OK, recruiting is closed again for the time being.
Welcome to Davi and Wrath!
I will be moving the posts over to the OOC thread once again.
Hi,
I am following your IC-OOC threads and have read that you may be considering taking new characters. If yes, I would like to apply to take a new char.Preferred class: none, I do not mind taking any available class.
Previous Experience:I have played only 1 game in dark Heresy last year "EoD".
Rather than posting in the OOC one, I prefer to throw it here and see.
By the way, new in this site, is there any way to select the print option to capture the previous posts?
Cheers from Madrid.

Hi Likantron, welcome!
I appreciate your interest in the game, and we have been considering taking on new characters. If you would like, please generate a character using the DH rulebooks with 900XP total in advances. A blank character sheet can be found on the wiki here. You can send it as an attachment to rookseye at yahoo dot com for review.
Pretty much any of the core career paths are open to you, as I prefer to mesh a player's character concept into the existing game rather than dictate what someone should play for an archetype. I only ask that you be flexible with how the character fits into the overall story and be patient until a reasonably sensible entry point can be made into the campaign.
Although I do not require a comprehensive knowledge of the rules to join, familiarity with the nature of the 40K universe is pretty important. The good thing is, everyone else is very familiar with both the rules and the setting and are more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Oh, and if you can find a means to conveniently collect and print the posts, please let me know about it. I've been considering doing some manner of extract to archive the existing posts, lol.
Hope to hear from you soon.

If I may be so bold as to throw my hat in, I must admit that I have been following the game for a while and the storytelling is absolutely top flight. I'll send you a concept with your OK, but would also be willing to take over one of the abandoned characters. (Ivaanov for one has been pretty loosely characterized, though he does have pretty extensive character knowledge; Albrek is fairly well defined but still has room for a deeper characterization; Ishmael would have a bit much baggage in my opinion).

By the way, new in this site, is there any way to select the print option to capture the previous posts?
Other than taking the posts and manually copy-pasting them into Word, I don't think you can.
Anyway, both of you, welcome to the game! I don't recommend taking over one of the existing characters, mainly because Ishmael and Albrek have been basically been converted completely to NPCs, and Ivaanov's player might end up coming back some day. The only class we don't have in any form is an Adept, but I don't think anyone would mind another Guardsmen, Cleric or ranged-focused Assassin. (You could go for one of the other classes too, but there might be a few issues with making yourself different enough from the existing characters)

Hi Ellipsis, looks like a little stoking of the embers has fired things up again in this thread. Feel free to generate a character and submit it to me at your convenience. I probably should have also mentioned to Likantron in the previous post that you should review the first post on the OOC thread to get a sense of the my GM preferences for players. The big one for me is to get players with staying power. These aren't hard and fast rules, but I find they make a more enjoyable game for everyone.
As far as characters go, you and Likatron should feel free to post concepts here if you want feedback from myself or the other players on what might work best. The campaign itself is getting to have quite a cast of characters, PC and NPC both, so there are a lot of avenues for new entries. Additionally, we are slowly moving toward Act II in this adventure and this will introduce a new setting of sorts and more character options.
Although I wouldn't necessarily have objections to you assuming one of the NPCs, if you were really in love with one of them as a character, but I think Davi said it best, in that they have basically become NPCs both mechanically and from a story standpoint.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Rookseye, I will send you a character sheet once I decide on a concept. It won't be in .pdf format though because I cannot save the sheet after I fill in the fields (Pretty sure this is because I have Reader and not Acrobat). Any way, I would like to bounce ideas off your players before I go any further.
I have some reservations about this one because I don't know how radical you want this campaign to go.
Concept is a lost student of the Blighted Scholia (RH 29) who currently holds a position as a rather bored bureaucrat in the Arbites or Judicium. Accidentally transfered to Oremor before the final stages of indoctrination, he barely escaped the excommunication and eradication of most of his fellows. However, he is only partially aware that his schooling was not standard Scholia Progenium (after all, its not as if the incident is public knowledge). He spends most of his time searching the reams of reports and other paperwork for interesting tidbits of information, especially on subjects where general knowledge is discouraged. He has an occasional side business as an information broker to certain underworld figures, though he generally will only trade information for very interesting information or intriguing rumors (in addition to gelt of course)
Career Path would be Adept and home world would be Scholia Progenium: Blighted.
This concept is a bit more traditional, and I don't have concerns about this character fitting in.
Concept is an underworld private investigator, who does most of his work for well to do up-hivers. Child of the mid-hive, he doesn't offend the tender sensibilities of many up-hive, but is still comfortable in the low hive hab-blocks. Most jobs involve making connections with unsavory characters, tracking down people who don't want to be found, or finding out the dirty little secrets of others. However, due to the return of the evicerator, disappearances in the lower hives are being treated much more seriously, and he has been hired to find some assumed victims whose body parts never showed up. They could have been taken by the killer, or some more mundane threat. Unfortunately, he has had very little luck finding out; though he had very cordial relations with the Duct Wolves, the ascent of the Yellobros has left him without reliable contacts. So far he has been able to get his employers to pay for checking out a few spotty leads, but he's not getting anywhere.
Career Path would be Assassin (I think it fits better than Scum or Arbitrator) and home world would be Hive (Oremor).
Please give me any suggestions/thoughts. Thanks.

Concept One:
Interesting. We can certainly use someone with some knowledge outside the Warp/criminal underworld. Someone who gets involved in all this because of curiosity instead of to confront their dark pasts will be a nice change of pace. (I'm assuming Uriah has a dark past somehow related to all this.)
Concept Two:
Don't like this one quite as much, and not just because 75% of the party already has Inquiry. I like the works of Raymond Chandler as much as the next guy, but we get one more detective on this team and we're all going to fuse into a hardboiled black hole.

Lorm Dragonheart |

Concept 1: Iinteresting concept, the only problem is the potentially high starting Insanity Points and Corruption Points. If you are willing to risk that, I am sure that Rookseye could fit it in.
Concept 2: If you play that, you will probably be conscripted into service.
Either one have skills and abilities that would be useful.
By the way, Uriah is of the 25% who does not have Inquiy.

Ellipsis |

I was leaning towards the first myself, and I think the risk of insanity and corruption is warranted for the concept. After all, in 40k curiosity doesn't just kill the cat, it turns the cat into a cthulhian monstrosity first. Also, not to step on Uriah's toes, but I figured you guys could use more than one expert on Things Man was not Meant to Know if the group splits up again. I'll stat both up just in case.

Balfic-graa |

I like the first concept alot better as well. Figure between Savalos, Iacton, and Johnnie we would have P.I abilities covered. I was planning on eventually taking Peer: Nobility it will just take awhile on Sav's tree.
My eventual goal was to have him take alot of Xeno's knowledges. Specifically Eldar. Still waiting for a tree to allow me to take the skills I need for that. Hopefully when Ascension comes out. As far as knowledges man was not meant to know. They are all yours. =)
I am sure you all will have a great time in Rook's game. I know we all do.

I also have to say that I like the concept of #1, Ellipsis. Remember, the most important aspect of the character concept for me is that you want to play it. We're all here just to assist your choice in fitting into the framework of the campaign. There are a great many avenues for introducing just about any type of character into the campaign from Oremor, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm not at home at the moment, so I would just like to check into the Blighted Scholia background to confirm its feasibility, once I have access to books.
The second concept reminds me a bit of the P.I. that Savalos spoke to in the Gear Box, definitely doable, but the first concept seems to be a lot more interesting. As a sustainable character over the long-term it would be tougher as well, as the action could very soon be moving away from the Hive.
Now, some manner of functionary in one of the southern plantation claustrums, that has some traction...
Don't worry about the .pdf either, DH characters are easy enough for me to backfill, so if you post it as a profile for the character, I can easily transcribe it to my sheet.

Great news. I will prepare a character and send it you, initially I was thinking in an action char like Arbitrator, but I would like to play either as a cleric or as an adept.
Both of them need to develop other skills and I want to understand "knowledge is power".
Cheers
OK Likantron, I'm looking forward to seeing what you have. A great idea for a cleric character would be something resembling a Guard chaplain from one of the Oremor Penal Legions. Adepts are also a good choice. As those already in the campaign are aware, combat isn't everything, and with a plot as dense and convoluted as this one, someone who can unravel the intellectual challenges is just as important as the bruiser with the bolter.
The trick for me right now is to not reveal too much about the next act while vetting characters that will fit in nicely.

Hi there all. I am also interested in joining. I am real life friends of both Lorm and Balfic. I will shoot you an email with my character concept when I get it done. That is if I am also welcome. ;-)
You are more than welcome, Catman. Seeing that this will push our player base up to seven though, I will be cutting off recruitment again provided you, Ellipsis, and Likantron all decide to enter the campaign. I want to give everyone ample opportunity to feel as though their character is an important part of the events unfolding, and I think anything more than that will become unwieldy. With the party diverging already on a couple of occasions to complete tasks simultaneously, it can sometimes be challenging to give everyone the proper "screen-time" so to speak, and I would like to keep things engaging and interesting for all.
As with Likantron and Ellipsis, please post your character concepts below.

Catman |
Great thanks.
Here is my concept; A tech priest from a forge world with the background of The Divine Light of Sollex and working towards the Mechanicus Secutor. Personality wise is the small kid having the chance to get back at all of the bullies. Because of the constant state of alertness he has had to keep up planing on taking light sleeper and rapid reload as some of the remaining 900xp. To past the time even when he was little he carved stuff to keep his mind off of his troubles and the hierarchy used those skills to Scrimshaw prayers onto weapons.
This is all I can think of right now maybe you have some other ideas to help flesh him out.

Ellipsis, the character looks good. I will convert it to one of the .pdf sheets sometime tomorrow and forward you a copy along with some ideas for transitioning Vincent into the game.
Catman and Likantron, I'm looking forward to looking over your characters as well, please don't feel rushed, there is still plenty of time before a logical insertion point for them into the campaign arrives.

Hi,
this is the concept that I want to work with, suggestions are very welcomed. I still have to get into this forum and by the way can you recommend me any dice rolling site? Cheers from Madrid.Deir Licaon was born in the death world of Zel Secundus (Calixis Sector). He entered the ecclesiarchy as a young novice where he devoted his soul to spread the words of the holy Emperor through the planet. Zebulon the preacher was a source of inspiration for Deir Licaon.
On a routine pilgrimage to the villages in the wastes the pilgrims encountered a rotten village with mutation and heresy. Zebulon, the Preacher of the planet confronted the mutants and Licaon watched how he was skin alive.
Licaon escaped during the night, while the mutants were feasting with the corpse of the Preacher. After that day, he seeks revenge over all sorts of mutant signs that he encounters, this has driven him to go deep into forbidden knowledge of heresy and mutants. As a means to spread the light of the Emperor Licaon has a duty to erase all signs from mutants and heretics. Licaon embarked into a ship and left Zel Secundus since some local authorities from the ministorium were investigating his access into the forbidden lore.
Licaon will do anything to cleanse heretics.

Ellipsis wrote:Just wanted to make sure.Hi,
I have created the profile of "Deir Licaon". Can anyone tell me how can I choose him to post instead of "Likantron"?
Thanks
You see that menu beneath the area you write posts in with "Post As" written by it? It's that. (Right above the menu of BBCode you can use if you still have trouble.)

Kaltos Havelock |

Ok took me a while but I finally got Kaltos input. Lol the longest time was figuring out a name and the actual input into Paizo. Thanks Lorm for the help with the name and Balfic for the use of his books and knowledge of the system. Rook, I will also email a copy to you with some back story and questions.

OK everyone, just to update, I have received the sheets and will be transferring them over to the form-field .pdf sheet over the next couple of days after I check them over. I'll email each of you a copy when I'm done and create a temporary page on the wiki to host them. I will then begin working on backgrounds to integrate the new characters into the game. I'd like to leave this thread active so that I can brainstorm a little bit with you on the best way to transition the new PC's into the storyline.
