There are many roads and paths in the world. Which one will you take? Where do you think it will lead you?

Oh, I didn't mention what kind of game I liked! Variety is best for me, I think (not much experience yet) - intrigue, dungeons, dialogue, skills. Sometimes the shopping scenes are my favourite >_>

Description:
Windrider Orc Cavalier of the Dragon 3. An 18 year old male orc, Alruc Mordred stand just over 6'1" tall and masses around 210 lbs without his armor and gear. Long-limbed and lean, his skin clearly shows his years spent on the range. A faint odor of sweat, both horse and orc clings to his riding leathers, despite the cleanliness and order of his gear. A long, heavy blade hangs from his left hip, balanced by a short dagger and handaxe on the right. He wears his hair shaved close, except for a strip along the center, tied back at the base of his neck with a braided leather cord.

Personality: Fairly serious, Alruc still acts like a young male in the prime of his life. A qualified hunter and scout for his clan (The White Clouds), he has entered the wide world in search of experience, treasure, and the chance to prove his exceptional-ness. Coming back home with a pack full of treasure and a strong wife at the head of a line of fine animals is his ultimate goal.

Background: Part of the culture of the Windriders includes a young person's travels in proving him or herself as valuable to the clan. Alruc has learned the basics of his people; he rides well, fights well, and can live rough off the land just fine. Now, he seeks a chance to establish a name for himself and wealth for his tribe. Coming home scarred and toughened by the forge of the world meets the minimum, but returning a champion stands firm as his plan.

Krogath is nearly finished. His equipment still has a ways to go, but the core mechanics and fluff are complete; they may need a little polishing, but I'll finish that as I work through the equipment struggle.

RP Prompt:

DM-Salsa wrote:

The bartender is a gruff fellow with a surly disposition.

The bar is filled with the rowdy chatter and bad singing that is to be expected of such a disreputable tavern. The bar is the only place with any seats left and you make your way over.

"Take a seat," the burly barkeep says sourly, "be with you in a moment. I'm a little busy"

Looking around, you can't help but notice that even as full as the tavern is, the barkeep isn't serving any drinks.

Krogath climbs into a seat, but only to be at better height to address the barkeep. He raps his knuckles hard against the counter, a broad and obviously insincere smile crossing his face.

"Dear friend, perhaps I am a bit confused. You say you are busy, yet I do not see libations flowing freely. Are you not concerned with business?" Krogath raises his voice, banging on the counter yet again. "Perhaps our coin is not good enough for one such as you? In either case, 'tis a terrible way to run an establishment, and your customers deserve better!"

Procuring a few mixed coins from his purse, the Dwarf plops them on the bar in a stack. "I, and the good people around me, would like ale. See to it that getting drinks for us is what keeps you busy!"

As far as adventure hooks, Krogath would much appreciate a great deal of travel, for whatever the cause. His life is a bit lonely, and if he could find a group of companions willing to overlook his eccentricities for the obvious aid he'd bring, he would be willing to accompany them nearly anywhere. Danger brings death, and Krogath will sieze upon any opportunity he can find to study and manipulate the energies of life.

Think I am ready except for...

RP Sample:

The bartender is a gruff fellow with a surly disposition.
The bar is filled with the rowdy chatter and bad singing that is to be expected of such a disreputable tavern. The bar is the only place with any seats left and you make your way over.

"Take a seat," the burly barkeep says sourly, "be with you in a moment. I'm a little busy."

Looking around, you can't help but notice that even as full as the tavern is, the barkeep isn't serving any drinks.

Caomhnóir frowns briefly as he bobs his head looking up and down the bar. Sensing some sort of tension from the bartender the eliciter offers an easy smile, Anything I can do to help? I have hands, I can pour a drink and I'll give you my bag so you know I won't run off.

The elf playfully pats at his backpack as he raises an eyebrow at the bartender...Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

Clearly Cao is built to talk but his abilities can affect anything but mindless creatures so he should work in a diversity of settings. I will have increasingly more bard like buff abilities as well as more sustainable control abilities moving forward so I am up for just about anything as long as its not an endless deluge of undead that I can't do anything to...until I take more destruction sphere talents. :p

Varied adventures would be best for me.

Roleplaying sample :

The bar is filled with the rowdy chatter and bad singing that is to be expected of such a disreputable tavern. The bar is the only place with any seats left and you make your way over.

"Take a seat," the burly barkeep says sourly, "be with you in a moment. I'm a little busy."

Looking around, you can't help but notice that even as full as the tavern is, the barkeep isn't serving any drinks.

The tall girl sitting at the bar takes a second look around the room looking for the reason for the lack of drinks and everyone that looks like he could put up a good fight.

The martial artist turns back to the bartender and asks with a grin "who or what do I have to punch around here to get some booze"

She rubs her scar, that is both inconspicuous and impossible to not notice, absendmindedly. "I've got coin if that's the problem "

This is the alias for Browman's Incanter.

Still sorting out traits, languages and gear but the rest should be done. Is there a list of languages to pick from? I know 6 other than common.

Septimus prefers to dress in scholars robes and when traveling uses a spear as a walking stick and has a small backpack with essential gear including of course a notebook. There is a belt with a few pouches containing coins and snacks. Thinking is a hungry job, and Septimus is always thinking.

Septimus is slightly shorter than average with a thin but tough build. He has thin black hair that is naturally slightly curly. He is in his early twenties, but his hairline is already receding.

Septimus is smart, really smart and always thinking. But he isn't a very wise or charismatic man. Most of his knowledge comes from books and speaking to wise old scholars, his lack of "street smarts" often impacts the practicality of his ideas. He is a friendly man but not very good at talking to people and when he does he tends to ramble about something he has learned.

He is from a merchant family of Sal-port that had enough money to get by comfortably, but not of the upper class. He is good with sums, and would have greatly improved his family's business if he had joined it. But he was accepted into a center of learning instead; there he learned much both mundane and magical and has at least a passing knowledge of most academic subjects. Recently having completed his studies it was recommended to him that he spend some time away from the sheltered life of study and learn how the modern world works in practice instead of in books.

I am interested in having the party do a mix of things, not tied to one type of encounter.

A roleplay sample will be up later.

Sorry guys, feeling really crummy just now and I don't really have the energy to compile a list at the moment, or work on writing up the rest of the flavor for the races.

That said, psionichamster, I'm totally stealing that bit about travelling to find what the clans need. That's something that I can definitely see the Windriders doing.

Dot for interest. I'd like to see how my pending campaign applications turn out before commiting to any more, however.

Sczarni

Seems like a typical Mongolian /nomadic horse tribe kind of behavior. I know it was fairly common in the American west, back when. Probably almost as dangerous, too, I'd wager.

Basicaly, I'm envisioning the Wind rider orcs as a combination of Sioux/Comanche/Crow American Indian tribes and the Mongolian steppe nomads.

Scarab Sages

I'm going to be super busy until Sunday afternoon. I'll still be working on bruno, but if I'm not done before then, know it isn't entirely my fault. :)

I'm keeping this open until April 6. I think you've got time. ;)

Still making progress on the fluff. If anyone needs or wants a specific race, let me know and I'll focus on them. Only got two of the elves left.

Also very busy at work - will slowly get things together on this one.

Have come up with a his clan though - an offshoot or associate of the Whitescales - Clan Hrīmklóar (Rimeclaw)

His Bloodline will be White Dragon/Ice Linnorm :)

Salsa did you have a chance to look over what I sent?

Also are we gonna use Background skills?

Edward Sobel wrote:

Yes and yes. Sorry I thought I had set you a PM, I must have forgotten to.

I like what you have, and anything east of the Glittering Sea is wide open, other than it's mostly going to be of asian influence. If you want, and this goes for anybody, not just Ed here, I'd be more than happy to help flesh out an area I just skimmed over.

Or I could just make up extra Ironwall details as needed. Is that ok?

Of course.

HP rolls:

level 2: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Level 3: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Just got back from out of state trip. Still interested and should have a more specific post up later tonight or tomorrow. Saturday at latest.
Gotta fo over the specs for the race

SALSA : do you have the hero lab program? if so I could send you the character file that way. If not ok as well.

Anyone interested in "teaming" characters up in concept or background? I have found that this is fun and have enjoyed it in the past.

If anyone is let me know here and PM as well please

Scarab Sages

Ya. I'm always interested in that kind of thing. Do you have anything specific in mind?

Anyone from rural Trinia? Krogath has likely been to your village offering healing.

...ignore the alias, I pasted over it earlier and am still fixing it back.

Herkymr the Silly wrote:

I do but I don't have all the packages for Pathfinder. Most of them, but not all. How do you want to send it?

Choon wrote:

working on a concept to see if it matches/meshes with what you have posted. Then send it to you as well as post here.

should have concept atleast up shortly

Sending hero lab was my original thought but in fairness...I think that I should probably post it in an alias here on boards instead / as well so that others can see as well

should have a concept basics iup soon

So I will most likely be submitting a tiefling thatamurgist (yes misspelled)--so was misspelled :) -- with sphere focus in warp

still working out specifics due to probably working in a background connection between Choon and I.

kinda mixing and matching nightcrawler and raistlin Majere stereo types with my boons/draw backs and casting tradition.

SALSA: I do have a few interesting (atleast to me) things I would like to try but will open conversation in PM about them with you probably tomorrow as it is late tonight

Scarab Sages

Just how much are teiflings maligned in your setting, salsa?
Actually, I don't remember seeing teiflings on the race list. Are they permitted?

Silver Crusade

I saw them in the core doc, along with aasimars.

Silver Crusade

Really would like to submit a Vigilante... but I don't know how well that would work...

Scarab Sages

Rysky wrote:

Ok. Must have overlooked it. Are they generally distrusted like on golarion?

Yep, most of them end up being slaves.

Rysky wrote:

you should try the new Magical child (aka Magical girl) Archetype been wondering about that one since i heard about it.

Curious, did you draw up a world map at all... was just wondering.

I will make some modifications to my backstory to give more info about those lands to the east and post them here in case others want to use it

Rysky wrote:

I forgot about that class. Is the playtest doc still up?

Also, yes tieflings are allowed, you may also pick a tiefling heritage.

An one last question, where is the magical child archetype from?

I do have a world map, or three, but I think all of them are on paper.

Silver Crusade

Dunno about the playtest, but I'm a subscriber.

Magical child is an archetype for the Vigilante.

Waiting till March 30th to get the pdf of Ultimate Intrigue... would like to see the final official Vigilante class

And see what I can use for PFS

here is the first draft of my characetrr story.

Mei is a human fighter (weapon master) Spear wielder and a bodyguard for hire.

the ending part is still under conversion from my table top game story to this game world.

EDIT: updated

Is there a specific region the elves come from or are they sort of intermixed with human populations. BAsed on what fluff there was it felt like there might be villages, towns etc but not nations of elves?

Yes there are villages towns and even small cities that are entirely, or mainly peopled by elves. There are not any elven nations, simply because any of them that did exist wound up being consumed by the the Thaumic Kingdoms, then Sal-Kavun as it became the dominate, then only Thaumic Kingdom.

So, long story short, elves do not have a specific place they come from, and, at least for some of them, are fairly well mixed in with humanity. I've finished up the elves document, so if you are wondering you can read that and find out which of the elven races do intermix with humans.

I feel like every time I have a questions it happens right on the heels of you getting the document done, bad timing for m, lol. I will look it up and maybe fiddle with my background, thanks Salsa.

No problem. :)

still working on my toon and story to tie in

definitely going to go S.o.P. Thaumaturge

looking to focus in teleportation primary then telekinesis as secondary spheres.

was leaning on tiefling for race but have some other ideas I am working on as well.

I will get things up asap

Salsa:
Would it be possible/allowable to throw "oils" (potions) as a weapon? I will pm you some ideas to how it might work mechanically. The decision is ultimately yours though.
Probably wont get to pm til tomorrow

Guys I'm going to withdraw my interest on this one. Work is continuing to stymie me and a dormant game I was in has recently started to thaw, so I owe it to the group to run with that again.

With ongoing games and RL, probably won't get the time this one deserves to build a befitting character. Enjoy, looks like an awesome world being built :)

See you all on the virtual table sometime.

Skal!

@Herkymr: I'd assume that it would work like throwing alchemist fire.

@Black Dow: Sorry to hear that you're dropping. Hope things go well for you, though.

Finally got his crunch repaired after that unfortunate accident. Now I'll just be replacing his backstory, and getting his equipment in order.

And all of the races are now done!

Since I've taken so long to get this done, the deadline is being pushed back to Saturday April 9th. That should give everyone two weeks to get their characters ready.

I'll get a list together tomorrow if I can. No promises there with it being easter and me being in a skype game that tends to last 5 to 6 hours every Sunday at 5pm.

DM-Salsa wrote:

I was thinking along the same lines.

RANGED TOUCH attack if targeting a creature and not a location.

Regular vial breaks on impact.

Iron vial must have a roll against normal dc. If failed vial doesn't break.
Either way with the Iron vial I would have it do 1d4 pnts of damage
******For metal armor MAYBE use the ac of armor as a bonus on strength check to show the difference in material hardness.

Spells that effectively have target/range as personal would effect the person coated with the oil as if they had cast it on themselves.

Cost of potions/oil as normal would help to inhibit over use and thus make it so that someone couldn't just use the oils instead of having spells.

Just my thoughts

Cheers Salsa

Might be a slim chance I make the extended deadline - will depend on how work shakes down over the next 7-10. Am hosting friends from Norway next weekend will likely be 4th April at the very earliest afore I get research time.

What is the legality/existence of drugs in Aletheria? Specifically wondering about opium as a medicinal aide, and maybe flayleaf for some flavor.

Krogath wrote:

Trinia and Ironwall do try to keep drug use regulated. The Norden prefer alcohol, and Sal-Kavun, well, imagine Rome as it falls. That's Sal-Kavun.

Gah, So sorry to make you wait so long. Never fails that I miss a question.

Anyway, to answer your question, there is, and I'm posting it below.

the Trade Tongue is Common. I just felt that common was too bland.
Deepspeech is Undercommon. See above for reason.
Old Kavuni is the language used by the nobles of Sal-Kavuni in their edicts, so all kavuni have to know it.
Rolgoni is the native tongue of the rolgoni.
Nordic is the tongue of the norden.
Alameiha is the tongue of the al-Sunni
You can also pick any of the planar tongues (Auran, Celestial, etc.)
You can also pick any of the more common monstrous tongues (Orc, Giant, Goblin, etc.)
And you can also learn to speak draconic.

If you have a question about a language, please ask. I'll try to answer it as soon as I can.
