"Thank you, foreman."

"Yes, they are." Serila nods, as if to add extra confirmation to her words. "As you may know, Alperion's mother suffers from the illness. The others arrived in town today, but immediately volunteered to help find a cure."

"Sorry to hear that Alperion but if your not working your not getting paid." Looking at the rest of the group. "After your business with Milon I am guessing that you will want commendation for the night since it's to later to make it back to town now and even the road is not safe at night. Well we are not an Inn and the bunkhouse is full anyhow(except Alperion's spot), but you can sleep in the barn. Miss Gudlinck you may sleep in my personal quarters and I will sleep here in my office."

A half an hour later a tall, skinny human male has weather worn tanned skin and salt and pepper long hair walks in to the office. Jarlben waves him over. "Milon, Miss Gudlinck and her friends would like to talk to you about a witch."

With that Milon gets a confused and slightly frightened expression.

Keanan smiles at Milon and says, "Now now my good man, no need to worry. We are looking for some ingredients to cure the town of Falcon's Hollow and a woman named Laurel said you might know where a witch lives in the woods who probably has one of the ingredients we need. All we ask is that you provide some directions, nothing more. In exchange we can offer you our thanks and our hopes to save the lives of those in Falcon's Hollow."

"We had indeed hoped we could stay the night in the camp. You're very kind foreman, to even offer me to stay in your personal quarters."

Though I hope those smell better than this office.

"Good evening", Serila says to Milon as he steps into the office. She then notices the man's frightened expression at the mention of the witch.

I wonder what that means...

"The witch's name is Ulizmila", Serila adds. "If you know where she lives, please tell us. We don't have any other leads on how to find one of the ingredients Laurel needs."

To Serila Nebdel mutters, While his assitance was adequate, the foreman seems confused and distressed. If he is coming down with the fever, you may not want to sleep in his quarters.

To Milnon, Approximately how long is to travel by foot to the witch's location? And do you know anything about her that would help us to convince her to help?

To Keanan, Seems reasonably efficient for the little information we currently possess.

Milon turns Nebdel's way. "It is not wise to seek a witch, therefor I have never met the witch or seen her but since you must deal with her watch your words. Her hut lies 20 miles by the route your dwarven friend suggested, which will take more than a good days hike."

When Milon speaks of "northern rivers" being easier to ford, is he referring to the river portion on the map between the area where the river splits at the very top and the "lake" area due south of the elder tree? I'd hate for us to walk all the way to that area thinking we will be able to cross and find out we needed to go to the Deadwood Ford area marked on the map.

Jarlben gets out of his chair and hobbles around to the front of his next. ”Milon will you show our guest to the stables on your way back to the meal hall and have the cook send over my dinner. Good night.”

With that they group is shown the stables and get setup for the night. The loft is cramped but dry with plenty of hay to make beds. The night passes uneventful and the group wakes in the morning right before the sun.

Now as a group make your plans for what route you will take and other preparations. Remember time is a factor in your success so do not forget spells or ideas that can reduce the time of your travel. I will be adding weather as a factor to deal with as well. I will have the current weather next to the current map on my DM Giants Profile.

We probably should have asked for mounts to speed up our travel...derp. Perhaps we should inquire here at the camp if any are available. Keanan's suggested route (counter-clockwise starting with the Elder Tree as we can cross the northern river easily and then coming back via the Ford) seems reasonable to me. We might also want to confer with Milon again to see if he knows any particular paths through the woods that are faster or safer to expedite our journey.

@DM Giants: Does my character (or Serila) know what "Elara's Halfway House" is? It looks like we might head for that on our way back after crossing the Ford. If we are unable to secure any mounts here, perhaps at least one could be requested to be available for us on our return back to at least speed up those last 12 miles back to Falcon's Hollow a little bit.

@Alperion

From what you know of the town and who runs it, mounts would be hard to come by and they would not help much in the forest anyhow. Elara's Halfway house is an Orphanage.

Milon explains that many of the trails are small game trails and it can be easy to get lost. He also warns the group of the Fey both good and bad and the animals both wild and magical that roam the forest. "I myself have been fooled by and spotted many Fey creatures luckily not to my determent. Do not trust the Fey, even tho some are good at heart they my not help you in the way that you would like. This forest is very old and many of the dark deep holes still have ancient beast in them. Do not stray from the trails and keep your guard up."

In the morning Serila gets up and stretches. She packs her bedroll and puts it inside her bag. After readying herself for the journey they'll be making, she walks over to the others. "You ready? I still suggest taking the route Keanan mentioned, as it will lead us to all the ingredients. Anyone thinks otherwise, or maybe has some extra ideas?"

Didn't sleep too bad actually. No one tried anything funny, so that's good. Though I'm glad I randomly took my bedroll with me when I left home, or the night might've been less comfortable.

Serila takes in a deep breath, then makes a face as if in pain. She quickly straigtens her face after.

Darkmoon Wood

The forest canopy reaches high into the air, giving you the feeling of being in a grand cathedral and the brush at foot is small and sparse. There is a well traveled trail heading out the of the lumber camp which is heading in the general direction of the lake to the north. The day is pleasant for this time of year.

August takes a deep breath as he looks around, admiring the forrest. Days like this, he often thinks of his father and some fond memories of him.

August tries to make a little small talk to pass the time and get to know his companions just a bit more.

"Well, its a fair day to travel at least. I remember this one time...I had hired on with a small group keeping watch over a group merchants, heading north to Tamran. We were just passing Fort Ramgate, and the rain...the rain was just hammering down on us. Made for horrible travel.
