TBH, my bias would be against anything "super" longterm.
A level of Emerald Spire is about the length of a standard scenario. When I played the first 3 levels in person, we averaged about 2-3 hours per level.
I'm in for 1 level up to 3 levels based on demand from players... with a maybe possibility for 1-2 more beyond that.

I'm in for the long-haul, DM. You lead, I will follow. I'd like to keep playing Johann, my paladin from slave pits core. But will I need to wait until we're done with Silverhex Chronicles?

![]() |

This is chadius. We played Slave Pits of Absalom with my Core Cleric.
I can continue playing with my level 1 cleric once her current game is over.
I also have an idea for an archer character who thinks she's a Medusa.
Either way, I'm in.
PS Never played Emerald Spire.

Signboy77 |

I may start an all-new character. I actually just joined up another group starting in Level 5 of Emerald Spire, but I know nothing of the module other than what we've done so far.
I may want to try a cleric of Calistria.

DM Panic |

The Core Silverhex game should be done in about a week or so, so if your credit was going to a PC you wanted to play here, then the timing should work out - my goal was to start this after that game wraps up.
If you're in, go ahead and start sorting out PC selection or creation. You can probably play this OK with a full group of wizards or a full group of barbarians, so I'll leave it to you all to make your selections.

This character will primarily be a Monk, but due to the feats I need she will start as a Fighter. If we reach level 4 she will take 1 level of Cleric, but that's a long way away.
She will be an archer, shooting things with her pew pew lazer- uh, arrows.

I was thinking of trying a fighter/sorcerer - sort of a man slowly turning beast, but I haven't heard anyone say anything about a rogue type yet, so a trap expert of some sort might be good too.
I have no prior knowledge of Emerald Spire, other than hearing it referred to as a "super-dungeon". Sounds like fun!
Otherwise, I would play Dupine, but I thing I prefer to keep him to more urban/mystery scenarios.

I made a PFS Standard version of this - The Maiden of Gold - as a Rogue. I eventually realized she's more of a Zen Archer Monk, and rebuilt her in Core.
Otherwise, I would play Dupine, but I thing I prefer to keep him to more urban/mystery scenarios.
Evarice Bue is basically a Private Eye, so I wouldn't use her in a dungeon crawl.

![]() |

Alright, Signboy here. I think I'll stick with Johann the paladin. He's a basic sword 'n' board paladin - nothing real fancy. I've never played one before
And yeah, better to keep M Dupine over on the Rue Morgue. :-)

![]() |

Pirate Rob here.
I think I'll also bring my paladin, Tog 2.0
Tog died after WoundedWisp/Thornkeep but I liked him enough to make him again. Tog 2.0 has completed The Confirmation, and with credit from Panic's Silverhex he'll be ready to charge into danger in Emerald Spire.
As a note I have both played and GMed the first 3 levels of Emerald Spire (non-core)

Should we all be paladins? I thought about creating a gnome paladin...
Hey! I'm a burg- uh, liberator.
"5 Paladins and a Thief" now there's a sitcom.

![]() |

Well, I now have it down to 2 concepts.
A. Gnome barbarian who will eventually discover he has dragon blood (sorcerer at lev 3) and learn to embrace it (dragon disciple at lvl 6 plus). I picture a little angry dude with a monster keeping him at bay by putting a hand on his forehead while the little dude yells "Come here! I'll bite your kneecaps off!" (Hopefully a little more effective, though).
B. Halfling rogue/ranger with eventual dips into Shadow Dancer. Primarily will be a scout and trap troubleshooter. Conbat will be basically double dagger sneak attacks, since he won't be doing a lot of damage as a small, weakling.
Anyone have suggestions or concerns? I will probably flesh out both anyway, but if we already have a "liberator", I will likely lean towards the gnome.

DM Panic |

Here's summing up where we stand. There's 5 folks checked in, which is my ideal table size (versus going to 6).
Signboy: Johann, human paladin 1
PirateRob: Tog, half-orc paladin 2
chadius: Maiden of Copper, human fighter 1 (archer)
-
PJP: contemplating gnome barbarian or halfling rogue/ranger
Rah: contemplating elf ranger or halfling cleric
I don't want to influence PCs too much, but I'm a big fan of small PCs. :)
I'd probably recommend the halfling cleric for Rah just so you have at least one full spellcaster along for the ride. And probably the rogue/ranger so you have one skill-monkey along.

DM Panic |

On a separate note, I believe there's at least 1 or 2 of you waiting for the Silverhex game to finish, since credit for that and Spire would go to the same PFS #.
I'll likely start up a gameplay thread this weekend just so you can all chat in character and sort out introductions.
I imagine as long as we don't begin the actual scenario, we can avoid the PFS # conflict of two PbP games at one time.

![]() |

Sold - I will flesh out the halfling rogue, and save the mini-ferocious-dragon til another day. :)

![]() |

A very petite halfling lass comes twirling in wearing colorful scarves over a dark outfit.
"Ho, gents. I hear you may be needin' someone with some skills, and I have em. Just let me know when you are ready to wander."
This wasn't where I thought I was going with this character. I started with an nerdy engineer, but somehow it became a gypsy girl...

DM Panic |

First few gameplay posts are up. Feel free to check in and introduce your PCs in character and sort out how the team will function.
I won't begin the Spire properly until everyone is free of any PFS games. I suspect that'll just be a couple days this week and we'll sink our teeth into Spire on Thursday.

![]() |

I'll be visiting my in-laws from 6/3 to 6/8. I'll post if the hotel's Wi Fi is good, but otherwise feel free to bot me.

DM Panic |

We're very close to the end of the first level.
I'll need your PFS IDs, Factions and Day Job rolls to put together chronicles for the first level. Hopefully nobody dies between this request and the official end. :)
Remember this chronicle was good for a full 3XP which is a full level for your Core character!
Also, let me know the seniment on continuing with the second level - I know it was mixed earlier if we'd do a one-and-done or do three-and-done.

Tog
15001-30
Dark Archive
No Day Job.
I think I'm enjoying Tog's personality too much to stick him into the Emerald Spire forever. That said I've got a couple other characters I could bring as well if people want to continue.

![]() |

PFS: 133608-4
Faction: The Exchange
Day Job: Profession(Burglar): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
The Maiden will continue to the 2nd level. It's a good break for her.
I'll probably rebuild her before we go to level 2 (tweak her strength, mainly so I can get composite bows.)
Then it's 1 Fighter / 1 Monk time! Woo!

![]() |

Zora is in for the next.
#150786-13
member of Liberty’s Edge
Day job: Dancer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

DM Panic |

There's 3 definites for continuing to level 2 (Sigil, Maiden, Zora). Tog seems likely to acquiesce to group will.
Johann needs to check in, but regardless we could continue with 4 (it's written for 4).
The chronicle for level 1 is 1398gp if you want to start working on leveling and spending your newfound money.
Also of note is this partially charged wand:
wand of cure light wounds (20 charges; 300 gp, limit 1)
You're done after this chat with Grulk that doesn't seem like it will turn bloody at this point.

![]() |

Sorry. Turns out the cable/internet has been a wreck for the whole neighborhood. I think things have been fixed.
I'll put up a post in the gameplay and will happily continue onward in the Emerald Spire.
Again, sorry for my spotty posting - but now that I seem to have a reliable connection now, you can count on me for at least 1 post a day.
Edit:
PFS - 64554-13
No Day Job
Silver Crusade

![]() |

Oops. That was the wrong character, the Maiden of Gold.
The Maiden of Copper's PFS # is 133608-10

![]() |

Okay, Johann is leveled up. GM - I'm going to be using the "Land Rush" option in the chronicles. I've already subtracted the prestige on my character page for the purchase. Just letting you know so we can track it.
Thanks.

![]() |

I already had 1 xp, but I am assuming it doesn't matter, right? I will work on leveling up asap.
Could anyone explain the land rush thing? I have never heard of owning land. (Zora, being a gypsy, probably isn't interested anyway, but I am curious).

Pirate Rob |

Quick Land Rush summary:
Everytime you complete an Emerald Spire level you can buy land in the surrounding area.
Page one (below) has instructions for how the Land Rush workds and the very last page of this is the Land Rush chronicle sheet. (Recommend not reading other chronicle sheets to avoid spoilers)
