Hello and congrats! Go ahead and make yourself at home and have a drink. Don't mind the dwarf, he's mostly harmless. ;)
So, first order of business is doing a little refining on how exactly y'all got into this mess. This is mainly so I can get the opening narrations right and have something solid to refer to if/when we head back to where you were "detained."
Daerdryn
If I recall correctly, it was a jealous neighbor that somehow rigged things to get you accused of being a witch. would you mind elaborating on that?
Sigurd
I've only got one question on yours, did you have a fate in mind for Freydis?
Kieran
Would you be interested in tying your story in with either Sigurd's or the three changeling sisters (Elyana, Idana, and Olyena)?
Elyana, Idana, and Olyena
Well, since Rysky didn't apply, did the three of you have anything in mind for your brother's fate?
Sorry for the somewhat discombobulated post. It's getting late here and I wanted to try getting this up tonight.

Sigurd Warborn |

Thanks for the selection Salsa, I'm super excited to get my barbarian on. Been forever since I played this class.
As for the fate of Freydis, I leave it in the hands of whatever works best for the story. If she becomes a damsel in distress, he'll happily come and save her. If she becomes a badass shieldmaiden and saves him at some point, he'll fall in love and it'll be a Viking love story.
@F.Castor - Sigurd's story is relatively simple; he encounters Imperials that are harassing the bar wench he fancies while drunk and irritable. Unwilling to let it go by, the situation escalates until it grows violent. Then he does as a barbarian does best and kills a bunch of Imperials protecting this girl. He only surrenders when they threaten to kill her, hence how he ends up in the prison. I didn't want to make it too complicated since Sigurd isn't a very complicated man; he stands up for what is right, right then and there.
Can't wait to play with all you folks! :D

Ok, here goes.
Della Lashr is the neighbor's name. "Witches own nothing but fire," makes it pretty clear what Nettle does with their witches. They're also a bunch of scared farmers in a scary world. Most couldn't tell you the difference between a hag, a witch, and a mage. Just different shades of ugly and inappropriate. It's all semantics. As long as a caster behaves and "acts right," then they're not a witch. Get them riled up enough and they're likely to burn anyone who's strange enough to catch their attention.
Della started and guided the rumors about Daerdryn.
"Nice enough woman, but she never said she was a mage. Just where did her magic come from?"
"They never found poor Haldor's body. Suspicious that it was so close to town and yet, no one saw or heard anything. I hate to say it, but it almost seemed like Daerdryn was happy to see him go. Did you know she still gets letters from that lover of her's from Everwatch."
"You know how strange witch children can be. That boy and his dog. Something is not right abut them. I swear, when it looked at me and growled... It's like I could already feel the teeth. Tobin just laughed! Can you believe it?"
Sacred farmers in a scary world with someone feeding the fears and connecting the dots for them. Della did so. Now we come to the crux of things. Nobody wants to own anything previously owned by a witch. Too many hexes and curses.
Even if they burned Daerdryn's house down, they can't really destroy the land. The children can't claim the land either. They're tainted in the view of the townsfolk, much like Elyana, Idana, and Olyena. Della would hire a "priest" to cleanse the place after buying it up cheap. Her family's holdings double overnight. All it cost was some paranoia and a family that Della didn't really care about in the first place.

Elyana |

"Ohhh, I don't like Della either sister. Can I send a zombie after here, or would that be a bad thing?" Elyana asked as she gives Olyenna a questioning look.

Idana, daughter of Winter |

"You know the rules, Elyana. No zombies inside village limits." Idana says, wearily. "You wait until she's outside in the fields, gathering herbs. THEN you send the zombie to pay her a visit."
Salsa, do you have a preferred format for the tag line under our names?

Olyenna |

"And if you do, try to get the zombie from outside the town. It would be wrong to disturb the graves of the good townsfolk." Olyenna adds. "This is one of those things we were talking about, sometimes a bad thing happening to a bad person can be good.....sort of."

Sigurd Warborn |

I generally use this set up for my taglines. Can be edited for relevant information and all that jazz. Feel free to steal it, I stole mine. :D

DM-Salsa |

I can see this is going to be an interesting group. If you can, please have your taglines set up as follows:
HP: xx/xx, NL: x | AC xx/xx/xx | F+x R +x W+x (save modifiers after the save) | Per: +x | Init: +x | ammunition, limited use abilities, or whatever else you would like to have here to keep track of.
The way Sigurd has done it is fine too, but I'd at least like HP, AC, Saves, Perception, and Init on there.
Other than that, I just ask that it's easy to read.
@Kierna: Elyana, Idana, and Olyena would probably be the closest fit to what you have. Again, entirely up to you, but it does mesh quite nicely.
So, if everyone's ready to go, I'll kick this off tomorrow night.

Sigurd Warborn |

Super excited! I've not roleplayed a personality like this in awhile. :D

F. Castor |

@Kierna: Elyana, Idana, and Olyena would probably be the closest fit to what you have. Again, entirely up to you, but it does mesh quite nicely.
Heh... Interestingly enough Sigurd, the sisters and Kieran all got arrested due to a tavern/inn/bar brawl gone wrong. Well sort of, as in Sigurd's case it all went down outside actually. What a bunch of troublemakers!
Sure, go ahead. Tying Kieran's and the sisters' stories and especially their reasons for being arrested should make things interesting.

Elyana |

"Alright, no zombies." Her face was kind of sad at the thought but she brightened up, "Maybe I'll send one of my special friends to torment her instead! Make them think the b$%!* is a witch!"
Yep, I agree Castor, go for it!

Idana, daughter of Winter |

"My sisters and I would be happy to help Kieran achieve his full potential. As for our brother, he stayed behind to care for our ailing father. We insisted. After all, the town only whispered about the three of us."

Olyenna |

"That would be rather poetic"
Yup that would work. "It was those witches, and the strange outsiders....that man fought armed guards without weapons.....must be some sort of demon bodyguard." - Drunken bystander

Sigurd Warborn |

-drinks mead, looks at the others, shakes head- "All of them...g~&!+*n witches. But they're my witches now."

"I'd watch your tongue, dear. Unless you want it frozen to a pole."

Sigurd Warborn |

Raises an eyebrow "I like your foreplay; aggressive and scary. You'd make fine wife to some of the men back at Smithhold. Now have a drink with me, all of you, for this is a hallucination and we're all being tortured by Imperials in reality!"

DM-Salsa |

So, I've got a list of hooks up in the campaign tab. If you don't mind, take a look and see if there's anything that would have caught your character's fancy that I didn't list.

Sigurd Warborn |

Same, let me know if anything is wrong or incorrect. :D

Olyenna |

I figure of the three of us though he loved us all equally, Olyenna's sort of the daddy's girl since she spent time with him training in weapons and armor. She wants to be like him. But she also has a dark violent streak that's from her mother.

Olyenna |

My suggestion for marching order, Sigurd, Olyenna (because dragonborn are always up in danger's face and Olyenna's the sheild for her sisters.), Casters in the middle in whichever order preferred, Kieran in the rear since he has the skills to get up front quickly if needed.
Any thoughts?

Sigurd Warborn |

That works for me too! I am good for that if people want.

![]() |

Daerdryn would sit best behind Olyenna. She can't help if she's too far away from the action. As both melee and ranged she makes a good second line. Being able to teleport and teleport others also a plus defensive position shifting for the casters.

Elyana |

I am enjoying the ball of craziness that is Elyana already. these spirits are fun.

Posting here because I don't want to clog the gameplay up too much. I totally agree, Sigurd would definitely be a metalhead. Now I'm working on making a metal playlist for when I am writing posts for the character. >.>

Hey there folks!
My girlfriend is coming up to visit me this Monday so I'll be online less for the next two weeks. I'll try to meet the "one post per day" as best as I can but feel free to bot Sigurd if I slow things down.

DM-Salsa |

That's fine. I'll bot Sigurd if needed.
Also, I'd like to apologize for dropping off the radar this weekend. Fatigue caught up to me and, yeah. I'm back though, so I'll have the promised loot up in a bit.

Olyenna |

Reposted here so it's easier to reference when choosing what to take.
On the soldiers you find (For each): so 6 of each
- 1 backpack
- 1 belt pouch
- 1 bedroll
- 1 flint and steel
- 1 mess kit
- 1 pot
- 50 ft. of rope
- 1 bar of soap
- 10 torches
- 5 days of rations
- 1 full waterskin
- 1 potion of Cure Light Wounds
- 1 gladius
- 1 heavy wooden shield
- 1 suit of studded leather armor
On the Lieutenant you find:
- 1 backpack
- 1 belt pouch
- 1 bedroll
- 1 flint and steel
- 1 mess kit
- 1 pot
- 50 ft. of rope
- 1 bar of soap
- 10 torches
- 5 days of rations
- 1 full waterskin
- 1 potion of Cure Light Wounds
- 1 longsword
- 1 heavy wooden shield
- 1 masterwork chain shirt
I’ll definitely take a second gladius, 3 waterskins (one for each sister), 1 backpack, 1 belt pouch , 1 potion CLW, soap.
Are Sigurd,Daerdryn and I the only ones who wear armor? I think so. If so I'd upgrade to the Chain shirt. I think Daerdryn already has one and Sigurd has full chainmail.
I recommend each person carry a potion so we can heal in a pinch. Sigurd can carry the extra one, he probably needs them the most.

DM-Salsa |

PC wise? I think so for the moment. Kieran has monk abilities, armor would interfere with Elyana's spellcasting, and Idana can't wear metal armor.
Just as a reminder, there were six soldiers that you downed.

Sigurd Warborn |

Sigurd is a heavy armor user. My hope is to go and get my hands on some delicious full-plate at some point.
I'll happily take two potions for that exact reason, Sigurd will be the one getting hurt frequently.
Sigurd will be taking a belt pouch, a bedroll, one full waterskin, a flint and steel, two things of rope, and five torches.
I'll be going through his encumbrance soon and get that all figured out. He'll be carrying a lot but he is a big, strong man :D

DM-Salsa |

I'm actually surprised that no one stocked up on the masterwork weapons and armor to sell in the supply room. I was half expecting you to.

Sigurd Warborn |

Indeed but that felt a little...abusive. Sigurd just wants to escape.

F. Castor |

Let me see here...
A belt pouch, a flint and steel, a mess kit, a rope, a soap and a potion of cure light wounds. He will also take a full waterskin or fill his own empty one.
And I kinda agree with Sigurd. The priority being to escape it would be... weird to start lugging about lots of weapons and armor. :-)

Olyenna |

In game we have no reason to believe we'll be in a position to sell things anytime soon.
And will add a flint and steel, 3 mess kits and take 2 backpacks
Oh and going to take the Chain shirt in that case.

DM-Salsa |

Sorry for the delay in getting this round wrapped up. This weekend I've been recharging some, so hopefully, I should be ready to go and we can continue this fight.
Also made more sense in my head for them to form up before attacking en masse rather than getting beat in detail.

DM-Salsa |

Understood, things are going to be getting busier for me as well.
On another note, I wanted to ask if anyone wanted to change things to try speeding them up. It may just be me, but this combat feels like it's bogging down a little, and this isn't going to be the last time you have a bunch of enemies to face. Specifically, I was thinking about having the Fat Aristocrat (who I haven't named) and Thol go after Sigurd, Olyena, and Elyana so that all of you can go at the same time.
