First thought that comes to Ishtar mind is using fire... Burn it to the root!

Then she discards it, knowing she could damage the scouts. She takes a less destructive approach and instead goes for a less risky thing.

Unsure of what the thing was, Zane moved to get a clearer shot. Once there, he extended his holy symbol and invoked the name of the Morninglord, a line of holy light shooting from his hand to the mass of the thing that was holding the lizardmen hunters.

@All Sorry for the slow response, have a lot going on right now.
@Azarra, yes you know: Immune acid, fire, mind-affecting effects, slashing and piercing damage. Worse you are aware of its sleep aura (range nerfed due to practicalities of this map) and that slashing and piercing attacks can cause it to split in two. You also know it's slow.
@Ser Armithia, I'll move it further away, this is unrealistic.

Unsure of what manner of foe they were facing Kardas hesitated, depsite being engulfed and digested the pair of hunters seemed to be standing asleep! Kardas you can still post a round 1 action if you'd like.

The huntress Po gasped and fired at the huge pool of ooze, her arrow vanished and it was impossible to tell if any damage had been done. She wrinkled her nose in disgust at the strong smell of camphor washing off the ooze.
Longbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 This should have a side effect. I'm going to hand of GM wave that for this one attack only.

@All you might wish to revise your plan of attack based on what Azarra knows.

Azarra tells everyone what she knows.

She then pulls out a blunt arrow to see if she can do some damage that way, moving into a better position and then firing.

Ser Armithia suggests trying to get the Ooze's attention and manoeuvring it presumably away from the stricken lizardmen.

As he approaches he got a lungful of the soporific vapours and he find his eyelids getting heavy but with a surge of righteous indignation he bulls past this and surges forwards.
Will Save DC 24: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 <--- PASS

Zane invoked a word holy to Lathandar and a ray of ruby colored light lanced into the oozing morass causing some of it to boil off!
I never noticed this before, Searing Light appears to be untyped damage so it works fully.

With an arcane word of power Ishta hurled a volley of miniature missiles from her outstretched hand which unerringly struck the ooze, blasting bits off it.

Azarra could hardly miss and her blunt arrow slammed straight into the middle of it, sending ichor splattering everywhere.

The Ooze sensing prey mindlessly charged towards the party but it was too slow to catch anyone.

Seeing Azarra using blunt arrows, Po asks, "Do you have any spare blunt arrows?"[/ooc] It's a move action to throw her a handful which she'll have to use a move action to pick up.

Kardas shouted, "These things are mindless predators, we should lure it away from Azarra! Ser you seem unaffected but it's stench, can you hang back and wake her up when it's safe?" Stomping his feet he motioned for the rest of you to follow and lead the ooze on a merry chase!

Po nodded but glanced towards the knight curious to see if he agreed.

Zane has posted an action and we know what Ishta is doing unfortunately. Waiting on Ser Armithia.

Zane whispered words of power, the gift of which was from Lathander the morning lord. A ruby red beam of light lanced out from the palm of his hand and seared its way through the Ooze's bubbling morass!

I'm going to hand of GM assume Zane uses his move action to gain distance.

Sensing its lunch running away, the giant ooze blundered after Zane, Kardas and Po! But it was slow, too slow to do more than catch up with them!

Bladed dash isn't a teleport, it's just fast motion that doesn't trigger any AOOs. But yes I'll let you do that.

Shouting a Nar word of power, Kardas leaps into action leaving a cascade of multi hued outlines behind him as he arrives next to the stricken Ishta and bodily drags her away from danger.

Ishta is affected by regular sleep. This would wake up most people so I'm going to rule she's awake but prone.

Seeing the onrushing Ooze, Po wants none of that and sprints off to the east.

With a heavy Ser Armitha accepts that his resplendent armour is about to get indefensibly filthy and repeatedly punches the stinky ooze with his gauntlet. This seems to be rather effective but indescribably disgusting and the stoic knight is sure that he'd need a month of baths before he'd be at his parade ground best.

Zane backs away and once more invokes the power of Lathander to summon a spiritual mace which appears and attacks the ooze causing bits of it to splatter onto the grass.

The Ooze for it's part didn't feel pain but noted that food was present and lashed out with a pseudopod which bashed the knight in the face. Noting the stinging acid, Ser flinched back just in the nick of time as his armour started to bubble and pit. Just description it did no damage to his gear.

Left unattended, the divine weapon called into existence by Zane continued to swat at the ooze.

Ishta wakes up and finds herself being dragged by Kardas. "I'm okay, I'm okay, thank you." She quickly stands up and looks for Azarra, finding out she's in more or less the same spot she was a while ago.

"We need to wake her up..." she thinks aloud while trying to find a way. When Ser Armithia mentions Azarra's signatre spell, though...

Ishta casts Prestidigitation and tries moving some of Azarra's belongings, hair, finger, anything that could wake her up, including creating particulary powerful smells if that's possible at all.

Knowing he's supposed to get into the mix, Kardas resorts to casting a foul glamer spell to hide his exact position. After speaking the final word, the magus's shape cascades into a multi-layered hue of Kardasses that leave any onlookers confounded and mesmerized.

After uttering a word of power, Kardas' outline wavered and shimmered and danced around making it damnably hard to tell where the rashmiri was.

Not having any of Azarra's blunt arrows, Po wisely chooses to watch in sick fascination instead as the others dealt with the Ooze.

Covered now from head to toe in the most disgusting filth brave Ser Armithia continues to lay into the ooze with his fists, splattering bits of it everywhere!

Looking much diminished now the ooze stood there dumbly as first Zane's conjured hammer and then Zane himself braced himself for the soporific stench and smashed into it with reckless abandon with his mace. Zane's last strike seemed to have been the straw that broke the camel's back for what was left of the ooze lost cohesion and stared to slowly sink into the ground.

COMBAT OVER

Azarra was woken up shortly after and then the two stricken but still sleeping hunters where examined. Grievously wounded by the Ooze's digestive acids it seemed unlikely they would survive for much longer without urgent aid. The deer they had been chasing was a large hind with a once beautiful coat, it was quite dead of course and partially digested. It had also been struck by several arrows, so it seem that it was just a cruel twist of fate that lead it in it's panic to bolt into a huge verdurous ooze and cause the hunters to become dinner.

Azarra shakes her head, waking up from the strange sleep, and when she is able to take in her surroundings again, she casts Cure Light Wounds on each of the hunters, trying to keep them in the land of the living.

Ser Armithia watches as the dreadful ooze disappears under the swamp waters. The gold elf then turns around in a circle; prepared to continue defending the group. Not seeing any other dangers; noticing that the Bard is awake and granting healing already to the hunters; the Paladin wades through the muck and mire with a grim, but determined look on his face.
We shall not speak of this once we return to civilization.

He smiles.
We paladins do have a rep to keep up, you understand.

With that said, Kardas goes about harvesting this and that from the thing's mortal coil. Its enormous size and combat potential surely must mean its bits and pieces must contain some sort of alchemical power.

It's just RP as Kardas loves to cannibalize strong foes into, well, eh, 'potions and curatives'.

Azarra's magic while not sufficient to undo all the terrible burns, undoubtedly saved the lives of the two scouts. They were in a bad way but incredibly grateful to be alive but where saddened that the deer they had been stalking was now more or less inedible.

With Po's assistance the pair are carried back to the tribe on a litter improvised from the voluminous stores within the portable hole. She marveled at such an outrageous thing and the return of the young braves caused a sensation with the tribe. Despite the rain they seemed determined to have a celebration tonight!

After Azarra had quickly acted and saved the lizardmen from death from their terrible wounds, Zane channeled the energy of the Morninglord and healed any who might need it.

Trying to ignore the fact that Kardas started poking, prodding, and scooping the ooze into a beaker or flask of some sort, the priest helped collect the wounded hunters and return to the main group.

Rather surprised to see the determination of the lizardpeople to celebrate in the rain, Zane nevertheless was glad the folks had the good news they had needed to cause a celebratory mood to begin with.

Nothing in particular if we want to fast forward.

Works for me. We saved the lizard brothers, we dealt with the predatory goo, and ... I think that's it?

"Once saturated with a mixture of fried owlbear fat and bonemeal to give it structure, this goo might turn out to be a power ration in a bottle ..." The swordmage mutters this and more to himself as he puts away the bits and pieces he collected from the deadly goo.

The next tenday passes without any significant incident although at first the weather made progress slow and miserable. The rain eventually stopped and the sun came out brightly as the tribe passed some miles north of Phlan. The Stojanow river no longer seemed to be dangerous and passage across was uneventful however a half elven representative of Phlan called Breq was waiting for you.

She had a gift from the city, a handcart full of raw textiles, thread and needles. While pleasantries where exchanged between the diplomat and the lizardfolk she slipped a letter into your hands.

Congratulations! It looks like the river will recover fully in time. As promised you will be feted upon your return and you shall have your pick of the newly reclaimed mansions. While you where away the Zhents sent assassins who tried but failed to kill several councillors. They where captured but managed to kill themselves using concealed poison pins. It's possible more agents will be sent but for now the council and Phlan are safe.

The going was slow and uneventful, and Zane found the time relaxing. He spent the days conversing with his friends and their new allies, trying to show the lizardfolk the ways of the Morninglord, and his mornings communing with his deity and trying to understand even more of Lathander's portfolio and Zane's place in His design.

When the half-elven diplomat arrived, the priest was rather relieved to pass on the diplomatic efforts to the woman, reading the note that she subtly passed on to them after excusing himself. Motioning the others over, he handed the note to them. "Looks like the Zhents are growing more bold. We'll have to check in and see if we can determine who exactly is behind this."

Azarra nods, outwardly agreeable as usual, but inwardly still deflated at turning around from going to find Mirabel and finishing off the dragon. It was unlikely they would ever go back now, but she supposes she knew that when the decision was made. She needs to check in with the Harpers, and she supposes, even though she has always felt drawn to these people, she is going to have to leave the group at some point if she really wants to find her parents.

When they get closer to Phlan she tells the group

You guys are doing just fine with the escort. I'm going on ahead. Want to sleep in a real bed tonight.

She then casts invisibility and haste on herself and goes to the city as fast as she can to check on her wounded contact and report in on her Harper mission.

Ser Armithia uses the Tenday to talk with the Lizardfolk. The Paladin doesn't preach, but he does answer any questions regarding Helm. He mostly just listens, attempting to learn the language.

As news of the assassination attempt is read, he frowns.
I believe that these attempts are only to distract us from some larger plan. We would be wise to find out more.

Zane is a bit taken aback by Azarra's sudden desire to leave them, but he supposed she had some business to take care of and little desire for an audience when doing so. He understood that, even if he worried a bit over her safety. When Ishta volunteered the spell of flight, the priest relaxed, waving to the half-elf. "Enjoy the feather down...we'll try not to be too jealous."

Turning to the others after Azarra had left, he said, "Perhaps we should make our own way to the city with haste now that we have a capable diplomat to work on the relationship between the lizardmen and Phlan?"
