Nowzai rushes over to the re-stoned Ma'puande, shouting at Dalamus to follow him and holds off waiting for him.

Dalamus, reeling from the ray, tries to get his thoughts about him.

Dalamus:

The beholder is your best friend and you can't understand why anyone would ever want to harm him. You have the utmost faith and confidence in his decision making and ideas and really want to do whatever you can to help him.

A voice appears in your head, you know it to be Orbius, Dalamus, my friend, go with your companions. I am worried about them, and believe they wish me harm. If they do wish me harm, I contract you to eliminate them for 100,000 gold each

Once everyone is back out, Jenya will cast Magic Circle Against Evil which should give Dalamus a new save at a +2 (Does he actually get a +4?) RAW says +2 Resistance Bonus and then a separate +2 Moral against compulsion, not sure if those will stack

I have several dispel magic questions

1) I am almost positive I can use it in a targeted way to remove the Charm if Dalamus fails his next save, but please confirm for me.

2) Is it possible to use a dispel magic on the Beholders Antimagic eye to disable it's ability?

3) If Dalamus is charmed but in the Beholders Antimagic the effect is suppressed right?

4) Would that also be true for Epik paralysis?

Sam will ready an action to cast Dispel Magic on Dalamus if he appears to fail his save or if he acts in any sort of an aggressive way against any of us

Note, Dalamus is invisible.

And then...?


Init:Init: Jenya, Ma'puande, Epik, Dalamus, Nowzai, Sam, Magma, Orbius

Nowai appears with Ma'puande's stone form and Sam moves to cast a spell if necessary. Jenya casts magic circle vs evil. (Although based on what knowledge and why, I'm not certain) but doesn't see Dalamus anywhere. Magma stands around confused as to what's going on.

Back at the rest of the order ... reset initiative above.


Jenya just would have cast that at the start of the fight if I had remembered that we switched out her spells, and the beholder is clearly evil, so anything that helps against that is good

"We need some time to regroup," Nowzai says, then reads the scroll, returning Ma'puande to flesh form. Once she is moving again, he asks, "Is there anything you can do for Epik?"

Ma'puande shakes clear her thoughts, and asks "It did it to me again, didn't it?" Then she stands up straight and says "I am an Oracle of life, and I revere all living things. But that creature, it doesn't need to keep living, it is a cancer which much be cured!" when she is finished, she is shouting, and shaking. She turns to Nowzai and says "Thank you my friend, again. I am better now, lets get to work. Is anyone hurt?

Nowzai frowns, "Hold on. Other than bringing Nemoris, there is not much more we could do to prepare. We have a tactically advantageous position in this room. Take cover behind each side of the door and swarm the monster should he follow!"

Ma'puande tilts her head, "If it decides to follow. It may just sit in there. It may have a way to watch us as we sit here discussing our options." She then looks around "Have we lost one of our numbers? I don't see the sneaky man anywhere." She then closes her eyes and turns her head, as if looking for something. Uses her Lifesense ability (Blindsense, 30ft) "Ah, there you are! Hello Friend, sorry, I've forgotten your name, turned to stone and all. Are you injured? Come closer so I might use the spirits power to heal you She beckons at an unseen someone to come closer hopefully into the Magic Circle vs Evil

Dalamus will head over to Ma'punde. "My name is Dalamus, I understand forgetting it, with all that has happened."


The party quickly takes care of the paralysis and the stoning and then moves to cover and wait. The still invisible Dalamus announces himself to Mapuande.

You wait several tense moments but nothing happens immediately. How long will you wait?

Dalamus:
We will assume you walk into the circle at some point. Make another save. The spell gives you a +2 resistance bonus, which doesn't stack with other resistance bonuses (like from a cloak of resistance)

The party moved back out of line of sight and waits. And waits. While you can hear rays firing, the beholder doesn't appear.

Eventually the door closes again.

Taking Nowzai's action since it's action not just voicing words ...

Nowzai casts a spell and the door to the west rolls away, revealing another shaft. This one, however only goes down.
