The sole akata tries to snap at Isu's heel when the kasatha retreats but is yanked towards an approaching Arcalinte. Solaria electrocutes the beasty with her pulsecaster pistol while Sydney pulls off an amazing display with her laser rifle... before the shot goes wildly into the back of the cargo hold. Spectre, however, manages to tap the akata on its nose with his battlestaff.
Roaring in fury, the akata lunges at the center of the force pulling on it and nearly rips Arcalinte's arm off, though the half-elf is able to avoid the worst of the blow. Arc takes 8 dmg, looks like all stamina.

While I believe Snow was intending to wrap up the last parts of the Acreon before handing off to me, I'd like to keep us going. Hope you don't mind Snow!
The luckiest akata in all of the Acreon whips its tentacle mane this way and that, throwing off almost everyone's aim as another hail of attacks attempts to obliterate it. Spectre and Sydney are the only ones who land their attacks. Spectre strikes a reasonable blow against one of its tentacles, while Sydney's laser strikes it square in the side as it lunges. Once again you all see the red hot laser bolt gets partially dissipated by the akata's hide.
The badly injured akata responds by screaming soundlessly and lunging once again for Arc, determined to shred the solarian to bits with its razor sharp teeth. Those jaws close around his leg despite his attempts to get to safety, clamping down hard before releasing him. (Arc takes 5 more piercing damage. )

With the disastrous aiming last time, Solaria decides its time to use another tactic. She purposefully stamps the metal heel of her boot against the metal ridges of the corridor, after the first explosive clang, the sliding boot sounds like automatic gunfire ... rat, tat, rat.... Her pistol aimed towards the akata, she smiles, "Surprise!!"
Std Action: Clever feint - Bluff with expertise 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 10 + (6) = 24 Akata is flat footed (-2AC) against all attacks until the end of Solaria's next turn.

GM Cellion |

With Solaria's clever distraction causing the akata's head to turn, Isu's assault hammer smashes into the creature's skull! The skull yields underneath the blow, somehow soft and spongy, and the hammer tears through. The akata spasms once and then collapses onto the deck of the cargo hold.
Out of Combat!
Looking beyond the two slumped akata corpses, you see that the cargo bay is a large room that once served multiple purposes for the crew of the Acreon. It contains a small science lab, compact mining equipment (neatly stacked and secured), and various large plastic storage containers with labels like: 'Sector OX-152 Mineral Samples'. The floor of the cargo hold is littered with the same yellow-green crystalline resinous shards that you've found in both the crew storage room and the ship's bridge.
While no one made the Life Science check to identify the exact nature of the shards, you can make a Physical Science check instead to get more general information.
Melee weapons or ammunition fashioned from noqual gain a +1 enhancement bonus to damage rolls against magical constructs and undead creatures created by spells.
One bulk of noqual ore is worth 500 credits. Noqual increases the cost of one cartridge of ammunition by 40 credits, and a melee weapon by 2,000 credits.
You note that there is 2 bulk worth of noqual crystals littered about the cargo hold.

![]() |

Arcalinte slumps to the floor as the fight ends, gritting his teeth and trying not to scream in pain and illness.
"Flare, flare, FLARE! Help!" he chokes out.

![]() |

What are your stats, Arc? You look full on your stat line.

![]() |

I'm not sure. I just know I've taken damage twice over the course of this fight after not recovering from the damage from the punching match with you.

![]() |

Up to you to figure it out... though I can't help anyway. I thought I had a mk 1 serum but I do not.
Isu sits down on the ground next to Arc and pats him on the shoulder. 1 RP to regain stamina.
"This one does not think we performed well in that fight. Too many missed attacks. This one thinks we would be well served in taking some time to practice after the investigation is over."

Solaria Jesari |

Solaria goes to Arc, following Isu. "The sooner we get you back to Absalom Station the better, you need some proper medical care Arc. I'll go look in here, there may be medical supplies."
Solaria gingerly enters the hold, hoping to find something useful to help Arc, opening any cupboards that are not locked.
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

GM Cellion |

I did a bit of archaeology in the gameplay thread. Arc, you're currently at: 0/14 SP 10/18 HP 3/4 RP. Please update your statline that goes with each of your posts and keep it updated whenever your status changes so we don't have to go digging again in the future!
@Isu and Arc: Since you both failed your save against the akata disease, make sure you account for all the penalties of that affliction. As a reminder, you're both sickened (You take a –2 penalty to ability checks, attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, and skill checks.) and fatigued (You cannot run or charge; you take a –1 penalty to AC, attack rolls, melee damage rolls, Reflex saves, initiative checks, and Str- and Dex-based skill and ability checks; and you reduce your encumbered limit by 1 bulk.)!
Solaria steps carefully around the crystalline shards and searches the cargo hold. While she doesn't find any medical supplies, she does find a few useful items. From the compact science lab she locates 500 UPBs amidst a half-synthesized mining drill, and behind one of the storage containers she finds a tactical arc emitter (its battery having been partially discharged and currently holding 12 charges).
Grix steps over to Arc and injects the solarian with a healing serum.
Healing Serum Mk1: 1d8 ⇒ 6 HP healed! As a side note, Grix has 3x Healing Serums and 2x Medpatches. Since he'll disappear shortly, please assume that you can take them from him if you need them.

Right! Knew I was diseased but wasn't told what it meant before now... Will adjust
Isu leans over and barfs on the floor. He wipes his mouth...
"Great."

![]() |

"Well, that was painful. Let's see what they were protecting and blow this joint!" Ted glances at the makeshift hospital and sidesteps the pool of partially digested food as he heads in to the room to help gather the goods.

![]() |

Who can do physical science?

![]() |

Arcalinte breathes a sigh of relief as the medpatch is applied.
"Thanks, Grix."
Then he frowns as Isu displays the same symptoms he'd shown about an hour ago.
"I'm sorry, Isu. I agree that some sparring would be helpful...as would some actual antibiotics."
He looks about.
"Do you think we could spare a few minutes? I think taking some time to meditate would help re-sharpen my combat edge a bit. Clear my mind."
Basically asking permission to take a short rest.

Solaria Jesari |

Solaria returns her face a sign of failure, "There's no medical supplies I could find." as she continues, "Although we have the basic materials to craft something useful and I left a big weapon thing in one of the containers. it might be useful for you Isu or even Arc, when he's feeling a bit better."

![]() |

Isu considers the weapon that Solaria points out, but he shakes his head. "This one could use a ranged option, but that large device is only for short distances. At that point, this one would be more effective with the sword and hammer anyway."

"Let us continue. We have nearly explored the whole ship, and there is more work to do."
Isu opens the next door to the stern (west?).

GM Cellion |

Isu leads the way to the sole remaining unexplored section of the Acreon: the aft engineering bay and reactor core. The powered doors slide open at his touch, revealing corridors that stretch to either side of the totally enclosed reactor.
A half dozen open-able slit windows on the inner wall of the hallway (facing the reactor core) provide a shielded and tinted view of the operating core. The hallway's two sides end in powered doors leading further towards the aft.
Please make sure you move your tokens in Roll20 if you're following Isu. Also, Handouts has been updated with the message recovered from the Acreon Bridge computer.

Sydney Jordan |

Sydney continues to explore the ship with Isu. Her guns are back in her leg holsters and she's casually flipping the pen she nicked.
Slight of Hand (pen twirling): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Her moves a bit sloppy. Perhaps she's distracted by what they find in the next room. "Hey, the power core seems functional. Let's see if we can get this ship up and running." See map.
Sydney sticks the pen behind her left ear and examines the power core more closely before attempting to get the ship up and running again.

Sydney doesn't find any accessible controls for power core from this hallway (despite the view slits for observing the core). From what she recalls of the map the group found on the bridge, the controls for the core are in the engineering bay at the aft of the ship. This'd be beyond either of the two doors I've marked with purple on the map.

![]() |

Isu opens the door to the engineering bay.

![]() |

"Once we're done here, we should probably look at that ship that ambushed us on the way in," Arcalinte comments. "Maybe we can figured out what they could have wanted with the Acreon. I know I have a hypothesis."

Sydney Jordan |

"Looks like we need to go back to the bridge to access the controls to the ship. Come on." Sydney stuffs her hands deep into her jacket pockets and heads down the hall. She opens the double doors to the bridge and looks for the controls to the power core. Syndey seems confident in her walk - as if she doesn't expect to see any more creatures on the ship.

GM Cellion |

Just as a heads up for Sid: Same rolls would have been OK, But... while there were controls at the bridge that give access to the power core, Isu just said he was opening the door to the engineering bay. You may want to hold off on your movement because...
As Isu unseals the starboard side door to the engineering bay, he sees a long chamber stretching across the width of the ship. It seems that all of the Acreon's main engineering functions can be operated from here, and some access panels facing the reactor core allow for monitoring and maintenance. The ground is littered with more yellow-green crystal. Before he can think too much about the equipment here, he suddenly hears a rustling off to either side. Two akatas pull free from where they were nestled under some terminals and start to advance towards him. Their tentacle manes wriggle ominously!
