The blue cultist draws and tosses an incendiary at Jelico and Isu. The ensuing burst of napalm sprays through the air, but both manage to shield themselves from taking too much to the face.
Jelico Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Isu Ref: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

The red cultist draws a battered pistol and lets out an ululating war cry as he fires at Isu. The pistol's jet of nanites fails to find purchase on Isu's armor. The green cultist lets out a gleeful cry as he charges at Jelico, drawing and slashing down with a jagged blade. The longsword slashes across Jelico's arm. (Dealing 17 damage. The green cultist's movement provoked from Isu) Green giggles "Something more fun than forest creatures to take apart!"

Now that's a cleave!
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34 2d8 + 14 ⇒ (6, 3) + 14 = 23
The small furry forest creature dives for cover while the cultists are distracted.
Ted's shot deflect's off blue's armor, but Spec has better luck with the first of his plasma blasts. Green takes a crackling blaze straight to his chest and is cut down by Arc immediately afterward.
The blue cultist draws her longsword and lunges at Isu, but her swing falls short of his armor. Red takes advantage of the distraction to do the same, but has far better accuracy. His jagged blade cuts a shallow gash. (Isu takes 15 damage after DR)

Isu's swing cleaves red's head clean off his shoulders and cuts a deep gash in blue with one smooth motion. Spec's plasma blast impacts blue with a charring flash, sending her flying into the wall behind. She slumps to the floor, lifeless.
Combat Over!
The forest creature quivers in a corner between the wall and the elevated platform in the north-east corner of the room. It watches you all with large eyes, stricken with fear. Other than its low frightened purring, you hear a slow intermittent clanking resonating from somewhere deeper in the complex.

Arcalinte sheathes his weapon, then turns his attention to the creature.
"Isu? Jellico? Can we calm this poor thing so we can treat its injuries?"

that is survival check. I'm at least trained in it. I'll give it a shot.
"Calm down now, porgy. We will heal you and let you go."

Jellico laughs a bit at Isu's attempt to calm the animal. "I can try, but I can't promise that I'll do much better."
He knees down and grabs a bit of ration out of his pack. He offers it to the creature. "Hey little guy. We don't mean you any harm."

Spectre examines the equipment the group found.
"Is any of this of use to any of you?" he asks.
"I suppose I could take one of the pistols...it may pack more of a punch than my starknife against foes at range, though I am more accurate with my throwing arm than my trigger-finger."
What do you guys think? While my starknife's crit finished off the atrocite, I haven't upgraded the thing at all the entire campaign, and maybe it IS time for a new ranged weapon?
Ted Under
|
Ted poorly helps to aid in calming the creature as well, "Don't worry little guy, only the robot will hurt you."
survival calming: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Ted likes grenades, and he wouldn't mind an option for doing acid damage, though his base weapon is a 2d6 Cold so he wouldn't use the acid that often, so take it if you want it Arc.
| GM Cellion |
Is it a Porg? Or is it a legally distinct cute forest creature? :)
The forest creature quivers in the corner, ignoring Isu, until Jelico arrives with a calming demeanor and a piece of food. It approaches cautiously, then nabs the food and scurries between your legs to escape the room. Its oversized furry head wobbles from side to side as it runs into the wilds.
You're left with only the clanking somewhere within the complex to keep you company.
Arcalinte Soter
|
Well there's three of them, Ted, we can both have one!
"Huh...didn't even stay for medical attention," Arcalinte comments. "We must have gotten to them just as they started harassing it, so its injuries are minimal."
He takes one of the pistols and improvises a crude holster for it.
"Allow me to scout ahead again."
He doesn't activate his inlay this time as he enters the complex door, and looks around quietly.

Arc opens the northern door and steps into a long, wide hallway. The air here is cool, ancient kish technology providing air conditioning and a pleasant atmosphere. A large number of doors branch off from this central hall. All are closed. The ground in his hall is smeared with grease and tracks of muddy boots that have marched all around, to each of the doors.
Small signs next to each of the doors show holographic characters - likely the names of each room in ancient kishaleen. The loud clanking appears to be coming from the final door to the north-east.
On the southern side of the hall, going west to east, the doors are labeled:

"Sounds like it's coming from Workshop and Maintenance," Arcalinte replies. "Even if they couldn't read the language, they're probably smart enough to figure out that that'd have the tools or information they needed to get this place fully operational."
He begins sneaking up to that location, hoping they'd left the door open for him to spy on them.

Up and down the long hallway, all the doors save the one you just passed through remain closed. Coming up to the final door to the north-east, you hear the pounding and clanking rhythmically resounding through. But with the door closed there's no clear sign of what lies beyond.
(Looks like one vote for NW door and one for NE? I'll let you guys settle on the direction to go)
Jelico Kent
|
I vote for Workshop and Maintenance
"Lead the way, Arc. We don't need anything blowing up on us while we search the rest of the building. Better to eliminate that possibility first."
| GM Cellion |
Assembling in front of the Workshop and Maintenance door, Arc leads the way. You slide the door open to reveal a large room in a terrible state of disarray. Clusters of strange machines line the walls, including a row of currently inactive robots sitting inside charging enclosures along the northern wall. Crates lie scattered everywhere, filled with scraps of what look like kishalee tech, all wrecked beyond repair. Assorted tools lie discarded on every possible surface. A pair of unusual robots lie half-dismantled on the main worktable near the center of the room.
A ysoki in a yellow jumpsuit stands next to the dismantled bots, a large wrench in one hand and a pistol in the other. The ysoki's fur is patchy and diseased and her eyes have a bright red cast to them. She twitches incessantly, banging her wrench against objects seemingly as a nervous tic.
Beyond the ysoki, three active robots stand in the room. Two appear to be kishalee make, with welding lasers in place of one arm. The last is a bizarre claptrap of weaponry and twisted metal plates, obviously the work of a "creative mind". This final bot sports a large cannon in place of a head.
The ysoki yaps at a thousand miles an hour "What-what-what-what-what? Testers? Trespassers? Totally lost? No-no-no this moon shouldn't be found! Who-who-who are you?" She trembles and twitches, her finger on the trigger of her pistol, but her curiosity stays her hand for just a moment.
Handouts updated.
Ted Under
|
Ted thumbs the safety off his holstered pistol, and whispers "Spec, tell your brother there that we're friends."
| GM Cellion |
As far as Jelico can tell, the ysoki seems somewhat unhinged, and the way she handles her weapon suggests that she's willing to use it. But of course, right now she isn't attacking. At least, not immediately.
Whether or not you consider three weapon-toting robots and a gun-wielding ysoki a 'threat' is up to you.
