Franz follows along to see what is up with the smith's mysterious illness. "Thank you Sister, I'm sure that it will only bring benefits."

Franz face darkens as the Doctor enters and makes a scene, Franz thinks, This is getting worse by the minute. Franz, genuinely irritated, decides to respond in kind. "Calm down Doctor, these fine dwarven members of good bearing are seeing to the health of their distant kinsman. I too wish to know more of what's happening here, so please be quiet and let us continue in peace. A few minutes won't matter." Franz will block his path, if needed, to stop the doctor from interfering.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Dr. Schreiber stomps over to you, but before he runs right into Franz stops and hisses

Wouldn't it be great news to the dwarven folk if their maladies could be cured by the sole presence of their kin?!

Just as it would be bad news to the dwarven folk if an ailing soul would suffer even more through the sole presence of their kin!

Rangnir tries to keep back his anger at the Doctors lack of respect.

Doctor Schreiber, I presume? I am sure you are doing your best to help my kin. I just hoped a few words in his fathers tongue would help his mind to gain the focus he needs to fight the darkness haunting his mind and soul, or have you tried that, yet?

Giving the cook a hard look, Mareike steps back and nods."Vinegar, cranberries, wine and cream....is that all?"

Stumbling around in the half-darkness, Marieke manages to find most of the ingredients the cook requested, only hitting her head once and stubbing her toes twice. After almost falling over the sack of potatoes, she steadied herself against a shelf and felt a draft moving over her sweaty forearm.

"What's this then?" she mutters to herself.

Putting her items down she investigates the shelf from where the draft is emerging.

Sorry - today was a full work day of meetings and kids got back sick... back now though.

Zadlu's curiosity is arisen and he waits for the guardsman to fade from sight before making an inspection of the tower where the item was left.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Unseen by any prying eyes, Zadlu climbs the tower. The platform on top of it is crammed with all kinds of large and small boxes, ammunition supplies, a barrel full of now solid tar and tools to fend off any possible besiegers or attackers.

Are you actively searching the long object? Might take a minute or two.

Squeezing through the gap, Mareike had a few moments of panic when she thought that the stone surrounding her had begun to press in upon her, squeezing the life from her...but then the passage widened slightly and her fear receded to the usual background noise of imagined sounds and peripheral shadows.

Reaching the end, Mareike took a deep breath and emerged into the strangely older area...her heart almost stopping when the cook's shout reached her from kitchen. With a gasp, she lurches back into the gap, hopefully her familiarity with the passage allowing her to make the journey back to the cellar a mite quicker than the original, tentative trek.

Having just reached the shelf, Mareike's heart sank as she heard the heavy tread of the cook on the top of the stairs. A silent prayer to Sigmar was answered when another voice addressed the cook and she paused in her descent. Taking advantage, Mareike quickly escaped the secret passage and closed the shelf, concealing the metallic click of the latch by kicking a nearby box and cursing.

Gathering up her ingredients she hurries up the stairs, thrusting them into the cooks ample arms "It's mighty dark down there, even with my candle...took me forever to find the cream."

Seeing Franz, she sketches a curtsy "Evening, m'Lord"

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

The cook only grunts when Mareike returns

Yeah...now whip the cream, I have to talk to the lord.

Just as Zadlu has finished hiding the rifle behind the shrine's metal plate, he notices another guard coming from the gatehouse-tower. The man is obviously searching for something and as he spots Zadlu he beckons him to come over.

The Tzarek Tournament brings me back to the number of chess tournaments I use to run and compete in. I forget how competitive and intense tournaments could be. I remember one game where in the third hour of play, I had finally had a one knight lead over my opponent and I ended up making one careless move and blowing it in the end. It sounds silly now, but at the time, it was extremely intense and a real emotional loss!

Crazy Coupon Ladies sounds like a wicked name for a band.

Sorry for being quiet the past few days: I've been really digging into the job search, and then it's been beautiful weather here in Oregon the past few days and I've been outside a lot and not at home. I think I may have found a job as an online note-taker, though, which will allow room for spending much excess time on the internet and specifically these forums.

Well then stop moping in the graveyard and join all the other half orc boys and girls. Next week Karlan is going to take the class on a field trip to a goblin village and the class will watch as Goblin smiths show us the fine craft of cobbling together dogslicers.

Wow cool, having a shocker day 1 back at work...zomg.

Will sort the thing out when I get home.

@Gerlick. I disagree. There's more to contributing to the game than simply swinging a sword, whilst you have certainly being shirking your responsibilitites in getting things dead, you ahve certainly been contributing to the play and feel, nay, roleplay if you will :)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Yup, I also see it like Harry, you roleplay with us, you level with us^^

@ Kirk: That'S good news.

@ Harry: What kind of job?

Male Half Orc Rog5 Cav 3: HP:84/84, - AC: 21/T:14/FF:18 - Perception: +12(Dark Vision) F: +6/R: +8/W: +4 - CMB: +11 - CMD: 25, Speed: 30ft, Init: +2 (+4)

Easy today, I was just doing my vocational trainer duties, but its a lot of standing and lecturing, which wasn't comfy... and its the last week before a four week break... yes, I have two weeks off ill, go back for a week, and then take FOUR WEEKS OFF... the weeks I was supposed to go away on my EPIC TRIP. :(

Sadly, no sports stuff for a while (though I still go along to watch coach quietly) and no crazy running around or field time for a while.

And Harry HP - 1d8 ⇒ 6, will have the sheet up soon.

Edit-Changes to Harry:

Skill buys in: Bluff/Dip/Intim/Know(Loc)/Percep/SenseMot/Sleight/Stealth
FC bonus 1hp.
Rogue Trick - Weapon Focus (Great Axe)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Vocational trainer means you do career counselling?

t means I train people at tertiary level in Business, Management, Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, and Marketing. :)

Goes well with my other endeavours :p

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Isn't it strange that so many people on these boards have an educational job or brackground?

Well that said, I came from Senior Management in the Private (Business/Industrial Relations) sector... but also have a Security & Military background :p

Because Gerlick spontaneously changing personality is a good thing? I'd be annoyed if he did. Sure, he doesn't play the most open or welcoming character, but Zyren agreed to that right off the bat and now it's causing some difficulties. I don't want him to be railroaded into the group either. There must be a way to do this in a non-OOC way, some reason why Gerlick would want to go with us and some reason why we would want Gerlick to come with us. Just going "BTW I want to join you now I suddenly love the world" won't cut it.

Just my opinion.

Nieve wrote:

I don't think anyone would suggest a personality transplant, and really it isn't causing any 'difficulties' per se, so it's not really a problem.

At the end of the day though, he keeps getting given opportunities to come in from the cold, and very good reasons to do so... eventually even the most intrasient stubborn person would crack and join in, they might never come to the inner circle, but practical realities of survival and self interest in an unforgiving feudal society would probably motivate them to home team. That and most people, even the most boring, usually have some aspiration, and Gerlick would be wise enough to realise these would never come to fruit left on his own...

So we keep inviting :)

Male Orc Expert 5

No one's asking for gerlick to change characters. He's pointed out that he feels he hasn't earned that level. I've pointed out that if he wants to feel like hes earned it he needs to endeavor being more active with the group. He has been invited but people aren't really going to push him into it. Not when he's limping about saying "I'm cursed by the gods".

The other thing is if he wants to continue playing this character this way he's going to have to live with xp being given to him. If he doesn't gain in power eventually he's going to stop getting invited because of the situations we'll be getting into being more and more dangerous and we don't want to see him get killed. It's not railroading if the other characters decide that leaving the crippled, cursed, and ornery half orc behind because they're delving ino the lair of a not so cursed and quite healthy black dragon. PArticularly if he's still level 1.

Alrighty. I have been thinking about this since last night and the events of the Glassworks.

I am going to leave the group.

You are probably going to ask why? Well, here is the main reason:

Gerlick doesn't mesh with the party. 750 posts in, and he has yet to really interact. Not blaming anyone but myself about this, I did play the loner antisocial guy.

As much as I enjoy the roleplaying, I just cannot forsee a way for him to get into the group at this point without a rapid and nonsensical personality shift. After Harry's IC antics (and yes I know its IC) Gerlick is beyond annoyed. So, rather then cause any drama I am going to leave.

Nieve can heal, so he takes over for healing.

You also proved you are more then capable as a group in dealing with threats so Gerlick is not even needed in that capacity.

Suffice to say, you guys are doing fine without his help, and he adds nothing to the group right now. And I, as his player, don't see a way to correct it without rewriting his personality. And honestly, after 700+ posts, I am not going to do that.

Enjoy the game, I am going to keep lurking! :)

And I am gonna write Gerlick out of the game right now!

<insert expletives here>

Ain't happy about this, but you do what you have to do.

EDIT: If the character Gerlick was the problem, though (or not problem, maybe inconvenience is a better word?) couldn't he possibly make another character that... isn't difficult that way?

Male Orc Expert 5

NNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Wow, looks like I totally underestimated...no, didn't even realize here are problems at all?

I thought all the comments were rather of the comical sort :(

I must say that I don't want to lose any of you players-so any chance you stick around with us and just change character? (which is weirdo enough for me already.)

Do you mean create a new character entirely? I would not be opposed to it, but its up to you Zyren.

The "problems" are nothing you were doing. I just realized that at this point, Gerlick was not only NOT going to come around IC, but rather was getting more and more distrustful of the people around him beyond Naffer.

So iffen ya want me to make a new dude, let me know and give me the rules on how you want me to build :) If you prefer a class specifically let me know. I am currently in love with the Godling Class by Super Genius Games but its a 3rd Party Class and not everyone knows about it haha.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Before losing you, I would always say: Stay and create a new character. No problem to squeeze you into the story.

I would ask you though to stay with the Core and APG classes.

Creation rules are the same as before 4d6X6, free distribution. You start in lvl 2 but just with a double rolled starting wealth. You choose two traits.

Male Orc Expert 5

Btw been meaning to ask how much gold KArlan got from the hagfish test. I'm sure he would have counted it by now.

Core and APG are fine.

What was the minimum total for the stats? 75 right? Or was it 65 total. I forget >.>

I will make SURE this character is alot more social haha.

No Ultimate Magic though? I was curious about the new Archtypes in there.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

It was 75 :)

You may also consider the following races:

Goblin, Kobold, Centaur.
