"Enough!" shouts the normally jovial priest with an authority and anger you have never heard from him. He holds forth his holy symbol not in a toast, but with a force and reverence indicating the most dire of circumstances. Rolling from him you sense an energy, violent but ethereal, pass by you leaving you unharmed. The energy felt like the burn of too-strong liquor that is too strong to swallow and would leave you wretching and poisoned, but it rolls past you without tangible effect.

Zoltan responded with surprise as combat erupted, as the gladiator had dismissed the woman and was focused on the overhead ledge. Hey! Why is everyone hitting the healing lady?? He stumbled back a bit as the fray surrounded him, but seeing the creature attempting to claw and bite his companion he reacted instinctively. Grabbing his large oaken club from over his shoulder, he brought the weapon crashing down on Maurit's head.

"That's a foreboding start to our mission.", Mathias ponders out loud. Now turning to the injured Shoanti, the Chelish wizard pulls out a slender black wand and taps him. "This should take some of the sting out from your injuries.
Arjunta, tapped you with a wand of infernal healing, so assuming we wait the full minute, that will be 10 HP healed.

"The Brother seemed to recognize it as some sort of undead, and it was damaged by my minor positive energy spell. Felinros?" I must remember what this thing looked like, in case we encounter more of them. Filthy creatures.

Brother Felinros nods grimly. "The walking corpse was a Ghoul. They are known to paralyze a living person with a touch of their claws, and they carry disease with them as well. You were fortunate not to be helpless within its claws, but we must get you to a more powerful healer than I after we finish here to check your wounds for infection."
The creature talked to us as if still alive... the hunger hadn't consumed its old mind entirely yet. Pondering for a moment the Brother continues.
"The fact that it conversed with us indicates it was newly raised to its wretched undead form... I suppose we did get some information from it, but should we encounter such again I suggest we give it the final death as soon as possible to avoid paralysis and corruption. Either way, it appears that the way to the door is open now. Shall we venture forth?"

Zoltan frowned at the body of the ghoul on the ground, but his eyes darted back up at Brother Felinros as he spoke his piece. Hey, whoa, hold on their padre, just because some old hag goes hog wild and flies off the handle don't mean we need to bring the whole "walking dead" thing back up. I mean, that's just crazy talk! The gladiator shakes his head and then adds, but, yeah, let's get movin'. Unwinding his rope and grappling hook from his pack, Zoltan attempts to get a firm grip on the ledge and climb up. Vanyel takes a long look at Arjunta's wounds, then back at Zoltan. "I have never been to Varisia. Is it common there for old ladies to be capable of inflicting damage such as that with nails and teeth? The Varisians I have met here in Absalom have generally looked normal, but one never knows."

Attached to the north wall at this corridor junction is the relief carving of a giant face. The relief is that of a Qadiran man with a billowing beard. His eyes are closed, and his lips are parted, as if he were blowing out a flame. His lips frame a deep hole in the wall. The paint once adorning the relief is chipped and faded, but traces of its brilliant blues and pristine whites are still visible here and there. On the man’s forehead is a single Kelish word, carved in a flowing script.

Heading left (West): This large room is dank, and a strange draft flows through it carrying with it a foul odor. Rubble is strewn here and there. A strange, slimy slick glistens down the western wall. Near the slick is a wooden door. The only sound in this room is a faint drip echoing from deeper in the dungeon.
