I am running a V20 campaign and I had a player drop out as a result I have one opening.
I am using the new V20 rules - if you don't have them and only have an old rules set it is not an issue for me - I can update you on any differences. All characters are currently human and the game is still in the prologue stage though we will soon enter full game play. As the game progresses the characters will become embraced. Players may either choose their Clan or have me choose it for them.
The following clans may be chosen if you do not wish me to choose for you:
- Brujah
- Giovanni
- Lasombra, and
- Nosferatu.
The discussion thread explains some of the differences between my world of darkness and canon. Differences will become clear as gameplay continues.
The backdrop is Venice in the Year of Our Lord 1309. The city is feeling the strife between the Pope and the Doge with Nobles picking sides for or against the Doge's current defiance of the Holy See.
I don't need stats at the moment just a simple one paragraph background and a concept.
I will keep Recruitment open until this Friday afternoon August 17 at 3 pm. I will make my decision the next day based on the concept I feel fits best with the current party.
The current party:
Andrew the Hardy - Scottish Nobleman and envoy from Robert the Bruce to the Doge,
Gunther Thesing - Hungarian immigrant and owner of "Greetings" Tavern and Inn,
Dr. Lorenzo Cappelli - Native Venetian and retired physician. Son of a wealthy merchant of Venice,
Michael Santo - Immigrant to Venice and owner of a small Gondola business,
Michele Querini - Native Venetian, Nobleman and member of the Great Council, and
Xing Shi - Asian assassin from the far east.

Hi Hassan -
Hmmm. No I suppose Ventrue are not completely off the table, I would consider allowing one depending on the concept and background presented.
No Antitribu, we are pre-anarch revolt Dark Ages.
Brujah (Celerity, Potence and Presence) and Lasombra (Dominate, Obtenebration, and Potence) Disciplines are the same for V20 as they were in past releases. Some of the rolls may be a bit different I would need to double check the systems on them.

Hassan Ahmed |

To help with concept, are we to be the good guys as it were, or are we the bad guys? Are we evil-light? LOL? So that we'd be pitted against world ending EVIL?
I typically play the un-cola, maybe a weakness for humanity, desire for justice while working within the guidelines of the system. Good soul struggling to survive the transformation, possibly seeking salvation.
That said, to survive you gotta take care of the day to day business and not forget the reality of your situation.
Middle Eastern, slightly olive tone... Pass for Italian at a glance.Son of a rich spice merchant, maybe. Parents have a villa outside Venice. Zorro?!

Storyteller Shadow |

I don;t want to reveal too much of where the campaign is headed as any hint will totally give it away.
I am not a fan of the term "sand box" but this is a campaign where you can decide how you want to play it. If you want to be a seeker of Golconda the minute you are embraced go for it. If you want to be an inhuman monster racing to get to zero humanity go for it!
I certainly want to explore the story of humans becoming monsters and doing what they must to survive which is the way the game was "originally intended" but I won't force anyone to go in that direction.
Let's look at the concept you have posted above: "Middle Eastern, slightly olive tone... Pass for Italian at a glance.Son of a rich spice merchant, maybe. Parents have a villa outside Venice. Zorro?!"
Sounds like a good start.
Would you be in Venice running the family business?
Is your family here?
Do you have a family of your own?
With the Zorro concept are you thinking man of the people fighting against the corruption of the Doge and Nobles like him?
This type of concept would lend itself nicely to the theme of the beast I am lest the beast I become. You drink the blood of the guilty to protect the innocent, unless of course you lose control.
It would be an interesting revelation for the character to realize that lurking behind corrupt humanity are immortal beings whose corruption spans the ages.
Obviously there is no right answer but I want to flesh it out a little more.

Hassan Ahmed |

Yes, fight corruption, abuse, etc... Social consciousness.
He's th big man on campus, family, trusted. There's probably a business manager, dealing with the actual day to day concerns. Escalating to my character. My guy might be business development, acquiring customers, etc...
Parents mostly absent, but have scheduled or unscheduled site visits. No own family yet, maybe fiancee dies as part of a tragic accident leading to the embrace. He ends up a reluctant bachelor. Not a playboy.
Golconda yes. Once he knows what it is. For now, he is the lesser evil
.. steeped with new found power, he feels a responsibility.
Sorry. Posting from phone.

Storyteller Shadow |

I'm Egyptian. Maybe from Cairo and Alexandria. So maybe antiques, antiquities, books, freight/cargo services, spice.
He who controls the spice, controls the universe!
LOL, I have a D&D PC who bases most of his concepts on Dune :-)
This is a solid submission Hassan. I stated that I would keep Recruitment open until Friday so I won't make a final decision yet. Though based on interest level thus far it is looking good for "Zorro".

Monkeygod |

I was going to reapply, as things got too crazy for me to write up a background last time, but Hassan seems pretty in to this game, so I'll back off.
Also wanted to say sorry that I never got a finished character Shadow. Between RL stuff and lacking a real feel of the setting/time period, I just couldn't get going.

My V20 campaign has an opening for a 7th player.
The campaign is set in Venice in the Year of Our Lord 1309. The city is feeling the strife between the Pope and the Doge with Nobles picking sides for or against the Doge's current defiance of the Holy See.
I don't need stats at the moment just a simple one paragraph background and a concept.
I will keep Recruitment open until next Friday afternoon August 22 at 3 pm. I will make my decision the next day based on the concept I feel fits best with the current party.
The current party:
Andrew the Hardy - Scottish Nobleman and envoy from Robert the Bruce to the Doge,
Dr. Lorenzo Cappelli - Native Venetian and retired physician. Son of a wealthy merchant of Venice,
Michael Santo - Immigrant to Venice and owner of a small Gondola business,
Michele Querini - Native Venetian, Nobleman and member of the Great Council, and
Xing Shi - Asian assassin from the far east, and
Alessandro Khadaji - Son of a Muslim shipping magnate who makes his home in the City of Venice overseeing his father's interests.
Note that at this time, all characters are still human and any new player will start as a human as well.

Here is what i would be aiming at
Jeremy doesn’t remember much about his past or who he was
His first starting memory was running out of a room of an underground chamber in an Eastern Europe country. He was fleeing from Ismael, a Tremere vampire. Outside of the castle he was meet with Cedric his faithful ghoul retainer. And together they have been fleeing the last 5 years from Ismael. Jeremy joined the last crusade in order to change radically and to throw off Ismael (change of identity, face etc) That was to save Acre after the fall of 1289. Having succeeded, as the crusader failed to save Acre from falling thus ending the last Latin state in the holy lands he came back in europe with the end of the crusade in where he chose to settle in England. There he spend the next 5 years building his wealth in the jewel and precious stones business. Now his is onc again on the move as he thinks he remembers that there is something waiting for him in Venice. Something that would connect to the past

Looks good. I can make it work with storylines I have dealt with in the game related to the Obertus. Thanks for the submission.

Storyteller Shadow |

Due to the fact that only one submission has been received, I will be closing the Recruitment thread.
Congratulations Algar, you are now the 7th active player in the game thread with your submission. I will review your most recent PM related to the character and get back to you in the next few days with any suggestions or tweaks I would like to see.
Please create a profile utilizing the same format as the other players currently playing in the game.

If you have space for one more let me know I'd be interested in applying with a very pretty 18 year old girl whose father arranged her marriage to a widower in a wealthy banking family. Open to any clan except Nosferatu. She likes to play innocent but the whole thing has been orchestrated by her. Ambitious for a better life of wealth and access to power and she is willing to be as ruthless or angelic as she needs to be to get there.
And o/ Alagar, Shadow and Monkeygod

Storyteller Shadow |

Bloodlines currently has a large number of players. However, I prefer an odd over an even number of players.
If anyone is interested in playing what I believe is the only Vampire thread currently active on these boards, please submit a concept.
Please note that you will begin play as a Mortal and that I will be selecting your Clan for the Embrace.

Storyteller Shadow |

Posting the concept here is fine.
Current PC's
Michele - Noble son and member of the Grand Council in the city. Think trust fund baby. Still Mortal. Intended Clan Followers of Set.
Michael - Immigrant and proprietor of gondola company. Still Mortal.
Bassanio - Florentine bankers son looking to open a branch in Venice. Still Mortal.
Baldemar - Teutonic Knight stationed in Venice. Still Mortal.
Andrew - Diplomat from Scotland seeking Venetian assistance against England. Clan Salubri - Warrior Caste.
Alessandro - Son of Muslim trader who runs family shipping operations in Venice. Still Mortal - Intended Clan Ventrue.
Xing - Immigrant asian assassin. Clan Lasombra (Unique Lasombra Bloodline)
Vitaliano - Immigrant underworld doctor. Still Mortal - Intended Clan Malkavian.
Lorenzo - Venetian resident former legitimate doctor turned doctor Frankenstein. Clan Cappadocian.
Finn - Immigrant Revenant of the Tzimisce clan seeking to reclaim lost memories. Still Mortal.

Monkeygod |

Thinking of a member of a powerful merchant family, who have dealings in a variety of businesses and ties to the Church. He would basically be laying the foundation for Cosa Nostra much earlier.
Still want to go with my original clan and concept, which I will PM you about.
I think my problem the first time around was trying to create too much of a special, unique character both before embrace and after. I think this idea will work much easier and hopefully still become what I want once turned.

I'm thinking something of an outlander new that fled to the area after some unpleasant business that forced him to flee from home, (France?). Something along the lines of being hired/commanded by his lord to do something, not realizing the true depth of his actions, and when he returned home afterwards, found his family had been killed/enslaved/other, and his lord had essentially pinned the whole thing on him and branded him an outlaw. Not being a trained ruffian or scoundrel, and not having much stomach for it, he has had to learn through trial and error how to survive these last few weeks on the run, and
If I could get a bit more details on the time and setting, I can add a bit more details.
I'm thinking of maybe going along the lines of an early Anarch, something like an unsung hero founder. Being a commoner and not terribly educated, I'm thinking of trying to evolve the character towards being an educated philosopher with a passion, (but probably no real outlet for it depending on the year the game plays). But he needs to survive first, and learn to cope with this new curse, first.
Probably Road of Humanity, but possibly Heaven. Unsure. Not being learned, he did go to church, but didn't really understand much of it.
All in all, here are a few suggestions (suggestions only, do what you want) based more off of what I have planned for the character. But I can also see possibilities with any Clan.
I'd prefer not to be a Lasombra if I go with the earlier anarch idea, and possibly not a Brujah either, as I don't want the character to become a hero or renown martyr for the Anarch Movement later. Brujah I think can work better then Lasombra for this. A few suggestions, but by all means
Gangrel makes a bit of sense, but otherwise, Clan isn't too important. I don't really see Tremere wanting to pick this guy. Ventrue, Setities, Assamites, Tzimisce, or Toreador do not seem too likely either, but it's possible. Noseferatu might as an unwitting spy. Ravnos might as a distraction to get out of dodge. I can see a Salubri being interested. Similarly a Cappadocian, and both could help explain how he goes from being a laborer to a scholar, (kind of similar to Braveheart).

Hey, SS. I play Analin in the WoT game. Here's my concept: a callow young nobleman from a rich family that recently bought its way into the nobility, quick to anger and full of himself, who cares nothing for his father's business or the city's politics.
He's the 4th of 5 sons, the 7th child of 8. His eldest brother is heir apparent and fully engaged in the family business, his second eldest brother is a veteran of the war with the Genoese and a rising star in Venice's political arena, and his brother closest in age is a priest in St. Mark's.
His father is a rich merchant who claimed to be friends with the great Kublai Khan and made his fortune on trade with the far east. With the death of the great khan and the disintegration of the Mongol empire, there is an impending fall for the family's fortunes, though they don't know that yet.
When rumors of the Serrata started swirling a decade and a half ago, his father spent money like a madman to get his his family invested with a title to insure they were not locked out of the possibility of political influence. As a result of this huge outlay of money, he was awarded the title of Conte and a position on the Great Council, but he quickly realized he was not inclined to politics the way he was to business and delegates most of his political responsibilities to his second son.
The PC is going to be inspired by Romeo and Mercutio (more the latter than the former)- an idle young nobleman who goes around the city falling in love and getting into fights. They seem like perfect Brujah candidates.
For a name, how about Giovanni Soranzo.

OK, final player concepts:
1. DM Beckett - Outlander, recently arrived in Venice, works for Gunther at Greetings Inn. Clan - Clan Preference Cappadocian, but Nosferatu a possibility.
2. Karlprosek - New money merchant of Venice seeking fine food, fine wine, and fine women, not necessarily in that order. No Clan preference.
3. MonkeyGod - A pseudo hedge mage dabbling in the occult pertaining to shadow lore. Likely has been in the city for some time but not a resident. Clan - Bloodline preference mixed with Lasombra.
Unfortunately due to the game as it currently is playing out, I cannot announce which Clans are available and which are not as only 3 of the 10 current players have been embraced.

Description: Yanos is a bit taller than normal, and built like one would expect from someone that has worked their whole life. Recently he has begun to grow a bear and his hair long, (helping to hide his face a bit). He has dark brown hair, but pale skin compared to the local population, and speaks with an accent that clearly marks him as Eastern European. He is in his early thirty's, but already has greying hair from a hard life. Otherwise there is not too much remarkable about him. He is attractive, but not at all gorgeous, and the rags he wears does not help.
History: Born in far off Romania, "Yanos" worked the land his entire life, both farming and hunting to supplement what food he could for a small family. He never owned the land he worked, and the majority of his fruits went to the local lord. While he never the opportunity to study, or even travel, he was good with his hands.
He fled, grabbing what little he had and could carry safely and ran. He has only arrived in Venice about a month ago, and has had a hard time at it. He manages to find work at the Greetings Inn, where he now lives in one of the back rooms, doing odd jobs around the Inn, and even making a few friends and contacts amongst the staff. Both Jodi and Lindsay feel they can trust him, and though they know he has a secret of his own, they get the feeling it's a sad one, and secretly look out for him, from whatever it is he is running from.
Likewise, Gunther, the Inn's owner respects his work ethic, and is willing to help where he can. It isn't many who would put up with such a job just for room and board, and the tiny wages Yanos lives off of.
