Ryster Demarkarios

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Ryster wakes to a commotion. He stands and grabs his musket, looking for the source of the disturbance.
Zoltan Ceausescu

@DM: I'm pretty sure Zoltan goes after the cat, given my PC's spectacular 4 initiative. If I'm wrong on this let me know, otherwise I'll wait for you to post for the cat's attack before posting Zoltan's action
Brother Felinros

Wouldn't Felinros and Arjunta get Attacks of Opportunity if the creature ran by them (AoO) to do a coup de grace (AoO), especially for Arjunta who has a reach weapon ready?
Mathias Kelythis
|
My only defense to this is that you declared this was a surprise round; surprise rounds can only allow a standard action so a coup de grace is not possible. Kitty can of course take a free shot at Mathias (assuming Kitty was over the wizard), just not a potential instant death attack.
I also imagine that Arjunta would move over the wizard if he saw a cat hovering over him, given his desire to be in a defensive stance and being on guard duty and all.
If this is instead the first round of full combat (ie, Kitty moved and Arjunta was able to get a weapon, Felinros cast a spell in the surprise round), then depending on Arjunta/Felinros' positions they'd get the AoO since they had acted.
However, if those assumptions are false, then I'll try to roll a Nat 19 or 20 to not keel over to a giant furball :P
Brother Felinros
|
Also, Kitty cat couldn't move and Coup de Grace in a normal round as it is a full-round action.
I'm assuming that the cat wasn't already standing over the wizard, in which case Felinros and Arjunta would surely have reacted differently then setting the spear and casting a defensive spell...
I'm assuming the Coupe de Grace wasn't in the surprise round, so since Arjunta and Felinros are not flat-footed they would get AoO's.
AoO Rapier: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Seeing the cat attempting to charge at prone party members, Zoltan flies into a spittle-spewing rage. Yelling incoherently, the gladiator leaps at the cat, attempting to wrestle it to the ground.
Free Action rage, then attempt to grapple
Grapple 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
DaWay

Felinros plants a rapier firmly in the creatures side that doesn't break stride but is quickly brought down by a raging Zoltan. The cat attempts to deliver a devistating rake across the barbarian will bite down on his neck
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 1d6 ⇒ 6
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 1d4 ⇒ 4
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 1d4 ⇒ 4
Zoltan Ceausescu

TRY TO BITE ME, YOU STUPID CAT??! LET'S SEE HOW MANY LIVES YOU REALLY HAVE!! Zoltan screams at the animal as he attempts to plant it firmly in the ground.
Grapple attempt to pin the cat
Grapple/Pin Attempt 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32
Zoltan Ceausescu
|
@DaWay: The Krenshar should be pinned now. Zoltan completed the initial grapple a few posts back, then was pinned in the post just above your last one.
Brother Felinros
|
Following up on his martial succses thus far, Brother Felinros takes a swig of whiskey as a move action then pokes at the big cat with his rapier. "By my whiskey! The great strength of the lucky drunk is surely with you today Zoltan!"
Rapier: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Getting the drinking, blessing and stabbing all mixed up - the priest concentrates on what he knows best... drinking.
Hah! Beat that for the lowest attack roll of the module! A 3 total on a naturaly one!
Ryster Demarkarios

Ryster chooses th save ammunition and moves toward the cat and Zoltan, attacking with his flail.
Flail Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

You are correct Zoltan, the creature is pinned. My group has been misplaying the rules for grapple all along. I thought you had to check to maintain and then check to do a maneuver but only one check is required to maintain and perform a maneuver.
Ryster steps up and hits the Krenshar with his flail. While Vanyeal hits it with a magic missile (11 damage)
The Krenshar again attempts to attack Zoltan
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 1d6 ⇒ 6
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 1d4 ⇒ 1
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 1d4 ⇒ 3

@DaWay: I'm pretty sure a creature cannot just attack when pinned. It could try to break the grapple, current CMD to do so would be 21, but options are limited when you're pinned
Mathias Kelythis
|
Mathias, bloodied from the surprise attack on him, crawls on the ground to the barbarian and coughs up a quick arcane verse, enhancing Zoltan's strength with the wizard's touch.
Zoltan gets a +2 enhancement bonus to Strength for 1 round

Ha Ha!Zoltan shouted triumphantly as the beast wriggled futility in his grasp. The fevered rage still shone on the gladiator's face but was additionally twinged with a slightly sadistic look. Sitting on the creature's back, Zoltan planted his feat in the ground underneath the cat's shoulders and grabbed underneath its jaws with vice-like hands. He then proceeded to tear upwards in an attempt break the beast's back.
Time for the Camel Clutch!
Grapple Check for Damage 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21

Zoltan puts the cat in a grip and fishes his hand into the felines jaw pulling upwards until he hears a crack and then feels the body go limp beneath his giant frame.
END OF COMBAT
As the creature dies, the centaur you meet earlier, Urdel Thunderhoof busts forth from the forest. Thank You, you have accomplished a great deed here today. Would you be willing to trade for the corpse. I have these fur pelts I'd be willing to give you.
Brother Felinros
|
"That would be well enough, I think as long as none of my companions have objections. Zoltan, you did the hard work so I would guess the prize of the corpse is yours to trade if you wish."
Seeing that some of his friends are wounded, Felinros brandishes his holy symbol and the familiar wave of alcoholic warmth fills you and tends your wounds.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Anyone still wounded?
Zoltan Ceausescu
|
Zoltan lets the cat's broken body go limp as the excess vigor drains out a bit. The gladiator looks happy but tired as he wobbles to his feet. Whoo-woo! That was a good one, eh? The sweat streams from his face as he speaks between pants for breath. Sure, yeah, we can trade for the pelts. The cat's pretty busted up, it's yours if you want it. He then proceeds to fill the tankard in his pack with a pull of whiskey and take a chug. To victory! Anybody else wanna shot?
Release Rage as Free Action, fatigued for three rounds
Mathias Kelythis
|
"No, please take that thing away!", exclaims Mathias, a bit embarrassed that his life was so nearly taken away from a roaming monster. The wizard is quiet for a few moments before taking a wand out and placing it on his neck; the wounds almost glow red as flesh repairs itself. Finally the wizard turns to the barbarian and bows to him. "Thank you for preventing my untimely demise. I am in your debt." The proud Mathias feels a pit in his stomach saying such, but he cannot deny that it was the Zoltan's strength that ensured he would not be seeing the Boneyard tonight.
Zoltan Ceausescu
|
Zoltan's eyes go wide and he nearly spews out his liquor at Mathias' gesture. Ah, hells, Fancy Pants there's no need for that! The gladiator quickly pours a healthy shot of whiskey and hands it to the wizard. Here, just drink that and we'll call it even!
Mathias Kelythis
|
Taking the glass, Mathias drinks it down in a single gulp and returns the now empty vessel to Zoltan. "Your simplicity is both your greatest fault and strength... but that does take some of the sting out from my throbbing neck."

Survival Check to make cold weather outfit out of furs 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Brrrr! It's cold out here! Zoltan took the furs and quickly worked them into a thick wrapping. Good thing my da showed me that little trick. That and another shot of the juice should take care of it. After another slug of whiskey, Zoltan catches sight of the wagon. Hey Padre, you wanna talk to them? I'll do it but you got the gift of gab I don't.
Brother Felinros
|
The priest shouts a greeting to the wagon as the group approaches. "Hail travellers, we seek news of the road ahead and perhaps to share a fire on a cold night. Anyone there?[/b]
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Brother Felinros

Sitting down, pulling off a boot and massaging a foot, the priest says, "I think this is as good a place as any... lets get a fire going and keep to the normal watches, sound good?"
Zoltan Ceausescu
|
Zoltan sets out his small whiskey keg in an open invitation for others to participate. Sure warms the bones on a cold night! Otherwise he sticks to the watch he had previously with Matthias.
