After an eternity, Dalamus returns to the anxious party and reports what he found. You prep your spells and head up the spiral staircase.

Epik emerges from the staircase to a bizarre sight. Magma and Sam can see this as well, the rest of you are blocked by the stairs.

A bonfire of utter blackness dominates the center of this room. It crackles as if it were normal flame, but it’s a slick, glossy black rather than the orange-red of a fire. Surrounding the black flames is a pale yellow corona that casts light about the room. A sheaf of papers lies scattered near the base of the black-flame bonfire. More than a dozen passages originate in this room, with at least some of them doubling back on themselves. Floating in the middle of the bonfire about 10 feet off the ground is a desiccated corpse draped in immaculately embroidered black and purple robes with an immense high collar.

Next to him, a giant walking armored statue of clay passes by stalking toward the back of the room. It doesn't seem to notice you yet.

The corpse turns its purple glowing eyes upon you and laughs a dry rasping chuckle, "The last pretender was right ... there were more of you to attempt today. Years of boredom and I get this excitement twice in a day. Prepare for a painful death, outsiders."

Nowzai and Sam:
The clay golem is highly resistant to weapons and spells. Weapons that are both bludgeoning and adamantine have effect. Spells to use that have effect include move earth, disintegrate and earthquake.

The lich is more variable. A spell caster of immense power, traditionally it has resistance to non magical edged and pointed weapons, cold, electricity and other undead immunities. Individual lichen can have other abilities and can be as varied as humanoid races.

The Nexus Round 1

Initiative: Nowzai, Epik, Sam, Myaruk, Golem, Magma, Dalamus, Nemoris

Nowzai sends his archons forward and they each fire a bolt at the lich, and one even hits. The lich laughs scoffing the smoking on his shoulder.

Nowzai himself climbs up the wall and emerges from the staircase on to the side of the wall. Epik rushes the clay golem and although he catches the creature unaware, the golem's armor turns aside his blade.

Sam moves into the room ... And I assume will do more ... post as soon as you can.

Sam:
Rough picture: Nowzai is about 25 feet east 5 feet north of you, the lich is another 15 feet north of him. The golem is due west of the lich 10 feet and Epik is south of the golem. Your line of sight and effect are not blocked to either one of them from where you moved into the room. The three archons are just north of Nowzai. Note on your action, the summons below would not be in place.

The black energy swirling around the lich swarms around and repairs the wound caused by the archon's light. The lich continues to chuckle and then casts an exceptionally quick incantation, summoning a group of four 3-headed dogs, their flesh flayed and stripped from their bodies. They appear between Epik and Sam and attack ...

Spellcraft DC 20:
The lich casts Summon Monster V ... really, really fast.

Knowledge Planes DC16:
The dogs are cerberi, mythical watch hounds of Hell, related to hellhounds, they hate the beasts. They trace their origins to a single primordial beast from some long forgotten corner of Hell. They are vicious trackers known for their ability to smell souls and can lock beings on a given plane by their bite alone.

Realizing this jacks up just about everybody's post from here on out, I'll reset initiative for this Round here and allow everyone to repost who hasn't been resolved, and I'll look for additional actions from Epik, Nowzai and Sam as well. The golem was unaware so didn't act this round.

Nevermind I just re-read your post and saw that they are dogs. What I still don't understand is that was my last rounds action. I should have an opportunity to attack them since you posted that after my actions were posted.

I will attack the dog that stands before me. Dalamus will also activate his boots of speed giving his Haste

The Nexus Round 3

Initiative: Magma, Dalamus, Nemoris, Nowzai, Epik, Sam, Myaruk, Cerberi, Earth Elemental, Greezcik, Barbazu Devil

Magma keeps hammering away at the dogs, slaying another one near him. Dalamus cuts at the one near him twice, noticing the blade is doing damage, but the extra effect against chaos doesn't seem to be processing.

Dalamus:
Creatures of Hell ... they are of law and immune to my baneful touch

Nemoris fires into the golem, stepping as he does do, his first 2 arrows just barely scratching it as the suddenly quick moving golem actually dodges away from what would be brutal damage.

Nowzai's archons also fire at the golem blasting away pieces of scorched clay. The wizard himself starts casting a spell.

Sam and Epik slash several times and the pummeled clay golem finally falls to the ground in a crash of broken pottery. (kill goes to Sam)

The final dog creature lashes back at Dalamus, striking him several times with bites and ripping at his flesh.

Finally, with a shuddering crash the top of the stone dome explodes out sending pieces of stone left and right. The lich flies up, still encircled by the nexus and points at Nowzai, no longer laughing, as he finishes a quick summoning spell.

Infernal:
"Destroy the wizard ... he pains me."

A small winged red humanoid creature (an imp) appears behind Nowzai swinging a scorpion-like tail at the wizard striking him twice injecting poison into the wizard. Near simultaneously a horned hoofed humanoid wielding a vicious, saw-toothed glaive, grinning a feral smile in a toothy maw below which writhes a hideous, twitching beard. It's a barbazu, or as more commonly known, a bearded devil. The creature scowls at Nowzai but turns to attack Nemoris, since the wizard is out of reach. It hits the ranger once causing a horrific bleeding wound. (DC17 Heal check to stop, magical healing fails unless a DC16 CL check is made)

A tremendously huge stone and earth head appears out of the wall of stone and follows up with shoulders and a massive fist, with which it swats an archon out of the air.

The Nexus Round 4

With three quick strikes, Magma takes down the summoned devil and it disappears in a puff of brimstone.

Feeling the weight of the dimensional lock settle on him, Dalamus lashes out and cuts the dog thing once.

(Assuming) Nemoris sees the visible lich and fires arrows at him, nicking the bony creature once, before his remaining arrows get caught in a sudden roar of wind that surrounds the lich.

Nearly the same time, Nowzai calls up his own wall of wind. His archons find the lich harder to strike than the plodding golem and the undead caster dodges all but 2 blows.

At Epik ... your target is dead

Sam steps over and sets a flurry of blows on the imp, taking 3 to cut the winged creature down eliciting a hiss of anger from the lich.

The lich roars reaching into the black flame and the entire cavern fills with a foul miasma causing unholy pain to seep at your soul. It lingers and continues to leach. The raw power coming from the fearsome creature affects all who see him. (Saves and damage below plus everyone make a DC22 Will Save or be shaken for 12 rounds)

Next to him the elemental slips into the ground and leads with a fist out of the ground striking at Magma but banging off the thick-skinned stone childe.

Dalamus gets chomped by all 3 heads and the creature jerks its heads in three different direction causing rending damage.
