The blow from the Gor looked like it should have torn Marieke in half, instead she stumbled a few steps. Bending over, rolling her shoulder a couple of times, Marieke let out a sob of fear and pain, then straightened with a growl to face the beastman once more, her face a mask of rage.

The band of ungors do neither realize the shock their leader just experienced, nor do they understand anything of tactics and so they just begin to slaughter one of the oxens!

The gor licks his lips with a large slimy tongue and glares at Mareike - while Mareike's outbreak didn't have much impact, the gor somehow felt embarassed even by her try to threaten him.
The ugly beastman raises his weapon and lets it crash down on the follower of Sigmar.
The attack isn't as strong as the last one but hurts enough 8 damage

Mareike matches the Gor glare for glare, a snarl marring her pretty features. Seeing the beast's mighty swing coming, she acutally seems to lean in to the blow, allowing the mail shirt to take the brunt of the impact. A faint glow also appears at the point of impact between Mareike and the gor's weapon.
Turning with the energy of the gor's attack, Mareike spins around and delivers a blow with her axe towards the gor's exposed leg.
At Fernis' shout, Mareike spares him a furious glance then turns her attention back to the Gor.

@ Mareike: Stress is not connected to physical things like melee strike, ftigue is though.
Mareike's blow is again not well-aimed and she misses the ugly follower of Khorne completely (0 successes, 2 boons).
Fernis' blow is much better, it lacks ultimate power but it hits the gor behind the knee (1 success, 1 boon).
The ungors continue to slaughter the oxens, one of four is already down, while Vern frantically tries to drive them off with his dagger.

Rangnir concentrates and hesitates a moment too long as he strikes (1 delay 0 successes - put two recharge counters on Rangnir's block guard) . He opens himself up and will be unable to get his shield into the right position should the gor retaliate - which is really bad, since the attack was also futile.
Franz decides to use the distraction Rangnir's blow meant and attacks the gor from the side - a hit, but Franz realizes at once that melee fighting is much more exhausting than just pulling the trigger (1 fatigue, 2 banes - gor does not disengage).
The gor just croaks and turns to Rangnir, ready to make use of the dwarf's earlier mistake. But the beastman is wounded now and his movement becomes slower.

Ah, sorry, then the beastman just dances around in joy. You don't have to be clearer, was my fault.
The gor, miraculously healed by Khorne :), whirls around and hacks at poor Rangnir, who tries to parry as good as he can. The strike isn't aimed well, but still powerful enough to hurt the dwarf (1 success, 3 banes - you may disengage for free.)

@ZZ - Fernis has expertise in Melee Weapons and used his bounty hunter skill to give him one extra yellow for this encounter on combat and some other rolls.

This time, Fernis takes his time to aim - like a snake made of quicksilver his arms flashes forward, far too quick for the gor to dodge. Heavily blinded (3 successes, 1 boon, 1 delay - 2 additional counters on this action) the gor stumbles back and croaks loudly.
His defence weakend by the blinding strike, the gor is unable to fend off Mareike and so she hits (1 fatigue, 1 success, 1 boon).
The gor is close to death now, but the power of Khorne is still pulsing through his veins. The ungors, however, decide that with the coming of their leader's death, there is no need to stay. They turn and flee into the woods.
Rangnir cleaves air again, but as Franz decides to enter the fray, hitting the now weak gor is not a great problem (5 successes, 3 banes).
With pierced throat, the gor goes down, his grugling smothered by his own blood.

Bending over, blood and sweat dripping from her face, Mareike heaves huge lungfuls of air into her tired body. She never knew how difficult it would be to fight such a beast, but Sigmar saw them through.
Blessed by our lord, Sigmar she says to herself.

Zadlu moves to the gurgling Gor, kneeling beside the beast and laying his hand upon it soothingly "Peace child, it is your time and Morr welcomes you as he does all his children" he maintains his vigil, mumbling words of death and beyond until the gor has passed beyond and left the mortal coil in it's wake.

Franz cleans his blade, then sheaths it firmly. "Thanks to Sigmar indeed for our success. Now we must be away quickly, that horn could be heard for miles and may bring others. Drover, how soon can the dead oxen be freed? Are enough of the rest, alive and well, able to pull this cart to the manor, or need we abandon it and make haste for a place with walls?"

For a moment, Mareike is outraged by Zadlu's benediction of the beastman, but that passes quickly as all she cares about is that it is dead, what becomes of its soul, if it still had one, she cared not.

"Now that is waht I call a spirited fight! Not much a challenge, but still good enough to start the day." Moving to the monster, Fernis looks it over for any possible clues, items of interest, a piece to hack and claim a bounty.

@ Franz: Nothing, 2 go into the "opponent may disengage for free" line and 1 remaining has no effect.
Fernis is a bit underwhelmed by the beastman's possessions. The crude weapon it has used is far too clumsy for a human and the only valuable thing the monster carried around with it was a necklace made of silver pieces (7) and human ears...You don't know for sure, but you think the mgistrate of Ubersreik pays 20 silver for each killed gor. They take heads as proofs.
The drover slowly regains his composure and begins to free the dead oxen while his colleague leads one of the surviving animals to the second wagon - now both wagons have to be pulled by one of the beasts.
Vern frantically eyes the dark forest
Hurry up...hurry up! Herr Flechter is right, we can't stay here!
Who on which wagon doing what for the rest of the journey?

I have..... Mareike says biting off saying more as her face floods with emotion. With difficulty she calms her breathing, gives Rangnir a wan smile before marching over to the beastman corpse and tearing one of it's large teeth from its mouth. Wiping it on the grass she then secrets it in her pouch.
Mareike then hops up into her wagon, the second and waits for the journey to continue.

Fernis removes the beastman's head and tosses it in a burlap sack in the wagon. looking to his travelling companions he shrugs and says,{b]"How else are ta be getting paid?"[/b] With that he takes up his gear and again moves to the his position in the marching order.

After the gor has passed from this world, it's corpse is little more than meat - so Zadlu has no concerns with it's desecration. Absentmindedly wiping bloodstained hands upon his clothes, he returns to his previous seat in the rear wagon.
Unless I'm mistaken, favor will build back up to 5/5 now?

Looking to the dwarf he has been oathbound to defend, Fernis says,"Good combat, boy. The beast out here can be tougher than the wee grobi near your home karak. My family came from the Black Mountains and it was no uncommon event ta run inta one of their hunting parties. These beast are called Gor. Nasty, mean devils intent on destroying everything about 'em. The smaller ones 'ill follow 'is lead an' turn tail when he goes down. Much like many of them greenskins."
