Played and am running Skull & Shackles, so I've looked into water combat, do ho ho. A few important notes missed (unless I missed them);
5-ft isn't possible without a swim speed since any Swim check is either done at 1/4th or 1/2 speed, and a reduction in speed prevents 5-ft steps. (At least, last time I researched it, that's how it worked.) Also, any non-piercing damage is automatically halved and takes a -2 to the attack roll (barring freedom of movement.) Citation Underwater Combat, Core Rulebook.
Turg will attempt to not sink! Swim): 1d20 ⇒ 7 Turg blubbers in the water, but fortunately didn't fail by 5 or more! She yells out in Undercommon to "kill this thing twice over," though the mites look to each other and shrug! They jump in!
Swims: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 41d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
One begins to sink (as depicted by being turned sideways), though the other one leaps off his fat head into threatening range! Moved pieces my self; actually at a computer for once! The one that doesn't sink gives a poke with the pointy end of the dagger! Stab (piercing): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 111d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
DM Rah |
To those in the water: The water areas of the chamber are not pools, but completely filled - any area off the path is underwater. Spellcasting can still be done with a concentration check, but any speech will sound like muffled babbling to those not native to such conditions. I will assume Turg's mites have standing orders to defend her, so her current situation is unaffected.
Maddie Sykes |
Thanks.
Swim to maintain balance in water: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17
Literally out of her element, Maddie begins to cast a spell before realizing these creatures were probably immune. With two of them staring her down and most of her weapons useless in the water, she opts to place herself in a complete defensive posture.
Taking Total Defense Action. AC is 24 until her next turn.
DM Rah |
Maddie concentrates on avoiding injury.
Pai flings magic missiles into the water, injuring one of the adaros.
Turg makes bubbles and flails in the water and her loyal mites jump in to rescue her. One spins uselessly in the water, and though the other thrusts with a dagger, it gets nowhere near the native aquatic adaro.
Electric Barlor-eel bites and zaps one of them on the other side of the tunnel while Ing thrusts through side of the tunnel and gores another, sending blood swirling in the water.
Ayaki and László are up!

Guessing that Turg's doing the same thing as before, so moving on.
Barlor bites the adaro facing him, then Pai blasts it into unconsciousness with magic missiles.
Maddie casts guidance on Ayaki, who then steps in the water again and swings his morningstar, but misses.

She then moves to the edge of the water and examines the barrier keeping the water from flowing naturally, "Another impressive bit of magic, Athemon must have been quite powerful."
Ayaki |
Ayaki thinks for a moment,
"Barlor you were EEL-lectrifying."
He laughs at his own joke, hoping that his jest in this foreign tongue made at least some sense to the others.
Turg |
Turg, now with the ability to focus, makes her way back to the shoreline. After she hacks up some water, "Thus Anathamon, whoever he is, is a jerk. Who raises shark people to attack everyone that comes into a room?" She wrings out her grassy-coloured hair, as she adresses the mite (and whomever else speaks Undercommon.
"You did good enough."
I also figure 6 minutes is coming up soon. If not, she'll keep the mite around until he goes poof. If the point is passing and terrain is pretty land-based, feel free to drop another 1d4+1 augmented mites.
DM Rah |
Turg, I think that summoning is about done. Go ahead and roll another if you like.
Barlor swims about, exploring the chamber. He doesn't find anything of value, but he does notice a giant sea anemone lurking on the coral hills. When one of the adaro bodies floats by it reaches out and pulls it in for a meal.
The anemone can be easily avoided.
Barlor |
Barlor swims back into the tunnel (after collecting any gear the adaros may have had) and transforms back into a dwarf.
"What, nobody wanted to swim with me? 'Cept for this Turd fella an' his mites, thrashing all around like a turtle on his back. Liked watchin' that." Barlor says with a chuckle.
Turg |
Turg squints at the dwarf, "Hmm, so you're actually a gross snake that simply hides in the shell of a smelly, short stump of a man. That explains how you're so blind to how dumb you sound..."
Will hold off summoning for now to see terrain.
Pai Kromnite PFS |
"Maddie's right. We've got plenty of exploring left to do. We can drink and fight later. And then apologize and drink some more," she smiles, trying to make sure the group stayed together.
