Well, someone can roll a knowledge check to see if they know what it is... not sure which knowledge it would be.
Depending on how the round goes I might try that, just dont want to waste an action if I can get Tavlor back on his feet or contribute to dropping this thing. That said if combat so far seems ineffective it might be the best choice.

I thought Knowledge checks were free actions.
Right, was more thinking that I might have to move and maneuver to see it or some such thing and pass Tavlor by - it's pretty crowded around the "not" Proudstump.
Thought that would be fine if I go to smack it I guess, I should have been clearer ; )

Don't do yourselves down guys you knocked it down to 1 HP in one round of combat..and it flees if it goes below 6.Combat is over.
Scent btw is a great way to discover creastures with shape changing abilities. It just didnt smell right to Tofa..Proudstump does come into town ocassionally and the smart little fox has probably encountered him before..and would remember his distinctive scent.
Knowledge:Dungeoneering to identify what that was.Remember you can try untrained checks but the best score you can get is a 10 (which off course is enough for an assist)

@ DM Wellard- Okay ever since I walked away from my last post I've gotten myself into a bit of an intellectual tizzy. Basically I am wondering if breadth of experience is a good feat, and let's me basically attempt, with a small bonus, any knowledge check I want a la bard lite (releasing me from the max 10 result cap) or is it a fairly bad feat that makes me really good at assisting people with knowledge checks (since it would basically make my assist dc -2) ? I'm getting caught up on the "untrained" text of the feat ie. Why mention it if everyone can try to make a knowledge check untrained? It seems to me that normal applications of the phrase "you can make this check untrained" via magic or other abilities is about lifting the inherent restrictions that being untrained brings but without giving you the significant bonuses that training provides...
I guess I am looking for a ruling and potentially a mea culpa feat adjustment depending, thanks.

@PD..My interpretation of the rather badly written feat is that you can make normal checks on every knowledge skill..however I won't allow take 10 or take 20 on untrained checks and your +2 bonus only goes on trained skills.
Ill adjust my sheet accordingly, thank you.

I should note, as it occurs to me now that Runa is opening the door, that Zaladrel can look *through* doors/walls/what have you if we need to. Its one of his domain powers. The door can't be super super thick at this level but something to keep in mind if we don't want to pull it open blind. It does take me a minute though so not good when we are in a rush.
Although, that said, it may not matter that Zaladrel can look through walls since he is blind.
@Phillip0614 - If we are gonna be blind together I demand we have a cute name like "The Unseers" or "The Sandpoint Nevernotice" or something.
Having the cleric and fighter not being able to notice anything isn't too bad, mostly people will yell at Ulf "Go Hit THAT!" and will yell at Zaladrel "Go Buff/Heal/Turn THAT!" We don't really NEED to see anything...

Just reminding you, Wellard, that starting tomorrow I'll be at work for the next six days. I'll be back steady after that. I think you've got a good enough grasp of Lissa's personality to run her well enough. Do with her whatever you feel is best for your campaign in my absence.

Good luck with your work! Have fun with your professional role-playing!

I find this conflict conducive to roleplaying; it's not really inter-party antagonism, in my opinion. I like it! Well done, both of you! It's adds a certain gravity to the game when there are differences of opinion, in-character. :)
EDIT: I'll be unable to post until later this evening; I've got church, lunch with the in-laws, and my tabletop Kingmaker game booking me solid until then! Feel free to move on without me! :)

The hardest part of being in this PbP is that I'm an AP Subscriber, so it would be really easy for me to pick up Brinewall Legacy and get an advance look into exactly what's going on. Such a temptation! I haven't done it yet, though, and I don't plan on doing it.
Maybe I should ask my wife to hide the books from me until we're done. >.>

Wow, why is everyone getting sick all of the sudden... :(
Hope you guys feel better.
Well for me I have a one year old that runs me ragged, he also doesnt like to sleep so that all sets me up for the colds anf what not. It doesnt help I work at a college which.is practically an illness waiting to happen. ; )

DM Wellard |

I hate being sick! I hope you both feel better! :(
[random information]I have a (relatively) new daughter; she's my first child and 4 months old. I'm waiting for the time she eventually gets sick . . .[/random information]
Be prepared for alternating moods of helplessness, panic and frustration with the medical professionals.
I have an 8 year old with Autism and Delayed Development. She has an emotional age of about 2 1/2 and very little speech..One of the worst things about it is when she gets sick she can't express where she hurts.

On a less serious note, I think I've been doing critical hit damage calculation wrong for as long as I can remember. After seeing how everyone's doing it in the PbP, I went and looked it up and, I be doggone, you DO roll the damage dice multiple times when a crit is scored. Since I started playing in tabletop RPGs nearly ten years ago, I've always seen it played, and played it, where you just take the one die of damage and multiply it by the weapon's critical multiplier.

I think this is a fairly common house type rule that shows up. I have played with groups that did this too. I feel like we knew it was not quite what the book said but I am probably wrong about that part. Nonetheless I have played it both ways. I like each system in their own right when I get more damage ;-)
