The trader swings with the flat of his blade, Attack Khopesh 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 2 + 4 - 4 = 20, striking you Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 nonlethal a solid blow to your skull.
You move away and throw your spell at him, a large flash of light fills his eyes, and Will save dc 14 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1 and he is dazzled by your spell.
That does not deter him as he moves up to you again, striking again with the flat of his blade, Attack Khopesh 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 - 4 - 1 = 9, Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 nonlethal and missing you entirely.
Your turn.

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

Can I pursue, or perhaps get off a few parting shots with force missiles?
If I can, I shoot a force missile at him damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
If I cannot pursue (or after I get off my shot), I will then make sure that all the other traders that fell with my first blast are actually dead and not just faking.
I will then go over to the camels and use Wild Empathy on them 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
After attempting to calm down the camels I will begin to go move the bodies a distance away from the small camp so they do not attract predators or begin to smell and then I will go through the gear that I have "found."
That is enough Exp to bump me up to lvl 3 want me to lv now or after I have slept?

![]() |

Even though he does a withdrawal on you, your missile has no problem taking him down.
He is wearing a suit of Studded leather armor, and wielding the khopesh. The others were wielding spears and wearing leather armor. You also find a total of 15 gp and 29 sp on all five bodies (after you coup de graced them, that is), plus various miscellaneous items.
The camels are quite skittish still, but you do manage to keep then from braying loudly and causing havoc Indifferent attitude
Once you check out the camels wares, you see they were trading some fine cloths and other fabric, along with various food stuffs, and several water bladders. you suspect their destination was somewhere deeper into the desert, as you saw no trace of these guys on your way to the oasis.
You can level up once you wake in the morning.

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

I will quickly tie my wounds off and gather everything together putting it on the camels and make a train out of them and move to the the far side of the oasis away from the carnage to set up my own camp. Once I have my camp set up I will cook a filling meal out of the food they were transporting.
it is what midday? afternoon?

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

After I finish my meal I will rig up a cover/tent using my 3sq yds of canvas, the trees of the oasis and rope and roll out my bed under it praising Abadar for this little bit of civilization out in the wilderness, and Set for my victory over the fools that tried to take advantage of me. I will make sure the camels are secured so they don't wander off during the night and I will then go to sleep so that I can get an early start to the town that Takiboti told me about before we parted ways.
I guess my buddy finally finished the character that he was working on to join this campaign and he wants you to approve it.
Also I want your input on the Sandshaper prestige class that I am aiming for since it is 3.5 and we are pathfinder, for the Pre Req's (Entry Requirements; Alignment: Any neutral. Skills: Knowledge (nature) 4 ranks, Survival 4 ranks. Feat: Touchstone (City of the Dead). Spells or Spell-Like Abilities: Arcane caster level 5th.)
I disagree with the alignment pre req since the example that they give you in the book is clearly an evil character.
I read somewhere that when converting 3.5 to pathfinder to reduce any skill pre reqs by 3 skill points because of not multiplying by 4 at first level, Would I only need one pt in each skill or is my knowledge faulty?
For the Touchstone feat I would need 8(5?) points in Knowledge (local) or a 250gp item as the pre req, which would leave me waiting until 6th level to get it, however at 6th level I wanted to get leadership, I was wondering if you could take a feat without meeting its pre req and just have it not function until you do meet them?

![]() |

Can you have your friend submit his character concept to me? Have him create a profile on Paizo, and he can post here, linking it to his profile, thanks.
Looking over the AL requirements, it only requires you to have a neutral component as part of your alignment, so the example given (NE) is ok. As for the Knowledge skills needed, 4 ranks is reasonable to me, so I will keep it at 4 ranks needed.
In regards to the Touchstone feat, you would first need to find the City of the Dead, in order to gather the keystone needed to pick up the feat, plus it would take 5 ranks in Knowledge, Local for it. I will rule the ritual to attune the Keystone must be carried out at the City of the Dead.

So you are requiring the Keystone AND the Knowledge Local as opposed to the Keystone OR the Knowledge local? I will get him to post his character as soon as possible

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

Alright, I told my guy to post his character on our page and he said that he would.
Edit: lol he beat me to my announcement
ok, glad I checked with you about that prestige class. I will be trying to get all the pre req's complete prior to reaching level 6

After I finish my meal I will rig up a cover/tent using my 3sq yds of canvas, the trees of the oasis and rope and roll out my bed under it praising Abadar for this little bit of civilization out in the wilderness, and Set for my victory over the fools that tried to take advantage of me. I will make sure the camels are secured so they don't wander off during the night.
This is just a copy of a post I made further up, you can come in during anypart of it.

Alan Edan |

After traveling for days in the desert and getting lost a few times, i finally found an oasis. I had been traveling becase Abadar sent me a vision of the person i would need to help inorder to resurect my ancesters empire.
I come to an encapment shortly before nightfall and see a strangely dressed man setting up a tent an praising Abadar. I stand and listen for a while and hear him praising set too. At this i frown the leader of an empire should not be praising set. I step out from the bushes and say
"hail great leader of the past and future empire. i am here to give you aid"
I then bow before him.

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

When this new person steps out of the bushes i drop into a defensive stance and begin summoning my arcane power, when he speaks i listen, and when he bows to me i smile and drop my stance. I think to myself finally someone who shows the proper respect and ask "Who is it that you think i am that you call me leader of the empire, and why do you offer your aid so readily?"

Alan Edan |

I stand from my bow and say
"I believe you to be the one who will resurrect the Sandshaper empire and bring our people once again to glory. Forgive me, I am Alan a cleric of Abadar he has sent me visions so I could find you and assist you in your journeys to come. I would have found you sooner but quite honestly my survival skills are lacking and I have become lost a few times. If you will have me I will aid you to the best of my ability"

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

"I do not know much of this time that I find myself in I will not readily turn away help that is offered to me, I do not know if I should trust you fully yet but I will not kill you, you have my word. Now what can you tell me about the new empire that inhabits these parts and anything else you think would be useful to me?"

Day 17
Ok nothing happens on either of your watches. You wake up at the break of dawn to the sound of camels bleating quietly to themselves.
Icarus

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

Alright, all finished leveling
After our conversation about local news the night prior
"Hum, an unstable political regime and Set controlled populous? I may be able to work with this..."
Is this town Qarta Werset the same one that Takiboti gave me directions to?
Having taken second watch I have had time to put the dream behind me as we start traveling toward the town that Takiboti gave me directions to and am not as irritable as I could have been, I take the hardiest camel as my own and outfit it with tack and travel bags and distribute my things onto it leaving most my my personal gear and important things in my own pack and the things I am going to sell in the camels bags. I allow Alan to chose a camel for himself as well and create a train with the rest planning on selling most of them and the trade goods when we reach the town.
"Alan come chose a camel, we have a bit of a ride before us and I do not want to delay, I have already been stuck in these wastes far longer that I had anticipated."

Alan Edan |

Icarus pointed out to me that I didn't use all my skill points when making my character so I fixed that
"I already have a camel, I put him with the rest last night when we were making camp. As soon as we finish breaking camp we can head out"
I think to myself, This leader is not how I thought he would be, He has already strayed from the teachings of Abadar. This must be the reason that Abadar called me to assist him, to make sure that he does not stray. I then offer a prayer of thanks to Abadar for giving me this mission and finish breaking camp.

Ok after getting the camp broken down, you both prepare to depart the Oasis, and travel towards Qarta Werset Yes, this is the same city she told you about, Icarus.. You lead the camels out of the oasis and start traveling due east, where you see signs of passage, probably by other traders, like those you killed earlier.
It is midmorning and the day is as hot as to be expected. To get around the issue of transporting 6 camels, not including the ones you are riding, you needed to set up a camel train with Icaruus at the front, leading the camels, and Alan trailing behind.
The journey is uneventful, until...Perception check Icarus please.

![]() |

Icarus, as you lead the camels along, one of the camels, suddenly bleats out. As you glance behind you, the fourth camel in your train stumbles, and Reflex save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 vs DC 10 manages to avoid stepping in a crack which had been obscured by the blowing sand. The train comes to a crashing halt, and it takes several minutes for you and alan to make sure all the camels are ok.
As you start to get back underway, the camel who had stumbled, bares its teeth at you, as you attempt to guide the camel along. Handle Animal check please.

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

I will check the crevice that the camel almost tripped in, does it appear to be man made or natural?
Knowledge(nature) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Knowledge(dungeoneering) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Handle Animal is trained only so I am going to have to use wild empathy
Wild Empathy 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

![]() |

You manage to get the recalcitrant camel to calm down, all the while wondering why it is spooked so. Alan shrugs, having little idea either.
You both continue on your way, along your path the signs of passage along this track grow stronger, although you do not run into anyone. The rest of the day passes uneventfully, and soon it will be time to make camp.
Any actions for today, before you make camp?

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

I glare at Alan for a moment, how dare he question his Pharaoh. Then I sigh and relax my gaze, He is right however, perhaps Abadar sent him for a reason, my temper always did get me into trouble he could help keep me even tempered and on track.
"As of right now I am still half reacting to what is happening to me I am hoping that by reaching this town I will be able to find out enough about these people to formulate a plan. I have a few plans cooking on back burners as well, I do not necessarily plan to do them in this order but here they are 1. I plan to find if this current king has any sons, regents to the throne, or anything else to replace him. I also plan to find about how much longer he is expected to live, and finally I plan to discover a way to become Pharaoh of this "middle" kingdom. 2. I plan to hunt down the Golden Auroch, an item of power that brings blessing and makes it so drought is not a problem. 3. I plan to hunt down at least one ruin of the old sandshaper empire, it is called the city of the dead and many secretes are buried there, hopefully some I can use."
@ DM Haha, good thing I looked back at that entry about the Golden Auroch, I had completely forgotten about the ring with the 2 cure light wounds tiles on it.

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

"I was thinking we could pose as traders, you can double as my caravan guard, we can ask around while trading. We will be there as long as it takes to get the information so don't upset anyone while we are there I would rather not have to flee the town."

Nothing happens during the watches.
Day 18
The day dawns bright and clear, although you do see signs of high clouds building off to the South, and a minor increase in humidity.
BTW, Alan tells you the city of Qarta Werset is a weeks travel time from the oasis, if you press on hard. That may be difficult due to the camels you have with you.

Icarus Ras'Drexel |

Damn large deserts :/ I keep forgetting that Alan started off with a camel
I do my meditation to memorize my spells while Alan is praying first thing in the morning. Then we will break camp re-assemble the train and press on toward Qarta.
