Robin, your call but selling the mask in effect removes half its value from the party AND from your gear value. That is at least one way to look at it.

Hey, did we ever figure out if the mithral armor is resizable? Now that Adolina has a cloak of elvenkind, does she want that armor?

It wasn't the stealth mod that worried me - it was the dex cap at +6. Basically Adolina (after shopping) will have +6 dex and I'd want to get to at least +8 - if I could get Celestial Armour made of mithril then I'd be going to for it! :)

About to spend my money. Are we all good with chipping in for a new wand of Cure Light? It comes to 188 gp each if we split it 4 ways and 150 gp if we split it 5 ways. Any other party resources we should pick up?
Great job on keeping up with loot Adloina, by the way. Its appreciated. One thought I had was to set aside funds for party items like the wand. We could set aside a half share or a quarter share for such. Thoughts?
Cadas is likely going to upgrade her headband from Inspired Wisdom (+2 Wisdom) to Mental Prowess (+2 Chr and Wis). She needs the charisma for a number of things including more channels and the ability to exclude more bad guys from healing and good guys from negative channels.

Given the level of the party and what monsters we tend to face at these levels, wands or potions of Lesser Restoration, Silence and Invisibility can come in extraordinarily useful.
That is merely an idea!

Another way of doing it would be to set up a list of items the party wants, prioritise them and then assume we spend enough gold to buy the top 1-2 each time. I'm certainly happy to chip in my share of gold for a new wand.
If we'd all like to put funds aside either a half share or a flat percentage? Say 5-10%?

Another CLW wand is fine. Robin has one in hand as well, along with the CMW wand, but it's good to have another ready to go!
I think Adolina's suggestion is preferable - focus on what we want to buy for the party and then buy it.
Wands with 2nd level spells are very pricey at this level, unless we get some with partial charges. I would support a Wand of Lesser Restoration with partial charges. If you want to go cheap, we could buy a Paladin version for a mere 750 gp, and Robin can try his luck making it work (UMD +8 modifier).

Robin the Jester |
I just deducted 150 GP for another CLW wand per Cadas's suggestion. I added the Medusa's Mask to my inventory, and added the gold from Xanexha and the mayor. I then spent 8k on a Cloak of Resistance +2 and a Jester's Cap of Alluring Charisma +2. I did not claim the +1 Mithral Chain Shirt on the assumption that it cannot be re-sized for me; someone else can take if desired.

Marcellano Gallenica |

Hoooo yeah, I gotta figure out what I'm buying! It looks like we should each get 15,068.28, counting the mayor's bounty?
A headband is probably in order for Marcy...

Cadas is ready to head out. She can do no crafting but will be casting some divination magic while on the ferry. I'd appreciate any help with what to ask about.

Wasn't it a sister? I seem to remember the name being Lucrezia...
Finding out about the location of/what happened to Fort Rannick would be good too.
Water is the quickest way to travel I think - which means cheaper!
Adolina is ready btw. :)

Without even checking I know there is Augury (Short Term - Immediate Futyre) and Divination (longer term - within 1 week). That is likely it. Commune is not available to Cadas until level 9.
Divination:
Similar to augury but more powerful, a divination spell can provide you with a useful piece of advice in reply to a question concerning a specific goal, event, or activity that is to occur within 1 week. The advice granted by the spell can be as simple as a short phrase, or it might take the form of a cryptic rhyme or omen. If your party doesn't act on the information, the conditions may change so that the information is no longer useful. The base chance for a correct divination is 70% + 1% per caster level, to a maximum of 90%. If the die roll fails, you know the spell failed, unless specific magic yielding false information is at work.
As with augury, multiple divinations about the same topic by the same caster use the same dice result as the first divination spell and yield the same answer each time.
So maybe cast once a day. Start asking about danger on the trip? Heck maybe first questions are about choice of transport. As we got closer we start asking about threats to Turtleback Ferry or from Turtleback Ferry to us. Then about the fort. Just thinking out loud.

Typical adventurers, really: spend thousands and thousands of gold pieces on magical trinkets, proceed to aggressively haggle over a 50-gp week-long boat fare. :P

But for the items we get value - and its in the book. This is clearly a GM fiat thing, so we can haggle him down! :D Besides, Adolina would just pay up. :)

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
In a sense, we kind of owe these sailors the gold given that we're about to interrupt their peaceful lives with numerous level-appropriate random encounters!

Actually, the price is in the book. Page 131 of 434 in the Anniversary Edition PDF. heh....

What are the rules as using sailors as impromptu tower shields?
Asking for a friend >.>
That would depend on whether the sailor resists, or is dead already, and how strong the person is.... snicker

Our dog, Amarillo, crossed the Rainbow Bridge this weekend, and my wife and I are still grieving. I'll have something out tomorrow.
Picture On the left is Mercer Man, her rough and tumble playmate who crossed a little over a year ago, and on the right, Amarillo. The cancer she had a year ago, came back with a vengeance.

So tomorrow I leave for a week + of skiing. Its quite a bit of traveling and my days will be pretty filled. I hope to have internet but am not sure about quality or time availability. I'll post as time allows but please do not wait on me. I'll be back home on Sunday the 19th.

DM Papa.DRB |

Sorry. I missed the last step on the stairs from the 2nd level to the 1st floor and fell Thursday morning. Put my elbow thru the wall (nice hole), thankfully missing the studs, but wrenched my back badly. Other than a few minutes sitting, I have spent the time l laying down. Feel much better today and am getting caught up on my PbP.

Cadas |

Internet is down at my house. Yard work cut cable in 4 places Thursday. Not fixed yet. Sorry for my lack of posting. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow.

New York City wasn't actually hit quite so badly--we've got plenty of snow (and it's very icy), but it looks like things are worse north where you are, David! Didn't realize we were so close--I'm in the city itself.
