Nowzai sighs and watches the portal anxiously as he casts a couple of preparatory spells.

Magic Circle vs Evil, followed by another SM3 for a fresh archon.

Sea Mother's Shrine Round 15

Init: Sam, Portal, D, M2, Nemoris, Magma, Nowzai, Epik, Dalamus

The portal bulges in the middle of the black disc just for a moment as it continues to spin and pulse with an eerie purplish light. Nowzai casts magic circle vs evil. Other party members may want to read this spell.

Epik and Dalamus:

Dalamus attack from earlier doesn't penetrate the priest's armor

The priest delays from the end of last round and then croaks once. The cowering dwarf in the corner of the room gets a sly smile and then jumps forward, closing the door, and locking it with a key.

The priest steps to the north of Dalamus and casts a spell, drawing an attack from the rogue that again deflects off his armor.

He raises his arms suddenly at the end of the spell and the water in the floor of the room rapidly rises filling it to the brim. All four of you are now completely underwater and holding your breath.

Underwater Combat rules here; be sure to make a swim check every round.

Swim and holding breath

Sea Mother's Shrine Round 16

Init: Sam, Portal, D, M2, Nemoris, Magma, Nowzai, Epik, Dalamus

Nowzai summons another archon.

The bulge in the portal extends further out and lengthens to about 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide. A thin layer of water washes out slowly from behind the statue, source unknown, and begins to pour down the stairs.

Epik and Dalamus:
Epik flounders in the water not being able to move but Dalamus is able to make it to the door and begins working on the lock. The thick water delays him, but he senses success (Will take 2 rounds instead of 1)

The priest grabs reaches out and pulls a strange spear-like weapon off the wall. He raises his arms in the air and a pulse of dark energy washes out from him, sapping the
life from the two heroes.

Unholy Blight: 4d8 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 3) = 16 evil damage + Sickened for: 1d4 ⇒ 3Rounds; Will Save DC22 for 1/2 damage no sickness.

The little dwarf pulls a dagger and stabs at Dalamus, but it scrapes off his mithral chain.

Dalamus will continue with the door...Once unlocked he will open it.

Sea Mother's Shrine Round 17

The black bulge of the portal pushes out some more, starting to look vaguely humanoid. And still it spins ... pulsing with evil.

Epik and Dalamus:

Epik attempts to move but his armor holds him back. He heals himself as the fish man, a mere 6 feet away from him acts with impunity. Dalamus finishes unlocking the door, and prepares to open it. The little dwarf stabs at him again, but Dalamus brushes the creature aside.

The priest holds his spear aloft in his hands and a cruel black flame alights from the end of it.

Dwarf vs Dalamus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

It probably won't matter, but remember that every round you do something takes 2 rounds off your breath holding limit

I'm realizing I forgot to resolve Dalamus thunderstone earlier as well. Will do that now.

Margh Michtu save vs TS: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22; success

Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5

DM:
The TS would have had an impact on the dwarfs ability to cast the spell. Not sure that is going to matter given our new circumstance.

Dalamus will attack the priest after he opens the door

Damage

Dalamus:
The dwarf didn't cast any spells, just the kuo-toa priest. It would have affected the dwarf's initiative, but since everyone waited at the beginning so they could act together, it's no big deal.

Sea Mother's Shrine Round 18

Init: Sam, Portal, D, M2, Nemoris, Magma, Nowzai, Epik, Dalamus

Epik and Dalamus:

The door is not open, Dalamus will find it takes a DC20 Str check to pull it open against the weight of the water.

The priest steps forward, its unholy radiance palpable through the water, and the sickened Epik struggles with not vomiting as he holds his breath. The priest stabs out with his spear which splits at the end like a pincer. The evil-infused weapon tears into Epik's flesh as well as his soul.

Epik may attack this round

The dwarf stabs relentlessly and fruitlessly at Dalamus, as it starts to blow bubbles.

Dalamus braces his feet against the wall and pulls mightily but is unable to budge the heavy door.

Hold! This is the height of folly. I'm happy to cover you from here, but there is no reason for us to all rush in and engage in melee when very few of us are suited for it.

I'll come forward as far as the stairs, but this is not a wise course of action.

Male Human Wizard (Conjuror) 10 / Loremaster 4

"Nothing about this is wise," Nowzai snaps. "But splitting up is a recipe for disaster. We all go together, or we all stay here. There is no middle option, and we have no time to debate this in a committee."

Epik will LoH as a swift action:

Epik will then full round attack M2:

Damage dice need to be divided in 2 for slashing underwater.

Sea Mother's Shrine Round 18 (cont)

Init: Portal, D, M2, Nemoris, Magma, Nowzai, Sam, Epik, Dalamus

Epik slashes out through the water, forcing his blade against the massive resistance. Feeling like he's moving in slow motion, he's just able to score a small wound on the priest's arm.

Sea Mother's Shrine Round 19

The portal bulges out significantly, and the outline of a feminine form is definitely apparent. It looks as if she's dragging or carrying something large behind her.

Nowzai and team, minus Nemoris, move forward together, staying within the confines of the wizards protection circle.

Epik and Dalamus:

The priest makes a croaking noise that seems to come from all around you, hollow in the water. He stabs at Epik again and again with a viciousness in his strikes that conflicts with his wide-eyed unexpressive frog face. The paladin fends off one blow, but his inability to swim lets the other through.

M2 vs Epik: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24; HIT!; Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (1) + (2, 1) + 14 = 18
M2 vs Epik: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17; miss
Epik swim check: 1d20 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (14) - 8 + 3 = 9; off balance

<Epik fights back here>

Behind him, Dalamus yanks harder on the door with a crowbar this time and cracks it just enough to break the seal. The door flies open and the rush of water out of the room throws the whole place into chaos.

DC15 Strength Check to stay standing. Everyone takes 1d3 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + (2, 3) = 8 damage from getting knocked around

M2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
D: 1d20 ⇒ 1

A loud pop followed by the sound of rushing water accompanies a wall of water exploding out from the eastern door behind the statue. The water flows down the stairs and off the side of the platform, quickly forming a large, shallow pool in the bottom of the shrine area. Epik, Dalamus, a shaven ashen-skinned dwarf, and a kuo-toa decked in mithral full plate all tumble out with the water.

Aside from what I wrote above about the portal? As for Epik and Dalamus, you can see them perform their Round 19 actions listed above. You can see the mithral full plated, pincer spear wielding priest and the beardless dwarf as well . They are both prone at the beginning of the round. The priest next to the statue on the raised dais. The dwarf on the floor of the temple.

Which reminds me, I should have another map for the lower section. Will post tonight.

Sea Mother's Shrine Round 20!!!

Init: Aushanna, D, M2, Nemoris, Magma, Nowzai, Sam, Epik, Dalamus

Exactly two minutes after the party entered the room, the portal vomits out it's summoned creature. With an audible pop, the blackness breaks away and the portal as a whole swirls down to nothing leaving a behind a darkly angelic creature. A darkly beautiful woman, armored in bloody skirts, held aloft on black wings scans the room and seeing the crowd below smiles a cruel grin and pulls up a massive longbow which alights with flame as she nocks an arrow, taking aim at the first thing she sees.

Summoning

Make a knowledge planes check for info

I'll be nice and give her a round of "summoning sickness"

The little sees the creature and panics running from Dalamus, who stabs him swiftly in the back of the neck and leaves him face down in the water.

The kuo-toan priest croaks a few lines as he looks up at the creature in the air and then returns his attention to the party. Seeing the stonechilde coming to join the fight, he waves his hand and the novice Torag priest and a chilling sense of being unable to move creeps through Magma's muscles. He moves forward to the top of the stairs as he awaits Epik, somehow becoming even darker in form and more visible in evil with every step.

Magma make a Will Save DC 18 or be paralyzed for 8 rounds making a new saving throw every round to break it

Nemoris, seeing the creature, fires a volley of arrows that fail to penetrate his armor. Nemoris notices the same erratic wobbling of his arrows as surrounded the other priests. Roll miss chance in the future ... not applicable here since none of those would have hit

Next to him, Sam fires (Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 85) and strikes the frog priest cleanly in the shoulder. He grunts in slight pain but otherwise pushes through it.

Magma moves closer (if able) and Nowzai fires another sonic orb that hammers into the priest, the magic unaffected by the enhanced armor.

Epik moves slowly slogging through the water, getting half as far as he'd like. Dalamus having already slain his opponent looks for his next move.

Dalamus may still act this round ... the water which now covers the entire floor, counts as difficult terrain

Is there any way for Dalamus to climb up the back of the platform? The idea being that he will be behind the enemies when he gets to the top.

Sure, he can attempt to climb the column. Its slick with moisture but intricately carved so has some handholds.

Since Magma is now paralyzed, he wouldn't move forward. Will Nowzai and Sam still move forward?
