I'm looking for players to round out a long-term Dark Heresy campaign for mature, dedicated players.
The game will begin soon, and OOC post will be going up as soon as the final grouping of players has been determined.
Players will create characters as described in the Dark Heresy Core Rulebook, though all published Dark Heresy supplements may be used. I am currently look for two additional characters and two alternates to round out a group that already includes the following Paizonites:
Radavel
Lorm Dragonheart
Balfic-Graa
This will not be first come, first served, so don't feel like you missed out because three people posted before you. Please post a short paragraph encapsulating your character concept for review, and after a suitable number of applicants have been obtained I will choose two more to play in the game, with two alternates. The emphasis will be on both story and action, so every type of character will have a chance to shine.
These three bits of information may be helpful for character creation:
1. As acolytes, your patron inquisitor is Daemonhunter Ahmazzi, of the Ordo Malleus and Tyrantine Cabal as written in the DH core rulebook. Old, pessimistic, cynical and a rumored to have Radical leanings, he is far more that just the write-up in the book, however.
2. The campaign will be focused on a long-term mission to a single, isolated world known as Oremor in the Malfian Subsector. Although my creation, Oremor is positioned in the grid just below the "S" in the word "Sector" in the Malfian Sub-Sector on the two-page map (p. 288) in the DH core rulebook, spinward of Dusk. Characters can opt to be from this world and recent recruits to the Inquisition. It predominantly would be considered a hive world, but also has a continent sized penal colony given over to agriculture that is worked by prisoner labor.
More to come on this world and its background.
3. There will be a campaign wiki we will utilize as the story progresses that will consolidate NPC information, details on Oremor and the investigations thus far for ease of reference.
This game will be something of a commitment. Daily posting is preferred, and please, only consider joining if you are dedicated to the long haul, as your GM most certainly will be.
Just some background on me. I have been DM'ing/GM'ing games from Basic D&D to Call of Cthulhu to 3.5 D&D for 26 of my 34 years of life. This will be my first Dark Heresy game, but I am very familiar with the tone and feel of the Warhammer 40K setting and am looking forward very much to exploring the setting through your characters.

I am thinking along the lines of a young Guardsman called Albrek who has deserted from his regiment after seeing all his comrades slain. Picked up by associates of the Inquisitor he was offered a choice - "serve me or face return to your regiment and be dealt with by the Commissars." Obviously, the choice was an easy one, although Albrek still fears the chance that he may once again falter under stressful conditions and flee once more.
I will flesh this out a bit more, but it's a start.

kk, I looked at some stuff online; looks like 25+2d10 for stats; then your two origin paths change some stuff; i could use some help for that so I have a toon ready if I get in the game. I see the origin path and career path stuff.
I printed out a character sheet at the Fantasy Flight website.
Sure would be helpful if you got in touch with me Lorm.
Val
Val,
Balfic and I both have the books.

Hi Rook,
Here is what I have as a concept so far.

![]() |

Hi all, just a quick post from work (have a double shift today). Thanks for posting so quickly, I'm glad there is a lot of interest.
Lorm, the idea looks solid thus far, good concept, I need to take a few to make sure the nuts and bolts are OK, though.
Balfic, I'd recommend something a little less Eldar-specific. A similar character more focused on things of interest to the Ordo Malleus (Daemons, etc) might have more traction over the life of this campaign.
Dr. Dark, like the concept. It might not hurt to have Albrek have his origins on Oremor. A local character will have some advantages as an ad-hoc guide to the other characters. Perhaps Albrek is making his first return home in some time.
Val, please send me a valid email address at rookseye at yahoo dot com, I may have something that will help you with character creation.
I'll be posting more soon, so far it looks like we have four, as Dr. Dark's character looks pretty solid.

For Rookseye
He is a member of Adeptus Arbites. His dedication to the enforcement of the Emperor's Law is unquestioned. But he also believes that punishment should only be imposed upon proper investigation.
His investigation into a series of bizarre deaths brought him into the attention of the Inquisition.
In the words of the Inquisitor, "Boy, your investigations into these matters shall continue only under the auspices of my authority. Do you accept these terms?"
"Yes."

Was browsing over at FFG's, and found what the next three releases are going to be for Dark Heresy.
The Radicals Handbook-which we have known for awhile. Release date this fall. Cost is $50.
Damned Cities-Part 2 of the Haarlock Legacy. Should be a great read.
Ascension-Rules for continuing our characters past the current xp max.
As for my character, have everything rolled up, just need to pick my class. Going to send you an email with an idea about my character.

OK, here is a summary of players/characters thus far. Please let me know if I have made any errors.
Looking at the list as it stands now Balfic-Graa and Valegrim both are considering Assassin. A good choice, but probably not one we'd necessarily want to double up on. Balfic has also suggested Scum for his character and a cleric of some type seems to be the secondary consideration for Val at this point who still is leaving his options open on what to play.
Although we have five, I will leave the recruitment open until we have five or more complete characters.
1. Lorm Dragonheart/Character: Uriah Trantor, Imperial Psyker [complete]
2. Dr. Dark/Character: Albrek, Imperial Guardsman [complete]
3. Balfic-Graa/Character: Possible Assassin or Scum, goal of Tyrantine Shadow Agent [incomplete]
4. Radavel/Character: Juan "Johnnie" Rico, Arbitrator [incomplete]
5. Valegrim/Character: Possible Assassin or Cleric (Hive World Missionary)[incomplete]

hehe I just learned that thrones are the money; so am buying gear; any special rules? are prices just right out of the book for starting dudes?
am thinking to trade upgrade my armor to full set of flack instead of just flak vest or chain vest from the starting gear and maybe buy a rebreather just in case.

Also Lorm, I have checked over your character and everything looks great. Thanks for being thorough. I have transferred him over to some of my own DH form-field pdf's that I will make available to you guys on the wiki once we get started. Feel free to use the blanks for your own games too, they were a labor of love.
I will be going over the other completed characters tonight and tomorrow morning.

Val, You have a total of 400 xps to spend. What you spend it on depends on your career path. You can spend them on either stat increases. skills or talents. You can spend 100 xp on increases of BS, WP, and/or Fel. The skills(this is based on your cleric at first level) you can take are: awareness, common lore(ecclesiarchy), drive(ground vehicle), Inquiry, pilot(Civilian craft), swim, trade(cook), and trade(copyist) for 100xp each. Or you can take the talents: basic weapon training(primitive), pistol training(las), pistol training(primitive), pistol training(SP), resistance(cold), resistance(heat), and sound constitution(up to three times) for 100 xps ea.
If you spend xp on a background it does not count towards your next level.
I hope this helps

OK, I'm hard at work checking over characters sheets, converting them to the form-field pdf sheets for download, and finalizing the wiki page.
IC and OOC posts should be going up for sometime Monday 09/17, and then the game will begin. Feel free to brainstorm character backgrounds, relationships and origins (if Orermor) in this post until then.

OK, I have looked over all of the character sheets and here is where things stand:
1. Uriah Trantor: Complete, no further edits.
2. Albrek: I'm pretty sure you need still need to spend 100XP Dr. Dark. Your background cost 300XP and I see no other expenditures. I have also bumped up your Toughness to 30 and wounds to 12 by DM fiat. Your honesty in rolling your starting attributes was evident in the low numbers, ;)
3. Juan Rico: Complete, no further edits.
4. Savalos: Complete, no further edits.
5. Ishmael: OK, Val, a few things. You still have 200XP to by my count. I also changed your one of your weapon trainings from Primitive: Thrown Weapons to Primitive: Basic, as the latter is used to be skilled in crossbow, which you selected as a weapon.
For Dr. Dark and Valegrim, please post with your preferred advances and I will update the pdf sheets that will be posted to the wiki for Monday night. If I have made any errors, please let me know.
Thanks again for being patient for the game to start. You have my assurance that it will be worth the wait!

my preference would be to not have x bow; but rather have auto pistol and las pistol as a skill but that didnt seem to be an option. I also want to sell back my chain coat and get full flack armor; I think I have the cash for this; and a rebreather if I have any cash left. then maybe some bullets; 6 is not very many but if I have a laz pistol; my slugthrower will be my holdout gun. I would like to spend the 200 points on two skills: carouse and inquiry. I am thinking the skills rather than increase to my ability scores would give me more playability as there are probably some thugs in the group who are more fight oriented at the start.
Its my thought that my character is right out of the training monestary; right after the "take this pebble from my hand; no really take it and go; go yes leave" Gotta go redeem some heathons :>
But am good with any kind of start, just let me know.

OK Val, don't worry too much about firepower or ammunition, as the story will allow for ample opportunities in this regard. That said, I gave you five additional reloads for the pistol. I will add the re-breather and subtract the necessary throne gelt.
I'm putting you down for Carouse and Inquiry, but if you prefer, you can take Pistol Training (Las) instead of one of these skills and I will provide you with a las pistol and charge pack to start with.
Also, full flak armor is a bit much for a firebrand (literally) cleric, at least initially, but as I said above, things will rather quickly transpire to give you more options with armour and armament if you so choose. You are agents of the inquisition, after all. What is the fun of having the ear of the Munitorium if you can't requisition things once in a while?
I will hold off on posting the sheets until I hear from Dr. Dark about his last 100XP. They are otherwise ready to go, and the campaign should begin early this week. Just let me know your preference on the skills/las pistol training, Val.

OK guys, thanks for the feedback. The character sheets will be complete by tonight, and I will be posting a link to the wiki no later than tomorrow evening (just sorting out some final flavor text). I am hoping to have the OOC and IC threads up shortly after.
From the looks of things, there are three Oremor natives:
Albrek, Juan, and Savalos
...and two off-worlders:
Ishmael, from Gunmetal City on Scintilla, and Uriah, who, as a psyker, has been in Ahmazzi's service three years longer than the rest of the group.
Interestingly, only Uriah has a non-Hiver origin. While it is true that the Oremorites have some things in common, they also come from drastically different backgrounds on their homeworld.
The assumption here is that Albrek, Juan, Savalos, and Ishmael have recently completed two years of intensive offworld training and conditioning for service under Inquisitor Ahmazzi. The three Oremorites almost certainly have given up on the possibility of returning to Oremor, or in any way resuming their previous lives. It comes as a something of a shock for all of them to learn that they are returning to their homeworld. Ishmael's Redemptionist fringe cult leanings have made for an interesting match to the group as a whole to say the least. Finally, Uriah, although present for and involved in this training, is longer tenured in service to Ahmazzi, but is initiating his first true mission in his master's name.
Since you have all had two years of rigorous indoctrination together, you are a fairly cohesive unit that is knowledgeable about the personalities, tendencies, and foibles of the others. This is not to say that you all necessarily get along all the time, but you know how to work as a team, maximizing your talents and minimizing your shortcomings. I am looking forward to the interpersonal interactions from such a diverse group, so have fun with the character to character roleplay in addition to the game itself.

I have a question. How do I address the Inquisitor? Would it be Master Ahmazzi, since the psykers lives are in the Inquisitor's hands, or would it be Inquisitor Ahmazzi, for the respect of the title?
Either is acceptable, I would imagine it would vary somewhat by the individual, the inquisitor in question, and the duration/nature of their relationship.
Master is an appropriate honorific I think, particularly for newer Acolytes and especially psykers because of their relative thralldom in the feudal structure of the Imperium.
I could see experienced Acolytes who would be entitled to call their inquisitor by their first name, particularly in the case of certain radicals who have stripped away the pomp and circumstance of the station to get things done. My take on Ahmazzi is that although he is something of a radical, he still cleaves strongly to the fundamental trappings of tradition, likely as some measure of reassuring himself he has not strayed to far from the Emperor's light.
