Okay, we'll go with that then.
Tanrov jumps like he's been hit at Andrazi's comment, "Sorry big guy, I'll stop wasting time".
Lifting the jar and tilting it a bit with his free hand until the key is settled on the side of the jar, spilling some of the clear liquid in the process, Tanrov withdraws his dagger and reaches in with his hand to retrieve the key.

Tanrov reaches into the jar, quick snatching the key while getting only his fingers wet. The liquid is cool, but as he pulls his hand out, key in hand, his skin begins to feel as if it's burning. Dropping the key safely on the table, he instinctively wipes his hand dry on his armor.
Tanrov suffers 1d6 ⇒ 1 acid damage from the liquid.

Studying the red-lacquered box, Hekirin does not discover anything unusual about container. Given the all clear, Tanrov takes his turn with his new prize. When it is placed in the chest’s keyhole, nothing happens and the key keeps spinning without making any manner of contact with the mechanism.
Tanrov-Speaks-With-Beasts |
This is taking kind of a long time. Guys, feel free to do stuff.
Tanrov stares in disbelief at his now empty hand.
Out of ideas, he approaches the wicker basket. Having already visually examined it he grasps the container and shakes it briefly listening for anything suspicious. Assuming there isn't anything He opens it.

Shaking the wicker basket, Tanrov and anyone standing near him, hears the sound of angry hiss issued from within.
Meanwhile, Hekirin begins to apply his skills to the mechanisms still holding the other containers closed. Ignoring the copper-banded chest, he fiddles with the red lacquered one before growing frustrated and moving on to the steel chest.
Thoradin |
Sorry for the Delay, been under the Weather
" Watch out Lads the copper-banded chest, the clasp of the steel chest, and dem' runes are all magical.."
As Fer the Snake, Lets Deal with it' Quickly..
Thoradin Draws his Warhammer and Readies it to strike at the snake if it comes out of the Basket
Andrazi |
"Yea, I got a feeling we're not suppose to kill the snake. This is probably another puzzle that we need to solve. Just open it very carefully, there might be something else in it besides the snake."
DM_the Loreweaver |
With Hekirin absorbed in studying the steel chest, Tanrov kicks the wicker basket over. There's another hiss as the lid rolls off. A pile of crumpled linens spill out, nearly covering a blue stone key. No sooner does the wicker lid come to a rest than a writhing angry viper emerges from the basket.
As everyone, other than Hekirin, prepared themselves for the contents of the basket, you can take a single action. Consider this a surprise round against the snake. Only Tanrov is actually adjacent to it at the moment.
Things are still kind of touch and go around here, but I thought I'd take the opportunity while I had to it make a post. Things will probably still be pretty spotty for a few more days, but I'll try to keep things moving along as best I can. Thanks for understanding.

With practiced ease, Srine pierces the serpent with her arrow. It's difficult to tell whether it was a killing shot, however, as Tanrov's earth-breaker comes crashing down a split second later, flattening the snake and shattering Srina's arrow with a single blow.
Hekirin, meanwhile, continues to figit with the steel box. His skill and tools make it a simple job to disarm the trap that he had located.
Tanrov-Speaks-With-Beasts |
Tanrov prods the snake-paste with the end of his weapon.
"Nice shot 'Rina!", he says with a grin.
Walking over to the spilled contents of the basket he picks up the blue stone, "Hopefully this one won't fall apart".
Key in hand, the burly youth tries it in the copper-banded chest.
If it doesn't fit in that chest we'll try the key in the smooth steel cube.
DM_the Loreweaver |
Tanrov tries the blue stone key in the copper-banded chest. Upon doing so, it quickly becomes apparent that that is not the lock for this key.
He proceeds to check the steel cube which Hekirin has been busying himself with. This time, the key will not even fit into the hole provided. Undeterred, he moves on to the red-lacquered chest next. The key fits smoothly and turns effortlessly. There's a dull clunk as the locking mechanism releases the lid.
Perception checks, please.
DM_the Loreweaver |
Flipping the lid open, Tanrov reveals yet another key. This one has been forged into the end of a jeweled scepter.
Just to recap the state of things at the moment:
*the glass jar is broken and empty. The key it contained was destroyed.
*the wicker basket is knocked over and also empty. The key it held has been used to open the red-lacquered chest.
*according to Hekirin the copper-banded chest is an illusion.
*the red-lacquered chest is now open and contains another key.
*the steel chest is still closed and locked, but the trap is disabled.
*the door to this room is still locked (a key hole exists on this side of the door as well).

"Well why didn't you say so? This should be easy." Andrazi responds when he looks up. He draws his starknife and throws it at the rope in an attempt to cut it down. He picks it up and repeats it until he succeeds.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
"Well, maybe not that easy."
DM_the Loreweaver |
Andrazi makes his first toss of his starknife with gusto, but the spinning blade goes wide of it's target. His subsequent throws are more practiced, but wind up bouncing off the ceiling or striking the key without severing the cord. Finally, after about a half dozen tries, the starknife flies true, cutting the cord just before it skips off the ceiling and lands against the far wall. With a crisp metal ring, the key lands on the floor in the center of the room.

The golden key easily unlocks the steel chest. Inside, Tanrov discovers a folded piece of parchment that displays the map of the Salhar burial vaults. Laying atop the map is a simple wand made of yew wood and tappered to a bulbous point. Andrazi uses the key on the scepture to unlock the final obsticle - the door to this room.
Outside, Amenopheus's servant is standing patiently. He raises his eyebrows as he looks the party over, "Very good, Pathfinders. You may keep the map and the wand, but I must insist that you turn over any of the keys still in your posession."
