Round 6
Idril flings another stone at the demon using one of her beautiful scarves. The stone flies just a little too low, and arcs up dramatically being falling back down, just under the monster's clawed feet.

Arthur tucks his wand back into his pack, and then readies his club again, waiting to make sure there are no more traps or ambushes waiting for them.

Round 7
Thalrik, you are up, good sir

Thalrik Korun |

"Grab one of those polearms we picked up earlier and make yourself useful Arthur." Thalrik said, repeating the same spell from his scroll, Arthurs frame expanding.
5 foot step to Arthur, cast Enlarge Person. Those Ranseurs we pick up earlier are Reach Weapons right?

DajellyMan |

Ahhh, now we're thinking ;p YES, the ranseurs you all found have reach. Almost as if it was aaaaaallll planned or something.
Round 7
Thalrik does some fancy hand motions and says some magic words and BAM! now Arthur is enlarged as well.
______________________________________________________
The creature gives a sharp hiss, looking back at forth between Fraadok and Arthur. Seeing she very well may soon be surrounded, she gathers her power into herself, preparing to release some of her inherent demon magics up on all y'alls. The air about her seems to grow slightly darker, as if in shadow, and her eyes start to glow pure white. Then, with a dramatic motioning of her arms, a wave of fearsome energy spreads out in all directions!
After her spell goes off, she will fly over to above the alter, provoking attacks from Arthur and Fraadok.
Erylium Fly Check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Using spell-like ability, cause fear. DC 12 Will save to resist. Anyone failing the save becomes frightened for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds. Successful save only makes you shaken for 1 round.

Thalrik Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Idril Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Everyone is able to resist the effects of the spell... everyone except poor, brave, Arthur. Taken over by the spells aura, Arthur becomes terribly frightened and starts to panic! (Arthur, frightened for 4 rounds!)
Everyone else is shaken until the next round.

Alright, Idril, Arthur, and Fraadok are up, and large and in charge and carrying long sticks. wahoo! Have at it guys!

Fraadok |

Round 7
Trying to keep creature in his reach and seeing Arthur begin to go, Fraadok senses that this battle has begun to turn in their favor.
He stabs at the quasit as it moves back, not quite realizing that a true tactician would hold their attack for then the spell caster started casting.
AoO Enlarged Longspear: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 11
Damage Enlarged Longspear: 2d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 16
But once again the battle shifts back to the quasit, as it sends a wave of terror through the parties ranks.
Shaking off the fear as best he can, Fraadok still has some lingering doubts about their chances, but he strikes again at the creature.
Enlarged Longspear: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 - 2 = 5
Damage Enlarged Longspear: 2d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 10
GAH!!! Either I get high rolls to hit with low damage, or low rolls to hit with high damage.
Arthur, use the magic Ranseur, that will knock the penalty to a -3. Can't make any worse attacks then what I am rolling. And an Aid is only AC 10, if nothing else.

Idril finds another loose rock, winds it up and lets fly again.

Round 7
Shaking off the spell, Idril snarls and slings another stone sailing across the room, whizzing through the air and cracking the demon straight on the noggin, dealing 6 (1) damage.

Arthur is unable to resist the fearful presence gripping his brain, and flies into a panic. He gazes fearfully upon the demon and lets out a gasp before turning towards the stone doors. He rushes over and attempts to open them, but the doors seem to be locked! He bangs recklessly against the doors, hoping to burst them open.
Arthur, Strength Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
But he only succeeds in causing a huge about of noise pounding against the doors.

Fraadok lunges powerfully as the creature flies away, but he is unable to make any contact. Thalrik takes a step out of the way, allowing Fraadok to move into position. He then follows after the creature, and when she pauses he attempts to strike her again, but she still proves too quick and nimble dodges the spear.

End of round 7, top of round 8! Thalrik, you are up.

Idril Ssethan |

Round 8__________
More than frustrated that her slung stones just bounced off of the little demon, Idril throws her hands up. She sees Arthur still in the grips of the Panic and moves over next to him. To (W,23)

Throwing his arms up, Thalrik looked at his companions with an annoyed scowl. "I have nothing left to contribute with! None of my remaining magic will affect her!"
Short of throwing Rikka in her face im fresh out of options im afraid. Full defending until I can be useful somehow.

Thalrik Korun |

Both of which id rather put in my book...and they are kinda meh vs hellspawn.
If she would be good enough to come down here though, ive got a wand with her name on it.

DajellyMan |

Fair enough, Thalrik ;p
Ok, so Fraadok, you will wait to use your reaction and see if she tries to cast a spell.
Round 8
Thalrik flails his arms up in the arm, seemingly unnerved. He explains his wizard mojo has run out for the day, and god help him, he has no idea what to do with himself.

The quasit eyes Fraadok maliciously and points a bony figure at him.
"I recognize your symbols, servant of Pharasma. HAHAHA you shall soon join your goddess in the eternal bliss of her domain, but she has no power here! This is a chapel of Lamashtu, and only her and her servants will ever find power here!"
A dark aura begins to glow around her tiny outstretched hand...

Fraadok AoO: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7 Damage: 2d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 5 + 1 = 9
Fraadok stabs once again at the tiny demon as she prepares her spell, but once again, he is able to land a blow. He chalks it up to his self doubt, and he resolves to shrug this off and get done what needs to be done. No one insults Pharasma!
Suddenly, a sinister ray shoots forth from her tiny finger, straight towards Fraadok!
Ray Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Strength Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The ray strikes Fraadok right in the chest. His body glows in a sinister black aura for a moment, and then sizzles out. He feels his strength get sapped right out of his as the blast courses through.
Fraadok Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Fraadok, you take 2 Strength damage for 3 rounds.

Standing by the door, neither Arthur nor Idril hear anything from the other side. Hmm. Interesting.
Idril, hoping to snap Arthur out of his terror, snaps one of her scarves menacingly in front of his face.
The attack misses, but since you got a 20 on the check, I'll give Arthur another Will save.
Arthur Will Save DC 12: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Still in the trow of the confusing emotion running rampant within arthur's mind he will seize the moment to move again near the flying deamon and attack it.

this is really not my type of weapon swinging wildly. He focus and tries to get a feel for it.

Idril Ssethan |

Seeing Arthur snap out of it, Idril leaves off kicking Arthur in his treetrunk like ankles and cheers. Then a though strikes her.
"Hey! If one of you big guys can't hit her, one of you lift me up!"
She unlimbers her recently enchanted bladed scarf, just in case she gets a chance to snap it out to it's full length.

DajellyMan |

Her weapon may not have reach, but if one of you lifted her up next to the baddy, she could totally hit it.
Round 8
Arthur shrugs off his irrational fear and pulls out one of the ranseurs harvested from the vile sinspawn. He then hurries back over to towards the demon and lunges with the weapon. Unfortunately, he was speaking the truth when he said he did not really know how to use one. He swings wild and completely misses.

Round 9
Suddenly, there is a loud bang and the stone doors that were previously locked tight burst inwards! Three glowing arrows fire through the doors as soon as they open, speeding across the room and straight at the quasit demon!

One of the arrows sails wide and clinks against the wall, but the other two arrows strike true, dealing 13 (8) damage! The creature screeches in pain and fear of the fact that it is truly in danger of dying now.
Getting a good look at this stranger, you recognize two familiar faces. Shalelu, the elven ranger Sheriff Hemlock introduced you to after the goblin raids, accompanied by none other than Dexter Quickiwit! True to his word, he found help and came back to help! He waves a cheerful hello to everyone.
"Gentlemen! I have posted guards outside to make sure no one tries to come down here. I ran into Shalelu here outside, wondering what the commotion was. It took us a while to find you, until we heard the banging on this door here and realized something was wrong. Ah, but don't you worry we are here and will help avenge the deaths of Darlin and Ferdin! Huzzah!"
Dexter inspires courage, giving everyone a +1 to attack and damage!

Shalelu Andosana_ |

Round 10

Arrow 1: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 1 = 22 Damage 1: 2d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6, 4) + 1 + 1 = 12

Arrow 3: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21 Damage 3: 2d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 1 + 1 = 8
All three arrows lodge themselves into the demon's chest, dealing her a whopping 23 damage! The creature spits blood and starts falling to the ground, straining to keep herself in the air.
"Foul creature, may the unerring string of Calistra drive you back into the depths of hell from whence you came. You shall trouble this town no more!"

DajellyMan |

The creature let's out a shrill scream laced with the fear and emotion that can only come from a scream one has as they are about to die. The quasit drops the the top of the alter, bleeding heavily and coughing more blood.
".... You.... you are all FOOLS! I am a favored child of Lamashtu. My death is only a temporary setback... You may have killed me, but you can do nothing to stop what has already been set in motion! *cough cough cough*
The tiny demon then collapses, completely dead!
Alright! Everybody go ahead and go to level 3!

Fraadok |

Fraadok, while glad that the quasit is dead, reaches down to pull out an arrow or two from the body, curious to see what killed the creature so quickly.
"Back to the Abyss with you demon, my Mistress has already judged you once, you will not have a second judgment."
With that he stabs and twists his longspear through the creature.

Ending her monologue, she lets out another ear-piercing screech as she produces a dagger from within her gown. Slashing her own wrist, she lets her blood fall into the bubbling waters below. As soon as the blood hits the pool there is a bright flash and a large rubbling. The water appears to almost boil, and then, with a huge splash, a Sinspawn jumps out of the pool! After this, the water's glow diminishes noticeably.
Fraadok still dripping the quasit's blood, walks back to greet their rescuers, stepping over the pool in the room.

Taking a fair amount of time (let's say about 20 minutes), Fraadok paces around the pool. He knows that the well is an object of immense power, and immense evil. He does not know what exactly it does, or how it is activated, but it is clear that the well's power fades with each use, and judging by the quasit's reaction, it is probably pretty low on power. He can also tell that making contact with the water would probably hurt. Probably shouldn't touch the water.
With that in mind, he uses the end of his spear to pull out the knife from the water, handing it to Thalrik for further inspection. Studying the blade for a long while, Thalrik deduces that it is a +1 returning silver dagger. Sweet!
Unfortunately, this well is an ancient evil thing, apparently a relic from Ancient Thassilon. If only one of you had a book or something about Ancient Thassilonian stuff!

Thalrik Korun |

Breathing a sigh of relief, Thalrik paced quickly across the room to greet their rescuers. "Good thing you showed up. We weren't exactly in any real danger of falling at this creatures hands, but it might well have taken us all day to kill her with what was at our disposal."
Noting Fraadok poking around the pool, he moved to do the same "Hmmm, this IS interesting isn't it?"
And a freshly increased Knowledge(History) immediately proves useful!
Knowledge(Arcana): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Knowledge(History): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
However his curiosity soon left him, the half-elf taking a few startled steps back, frowning more than usual "It is a foul thing! I came across it in Quinks journal. According to his studies, we are looking at a Runewell, thought luckily this one appears to be only of minor power." He knelt down and put his backpack on the ground, retrieving the journal and flipping quickly though it. Finding the correct page, he nodded, his memory confirmed. "Yes, a Runewell. Judging from the Sinspawn that appeared from it, and the theme of this place so far, we are dealing with a Runewell of Wrath." He rose, pacing around the room as he continued. "These Runewell feed on departed souls aligned with their sin, in this case wrathful souls. Upwards of a mile from here, anyone dying with wrath in their hearts will have their soul drawn into it, to feed its power. All the goblins that died the other day...it is likely they fueled the creation of ever Sinspawn we've encountered."
Stopping and slamming the journal shut, he returned to his backpack to pack it again "If all the power is drained from it, it will go inert. Seemingly there are two ways to do so, either by creating more Sinspawn, or by touching it, although the later is dangerous. Were it to fall inert we could destroy it, although I do not know how."
He looked at the others, a sigh on his lips and a tired look in his eyes "But that can wait I think. The Runewell isnt going anywhere, and we can return tomorrow, compel more Sinspawn to arise until its power is exhausted, then start trying to find a way to destroy it for good."

DajellyMan |

Thalrik and Fraadok pace about the pool, studying it carefully for several minutes. Thalrik also studies the knife as he ponders the well. During this time, Arthur and Fraadok return to their normal size.
I lied, the knife is a +1 cold iron returning dagger, NOT silver as I previously stated
Thalrik wrinkles his brow as he takes a look at the runes written on the walls and on the well, and realizes that this is clearly an archaic form of Ancient Thassilonian. Lightbulbs going off, he pulls out Brodert Quink's journal and begins frantically flipping through the pages. He stops and reads through a page he remembered scanning over earlier and then exclaims:
"It is a foul thing! I came across it in Quinks journal. According to his studies, we are looking at a Runewell, thought luckily this one appears to be only of minor power." Fraadok looks up from his own ponderings to listen to the half-elf. As he does so, two drops of blood slowly slide down the length of his spear, and drop into the Runewell! There is another sudden rumbling as the well's light increases and flashes! Then, two Sinspawn reach their disgusting hands up and jump out of the pool with a scream! Round 1
Arthur rushes around the runewell and comes to Fraadok's aid! He lashes forward with his club (can you lash forward with a club? Ah well), and attempts to strike the sinspawn. Unfortunately, Arthur misjudges the creature's speed and his attack comes in too slow, just barely missing!

Dexter moves to the side and whips out his little gnomish flute. No not that. Seriously, guys, keep your minds outta the gutter.
A tear in his eye, he strums the instrument and begins to sing a passionate lament to his fallen comrades:
"Oh my Darlin, oh my Darlin, oh my Darlin Dayhammer! Lost and dying in a dungeon, oh my Darlin Dayhammer!"
"He had a buddy, who's name was Ferdin, his name was Ferdin Grenling! And now their dying in a dungeon, best friends for ever Ferdin and Darlin!"

His song is so beautiful and emotional, that the wrathful sinspawn calm down enough to shed a single tear.
