When you are ready let me know the information you need. As for the identification of your loot consider investing in a scroll of identify and have someone learn the spell. With the amount of downtime at your disposal it would help you a lot, making identification of magic items way easier.
As a side note: when crafting you don't need certain spells, IIRC if you don't have them the DC for the roll just increases. Having the correct feats is mandatory, though.
Week 01 - Upkeep Phase
Supporter Attrition: Roll loyalty DC10, If successfull you lose 1d6 supporters, if you fail you lose 2d4 + your rebellion's rank in supporters. On a natural 20 you gain 1d6 supporters instead
Notoriety Maximum: No need for this (yet)
Treasury Shortage: If the rebellion’s treasury is below its minimum during Upkeep phase, the rebellion loses a number of supporters equal to 2d4 + the rebellion’s rank.
Increase Rank: Apply any adjustments to the rebellion’s rank due to increased supporters from the previous week. This is the point at which the rebellion “levels up.” It’s possible, particularly in the early stages of the rebellion, to gain more than one rank if fortune has granted the Silver Ravens an unusually large increase in supporters since the previous Upkeep phase.
Deposits and Withdrawals: Any rebellion officer can deposit or withdraw any amount of gold from or to the rebellion’s treasury.

Nice! I didn't realise that.
So I can try and make oil of silence for 125GB. It will take 2 hours, and I'd need to make a DC 5(base) + 5(caster level) +5 (no silence spell) = 15 spellcraft check (which I have a +7 bonus in), thus an 8 or more - 60% chance of success for half price item.
For the Benificial Bandolier, the check would be 5+9+5=19, and I'd need a 12 or better, thus less than 50/50 odds. Probably not the best investment. Especially as it takes a whole day.
Good old amulet of natural armor is DC 5 (base) +5 (caster level) = 10, with a +7 bonus I only need to roll a 3. A cost of 500gp and a days work.

Lirotha Karsani |

Sorry everybody!
I worked another 12 hours yesterday and plan on doing so again tonight...but for now:
@GM, have you updated ANYTHING on our rebellion sheet? I want to make sure we don't double up on things like notoriety and other adjusted stats that change as time passes! I want things to be as accurate as possible.
NOTE: I raised my intelligence to 18, so our group's secrecy rolls went up +1 too. (Adjusting our Rebellion sheet now!)
Other officers:: Did you increase your stat that effects your officer bonuses? (The only one that does not matter at the moment is the Hound since all the Strategist give us is 1 extra action per rebellion check.)
Loyalty roll for attrition...DC10: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Standard attrition...: 1d6 ⇒ 6
$#)^!
Treasury: Over 1000gps (Need 250gp min for Rank 5, 300 for Rank 6)
Changes in the treasury will have to wait until we settle the treasure sheet and divide up the lootz! (Note to all: We usually give the rebellion an even 'split' of the treasure. Is that still OK?)
Rank: We're still Rank 5 even with the 6 people loss. But we are no longer ahead on supporters. We need to recruit again if we want to reach rank 6 any time soon!

Oren Mitabu |

I'm fine with giving the rebellion a full share.

Lirotha Karsani |

Adjusting sheet with supporter losses now! Supporters total is now: 33
Val...
I wouldn't mind to see if you can make a Cackling Hag’ Blouse?

The Hound Of Kintargo |

Nice! I didn't realise that.

Sweet! Yeah lets try for some doses of Oil of Silence then :) If that's cool.

_Valrani |

The blouse the DC would be pretty hard.
5 plus 5 (hideous laughter) plus 5 (intimidate ranks) plus 3 (level) 18, so only a 50/50 chance of making it. I'd not risk it myself, but if you have 3k to gamble I'm willing to try.
I'm wondering if I should be investing in spellfocus(spellcraft) for this, or it it would be more use to get craft magical weapon instead next level.

![]() |

@ Lirotha: I updated your Notoriety. The rest is up to you.
@ Valrani: To craft the Oil of Silence you need Brew Potion. Do you have the feat?
It's time for the activity phase. Choose 2 actions you want the rebellion to perform and roll for them (I trust you all have the player's guide).

Lirotha Karsani |

For our actions, I recommend:
OPTION#1
Lie Low (No Team Required): If you choose to take
no rebellion actions at all during the phase, you can
reduce your Notoriety score by an amount equal to the
rebellion’s total number of teams.
-OR-
OPTION#2
Recruit Supporters (No Team Required): This check
can only be made once per Activity phase. By spending
an amount of gold equal to the rebellion’s minimum
treasury value, you can attempt to recruit additional
supporters. To do so, attempt a Loyalty check. The DC
of this check is equal to 10 + the rebellion’s rank. On
a successful check, increase the rebellion’s supporters
by 2d6 + any bonuses granted by Recruiter officers.
If you roll a natural 1 on the Loyalty check, you don’t
automatically fail, but your Notoriety score increases by
1d6. You can’t take this action if the rebellion is at its
current maximum rank.
and
Recruit Team (No Team Required): You can attempt to
recruit a new team as long as you are not already at the
maximum number of teams allowed (discounting bonus
teams). The DC and specific Organization check required
to recruit the team depend on the type of team being
recruited. If you roll a natural 1 on the Organization
check, you don’t automatically fail, but your Notoriety
score increases by 1d6.
Basically I think we should recruit some Freedom Fighters so we can start reducing our Danger levels soon.
Give me a Option#1 or Option#2 please! (
As usual the Group Majority rulez here!
I will hold on Lirotha's decision until I hear from you guys first. Both options have merit in my opinion.

Oren Mitabu |

I say we try option 2! But I don't know the rules really well, lol.

Lirotha Karsani |

The rebellion system seems complex, but its not bad. Here's a simplification for those who want to see it.
Basically our rebellion is a balance:
1. When our Rebellion was formed we decided to stick with Secrecy as our focus. So we have more bonuses on Secrecy checks than on any others. We could have chosen Loyalty or Security as our focus instead.
2. Rebellion Results and Outcomes:
This boils down to...
"How big we can grow and how much trouble we can cause"
Vs
"How much we can stay out of the enemies reach or view"
So far this has not been a big deal. I expect it to become MUCH more of a deal as we continue to succeed and become more a thorn in Thrune's side.
3. Then throw in random effect, quests, and encounters; each of which could harm or help us depending on how we accomplish the task or the various decisions we make. The more friends we make, the better off we are. However...that could also make us vulnerable...as our previous traitor has shown.
4. The final outcome: We will not win this rebellion without the people's help. This is just an obvious fact seeing how thing are going. Even if we attacked Barzilai today and killed him somehow, Cheliax is still there and will just throw more troops at us until we're gone or the city is. We need to beat them somehow in a way that they CANNOT/DO NOT WANT TO COME BACK. Its just that simple. Getting to that point is the adventure.
Does that help at all or did I just confuse everybody more?

Rocco Hardweather |

I'm in favor of laying low while we research all these books and everything. We still have a strong number of supporters, and I think we can still pretty much handle things. At least for another week until our next activity phase.
GM, any word on what I was able to figure out from my appraise checks?
The scroll of identify idea is a good one. I actually bought one before our most recent adventure.
Lirotha, do you have the ability to learn spells from scrolls like normal witches do? If so, I can give you my scroll of identify and you can use it to learn the spell long so we have someone who can more easily ID stuff during downtime.

![]() |

@Rocco: During down time I see littorio reason to forbid taking 10 or 20 for you to spend time carefully studying your findings. Taking 20 will be a time consuming activity though, so you won’t be able to have a daytime job as well. On the other band this will allow you to get the correct pricing for the items you found. No taking 20 on spellcraft checks though. Magic is inherently unpredictable no matter the amount of time you spend studying it and you’ll always need to roll for identification

![]() |

For some reason my phone translated "I see no" to "Littorio" (which has a whole other meaning...). Sorry for that.
Do we have a consensus on your 2 rebellion actions?

Rocco Hardweather |

I’m good with passing on a day job check. I’m willing to bet I’d be able to make more for the group by getting the prices right than with a day job roll. So I’ll take 20 on my appraise checks for a total of 25.

![]() |

@Rocco: That's enough to deduce the correct value of every item you found. Tell me what prices you need to know.
@Valrani:
create magic items, spellcasters use special feats which allow them to invest time and money in an item's creation. At the end of this process, the spellcaster must make a single skill check (usually Spellcraft, but sometimes another skill) to finish the item. If an item type has multiple possible skills, you choose which skill to make the check with. The DC to create a magic item is 5 + the caster level for the item. Failing this check means that the item does not function and the materials and time are wasted. Failing this check by 5 or more results in a cursed item (see Cursed Items for more information).
Note that all items have prerequisites in their descriptions. These prerequisites must be met for the item to be created. Most of the time, they take the form of spells that must be known by the item's creator (although access through another magic item or spellcaster is allowed). The DC to create a magic item increases by +5 for each prerequisite the caster does not meet. The only exception to this is the requisite item creation feat, which is mandatory. In addition, you cannot create potions, spell-trigger, or spell-completion magic items without meeting their spell prerequisites.
Now the question is, do oils count as potions for the purpose of item creation?
Edit: This specific oil counts as a wondrous item apparently, so you can create it with the craft wondrous item feat and you don't need to know the spell "silence".

Lirotha Karsani |

Lirotha, do you have the ability to learn spells from scrolls like normal witches do? If so, I can give you my scroll of identify and you can use it to learn the spell long so we have someone who can more easily ID stuff during downtime.
Absolutely! I bought several scrolls when I started the character to add the spells later in just such a fashion.
Also, consider me your Spellcraft master for anything you want to identify. I can skip personal work to help identify and organize as needed. Especially if you give me the scroll to learn. I probably won't memorize it regularly, but will do so on long down-times as needed.
(GM Please note: With my spellcraft and the Identify spell...that gives me a MINIMUM of a 21 with any roll I make, and if I can take "10" at least then that's a minimum of a 30 on my identify magic checks at my current level.)
Options Summary:
We have 2 selections for OPTION #2 and one for #1.
I'm still holding my decision for now.
Morri? Hound? We need your opinions on this ASAP so we can move forward.

Rocco Hardweather |

So the only thing I don't have appraisal info on is the two Victocora signet rings. We don't necessarily need to sell them, but it'd be good to at least know what they're worth. I've been able to appraise everything else, but we need to make some decisions about whether we want to keep anything.
The main question for the group is this - Do we want to sell the books we collected?
Some of them have direct uses, such as the Soul Tomes (+4 bonus to Knowledge (local and history) checks) and Planar knowledge books (count as masterwork tools for Knowledge (planes) checks). On the other hand, the books from to common room and Yilliv's Library don't seem to have any direct benefits, but might help build out our library in some way in the future. So where does everybody land on the books?
I vote we keep all the books, just in case those minor books have some small piece of information we might be able to glean later on.
Another request for the group - Please refer to the loot tracker and indicate whether you'd like to lay claim to any of the items we recovered. For example, I already claimed the two vials of unholy water we found
As for spell crafting stuff, Val has a good point that we can just use Read Magic to decipher the scrolls. That means we can identify the scrolls as the following:
Scroll of Air Bubble x2
Scroll of Identify x2
Scroll of Silence
Lirotha, you can take one of those two scrolls of identify to learn the spell for downtime use. You or Val can take the other one to carry as well for field use since you probably won't prepare that on a regular basis when you can use your spell slots for more important stuff.
Lirotha also had some excellent spell craft rolls in identifying the magic items we found in the library, so we now know that we obtained the following:

Lirotha Karsani |

With the Majority going with Option#2 then Lirotha will do that too.
GM: Please assume option #2 for actions this round.
I'll make the rolls later today ASAP.
Rocco, I made my selections on the loot sheet.
BTW: We didn't get the broken Cubic gate as far as I know. We didn't have any way to remove it safely as far as I know?
We should keep all the books. The better library we have, the better off we are against bad guys.

The Hound Of Kintargo |

Hope it's cool but I took the +1 Heavy mace, just so I have a magical melee weapon just in case cos my +1 Whip won't do much by way of damage.
Will Val need the Scroll of Silence to make my Oils?
I'm for keeping the books.

_Valrani |

I'm happy to take the pearl if Lirotha doesn't want to use it. Not sure we have a good use for the bookplate at the moment though.
I suggest Valrani and Lirotha each take one of the air bubble scrolls.

I don't see the headband of inspired wisdom +2 anywhere. Did I forget to list it? I was sure I had mentioned it. It was in the same room with the malfunctyioning cubic gate, a dose of dust of emulation while the secret panel contained a headband of inspired wisdom +2, a silver-and-motherof pearl ink pen worth 200 gp, and a platinum disk depicting a leering angel worth 100 gp.
Perhaps you forgot about these?

Lirotha Karsani |

I wonder who could be interested in those rings and tomes...
The rings and I'm sure some of the books go to the man who sent us to the Phantasmagorium! It was his family secret. Remember? He deserves not only the rings but the bodies too. If he wants the books, I don't mind as long as he lets us use them too if we need them.
I thought someone was already wearing the headband for now? It was temporary at the time.
Val: I was giving you the chance for the pearl. While I think I could use it of course, you made me my Amulet of Natural armor first so I felt you should get the first crack at it in exchange.
Hound: Anything on the list is up for grabs as long as no name is on it. If somebody want to argue with you on getting it, I just ask that you try and work it out without too much difficulty.
Rocco: Did you get the Gem on the list of items I pried from the wax figure of the maniac? I tossed it to you in game too.
BTW: Didn't somebody take that amulet of Natural armor listd from our fight witht he bird-lady? I could have sworn somebody was wearing that.

![]() |

I'm rolling first week events now.
Event chance 70%: 1d100 ⇒ 62
Event: 1d100 + 20 ⇒ (34) + 20 = 54
Please complete the needed rolls and then proceed with upkeep for week 2. You can also roleplay your actions in the gameplay thread. As always decisions and actions you take may have consequences in the future. You have people to debrief and to take care of but you need to tell me what you want to do.

Lirotha Karsani |

Snitch again?
ARRG.
*Loyalty Check (Snitch): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
ARRRG.
Notoriety!: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Also...GM? Are you giving us Rexus's bonus to Notoriety?
*Rexus Victocora: rebellion’s Notoriety score is reduced by 1 (to a minimum score of 1) at the start of every Upkeep phase.
Our other rolls!
*Recruit Supporters (No Team Required):
Loyalty Check (Recruit)DC15 w/Laria Bonus: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 2 = 22
Recruitment?: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 4 = 14
(Good news finally!)
*Recruit Team (No Team Required):
FREEDOM FIGHTERS (TIER 1 REVOLUTIONARIES)
Recruitment Security DC 15
Security DC15(Recruitment): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
(Success!)

Lirotha Karsani |

EVERYBODY NOTE: I have not updated the Rebellion sheet yet.
With these rolls we should be able to move to Rank 6 with the GM's permission?
With the additional of the new team we are now at our MAX # of teams.(4)
GM please review my actions and rolls here to see if you approve or not before I update and we move on?
I was assuming you were keeping up with our notoriety in the past due to the fact it changes so often and you are often the person rolling the amount. Do we need to do that instead from now on?

Oren Mitabu |

I am wearing of Ring of protection it I don’t have a natural armor Amulet. I could use it but I don’t want to be a hog.

Lirotha Karsani |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

If it truly has not been claimed then its all yours Oren. With Val taking the Pearl, me the scrolls, the Hound the +1 mace, and you the amulet as our big bruiser, I think that's pretty fair unless somebody objects. Rocco hasn't selected anything yet, but I think he wanted some of scrolls?
Besides, Val had planned to make her own amulet soon enough I think. She already has the materials for it I think. She's just got to spend the money and time on another attempt to make one.
BTW: Anybody notice we have a masterwork SILVER morningstar? Excellent weapon against DEVILS. Alchemical silver bludgeoning weapons don't get the -1 penalty to damage for alchemical silver either.
Lirotha will explain to everybody (especially the HOUND) that most devils are vulnerable to silver weapons (NOTE: silversheen steel and mithral weapons also count as silver weapons and do not have the -1 damage penalty that alchemical silver weapons have).
I also suggest buying or making a few silver weapons (or ammo) in the near future for the group. We can use the rebellion funds for it. Even if it's just a silver dagger for everybody.

The Hound Of Kintargo |

Hehe... The Hound then goes about making more silver ammo.
Val, do you need anything for that oil of Silence that I can try and get?

_Valrani |

Just the cost of the materials. 125gp
I'll roll the check here, it is a 2 hour process
DC = 5(base) +5(level) +5 (no silence) = 15
spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Ha! with that roll I could have made the cackling blowse!
What is our individual share of the loot?

Lirotha Karsani |

Loot?
We need to finish selecting loot individually and then selling what's left that we don't want to keep.
Once we have that amount we can divide it up between us and the rebellion.
You can borrow gold from the rebellion fund if you want, just don't drop us too far. We need at least 300+ gold to maintain a rank of 6 (once we get there) I believe.

The Hound Of Kintargo |

Sweet thanks! Well when we get more then we can make more Oil Of Silence cos I think that's gonna come in handy.
Actually I have like 500+ gp on my sheet so can you make me another dose please? :)
i took 125 off my sheet to pay you for the cost. Hope that's cool. I'll take another 125 off for the next one as well.
Then I'm making 10 silver bullets. So so far I've got 14 of them.

Rocco Hardweather |

Alright, I believe I finally have everything all figured out for our loot. It looks like the Fantasmagorium/Monastery trip gave us a total of 1680.4 gp, which, when divided 6 ways, gives each of us and the Rebellion a share of 280.07 gp.
Don't spend it all in one place!

Oren Mitabu |

I’ll gladly take the amulet.

![]() |

@ Lirotha: next time roll for actions first and then roll for events. As for lvl 6, that happens in the NEXT upkeep phase, so you can increase the amount of supporters once you start rolling next upkeep.

Rocco Hardweather |

I think I'm all set on purchases. I'm just buying a ton of scrolls, mostly just utility stuff like mage armor and magic fang for Kurglunn, and Comprehend Languages for any investigations kind of stuff we end up needing to do. I also bought a scroll of See Invisibility though, since that's been an issue we've run into recently.
Since Val is kinda covering Craft Wondrous and may do something similar later, I'm thinking of doing Scribe Scroll at 5th to cut down on my costs. I'll look into the rules on that some more to see how much it might help out the rest of you casters.

Oren Mitabu |

I hit a 27 on my Profession check. How much is that worth?

Lirotha Karsani |

@ Lirotha: next time roll for actions first and then roll for events. As for lvl 6, that happens in the NEXT upkeep phase, so you can increase the amount of supporters once you start rolling next upkeep.
I apologize GM, I was merely responding to your event roll, and then I edited and tacked on my action rolls afterward in the same discussion box since we had come to a consensus. I didn't realize the order of the rolls mattered that much since they basically all happened in the same week I thought.
The Rebellion rules are really kind of cumbersome, but I will try and manage them more carefully in the future.
So where are we NOW then? On to our next week's actions?
