is paid, I offer my hammer.
Turning slighty to Krendec, he smiles and nods his head as well "And thank you much as well. Both of you...both of you risked your lives for a stranger. It is good to know that there is still honor on this drowned world."
Krendec |
so we just got a 1/game ability to reroll 1 d20
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
After healing Gahrul, Krendec looks to Yorick "i acknowledge your thanks "
Turning to Grauk " that was an impressive display lizard. Could you teach me how to create that shimmering aura that protected you from the once-dwarf. I fear I will need it in future"
Yorick we never introduced ourselves
Also Krendec has been casting Guidance at ever available opportunity I hope that is okay.
Grauk |
Grauk climbs back onto the boat listens as the others speak to him, now they make sense. Picking up Gahrul by his legs he held the man upside down assuming gravity would do the rest. He addresses the group in common "Grauk just happy that feet did not melt." He nods listening to Yorrick's words. "But new allies are welcome, dwarves not like Lizardmen."
Grauk looked at Krendec and nodded "Can do things, can try to show. Aura can be placed on others, sometimes turn aside blow, sometimes not. Grauk thinks best not to let enemy make blow. Can show yes, can be learnt... we find out together."
Erimis |
Erimis approaches when the crowd around the remarkable lizardman thins. "That was most impressive, friend! I thought that poor lad was done for."
Krendec |
"what are your names" Krendec remarks "we can't just keep calling each other by our race can we"
Grauk |
Grauk gestures towards himself "Grauk. Tongue is new to me. Would have liked if he use rope but he was drowning and monster coming. I would like to know very much why he not melt. Maybe different water but dangerous in other ways. Maybe monster make water - what is word for melt less? Organ of monster we can take and use to make water not- ...melt."
Krendec |
Krendec responds to Grauk "if you catch it I would be happy to dissect it for you, however it is but a theory and theory's can-and many will-be wrong"
Winterwalker |
GM: The NPCs respond, because they don't know they are NPCs, as well.
There are 4 remaining Dwarves, all male. They all seem to be wearing matching uniforms Blue tunics with stylized hammer made with golden fists.
They go around and give you their names, should you ask or interact with them. They are Gunna, Zavier, Louke, and Lowgan.
Lowgan seems to be the new defacto leader of the group, the former leader is now goop on the deck, his name was Marvoy they say when asked.
They don't seem to keen on leaving the remains on deck, even for study.
There are 2 Elves on board, both females. They look to be the worst off, visually at least, they have scant clothing, if any real clothing at all to show, rags really. Probably scavenged during the chaos of the exodus. Both look heat exposed, exhausted, and rather dehydrated and hungry.
They give you their names, should you ask or interact with them. They are Kaylessa, and Aurae.
Kaylessa looks to be pregnant, it's hard to hide with what little clothing she has on.
They have mostly just stayed out of the way of everyone, but Aurae has done what she can for both Kaylessa and keeping the ship intact.
The majority of who is left, are humans. There are 5 males, and 3 females left.
They are Pe'Oter, Laynee, Chee, Kurtis, and Kris. As well as Gwen, Cora, and Lei.
Pe'Oter is a large man, he stands at almost 7 foot tall, rippling with muscles and sweat. He looks like he could honestly wrestle a bear, and win. He is the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome. He is the best dressed of the humans, wearing fine silks and sporting actual weapons.
Chee is the other human that stands out, he is the older gentleman sporting the stereotypical white beard and flowing robes. The wizard.
Though he has no idea where you all are, he is intrigued at the possibilities.
It might be the contrast of seeing so much dark(black skin) and so much light(white hair), or the sparkling emerald eyes. SOme people just have a presence to them, even when they do nothing. She has that presence for sure.
There's a quiet power to her, like she knows she can handle herself if she needed too, but has no interest in flaunting it. She has thus far been rather reserved and methodical, though the first time she broke character and showed some real emotion was when the 2nd sun appeared. That got her moving around and animated.
Krendec |
After the introductions are over Krendec is going to ask k "who is thirsty, I can create water safe to drink"
Winterwalker |
After the introductions are over Krendec is going to ask k "who is thirsty, I can create water safe to drink"
GM: None of the NPCs will decline this offer. All will spend a good amount fetching things to hold water, and unless you stop them they will want to fill a few barrels too. (Not really knowing it'll disappear in a day if left alone.)
Gahrul of the Swamp |
Assuming here a bit that the CLW did most of the work of resuscitating him.
He sputters and opens his eyes shaking his head and noticing the world...upside down. He looks up and lets out a rather loud and displeased grunt of possible "GET OFF MEH" but between the coughing and sputtering it's not 100% sure.
He starts struggling all the same as he tries to wrap his mind around what all just happened. Seeing everyone give their names, he grunts when he's finally done spraying up the ocean his own in a rather annoyed and pissy manner for someone with the voice of rolling gravel.

Ops, yes between an easy heal check and the spell you are back up
Yorick of the Swamp |
"what are your names" Krendec remarks "we can't just keep calling each other by our race can we"
"You are quite right, sir..."
Yorick shifts back, with the threats subsided for now, his eyes go from a crocodilian yellow to a much more human colored green.
"I am called Yorick, and if you are still offering water I would love to trouble you for some."
Turning to his brother, Yorick remarks
"And Gahrul, you missed it but these two just saved you from drowning and being dissolved in the belly of a giant shadow creature. You should give them your thanks."
Gahrul of the Swamp |
Gahrul stares for a brief bit after his brother's words and after a short while mutters out a thanks and turns about to storm off and start checking the ship for more wear and tear.
He turns on the dwarves immediately before leaving the group entirely and also turns his attention to the big burly human. "You lot, this ship is in dire straights. We're inspecting the whole damned thing. If we'd been checking this thing over thoroughly, that whole situation would've been avoided." he said in a snarl.
He stepped over to the broken piece and pointed out the issues. "This...will kill us all, and that I will not stand for." he said angrily.

GM: The ship is in need or repairs. It's frame is intact, but it literally has holes patched with roofs from houses, no functional masts, and a plethora of other random things ships should have to function that are missing. (like a captain, and crew for starters)
The large human and dark elf seem unfazed by the outburst to look the ship over, but the others will do what they think they can. (results posted later on what they may find.)
Krendec |
Bluff or intimidate aid another +4 if diplomacy aid another: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
"hey Pe'Oter and you dark elf get to work we have no time to lose"
Krendec is going to start examining the ship immediately after speaking
Erimis |
The aquatic elf introduces himself last: "I am Erimis and I am a student of the arcane and of course an inhabitant of the sea. This crisis and the state of the water we sail now have me gravely concerned."
Since he is not much help in repairs, he begins getting to know the others. He is of course intrigued by the three elven women and also the human wizard. He begins with the ragged, pregnant elf.
"Are congratulations in order? I fear that this topsyturvy world may not be very accomodating to little ones. Has the father survived the chaos?"
Grauk |
Once Gahrul starts sputtering Grauk puts him down softly before listening to the ongoing discussion. He does not take up the offer of water but lowers him a little , keeping a broad stance. He's never had much need of a boat prior so it has been an odd experience for him so far.
He watches the were-croc as he barks orders for a while before speaking again. "How did water feel to Gahrul, strange feelings?"

GM: The Dark Elf does seem to listen to you, though she still says nothing to anyone. Pe'Oter on the other hand seems unimpressed with your puny attempt to motivate him and instead turns his back to you in favor of 'eyeballing' the wizard. The wizard looks fairly unnerved by this display and pretends to go about the boat in search of things he could repair. Though it's obvious he has no idea what he is doing.
Though his back is turned to you Krendec, you feel this is still directed at you.
Pe'Oter: "Don't bite off more than you can chew little man. I do not heed words nor wisdom from the likes of you."

Aurae: "What 'is' wrong with you?" Aurae points her index finger in your face and continues. "Congratulations?" she sputters. "Were is the father?" She shakes her head. "Open your eyes! Do you see her husband here? Leave me and my sister alone."
Gahrul of the Swamp |
Gahrul spins about, he's honestly had enough of this. As he does so, the rage in his voice mutates to prove his point. Shifting to were-croc, gaining bite.
"ENOUGH! I don't care about anyone's Xenophobia, each life is useful on this boat and each death is a detriment!!! Listen to others and keep your bigotry and superiority to yourself! he said staring at everyone in turn...well mostly the dwarves and the humans at this point.
I'm not sure if I need another roll or if the earlier roll will suffice and gain the +4 from Kendrec's earlier attempt to aid another.

GM: Rolls probably aren't needed, however it feels like you are directing this attempt moreso against the other PCs, the NPCs are already doing actions based on that last intimidate. :) so Besides Pe'Oter, the rest of the NPCs are doing as Kendric suggested. I will allow the PCs to act as they wish when it comes to PCs generating intimidation/bluff/Diplomacy etc unless it feels appropriate to the situation.
Pe'Oter once again rolls his eyes at the attempt to 'be hard' and use intimidation against people.
Yorick of the Swamp |
Yorick stands and rushes to his brother's side, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"I...I think what my brother means to say is that working together will greatly increase our chances of survival, and that though the circumstances of our meeting is strange and dire, we must learn to depend upon one another to make it out of this alive. Now, Gahrul may be harsh with words, but he's a damn good sailor and I think with his help we can keep this boat afloat. But that also means we all have to chip in, and I sincerely thank all of you who have already begun to. We can do this, and I believe we may find that our differences in both race and talents will prove to be a great asset."
With that, Yorick raises his hand as if to pat Gahrul on the back, but stops his hand halfway in the air and awkwardly straightens out his clothing instead.
Best not to bother him while he's gone all crocodile
He frowns at Pe'Oter and the dark elf before going over to speak to the old, wizened human in the long robes.
"Chee, was it? I must apologize if my brothers' ways are frightening to you, but I think you'll see that what he lacks in manners he makes up for in his prowess of sailing. Now, you are a magick master, correct?"
Krendec |

little man? How tall is Pe'Oter?
"What exactly is the likes of me"
GM: Pe'Oter is big, almost pushing 7 foot tall. Full of muscle and sinew. He sports a dagger, but it looks ornamental at best, as he is just so big he probably wouldn't need it. He sports a long black ponytail, and is dressed in silks and fine clothing.
He looks almost too big to be a human, but still fits into that category.
Pe'Oter: "The likes of you? Do you not see yourself as a dog, barking his orders without the power or respect? You think to intimidate me into doing your bidding? I think not. Scare the rest of these people if you think that motivation is going to work, but not on me. Puff your chest out too far and you will fall on another's blade."

Pe'Oter: "Do you always ask others to do for you, what you would not do? Is that why you are so weak?"
You all seem to notice that the Dwarves are really enjoying this. They seem to be making bets and favoring the big guy. They are acting nonchalant about it though, trying not to draw attention to what could be a fight.
Yorick of the Swamp |
Still facing Chee, Yorick glances sidelong at the heated interaction between Krendec and the large human.
I'll have to tell Gahrul to keep an eye on the big one.
Winterwalker |
Yorick stands and rushes to his brother's side, placing a hand on his shoulder.

Chee: "Frightening? Er. No. No. It's quite the...er, yes. I weave spells, but a master? Far from that apparently. Wait. Where..um. What?"
The color drains from him, and he seems rather confused now.
"Who are you people?"
"Why are we on a boat?"
Yorick of the Swamp |
Yorick frowns, quite concerned at Chee's responses.
"It's...It's alright, friend. My name is Yorick. I mean you no harm. You've been with us on this boat for some time now, after the floods started. We've been stranded on this boat for a few days now, drifting and trying our best to survive. As for where* we are...I'm not certain. Would you like something to drink?
Let's see, what were their names....
Not waiting for a response from Chee, Yorick calls out-
"Grah-uk! Krendeeck! Aramus! Come here, quickly! I believe this spell-weaver isn't feeling well, and I'm no healer. I think he needs some water, he may be dehydrated. His memories seem to have failed him and we'll need his help if he is the one who took us here!"
Gahrul of the Swamp |
Gahrul wheeled about and shook his head. "Come one, anyone who is competent and actually cares about surviving instead about seeing how lazy they can be...we have a ship to salvage." he said angrily.

I would advise you to toughen up with all the others here if you wish to survive this. I don't think these folks are the sensitive types." He gestures with his arm towards the circle of dwarves forming around Krendec and Pe'Oter.

Grauk has been quiet since his earlier display. Others can shout and beat their chests to display their strength, he had displayed his, he did not think they would give him trouble openly now. Still even his pragmatic lizardfolk heart could not ignore Erimis and the two elven women.
He moves over to the aquatic elf and the two elven women. "All different people, use different words. Not all the same words but Erimis tries to use kind words at least even if in your tribe they are not right for now. We come together on small things, Lizardfolk mother, Elf mother, all need water yes? You need normal water Grauk can make. Erimis has own magics, good ally to have. None have tribe now, must learn.
