Logram should have been around at least as long as Calli. He probably sees her like a human goddaughter.

I am amenable to both of those ideas :D

Trapper Ranger it is. Going to go Dwarf probably from somewhere else. Any ideas where that could be? I see him has having a history fighting drow or has fought drow in the past will something like that work?

HP Lvl. 2: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
HP Lvl. 3: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
HP Lvl. 4: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
HP Lvl. 5: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
HP Lvl. 6: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Will start working on background and crunch.

Woot Dwarves! I am also a Dwarf though I am a lady dwarf.

I am figuring she is from far away but likes this area since the isolation she enjoys is easily achieved and when she wants company that is not an animal there are not swarms of people. So she visits occasionally when the call of a hot bath and food she does not have to make herself sings its siren song.

I'll get some information up about the two major dwarven settlements in the region sometime this weekend. You can also be from one of the dwarven cities from somewhere else. I don't have any information on those, but, if you guys don't mind indulging me, I can plop down a truly massive city somewhere in the parts of the map marked "Here be dragons!"

This is Deaths Adorable Apprentice. The profile is still blank but should get filled out in time.

Rolls for tricks my owl, Crux Flux had learned over the last year and a half I had him. The Aberrant archetype increases the DC by 5 as I understand it. The three he gets for free are attack, bombard, and flee.

Rolls for tricks for my wolf, Knick Knack. This one was raised by hand. The two free ones are track and hunt.
Also can I take the Draconic Companion archetype and re-flavor as a winter wolf? So I would be picking cold for the abilities.

handle animal for watch DC15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
handle animal for stay DC15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

handle animal for sneak DC15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
handle animal for seek DC15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

It says I get to reroll and since I have had these two for a while I'm gonna reroll. I am doing all this might as well do those to. Sorry for the wall of dice! Since I have had these guys for a while can I role more than once? I will assume that most of the things that they failed at are things they do not like doing.

So Crux Flux will deliver things but that will likely be with a bite as well. Same with heel. Honestly just a lot of biting anyways. Sneak is the one I am sad about. As stealth is a focus. But with practice comes perfection.

Knick Knack does not like to be alone. This works for me.

BattleMaps | Chronicles of Kassen | HeroLab Files | Loot Sheet

If you want, I'd be willing to let you have a winter wolf companion.

I think a year should be good enough to train all those tricks, even with the rerolls.

feat yes feat no. Also yeah. That sounds cool :)

BattleMaps | Chronicles of Kassen | HeroLab Files | Loot Sheet

I'm guessing you mean the Improved Familiar feat? I'd have to say yes, you would need to take it. A winter wolf is already an intelligent magical beast. Obviously, your new fuzzy buddy won't be evil, so he shouldn't have the less desirable traits from the bestiary, namely the liking for sentient flesh.

Which is awesome but now I have to figure out which one I want more. Cause I could get a fuzzy buddy or leadership to grab a dedicated healer. Other players! Opinions?

Healer might be more useful. Right now you're our primary healer but I think we can make either work.

Also, I changed from trapper ranger to slayer to get trapfinding and the rogue talent trap spotter which allows me to get a perception check anytime I'm within ten feet of a trap.

Slayers are a cool class. We can call you Buffy :)

And I will pick up a healer with leadership next level. Druids are not the most amazing healers.

DM-Salsa are ok with me re-flavoring the draconic archetype as a winterwolf?

^^ I promise I will kill any vampires we encounter.

This is Chobo's slayer. Crunch and fluff are in the alias.

In summary, he fights with 2 dwarven war shields, he can hold the front lines pretty well, handle most traps and locks, and should have some opportunities to flank with Runia and her traveling Menagerie ;)

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Cut and pasted wrong fluff. Will fix when I get home tonight.

I think critters that walk on all fours have a bonus to their CMD vs trips but I am failing to find it. Otherwise I think I did all of my math on Knick Knack correct.

Hoot... hoot. That means 'worship me.'

+4 CMD vs trip

If your attack exceeds the target's CMD, the target is knocked prone. If your attack fails by 10 or more, you are knocked prone instead. If the target has more than two legs, add +2 to the DC of the combat maneuver attack roll for each additional leg it has. Some creatures—such as oozes, creatures without legs, and flying creatures—cannot be tripped.

Fluff is mostly done, I will make changes/adjustments once I find out more about the dwaven city options.

Also, Grimalk has an affinity (and their natural superiority) for dwarven ales (he should fit in well with Calli and Logram). He also has been know to pepper his conversations with swear words.

Here are some examples of his cursing, please let me know if this offends anyone, or if you have any dwarven curse words you'd like to share chime in.

-------

"By me bearded balls."

"come here you tree climbing tunnel worm."

"Orc (or elf or goblin) nuggets."

"Ye be about as sharp as a hammer."

Hah! No, nothing there that'd offend me :3

Haha! Bearded balls :)

I swear a lot in life so creative cursing is cool by me.

BattleMaps | Chronicles of Kassen | HeroLab Files | Loot Sheet

@DAA: Yes, you can refluff Knick Knack as a White Wolf.

@Chobo: VMC is allowed. I'm okay with the curses.

Haven't forgotten about the dwarven cities. I'll have that up tomorrow.

Also, is Logram still with us?

Sounds good. Thanks.

I have always liked the idea that dwarves decorate their hair and beard in the case of a man with rings that show accomplishments and things that matter. As I am a druid and metal is bad is there an issue with me having metal rings in my hair. Only some of them will be metal.

These are going to be on the brief side. There's a lot of information, especially on Embla, so if you want to know about something, just ask.

Embla:

Embla was originally founded as an outpost of Stoneholme. Shortly after its founding, it was overrun by grimlocks. The ruins became a trading post some years later and slowly more and more of the various traders and merchants looked to the dwarves for a source of order and stability. A few decades ago, a tyrant came to power and began to imprison, torture, and kill any non-dwarf that wandered into the city's reach. The people revolted and the guards turned on the tyrannical mayor and left him at Holoth's gates as a peace offering and apology for what had happened.

The city is centered around three massive formations known as gonjolas. One houses most of the government, another houses the market, and the third houses the entertainment district. Most races are welcome and Embla thrives on the trade that they bring.

Stoneholme:

The dwarven capital of the region, Stoneholme is a well-defended and somewhat insular place. It was founded by the Deepthunder clan after having spent years wandering the Deep (the book calls the underground tunnels and caverns the Underworld which sounds about as cheesy to me as calling it the Underdark.) Since its founding many centuries ago, it has become a cultural center for the dwarves and a bastion of security. Most of its kings rule for three and a half centuries before retiring to live out their days doing as they wish or advising their successors.

The city is most famous for the crystals that are so plentiful in this cavern. They can make armor and weapons as hard as adamantine, though they lose their durability if ever exposed to sunlight, or can be forged into armor and weapons that are twice as sharp and durable, though considerably more expensive.

The dwarves of Stoneholme despise the other races of the Deep and despite the size of the city, only one inn is to be found, the Tallest Tankard which was founded by one of the previous kings on his retirement.

Dovan Dur:

This one's my own creation, so don't worry about looking for more information.
The first and greatest of the dwarven cities, Dovan Dur has stood for thousands of years in a gigantic cavern at the base of the tallest mountain in the world. Part of the city is above ground, and home to most of the permanent non-dwarven residents, an unusual feature for a dwarven city.

The city is a hub for dozens of major trade routes and boasts the largest markets of all the realms. Just about anything can be found here if one looks hard enough. It is also the source for the mighty Dovan river, and the docks of Coinsport are among the most extensive to be found for thousands of miles.

It is also a mecca for scholars as the records of the Chroniclers are the most complete and accurate to be found, with the exception of the records detailing what is in the Magery, which were lost in a fire a few decades ago and have only been partially reassembled thanks to the teams of adventurers and mercenaries sent to map the strange district out.

Hey guys...

I've been noodling things over a little more in my mind and as much as I hate to do this, I think I'm actually going to bow out. Not due to any issues with you, DM, or any of the players, but because I'm already looking into adding one new long-term game to my dance card and even that might be a bit of a stretch for me as it is. Adding two would probably be irresponsible at this juncture - especially since I've been struggling some with what's likely low-grade depression as of late, which has made it more difficult than usual to post for the games that I already have.

I hate springing this after we've already spent some time talking about/working on characters but I wanted to speak up before the game actually starts and it becomes even harder to work a character into and out of the game :(

Please let me know if there's anything that I need to do before going, otherwise I'll wish you guys a good game and hope to see you around on the boards in the future :)

No worries here. Thanks for being upfront, take care.

DM Salsa, how do you want to proceeded? I suggest two options:
1. Recruit someone we know (I may have a few interested in games I play in).
2. Run with 3. If we do this we should do some of the following to balance things out; Start at 7th level, 25 point buy and max hit points, or we could stay sixth and go gestalt with max hp.

I don't mind going with three especially since we have a couple of animal companions. Just my thoughts.

Your health matters more than a game darling while I am sad for see you go I understand. As always I enjoy playing with you even when it is for a very short time. Best of luck dear.

Leaning toward being from Stoneholme, the insular nature of the place appeals to me Dwarven sense of propriety.

Aw man. I'm sorry to see ya go Lady L, but I do understand. Looking forward to the PFS game that'll be spinning up soon.

Lady L:

Also, if you need someone to talk to about it, I'm always willing to be a sympathetic ear. I know what it's like to suffer from depression, and to be honest I've been struggling a bit with it myself lately.

As for what to do, if you guys know someone that wants to play, and you want them to be a part of this, send them a link and tell them to stop in.

If you want more info on Stoneholme, let me know and I'll put it up, though there's not a lot of it.

Thanks DM and I really do appreciate the invite. Maybe once the weather warms a bit and work calms down I'll start feeling a little more like my usual self.

And thank you for the offer of a sympathetic ear. I might take you up on that a bit later if things don't improve.

If you don't mind, would you please move my aliases (Calli/Lady L) to inactive when you get a chance? Just trying to keep my campaigns page as tidy as I can manage, heh.

All, Lazy Clown Fish has accepted my invitation and will post sometime today.

@LCF - introduce yourself and decide what would you like to play we have dwarven druid (melee, summons and pets), elf alchemist (bombs and skills, and a dwarf slayer (melee and traps). So let us know what ideas you have and welcome.

Hey everyone. Thanks for having me along! I'm relatively new to the boards (about 6 months in pbp) but I've been active to some degree every day in that time (to my wife's sometimes frustration). I like cooperative gaming and it's been my primary hobby for a decade and a half. My priority is always that the game is fun and fair for everyone.

I can post nearly every day if the game is moving that fast. That said, I work a high pressure job and my workload can prevent me from posting thoroughly on or around government paydays (usually the 1st and 15th, but weekends mess with that). I'll make it a priority not to hold up combat.

As for a character, I want to read the setting information spoilered here before settling on anything, but my instinct is that the group could use frontline, arcane casting and healing. Which sounds like a bard to me.

I'm super open to suggestions.

Helloe and welcome aboard. I am the druid and I was planning on sinking the leadership feat to fill a void so don't worry about covering all of those roles. I was planning on picking up a healers as Druids are passable but do not compare to a Cleric or Oracle. Bards are only passable at it as well. But I am perfectly fine picking up a mage or another frontliner if that is what the group wants.

HP: 74/74, NL: 0 | AC 21/12/19 +2 vs aberrations | F+8 R +7 W+4 (+4 vs. spells and spell-like abilities; +2 vs. poison) | Per: +11 (+14 vs traps) | Init: +2

Bard is pretty versatile and flexible. Plus, the ability to buff is great. However, play what you want we can pivot.

I'd honestly love to play a bard or a skald. Is there a write up somewhere of the human ethnicities in the setting?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I was in no way telling you not to play a bard. I love bard and having a bard and alchemist together would give us all the buffs in the world!

I am finally getting to play one in a PbP game and she is alot of fun. The Street Performer archetype is great for flavor but iffy on functionality though half of that is my horrible rolling. Though I did just win a knife fight by rushing the person with the knife and eating the damage to shove her off the table. Gambling games where death is a one of the outcomes is always fun :)

Hmm, seems you ninja'd me. Bard's are fun. We will have so many buffs!

Oh and it occurred to me that the cleric spell list has the wonderful summon monster spells. I could swarm the battlefield! I won;t do that often cause that could make the fights less fun for others and I never want to do that. I will probably get an oracle with the life mystery or is there a Deity you would like to see be a bit of a focus on DM-Salsa? Something that will fit in the setting?

Hey Digger, how would you feel about your character having a sister who fell in with a (relatively) civilized Vikmordere and had a child who just won't seem to leave you alone. You'd be his favorite drunk uncle!

Half-elf/Half-viking bard anyone? XD

Anyway, I'm kind of building in the direction of a front-line bard. I'm going to look at Skald also since it could definitely fit, thematically.

HP: 74/74, NL: 0 | AC 21/12/19 +2 vs aberrations | F+8 R +7 W+4 (+4 vs. spells and spell-like abilities; +2 vs. poison) | Per: +11 (+14 vs traps) | Init: +2

^^ Sounds like a fun idea. What archetypes are you looking at?

I'm digging through stuff and I'm really not sure. I want to keep both bardic knowledge and inspire courage if possible, so that's limiting. If I go bard, I'm looking at a slashing grace build, the idea being that he has to learn a different style to wield his father's bastard sword with his elvish build. Skald would have to go strength though.

I'm open to giving up bardic knowledge but I don't want to give up the group support of a bardsong buff.

Any ideas/suggestions?

M Elf Alchemist (Fermenter) 6 | HP: 46/46 | AC 20/13/18 | F+5 R +7 W+2 (Elven Immunities | Per: +11, Low Light Vision | Init: +2

I agree, I don't like giving up inspire courage or bardic knowledge either. I usually go with a strength build as you can't use shields with slashing grace and bard is one of the few arcane casters able to cast with them. Unfortunately, I have no suggestions for archetypes.
