I don't have any problem with Sko swimming around in shark form.
Horatio Flynn
Sorry for the dealy, I didn't have the time at work to post. I think some of the tunnels will be too shallow for me to take shark form. And once I leave shark form I can't use it again until the next day. If Variel is next to me I can cast Guidance on him to boost his Perception since he has low-light. It only lasts a minute or until used but I can cast it as many times as needed. Also, I'm assuming that Woodland Stride will allow me to ignore the difficult terrain from the seaweed. If that's not correct, let me know.
Hmm...
Grindy's go into the water... Sko goes into the water... Shark's the water... Our shark!
Horatio Flynn
"Hey - maybe it'd be a good time to pass out those potions now... Make sure we all got one, and we're all able to use one, in a pinch. Also - try not to use all of them - we may need 'em to help our mates - when we find them."
Dhaavan
"I got my Moderate potions, and some Light Cure Potions of my own, but I'll take another and make sure to fix up anyone what goes under if yea gimme another potion." Dhaavan offers
Assuming sho tells us about his limits in character, "Well, if yea only got one time yea got magic enough ta do it once and can't cast nothin while yer a shark, how's about you take care o healing till you spent some o' yer healing at least. Then yea take point as a beast and we'll keep yea in good health."
"Jiro, since yea fight better when yer gangin' up on folks, yea can focus on keepin yer back to the wall, and I'll take care o' yer flanking buddies, summoning beasties behind whatever yea point out ta me?"
Dhaavan
Maybe Flynn'd do well with the bow, since Rain has a reach weapon and we are in close quarters. Pluss it gives him an under-water range option when he can't use his gun. While we're walking in the shallows, he can pull out his gun, and sword, and while we're swimming, he holsters it and can draw the bow.

If Sko is willing then I agree with Dhaavan suggestion. Variel will definitely take a guidance whenever he can get it from Sko. Ready to go whenever.
If I am to help lead from here on out, someone take this bow. It might serve them ll. I only have eighteen arrows left just as a warning. Whoever can make use of it here. Also, in case we are out of the water, I still have the alchemist fires in my back. Well Sko, should we go on?
Variel will cast light on someone's weapon in the second rank. Also if Sko gives Variel a guidance he will he that as they get closer to see what is in the cavern.
Perception 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 1 = 15
Horatio Flynn
I'll happily take both the bow, and the arrows. Questions: So what now is the marching order formally? Also - who specifically has what potions? The GM indicated this fight would be ugly - I'd just assume have all our ducks in a row if we go into a slugfest, rather than asking later. While we're at it - again, taking the GM's advice - what's the straight word on the other items - the alchemist fire is good times - but what about the invisibility potions - and anything like that? Formally - I have no potions. It would be good to have at least one, healing potion, if not more. As I have the bow - I'll swap in an Alchemical Cartridge into my pistol. Meanwhile - does anyone mind if I have one of the "masterwork" daggers? Please let me know; thank you.
I'm not planing on keeping the masterwork dagger - but it could be handy in a fight. For now, I'll keep the bow on my back, sword out - and pistol at ready, though not drawn. The sword glows - so there should be some ambient light from it.
Rain Taneththir
When Rain was given the bag of potions from Captain Harrigan she handed them out to those who asked: 1 potion of invisibility and 1 CMW potion to Jiro, 2 potions of invisibility to Dhaavan, 1 CMW potion each to Flynn, Variel and Rain kept one for herself. We discovered another CMW potion back at the stockade so there is a spare which is in the haversack.
Rain has no problem with Flynn using the masterwork dagger found in the stockade recently. Unless he has another masterwork one he is referencing ... still the same: no objection from Rain.
DM Immortal
Whenever you all want to head out let me know. Also let me know which direction you are going.
Horatio Flynn
Okay - I got my Cure Moderate Potion, Masterwork Dagger, bow, sword, gun - and whole lot of "come get some"...
I'm ready; just say when.
Meantime, who's got that con? Which way are we going? First intersection we can go North East, South East or South West.
That said, is Variel back with me, or forward?
Anybody need being NPC'd? And if so - who's doing it?
Rain Taneththir
Variel is upfront with Sko. Behind them Rain and Jiro, Dhaavan and then Valeros and Flynn. So Sko probably has the con.
Maybe Valeros will need to be NPC'd? I'm not sure though as he hasn't posted today.
Rain Taneththir
Okay, so Rain has the magical pike, cutlass at her side, Cure Moderate Wounds potion, switchblade in her boot and a whole lot of justice brewing in her turquoise eyes .... lol
I unfortunately will not be on the boards again until my time tonight.
Horatio Flynn
Cool - yeah; I meant Valeros. I don't how long it will be before you get back on in hard time - if you need to be NPC'd - who do you want to do that? And - as you're officially the leader of this crew - which direction do we take?
Yeah - so they had a Walking Dead marathon on for the past couple of days - I've been channeling my favorite character from that show in Flynn since the day we met the first undead.
As you already know who my favorite character from the show is - how do you think that's working? :)
Seijiro
sorry - was at a board meeting again tonight and couldn't post. Being in second rank is fine with Seijiro
Rain Taneththir

Rain may be the official leader of the group as a whole but in this "quest", Sko is lead and it is his sight and order that must be given and followed. From Rain's position in second row it doesn't make much sense that she should be giving directions etc ... as her line of sight is obscured by those in front of her.
In relation to Rain being NPC'd, the GM confirmed that not much action will happen this weekend and will resume your Sunday (my Monday), so I will be able to post for my character. Thanks.

The cave is damp, and a chill air is around me, rising from the water and the force of wind that echoes in the cave mouth.
Our friends may already be dead; they may even now be tortured or abused – only the gods know.
Although Sko is the group’s advance scout – I do not see or hear any reaction from him; but it seems clear in our movement that the tunnel we have made our way through spreads into a wide area. It seems that the tunnel veers sharply to the left, and also to the right… but on the left side it looks like it branches out in two different directions.
With three ways to advance, and the possibility that our friends may even now be suffering, I am eager to press on.
However, it seems we have halted.
As Sko seems undecided, I presume that whoever is behind Sko would take a moment to check for any danger; and – if there was nothing to help or hinder our advances and nothing to aid or nothing to direct us to a particular course of action – someone could at least order some action.
Bloody hell!
As I have had received no specific directions in which way to proceed, I will at least take this moment to look around, and listen to hear if there are any threats.
Perception
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
With whatever information I have received – I will then simply wait for someone to let me know what to do.
Rain Taneththir
Even from her position behind the main group, and while waiting to hear from Sko or Variel, Rain attempts to determine the best/most feasible route to take in the cove, seeking any evidence, markings etc made by the Grindylow. She would not see her party take a wrong turn and be further endangered. Gozreh and Besmara, hear me and aid me in this task.
Perception to determine possible threats/dangers: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Dhaavan
Dhaavan's got 2 invisibility potions (will give one away to whoever wants it) 1 CMW, and purchased 2 CLW's. He's got a MWK dagger and a common dagger in his wrist sheaths, and access to the denizens of hell itself! cause apparelty there's dolphins in hell...
Once again, confused by Flynn's apparent impatiencs, Dhaavan suggests, "Since we in a cave system, lets do it orderly? This old spelunker I caravan-ed with, I mean dwarf, what talked bout keepin a wall to yer left, or something like that. So why don't we start on the left path, head up that way to start? Then we make our way round the place all methodical like, yeah?"
Dhaavan's Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11-2=9(without Jack)
Jack's Percpetion: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20-2=18(if he's up front) Jack sticks with DHaavan keeping his eyes up front and behind for ambush. but depending on penalties he'd be up front, if Rain wants. otherwise he's with Dhaavan in the third row.
Dhaavan suggests that we go into the cave as opposed to out to sea, and then head up the north to the first cavern. but don't want things to progress too far without the others having a chance to see what's up. How bout a checkin on the discussion board at least?
Horatio Flynn
"Quiet lad," I mutter to Dhaavan "Don't want to be giving away our position... noise may echo in a cave," I add.
I knew the trick about keeping a wall under your hand, only my day it was the wall to our right - but I also knew about keeping a piece of chalk to mark it with - in case you slipped away from the wall...
In any case, I still wait - curious to hear some sort of order to at least advance or move. Wondering when that would happen.
Wasn't saying we go out to sea, Dhaavan - but at the first intersection, if you go "straight south" there is a rock divide; so going "Straight South" really means you go "slightly southeast" or "slightly southwest". That's all :) But in any case - until we actually advance at all; there won't be much to do. I'll toss something on the discussion thread for you, too.
Dhaavan
My bad, I didn't see that anybody had suggested any direction to go, hence my suggesting a direction.
GM, that side pass around the perimeter of the cave, are we able to go along that, or is it too small to fit the party? not that we know where it leads, but it could be a direction that we'd think to travel, depending.
Ret-con
quietly, and somewhat sheepishly, DHaavan asks Variel, "Oye mate, Yea mind if maybe hold on to some Alchemist's fire? See I figure I best keep a few of my spells on reserve, and while i can use a dagger, I can't fdo much. So while yer cuttin stuff up, i can toss the fire at a body what we aren't closed with so as i can help out when I'm not casting anythin, right?"
Jsut trying to give DHaavan a couple options for damage so he doesn't burn through his summoning, and is able to contribute to damage while the rest of the party attacks, since they can attack, and Dhaavan can't very well.

Sure thing Dhaavan and I think there was some found with the ghouls as well. Those might be in Jiro's pack. I think there should be enough for Everyone to have at least one from those and you can grab a couple of mine as well. I am surprised at you though, I figured you would have a spell or two for such circumstances ready for repeat castings. Anyways, if we get into a real bind, here is my scroll case. Feel free to pop the top and use either scroll in there. I was hopping to add them to my book later if I ever had the time or materials, but use them if you need to. There is a scroll of magic missile and scorching ray.
Dhaavan
"It's less that I'm worried about not having summat what I can cast, but more that I only got so much magic. I don't want to go burning all my power and have nothin left when I really need it. SO bein able to toss some fire'll gimme somethin' what can help without leavin me out o' summons too soon." Dhaavan whispers as he accepts the viles, and pulls some out of Jiro's Pack.
Edit: Dhaavan takes 3 Alchemist's fires, since he has no real options other than spells, although touch of fatigue will be useful, needs some way to do damage and has no good ranged or melee options.

"Fair enough, lad - fair enough..." I say with a nod.
"Maybe then the best thing is to hold off on the casting - until we have some room... play it conservative, eh? We see a few of these scum in here, give us a few seconds before you call up the big guns, as it were - if we can handle it with ease - well; you don't want to waste it if you don't need to," I add.
Quick question - are we holding off formally until this Sunday? I'm not too certain on what's going on, but if that's the plan, it's cool. I just wanted to know either way. Thank you.
DM Immortal
Short answer, yes we are holding off till sunday as I have a lot going on this weekend. Long answer...yes we are holding off till sunday as I have a lot going on this weekend.
Valeros Jaloksin
Valeros follows amidst the group. The pulsing waves of water beating against his legs were almost in time with the beat of his heart. He could feel the strength of the waves pulsing through him. He watched as some of the others struggled in the water and helped Dhavaan keep his feat more than a couple of times.
Sorry for the delay, new promotion at work is really kicking my ass. Trying to keep up as I can.
Will cast Light on whatever is needed for someone to carry, or a piece of string or something to tie off.
Variel Nightstorm

Vriel will get two of the alchemist firs from his pack to hand to Dhaavan. That combined with the one from the group that was found earlier should be sufficient for this first cave. Preparing to head further into the cave system with Sko, Variel makes sure that his gear is all set and ready. Spells ready and blade sharp nothing more is needed but contact with the Grindylows and to rescue his fellow shipmates.
Horatio Flynn
I decided to post something on the discussion thread; as we have had no social RP all weekend, and there is a battle coming. Anyway - it's there; specifically continuing the conversation with Variel earlier about the method of payment for a crew; as well as what we do next.
Horatio Flynn
Do you mean the social rp thread?
I do indeed. Sorry, I meant that thread, not the formal "discussion thread". It should be there, if it wasn't posted correctly, please let me know.
DM Immortal
Ok so the last thing I saw as far as direction was you were heading to the northernmost passage keeping a wall to your left as it were. I am going based on that assumption. Also, yes those small tunnels working their way around are 5' wide tunnels.
As you make your way north out of the section you are in the cave branches again. To the left the tunnel continues but straight ahead it widens into a larger chamber. The waters look deeper and you suspect you might have to swim were you to enter. As you walk through the tunnels you begin to snag and pull on the seaweed and looking closer you see that hundred of tiny bone hooks have been laced through the seaweed and catch and snag on any clothing that passes near them. The cavern itself is different than the unworked tunnels. It looks as if it has been carved to resemble the interior of some great sea creature. You can see the stone has been carved into giant rib bones that arc over and around the chamber. You see occasional flashes of movement in the water and a flash of tentacle that disappears into the tunnel exiting opposite.
Horatio Flynn
Snakes... why did it have to be snakes?
Oh wait! That's actually a tentacle, not a snake! Wow - what a relief...
I'm waiting for orders from the boss. Meantime - I guess I'll toss a perception check - but then it's off to work.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
I'll quietly relay what I notice, if anything, to the group.
Seijiro
Seijiro walks along trudging through seawater, fighting the seaweed but pauses to gaze in wonder about the carved chamber. When he spots tentacles disappearing under the water, he drops his head below the surface for a moment, opening his eyes to try to see what is below the surface.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Unable to catch sight of anything, he pops back up above the surface and shakes the water out of his hair.
Dhaavan
Whispering, "Well, it's either left into the bottleneck, or right into the deeper water. Anyone see anything down those directions? Jack?" Dhaavan will move closer to the fork in the cave, and he and Jack look down the twisting tunnel and into the cave, Jack more accustomed the lighting while jack squints into the darkness, they try to see any signs of movement in the deep after that tentacle passes from view.
Dhaavan's Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Jack's Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
Something went that-a-way" Dhaavan hisses. "Do we follow it, go around?"
Just want to see if there's any more information to be gleaned, then we gotta pick the bottleneck and the deep. Dhaavan supports keeping eft at least to see where it goes.
DM Immortal
You don't see anything else as far as movement. Jack spots what looks like a hammerhead skull with a small thin piece of driftwood through it along the wall of the cavern.
Dhaavan
"That's worrysome. Putting a stick through a shark's head like that... Hope it was dead when they did it, cause otherwise Grindy ain't sommat to take light,"
If its close, Dhaavan wants so examine it, "Jiro, Rain, that's notable lookin, some kind of trap or just decoration? ya think they killed a hammerhead like that?"
In Infernal Dhaavan directs jack to get a better look at the shark head. either it's a trap or a cool artistic item, both of which are of interest to Dhaavan.
Jack's percpetion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Anything special about it?
Variel Nightstorm

Left or straight matters naught to me. As long as we all know where each is going I am fine with Sko going forward a bit while I look into the bottleneck. Not that we need to go any further than that but just to took at what is presented before us. Then once the look is done, head to the option that looks more promising.
Variel will refresh the light on the pike just to make sure it is up for longer. Once that is done, he will examine he bottleneck but stay within very close proximity to the others.
Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Stealth 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Swim if needed total of twenty
DM Immortal
The driftwood looks smooth as if it was polished a bit before being thrust through the eye sockets. The skull is scrimshaw carved and looks very ornate. Below it Jack spots a gold capped ivory tusk that looks like it probably came from a walrus and a small travel sized harp with broken strings that looks like it was made from the jaw of an orca. It is also very ornately carved. Both of these items look like they are not of Grindylow make.

Assuming Jack relay's that information...
As I wait for the advance scouts to determine our next course, and hearing Jack's determination, I absently cast "Detect Magic" in a broad wave in front of us; curious to know if the item is magical.
If Jack does not inform me of what he found - I will merely hold action until things develop.

Seijiro wades over and tries to ensure that the skull and the other items near it do not constitute some kind of trap.

"Jiro, if it ain't a trap, why dontcha toss that inta the bag as we move."
which way, left or right? bottleneck or deep water?
1 for bottelneck, we can always retreat into the deep or fork.

Keep to the left and the bottleneck to explore then untl Sko chimes in as that is our plan so far?
