Flame Dancer and both keep what you want and are thematically interesting. [url=http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/BARD/archetypes/paizo-bard-archetypes/arcane-duelist]Arcane Duelist will cost you bardic knowledge but is a good one for melee as much as I can tell.
Grimlak |
Forgot about bucklers, always confusing slashing grace and dervish dance.
I decided I will vmc rogue. It doesn't really effect my build (delays getting power attack til 8th (from 7th) and evasion til 11th (from 10th) but it helps my sneak attack to becoming almost full progression. Will update the crunch this evening.
DM-Salsa |
Okay, besides Lazyclownfish, does anyone else need some time to finish up their character?
Lazyclownfish |
Sorry about the delay. I got figuratively beat up at work yesterday and I couldn't focus last night to build a character. Tomorrow is my day off so it will be done by the end of the day.
I couldn't find any thorough background on the human ethnicities in the setting so I'm making some assumptions for the character's father.
Definitely going with half elf bard and nephew of Logram.
Lazyclownfish |
Ok so as I solidified the concept, I went back to skald. It just fits a lot better with the viking-ish father. I have him mostly built as a 2-handed strength character. His father is going to teach him how to call the spirits when he fights (spirit totem)
GM, how do you feel about this trait? The way I read it, it should cause the Strength, Constitution and Will Save bonuses to last an additional 2 rounds, but not the Rage Powers or AC penalty.
If you'd rather I skip the trait, I don't mind that either.
Another option is to make him a Spell Warrior, but I'm really not sure how Weapon Song works with summoned creatures and with dual shields.
I'd consider Urban Skald as well if we wanted to avoid the AC penalty.
Grimlak |
I'm sorted out.

I think I can answer the second part. Shields are considered weapons but there normal enhancements don't count as weapon enhancements. so your song would work but it would have to start at +1. However, the "bashing" enhancement allows shields to be considered to have a +1 weapon enhancement for the purpose of adding weapon enhancements to the shield.
Fortunately both my shields have the bashing enhancement.

Yeah that sounds about right.
DM-Salsa |
So, I'm thinking about kicking this off tomorrow. Is everyone ready or does anyone need more time?
Runia Koknyll |
I am ready for jolly cooperation.
Sorry for the radio silence. My brothers car broke so he had to use mine all week. Yesterday and today we both had to get up super early in the morning, and we work nights, to do paperwork to get him his own car.
Alfgeir Halvarsson |
This is Lazyclownfish's character. I still have some tweaking to do and I plan to write up the background tomorrow night.
The basic idea is that he's something of a thrill-seeker but for him it's always more about the story than the actual moment. He's Logram's nephew and probably quite often returns from hunts with his father, Halvar, just to rush over to his uncle's place to share in a drink and tell the extravagant(and probably somewhat embellished) story.
There will also be a little bit of trouble in his background relating to his mixed breed and getting along with the townsfolk, but he's learned to shrug it off.
He's looking for adventure and always talking about the next big challenge. He'll be overly brave and call for bold plans, but he won't pull the party into trouble unless they let him. I'll make sure he behaves if you guys propose a more careful strategy than he'd like.
I'm fine with starting as soon as you want if it's ok that I'm still putting in the finishing touches.
DM-Salsa |
And we've kicked things off. I'm giving everyone a chance to get into character and roll some dice, so not a lot of meat for a first post. Sorry.
There is one housekeeping thing I'd like to get taken care of now, though. I would like everyone to have their HP, Armor class, resistances, saves, perception, and initiative in their tagline. The format I use is below.
HP: 14/15, NL: 0 | AC 14/13/11, Cold Resistance 1 | F+4 R +5 W+7 | Per: +9 | Init: +3
I also normally have wand charges and ammunition up there as well, but I'm not going to require that for you guys.
At any rate, I'm happy to finally get this kicked off and I hope that you guys enjoy the ride. :)
Grimlak |
All, I bought a wand of cure light wounds with 50 charges. I cannot use it, if Alfgier or Runia would take it and keep track of the charges that would be great.
Alfgeir Halvarsson |
I'll hold the wand unless you guys think it's better on the druid.
Also, are we an established adventuring group in this scenario? We are level 6, so we could be.
Runia Koknyll |
I think I will go with Embla, though Runia was not raised there, if I can make a request. Can my mother have been either a child of or married to the tyrant mayor? If that does not work I can figure something out. But a lot will stay the same.
I picked the slag child trait and that would be a good reason to have that. Runia's mother fled and raised her daughter away from everyone. Her mother was a deeply paranoid woman and that did have an affect on Runia. She wants to see the best in people but there is always a nagging voice in here head that people are dangerous and will betray you. So she limits her time in towns and spends most of her time in the wild. Animals are more honest. She is fiercely protective of what she considers hers, animal, items, or people.
She is a bit of a thrill seeker and loves a good fight, so long as it is justified. I went with the Door Sight domain thing because being nosy is fun!
Also I apparently need to add “-slag,” “-slagsun,” or “-slagdam” to my surname... Not sure where I want to add that. That would have been a title her mother earned due to family and Runia inherited.
Runia Koknyll |
Hmm, people posted while I typed then forgot about before posting to shop. Runia does have a cure light wounds wand but I would be happy to trade that out for some other first level druid spell, if someone has a suggestion, or just keep the two wands as healing is important.
I am totally cool with us all having known each other for a while.
I will try and get the tag line thing hammered out tonight.
Also as I am spending the feat to get us a healer does anyone have a preference on either a Oracle with the life mystery, a Shaman, or a Cleric, domains to be decided if this is the preferred. They all have the various healing and resurrection spells.
Alfgeir Halvarsson |
I think two wands is a smart idea because that leaves us flexible to both be able to use them. As far as the cohort, I definitely recommend something with the cleric spell list so he/she can cure all the conditions.
Have you looked at the Succor Mystery? Makes for a cool teamwork-oriented healer.
My instinct is that a spontaneous caster will be easier to manage, as well.
Edit: Just because she earned that title doesn't mean she has to use it :P
Also, I think my crunch is fully done now.
Deaths Adorable Apprentice |
Oracles and Cleric share a spell list and the Shaman has a very similar list. They all just have a different flavor. Shamans are a little more complicated but have some flexibility with the wandering spirit and wandering hex. But I am more familiar with the Oracle and Cleric. Clerics get domain powers and more spell flexibility while Oracles are spontaneous with less flexibility.
And that is true about the Slag name. DM-Salsa! Have you an opinion?
The Succor mystery is cool. I lose out on the channel ability but that teamwork thing is so useful!
Runia Koknyll |
also I am ready to go
Runia Koknyll |
Nope. Will do after some sleep
DM-Salsa |
Runia, do you know that the gameplay thread is live? I guess nobody announced it. Heh.
I'll try to get a post up myself tomorrow.
Oops. Sorry.
Runia Koknyll |
Salsa I finally saw your email. Dumb update does not say if you have a new message. I did respond
Alfgeir Halvarsson |
I'm definitely ready to move on when you guys are. I've never been a huge fan of hanging out in taverns (in game or IRL). I'll have a lot more interesting things to write once things are in motion. :)
Definitely bandits for my vote. We can see about the others depending how that goes later.
DM-Salsa |
I'm fine with just brushing over the gathering of things. I'll move things along Monday if you guys aren't ready before then.
From what I see, the plan is to have a heavy wagon that looks like it's ladened with goods. One of you poses as a lone merchant/peddler and the others hide under tarps in the back with the other goods bought to sell the charade. You then travel along the roads and paths until you find the Kobold Gang.
Is that pretty much the gist of it?
DM-Salsa |
I really have no excuse beyond apparently dropping all the balls. Post coming shortly. sorry for the wait.
Runia Koknyll |
I'm here! Sorry, my posting has been rather spotty
DM-Salsa |
Compared to my GM posting, you've got nothing to worry about.
I am sorry about letting this slip like this. I will be picking up the pace, but I tend to give players somewhere to go and let them drive the story. I'll try to keep things moving along, though.
Alfgeir Halvarsson |
I'm not too sad about a slower pace if you need. I'll be here either way. :)
Edit: I think the plan is to rest and set out in the morning with us hiding in the wagon and Uncle driving it alone.
DM-Salsa |
I kinda figured, but I also figured I'd set up some other things while I was at it. :)
