Since that's the case, I have removed the hyena from the map.

Utnapishtim neither Shifted nor Acid Splashed. He simply moved out of the room.

Ark and Tik both move toward the door. Ark reaches out his hand to grab Prof's dagger with a cocky tone of frustration. The quasit finishes her spell and conjures a bloody human skeleton next to Zol. The skeleton swings his bloody fleshless hands attempting to flay Zol's skin away, but neither clawed hand finds squishy tissue. The quasit casts another spell at Zol, and nothing happens. Ark hands the dagger back to Prof, clearly he is setting himself up for a charge of sorts.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

prof:
You missed your spellcraft roll by 1 last round to identify summon monster 1 being cast, now that you see the bloody skeleton you can piece it together.

Zol's knowledge religion / bardic knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 7 If with your bonuses you can beat a DC 12 knowledge religion you can know what Prof knows

This is a bloody skeleton Feel free to look at the stat block, you had a high enough roll.

Zol's will save VS DC 12: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Full Round Casting, How I run it:
I have always, and in this combat, run summon spells that require a full round action as follows. Cast spell using your standard + move + any other free or immediate actions, beginning of your next turn the spell goes off and you get your normal allotment of actions (move, standard, immediate, and free). I think it would be fair to say that next round you lose your move action not your standard action as that was the type of action used. If you can find a rule then we can use the rule and keep it official. Oh, and I do want to point out one thing with my "house rule", it uses up your free actions, aka you cannot talk when you start casting the spell. You can use a free action before casting a spell but once it starts all your words are dedicated to the verbal component for the spell (unless silent spell feat is used). This will pop up eventually if you are going to be summoning lots so throwing it out there now.

silence when casting example:
Bob is summoning a giant fiendish cricket, before he casts he says "the ogre is behind that tree" as his free action and begins to cast his full round summon fiendish annoying insect spell. The fighter and support characters charge the tree in hopes to slay the ogre. Little does the party know is the ogre is a ninja, and the ninja ogre has snuck by the charging forces of righteousness and is closing in on the lonely summoner. The summoner notices the sneaky ogre with his perception check. He can either finish his spell or use a free action (which would lose his spell) to call back the party for help and save his hide.

Zol begins to set up a tacticle plan to combat the quasit and her minion, as Prof closes the door and begins to cast a spell. Ark charges forward and destroys the bloody skeleton in one hit of his mighty flail cracking bone and leaving a bloody pile on the floor. Tik takes out her crossbow and loads it. The quasit throws her dagger at Ark and it misses wildly.

Tik-
Ark or Zol use my crossbow.
Either have a better to hit.

Ark's charge attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Ark's damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

quasit attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 Miss

Ark takes 2 damage

@ Prof:

Start/Complete Full-Round Action

The “start full-round action” standard action lets you start undertaking a full-round action, which you can complete in the following round by using another standard action. You can't use this action to start or complete a full attack, charge, run, or withdraw.

- Free Action: The celestial eagle shrieks with the thrill of striking true and with righteous vengeance in its eyes.
____________________________________________________________

Well, dang. Look at the eagle go! I'm going to name him Stephen Colbert. LOL :-)

Zol's shot strikes true and strikes the glittery bat woman in the stomach, she lets out a long squeal and pulls out the bolt as black icor dribbles to the floor below. My Dress! My Dress! Just then Stephen Colbert, the celestial republican eagle of justice, is summoned to deal with this liberal fiend. It charges forward talons first and scratches at her face drawing more icor causing the dribble to be a steady stream to the floor below. Ark runs back to Prof and without asking takes his dagger, he moves closer and lets steel fly. The dagger catches her dress but misses the true target, she screams with more discontent at the new tear to her garment. Tik stays by Zol's side and reloads the crossbow for him, handing it back when it is loaded. The quasit unleashes her tiny dagger at the eagle and strikes blood. Her own wounds begin to close ever so slightly.

Ark's attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Miss
quasit's attack roll on Stephen Colbert: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Prof can you let me know Stephen's AC please? I am assuming AC 20 hits the republican champion.

The celestial hawks are smiting, so they bypass all DR.

They are size tiny, so they cannot flank.

They provoke an attack of opportunity by charging in.

Using the intimidate skill to demoralize has a static DC: 10 + the target's Hit Dice + the target's Wisdom modifier. (Link) The target doesn't get an opposed check.

That is funny, the quasit is shaken for the round because of Prof, Good job!

Prof's avian entourage of celestial defenders attack without mercy. The birds rip into her skin and dress as she begins to cry no longer about her dress but in pain! Zol fires the crossbow misses, reloads and hands it off to his awaiting teammate. Tik follows Zol's lead and does the same actions as him, including the missing. Ark runs over to the dagger and throws it up at the quasit hitting her square in the face forcing an eyeball from her socket. As soon as the dagger falls from her face her eye globe re enters her skull and she throws a wild throw mostly shaken from Prof's words and recently dislodged viewing orb.

Yes, ranged attacks still provoke. It's Christmas in August!

Tactical note: to avoid the AoO from tiny creatures, all you have to do is 5-foot-step. Tiny creatures must be in the enemy's square to damage them. That's why I wrote that they provoke an attack of opportunity when they charge in.

Is there anything in this room or the previous room that would help against the quasit?

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 1

"Surrender, demon! Yield now, and we may end you quickly. Else you will feel the full wrath of our righteous vengeance!"

Intimidate: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Hoping it is still intimidated from the previous rounds of high rolls.

Zol refires the borrowed crossbow at the quasit.

crossbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d8 ⇒ 2

"The little devil just won't surrender."

lol I'm fighting at level 1? lol I'll do it after this fight. I'm kinda looking for my books heh heh.

Ark what do you want to do?

@ Prof, there were some cobble stones from a broken wall you could throw at it. Otherwise nothing to note.

Thanks. I might think about gathering some cobblestones next turn, if things don't turn around for us soon.

Ark having missed his intial action, attempts to do so once more!
His arms flaiing about in the air.

Move and jump attempting to grab her. Incurring an AOO.
Acrobatics, for jump 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 2 = 14
Grapple if he makes it 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 5 - 2 = 16

Silver Crusade

If Ark's grapple is successful, Utnapishtim will attempt to Aid Another.

Aid Another: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

...and he will fail. :-(

The DC for the jump check is 4 / 1 foot jumped. So 7 feet X 4 =28. If I did that wrong please rule in. Do not have my books with me and ruling from online materials.

Tik: 1d20 ⇒ 16 miss
quasit attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 miss

Everyone misses this round.

Prof continues to preach the good word, then his voice croaks and he coughs, just a tickle in the throat but it stops his verbal assault for the moment. Both Zol and Tik fire her Crossbow missing wildly. Ark again runs and jumps trying to grab at the quasit missing again. The quasit throws her tiny Dagger at Ark but misses.

Top of the order.

Arkus glares.
One more round to fatigue ends.
Taking a deep breath, he repeats his action, his concentration focused on bringing down that flying pest.
Acrobatics 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 2 = 20

Here's a visual hilarity...

Utnapishtim, seeing Ark's intent, folds his fingers together to help give the barbarian a leg up for his next Acrobatics attempt.

Aid Another: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Yay! Ark gets a +2 on his next attempt to jump!!! :-)

Another round of misses by the group and Ark gets hit with the tiny dagger again. Then on the second round Zol strikes a nasty critical hit.

Tik: 1d20 ⇒ 14
quasit attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 Arks damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Ark 2 damage

Ark's jump check with Prof's aid: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 Not Enough
Prof's aid Ark for next time: 1d20 ⇒ 2 Not Enough
Zol's crossbow attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 confirm the crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Crit confirmed
damage: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 7) = 13
Tik's attack: 1d20 ⇒ 6 miss
Quasit attack on Ark: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 Miss

Completed an extra round because this fight is almost in stalemate. If any of you guys wanted a different action just speak up. Or describe the next few actions and I can do a fast version.

Ark take 2 damage
@ Ark, take the level of hit points you missed

Goes to the next room to gather some stones. On subsequent rounds, will alternately:

- throw stone
- intimidate

Until we decide to leave the room.

My plan was to keep firing my crossbow and obscenities hoping for a critical hit.

Ermmm Jump check? isn't that covered under acrobatics? Just to check here.

@ Ark yes it is.

I am making an executive decision here to move the story along. She has a handful of hit points left and I would like you guys to finish the dungeon so we could get our new player involved.

Prof runs from the room in search of the cobble stones and rock debris he spied earlier. Zol continues to fire Tik's Crossbow as she runs about the room collecting the bolts that missed and delivering them back to Zol to fire back. As Ark runs about the room trying to get enough speed to get a decent jump to grab the small demon throwing her returning Dagger at him.

amount of rounds it takes to defeat the quasit and who lands the telling blow: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

LOL, low roll indeed!

Prof leaves the room and finds a hearty supply of good sized rocks he quickly gathers them into his pack. Zol continues to fire Tik's recycled bolts with little success. Ark too finds no luck with the flying demon. Her wounds begin to heal and she gets a new confidence on the situation being played out in front of her. With thematically broad gestures she flails hers arms and wings back as if already declaring her victory.

Bow and tremble to my wrath and glory! Living hot bloods, know that you will be reformed in the majestic image of my goddess's will. You will be the spawn of wrathful sin. You will be the first in my army that will crawl from this hole to conquer the land above. The land the of daytime light will burn and suffer by my hands and my goddess's will! I will Herald a new... ugh.

Her last grand gesture of premature victory slammed her into the stone ceiling with such force the loud cracked could be heard by everyone in the room. She falls to the ground dazed from the injury and in less time than it takes to blink Ark is at her with his mighty axe. His heavy chops cut through the dress and her flesh to damage the floor below with massive divits. He continues to pulverize the demon as she raises her hands up in defense but no pity is taken on her. His axe strokes continues to disassemble the demon leaving more damage to the floor. Tik and Zol stand awestruck at the barbarian's rage. Prof enters just in time to see his hero slaying the mighty foe. More hefty axe strokes and Ark eventually stops fatigued from his victory. With inspection of the black bile puddle the only items that can be found are the tiny Dagger she used on the group and her dress that is nothing more than a rag.

Prof knows that the quasit must of been summoned somehow and most likely is in the abyss plotting her revenge on the group.

Questions comments side bantor?

@ Ark this used a round of rage

After the puddle is examined what would you folks like to do?

How would you like us to meet the new player? I'm out of spells and wouldn't mind a break.

On the other hand, I also don't mind pushing forward.

Up to you guys.

Want to bring him in after the dungeon is completely finished.
