Nnn'tkklik'l |

@Nnn: You'll have to make Concentration checks unless you spend a move action screaming. Also, I'm not sure who you mean by "the one flying out of reach." None of the enemies are flying. From your current position, the only one you can see to target is the centurion.
you must have read it RIGHT after i posted before editing it. that was a vestige of the original post that i quoted from the last fight. it was easier to (quote) it and delete the quote tags than to type it all out mobile again. in any event, i edited it to target the templar i failed against last time
wasnt sure if i needed a concentration check since it wasnt as spell/power, but a Supernatural Ability. That said, no big deal. I assume the DC is 10+(Lv*0.5)=12, but i am not sure.
concentration check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22

Gorkhan Trask |

Gorkhan screams through the continuing pain and lashes out at the centurion in hopes that his further distraction by the Kes'trek'el alows his strike to hit home. Unfortunately the pain from the previous power and the acidic slash overcome him and the blade swings wide.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 11

Grit |

The small desert cat full attacks the templar in front of it.
Claw: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 1 = 211d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (6) = 10
Claw: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 = 111d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 3 + (3) = 12
Bite: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 = 121d6 + 3 + 1d4 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (2) = 6
Meanwhile Grit is thinking about stepping into the flank with Gorkhan but finds a bird there. So he attacks as best he can from in front of the Centurion.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 1 = 271d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Woki |

Round 2
hp: 56/41
Effects: Bless (+1 atk, +1 saves vs fear)
With spear raises high, Woki slips between Raun's legs and moves up beside the tigone to stab at the templar. The halfling darts in and thrusts at the templar's thigh, "Black one's master no help. Black one fill this one's belly soon!"
Spear Attack vs Templar: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 1 = 13

DM Under a Dark Sun |

Not sure what's up with Raun, so I'll bot her for now.
You can see in the centurion's eyes that he doesn't expect to live more than a few seconds longer. Surrounded on all sides, he somehow manages to fight off Nnn'tkklik'l 's repeated attempts to enter his mind while doing battle in the physical realm, as well.
As Daina's summoned kes'trekel scratches at his back, the centurion catches Gorkhan's thrust with his shield. The block leaves his flank exposed long enough for Grit to dart in and carve a deep gash in the man's side.
Groaning, the man spins, the point of glowing sword drooping. Seeing the centurion's weakness, Raun roars and leaps over the trestle table. Her hammer crashes down, crushing the centurion in an explosion of wood, stone and blood.
The tigone downs the other templar to the south, after which Woki runs up and stabs the black-robed corpse a few times for good measure.
Facing the southern passage, Daina looses her spell, catching the undead gladiators and the robed woman in an arcane web. The spell proves to be no lasting barrier, however. Seconds later, both corpse warriors tear free of the webs and advance on Daina, eyes glowing black as they raise their tridents.
The robed woman curses as she weaves a spell, blasting away an arc of the webs with black fire. Her own robes smoldering, she advances as the fire eats away at the webs that remain. In the fire's light you can see arcane sigils tattooed on her brow marking her as one of Kalak's necromancers. She takes 5 damage from the flames, which are still burning along the edge of the web (the red dots)
~~~~~~~~oo~~~~~~~~
Illumination:The mess hall is well-lit by several hanging braziers. The hallways are dimly-lit by rush torches. Grit and Raun's crystals cast light in a 30-foot radius, double that for anyone with low-light vision.
Combat Round 3
Initiative Group 1: Däina, Nnn'tkklik'l, Raun, Woki, Gorkhan, Grit
Initiative Group 2: Undead and Robed Woman
Centurion's Will save vs. collection: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Centurion's Will save vs. collection: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Robed woman concentration check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Burning web damage to woman: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Raun |
Raun looks around for more enemies as she splatters the Centurion, after a moment hearing Daina's cries she looks doubtfully at the narrow passage. She quickly shakes her head, gesturing at the other's and the passage with her bloody hammer. She then moves past the others, vaulting over what remains of the middle table, moving to the end of the third to peer through the two other exits.
Grit |
Difficult Terrain only lasts for a total of 5 rounds, but I believe it still is in effect.
Grit activates his Prescience, Offensive (standard action) while screaming with the pain of the lingering spell. He mentally commands his Tigone to (double move) to guard the door to the north. Place the cat to the left side of the entry way into the room so that anything entering provokes from it.
Woki |
Round 3
hp: 56/41
Effects: Bless(+1 atk, +1 saves vs fear), Shield of Faith (+2 deflection to AC)
Move Action: Move 20' back down the hallway toward Däina.
Standard Action: Cast shield of faith on self.
Woki plants a foot on the dead templar and wiggles the spear deeper into bloody flesh. The halfling lets out a whoop of victory before turning to the sounds of explosions and fighting going on back down the hallway. Scurrying forward, Woki takes a moment to chime another plea to the spirits*.
Gorkhan Trask |
Who is who on that map? Aside from the lack of legend, I can't zoom in far enough to tell what's an enemy vs. what's just a mark on the map. Like there's a light blue in the corridor near what I'm guessing are the two undead. I assume it's Daina. Who is in the corridor beside her (seems like the same color as Raun)? Is the necromancer way back surrounded by the lines and fire dots? What is the green spot at the bottom? And are there two more folks in the northern room?
Sorry, this inability to look at google on my work computer kinda sucks. Looking at it on my phone browser seems to have some limitations and it doesn't show up in my recent docs for my Drive app, so I don't know if that would work better or not.
DM Under a Dark Sun |
Sorry about the map. I realized after posting it that I moved some layers around and accidentally covered up the legend. Also, the last two maps have been really large, which makes them hard to view on mobile. I'll shoot for smaller maps in the future now that I know that happens.
As to your specific questions: Daina is the light blue dot in the southern corridor. Nnn, the brown dot, is three squares east of her. There are two undead gladiators in the spaces due south of Daina, and the necromancer south of that, amid the burning webs. The greenish circle south of that is a well drawn on the map.
There are two more enemies in the room north of the mess hall, signified by the brown circles ringed by black. Raun will be able to see them after moving - it's a pair of well-armed tareks - but the rest of you in the mess hall can hear them moving around.
Raun |
Ah yes, difficult terrain, forgot about that. well action stands, double moving.
DM Under a Dark Sun |
Raun advances across the mess hall, picking her way carefully through the debris left over from Grit's spell. As she reaches the northeast corner, she spots movement in two directions. To the east, several more black-robed templars are approaching, moving cautiously with spears at the ready. To the north, a pair of muscle-bound tareks - Vackus's bodyguards, based on the description given by the half-elf at the Crystal Spider - have taken position, bone-bladed halberds in their hands. Beyond them, a dwarf in an ebony breastplate stalks down the hall, a spike iron mace clenched in one massive fist while another draws forth a parchment scroll.
It must be Vackus. He doesn't appear happy to see you.
Illumination:The mess hall is well-lit by several hanging braziers. The hallways are dimly-lit by rush torches. Grit and Raun's crystals cast light in a 30-foot radius, double that for anyone with low-light vision.
Combat Round 3-continued
Initiative Group 1: Däina, Nnn'tkklik'l, Gorkhan Raun, Woki, Grit[/b]
Initiative Group 2: Templars
Däina, Nnn'tkklik'l, Gorkhan are up! I trimmed down the map a bit so hopefully it's larger/easier to read. Also note: all but the southwest corner of the mess hall is difficult terrain through the end of Round 5. Gorkhan, Raun, Nnn'tkklik'l and Grit are affected by howling agony until the end of Round 8.
Däina |
Great, more enemies. I'm considering just man moding these guys with some of my extra fireballs. Hmm. DM, if I take a 5 foot step to either direction would I still provoke if I cast a spell? Not sure how corners work with that.
DM Under a Dark Sun |
Great, more enemies. I'm considering just man moding these guys with some of my extra fireballs. Hmm. DM, if I take a 5 foot step to either direction would I still provoke if I cast a spell? Not sure how corners work with that.
I had to search a bit for this, but d20PFSRD says: "You can't execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with cover relative to you." Corners provide cover, so you'd be ok.
Däina |
Woohoo! However I figured throwing a fireball around the corner would be just as hard so I'll do the concentration check.
Concentration DC 21: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Daina grabs her cinnabar bead necklace, plucking one of the beads loose. She whips it past the undead, then points at it and screams "Ixengarmth!" It explodes outwards with just a hair less force than her personal fireball, but it still packs a punch.
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 3) = 12
Throwing a fireball far enough away that it won't hit Daina but it will hit all three of the enemies she is facing.
Daina steps five feet to the east, calling her eagle over to attack the foe leading the attack.
Kes'trek'el Attacks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 91d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Nnn'tkklik'l |
concentration: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
The kreen spends a moment in quiet, if agonizing, concentration, bringing his unfocused mind back into the battle.
<<call out in mind if hurt. What are enemies doing?>>
Raun |
<<Found dwarf looking for. Has bodyguards. More templars...>> Raun grunts out along the link as she hefts her hammer and bolsters herself. She bites down on the pain wracking through her, refusing to give it voice <<Make cat-thing keep templar busy.>> she adds before moving forward, reaching through the short passage to strike at the nearest Tarek with a roar.
Only moving forward five feet to the north and attacking the Tarek. Including penalty for cover in roll. Oh and finally raging.
Modifiers: +2 bulls strength, -1 strength damage, +1 bless, -2 howling agony, -2 cover = -1 (then normal rage/power attack mods).
Earthbreaker: 1d20 + 12 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 12 - 1 = 13
Damage: 2d8 + 19 ⇒ (2, 7) + 19 = 28
Gorkhan Trask |
<<I've lost your buffer of health and am a little bloody, but it's not as bad as the agony from that centurion's power>> Gorkhan screams again and then crouches down as he focuses his mind, regaining his psionic focus.
Move: Scream
Standard: Psionic Focus
Stealth cover vs enemies (not that it matters if I have to scream again)?
Stealth: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (2) + 23 = 25
Raun |
Well if all you're doing is regaining your focus you don't really need to scream :) Next turn you probably would though yeah, so unlikely to get the drop on something unless you just take the -2
DM Under a Dark Sun |
Daina flings the cinnabar bead into the southern passage, where it explodes, burning away the remaining webs. It appears to have little effect on the approaching undead. The nearest is unharmed, ignoring the flames completely. The other, still within the flammable webs, appears scorched, and the necromancer curses as she pats out some small flames on her black robes.
As Daina backs away, the kes'trek'el fails to damage the lead corpse, either. Note, it would have only one attack since it moved.
The revivified warrior skewers the bird on its trident, the shining blue creature dissolving as the gladiator continues its advance. Its partner moves up, as well, stabbing at Daina around the corner. Stone cracks as the weapon gouges holes in the wall, but Daina is unharmed.
The necromancer follows close behind, touching the southernmost gladiator's shoulder and channeling some sort of dark energy into its withered flesh.
In the mess hall, Nnn'tkklik'l and Gorkhan regain their psionic focus. Gorkhan hunkers down behind a table, hidden until he has to scream again.
More enemies begin rushing in. From the east, several black-robed templars charge down the hall toward Raun, who tries to smash one but is blocked by the narrow passage. Raun, it wasn't your turn to act yet so I used your attack roll above for the attack of opportunity. The first templar charges in, stabbing Raun in the leg. 10 damage after DR, soaked by temp hp. The two templars behind him throw their spears. One goes wide but the other plunges into a gap in Raun's armor, its barbed head sinking deep into her flesh. Critical hit, 20 damage after DR, eliminating remaining temp HP and doing 10 damage to HP.
To the north, Vackus utters the words to a spell and the scroll he holds bursts into flames from which two blinding white rays of light shoot out. The first strikes Grit's tigone, blinding it. Blind until the end of the next round.[ooc] The second strikes Raun, but the half-giant closes her eyes in time to avoid being blinded.
On cue, the tareks charge in. The first rushes past the blind tigone and slams into Raun, pushing her back and making room for the other to advance. Closing with the blind tigone, the second tarek slashes at the beast around the corner, but the powerful strike is blocked within the confined space.
[ooc]You're up! The tigone is blinded til the end of this round, difficult terrain is present until the end of Round 5. Gorkhan, Raun, Nnn'tkklik'l and Grit are affected by howling agony until the end of Round 8.
~~~~~~~~oo~~~~~~~~
Illumination:The mess hall is well-lit by several hanging braziers. The hallways are dimly-lit by rush torches. Grit and Raun's crystals cast light in a 30-foot radius, double that for anyone with low-light vision.

Däina |

Daina steps back from the creatures, glad that her summons distracted the front one. Once standing on top of Woki she yells "Tairais yuna!" then shifts ten feet farther to the east.
Raun, Gorkhan, Grit, and Grit's tigone are currently under the effects of haste for 5 rounds.

Raun |

Fair enough. I didn't realize it was still the same round :)
Ouch, crit :( At least we've kept them fairly bunched up.
Raun grunts as the Tarek plows into her, sending her stumbling back, threatening to topple her in the rocky terrain. She quickly regains her balance, glaring between the two Tareks and the templar before her. As Daina's spell settles upon her, she focuses in on the templar before her, raising her hammer high.
Even as she brings it down on the first robed figure something... strange seems to be happening to her face. Her tattooed visage seems to be rippling, bulging, pressing against the sides of her open helm. As she raises her hammer again--faster than could be believed--a sickening cracking sound precedes a horrible transformation. The tattoo covering her face seems to grow, spreading out onto her helm, the lines growing more defined, and now the helm itself seems to be bulging, changing. Mere moments later the transformation is complete as from Raun's broad shoulders emerges the terrifying, drooling visage of a nightmare beast. Her hammer swings, and the giantess leans forward and down, maw opening wider than can be believed, as if to envelop the templar's head whole.
Addition of haste means Raun's has more bonuses than penalties again (assuming no cover). Huzzah! :p

Psionic Leech (vs. Tarek? Not sure who's more likely to have PP): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 power points

Grit |

The Tigone knows where an enemy is and attacks with claw and tooth. But it is blind and only have its attacks have a chance of landing (high is always good for me.) and likely only one does.
Claw: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 = 231d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 3 + (2) = 10, Miss Chance: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Claw: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 1 = 101d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 3 + (5) = 13, Miss Chance: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Bite: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 1 = 141d4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 3 + (1) = 7, Miss Chance: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Claw, Haste: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 = 121d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (2) = 7, Miss Chance: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Grit concentrates to cast a spell and then, using his enhanced move from haste closes into melee with the same enemy that his tigone attacks.
Concentrate to cast Resinous Skin: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 DC is 21, so success.

Woki |

Round 4
hp: 56/41
Effects: Bless(+1 atk, +1 saves vs fear), Shield of Faith (+2 deflection to AC)
Move Action: 5' step to take up the spot vacated by Däina.
Standard Action: Attack lead undead gladiator with spear.
Spear Attack vs Undead Gladiator: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 + 1 = 30
Critical Confirm: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 1 = 26
Spear Normal Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
If Critical, Spear Additional Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 6) + 10 = 17
As Däina steps past Woki, the halfling hops forward to take the place left open by the elf-blood. The withered flesh of the undead gladiator elicits a growl of disgust from Woki. Resolve steeled, Woki intones a prayer to the rain spirits and plunges the spear upward into the chest of the unclean one, "Dead feed the ground, no walk with living!"

DM Under a Dark Sun |

To the south, Daina briefly disappears from sight before casting a spell that speeds the hearts of her friends in the mess hall.
Invigorated, Raun's hammer rises and falls like a thunderbolt, transforming the closest templar into a boneless pile of meat and black cloth. The raging half-giant turns her attention to the tarek that shoved her, smashing him with her hammer and tearing flesh with her suddenly monstrous muzzle.
The tigone attacks in a frenzy, its vision clearing as it claws at the tarek's throat, the last charge of Grit's frostbite spell freezing the blood that springs from the wound.
Stepping into the space vacated by Daina, Woki's blessed spear plunges into the chest of the closest undead gladiator, it's fire-hardened point disrupting whatever fell incantation had animated the rotten flesh. Suddenly lifeless, the corpse clatters to the ground at the halfling's feet.
Gorkhan and Nnn'tkklik'l are up, then the bad guys.

Illumination:The mess hall is well-lit by several hanging braziers. The hallways are dimly-lit by rush torches. Grit and Raun's crystals cast light in a 30-foot radius, double that for anyone with low-light vision.

Initiative Group 1: Gorkhan, Nnn'tkklik'l, Däina, Raun, Woki, Grit
Initiative Group 2: Templars

Nnn'tkklik'l |

i think Raun and Gorkhan are the ones who lost their temp HP, so Nnn will refresh those. Please inform me if I am wrong
Nnn'tkklik'l will spend 5 PP to manifest Vigor on Raun and Gorkhan, who the tanning of leather as the barrier they are accustomed to wading into battle with once again appears around their bodies.
concentration: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
spend 1 PP for the power, 3 PP to augment to 20 HP given, then 1 PP to augment via (Medic Powers + Spirit of Many) to bestow the amount to an additional target.

Gorkhan Trask |

The pain knifing through him, Gorkhan remains quiet, slipping past the others to confront one of the templars coming from the east. Unfortunately the pain distracted him from the focus of his attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

DM Under a Dark Sun |

Nnn'tkklik'l concentrates, pouring protective energy into Raun and Gorkhan's body through the collective.
Invigorated, Gorkhan tumbles into place next to the half-giant, holding off the remaining templars with a flashy but ill-timed slash of his blade. Having thrown his spear, the lead templar readies a heavy stone mace while his companion mutters the words to some spell and gestures towards Gorkhan.
The bard shrugs off the spell with ease, but it provides enough distraction that the templar in front is able to land a heavy blow that would have cracked a rib if not for the psionic protection. 11 damage, from temp HP.
To the north, Vackus approaches before intoning another prayer to the sorcerer-king Kalak. This time, a palpable weight falls upon you, even as the templars and tarek appear to be bolstered. He cast prayer, giving all of you in the mess hall a -1 penalty to attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks.
The tarek remains in the doorway, striking at Grit's tigone from cover with his halberd. He lands a heavy blow despite the awkward angle, carving deep into the animal's hide, which was already stripped of Nnn'tkklik'l's mental shield. 20 hp to the tigone, putting it down 25 hp overall. Note, tigone is no longer blind on its turn.
In the southern corridor, the undead gladiator thrusts its trident at Woki, the bone tines tearing through the psionic protection and pricking the halfling's flesh. 16 damage, eliminating all temp hp and causing 1 damage to hp.
The necromancer peers out from behind the protection of the hall corner, dark energy crackling around her hands. With a shout, she gestures toward Nnn'tkklik'l, whose carapace snaps and cracks as dark lightning plays across the surface. Nnn takes 22 damage and is exhausted for 7 minutes.
You're up! The difficult terrain is in effect until the end of this round. Gorkhan, Raun, Nnn'tkklik'l and Grit are affected by howling agony until the end of Round 8. All of you have bless. Everybody in the mess hall has haste as well as the negative effects of prayer. Plus various individual buffs.

Grit summons a flaming sphere onto the tarek and then moves back to the left 5 feet.

concentration: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
EDIT: The kreen moves to take cover behind the table, hunkering down and manifesting Vigor, giving himself, Woki and the Tigone 15 temp HP.

Raun |

Boneshatter! I had an oracle who loved that spell. Damn, this is a really tough fight!
Uhh, crap. Just checked Howling Agony again and realized I hadn't been taking the 2 off Raun's damage (only to hit). My bad...
Raun sways under the onslaught of spells and enemies but stands firm and quiet except for a deep growl in her now monstrous throat as she lashes out at the tarek.
Earthbreaker: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Damage: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (8, 6) + 16 = 30
Earthbreaker (Haste): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Damage: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (8, 8) + 16 = 32
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5) + 3 = 9
Geez... what a waste of some fantastic damage rolls.

Gorkhan Trask |

Gorkhan screams through the pain and lashes out with his blade at the nearby templar.
Move: Scream
Standard: Attack
If the templar goes down, 5' step to the next one.
Attack w/ Bless & Haste - Prayer: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 23
Damage -Prayer: 1d8 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 1 = 14

Däina |

Good as time as any.
Daina plucks the largest bead from her necklace, looking at it with sadness for a moment before giving it a brief kiss. She spring around the corner, then whips it sidearm behind Vackus, letting the fire erupt forwards.
Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 5, 5, 4) = 27
Moving 30' into the room, then throwing my biggest fireball right behind Vackus so that it will catch him and Tarek but nobody else.

Woki |

Round 5
hp: 40/41
Effects: Bless(+1 atk, +1 saves vs fear), Shield of Faith (+2 deflection to AC)
Standard Action: Attack the undead gladiator with spear.
Spear Attack vs Undead Gladiator: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 = 29
Spear Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
A growl of pain slips out of Woki after the undead's stabbing with the trident which the halfling returns the favor by again driving the spear into withered flesh.

DM Under a Dark Sun |

Gorkhan cuts down one of the templars and advances on the other as Raun unleashes a flurry of blows that fail to connect with the canny tarek.
The tigone lands a lucky blow against the well-armored tarek (I rolled to see if the critical confirmed but no luck)[ooc] but the stocky warrior dodges out of the way of Grit flaming sphere.
Däina and Nnn'tkklik'l advance into the mess hall. As the thri-kreen again bolsters his clutch mates, the half-elf flings a cinnabar bead down the hall behind Vackus. It erupts in a ball of fire that scorches both Vackus and the tarek, although neither is badly burned. [ooc](Both made saves for half damage)
To the south, Woki jabs at the undead gladiator, although his spear barely seems to prick the zombie's leathery flesh.
The rotting warrior responds by stabbing the halfling again, almost tearing through his new protection. The necromancer chants the same foul spell and Woki feels his very bones begin to crack and weaken. Woki takes 13 from the trident blow and 17 from the spell, removing the temp hp he/she just got and doing 15 damage to hp. Woki is also now exhausted.
In the east, the remaining templar swings clumsily at Gorkhan as the tarek moves forward, slashing at Raun with its halberd. Slowed by pain and Vackus's unholy prayer, the half-giant barely avoids the powerful blow.
Scorched by Grit's flaming sphere, Vackus steps up behind the advancing tarek and raises a heavy iron mace while intoning a prayer to Kalak that causes the weapon to take on the same dark glow that the centurion's sword emitted. The dwarf templar brings the weapon down in a savage blow that crushes the stone floor where the tigone - saved only by its magically-augmented reflexes - had been crouched.
You're up! The difficult terrain is gone. Gorkhan, Raun, Nnn'tkklik'l and Grit are affected by howling agony until the end of Round 8. Grit, the tigone and Raun are suffering the negative effects of prayer through Round 12. The three of them, plus Gorkhan, are hasted through Round 9. Plus various individual buffs.
[ooc]~~~~~~~~oo~~~~~~~~
Illumination:The mess hall is well-lit by several hanging braziers. The hallways are dimly-lit by rush torches. Grit and Raun's crystals cast light in a 30-foot radius, double that for anyone with low-light vision.

Standard Action: Drop Magic Circle vs Evil to cast Cure Serious Wounds on undead gladiator.

Concentration Check to Cast Defensively (DC21): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (6, 5, 8) + 5 = 24
Bones feeling like they had just been put in a meal grinder, Woki wavers and clutches at the spear to keep standing. The halfling grabs the piece of burnt wood that serves as a holy symbol and loudly cries out a prayer to the spirits which causes Woki's hand to begin to glow a brilliant blue. The small cleric suddenly lashes out at the undead warrior and allows all that cleansing energy to wash through the creature.

Grit |

Hmm. I had rolled to confirm that crit myself. Not sure what happened to it. I had a 20 after the -4 for 6 additional points of damage. I feel robbed by the board. Bless is canceling the prayer for the to hit part anyway. :(
The hasted tigone unloads his full attacks on the tarek before 5' stepping back (now that the difficult terrain is gone.
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 141d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Hasted Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 151d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Wow - those are some pretty bad rolls.
Grit steps up 5' and slices into the creature with two quick attacks.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 121d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Scimitar: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 281d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Confirm: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 231d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Grit |

OK, what about 23…Note that even when I am hitting, which has not been often recently damage has been subpar.

Raun |

With the troublesome rubble crumbling to dust underfoot Raun advances to loom over the Tarek, and does her best to take advantage of his split attention.
+2 vs. Tarek for flank. If it fell to Grit's attacks before Raun goes, she will sidestep to have a straight line at Vackus (leaving space in front of her for someone else to attack)
Earthbreaker (Haste): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Damage: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (2, 6) + 16 = 24

Nnn'tkklik'l |

make sure you all are asking for healing if you feel you need it. i can't always keep track of how bad you are hurting
also, GM, i can't tell the robed woman and tarek dots apart, the colors are too similar.
The kreen will expend psionic focus to try to get lucky and pull Vackus into the collective as a move action.
If that works, he will try to drain him as a standard. If not, he will try again to pull him in as a standard.
concentration: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
i know Vackus isn't really a wise choice to target with a will safe, but i have precious little else. almost out of PP, and the tarek and templar are likely very close to death, making the multiple actions to drain them even once very wasteful. better to try a few times and finally succeed vs Vackus, and be able to drain much more from him

Raun |

Raun's good. She's down ten but has most if not all of the temp HP left.

Grit |

Grit has not (yet) been hit, and still has his original temporary hit points. His togone is quite wounded, but also has some recent temps.

Gorkhan Trask |

Gorkhan grits his teeth as his blade flashes out against the remaining templar.
Full-round: Full attack
If it goes down after the first, move to flank the tarek with the tigone.
If it goes down after the second, 5' step towards the tarek
If it doesn't go down, then still take 5' towards tarek.
Attack #1 w/ Bless & Haste - Agony: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 19

Attack #2 w/ Bless & Haste - Agony: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 19
Damage - Agony: 1d8 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 2 = 12
@Nnn: I try to keep my header up to date, but even so, I'll let you know if it becomes an emergency.

DM Under a Dark Sun |

A flash of blue light erupts in the southern corridor as Woki slams a glowing fist into the undead gladiator, driving out whatever dark force had animated it. Stepping over the rotting corpse, he advances on the necromancer.
Uncertainty in her eyes, she backs up down the hall before spitting out the words to a spell. Pointing the ebony rod at Woki, she sends a sends a ghostly hand streaking toward the halfling. The incantation turns into a curse as the exhausted halfling ducks beneath the attack.
In the mess hall, Grit's tigone retreats after failing to land a blow against the burly tarek. Stepping up to take its place, the mul slices through the tarek's defenses, his steel scimitar carving a bloody gash across the tarek's back.
Howling, the tarek spins under the first blow of Raun's hammer but is caught by the backswing as the half-giant moves into a flanking position. Seconds later Raun bites down on the tarek's thick skull, spraying blood and brains over herself and Grit.
Cutting down the remaining templar with a pair of well-aimed strikes, Gorkhan turns but is unable to advance past Raun.
Iron-willed Vackus brushes off Nnn'tkklik'l mental attacks with a grim smile. Uttering another prayer to Kalak, the stone-faced dwarf turns his heavy iron mace on Raun. Crackling with dark energy, the weapon smashes into the half-giant, blasting through her psionic protections. (28 damage after DR, eliminating temp HP and causing 8 damage to hp.
The dwarf then retreats a few steps down the hallway, the fire of Grit's flaming sphere raising welts on his skin.
"Come now, assassins. Who has the stone to trade blows with the master of Kalak's arena?" he says, mace held ready.
You're up! Gorkhan, Raun, Nnn'tkklik'l and Grit are affected by howling agony until the end of Round 8. Grit, the tigone and Raun are suffering the negative effects of prayer through Round 12. The three of them, plus Gorkhan, are hasted through Round 9. Everybody has bless, plus various individual buffs.

flaming sphere damage: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5) = 11

Grit |

Seeing that most of the enemy have fallen here Grit commands his pet to guard Woki and to attack the enemies to the south. This second part is a complex command outside the anima's training so Grit pushes the animal to do this task. DC20
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
This fails so I would say that the Tigone goes and guards Woki from melee attacks only.
Knowing that Raun can reach over him Grit steps forward and uses his attacks to try to score a hit on Vackus.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 2 + 2 = 301d8 + 7 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 - 2 = 8
Scimitar: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 10 - 2 + 2 = 13 A sure miss
Scimitar: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 - 2 + 2 = 281d8 + 7 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 - 2 = 15

Nnn'tkklik'l |

Fed up, the kreen charges his staff with energy, telepathically screaming in strange clicks as it unleashes it at Vackus with a loud burst of sonic energy. (5PP spent)
ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
sonic: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1) = 12 DC 18 reflex halves
DC 18 STR check or he is knocked back 15ft into that table, taking
bludgeoning: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2) = 8 more damage

Däina |

Round 6
Daina moves over to Woki, casting bull's strength on him.
Round 7
Daina moves back into the room, then casts silent image behind Vackus. It manifests as a glowing, blue and white clawed angelic figure who raises his arms threateningly. Daina gives him a laugh. "How about you fight him!"
